  • I figure changing the valve cover video could help some people. We see alot of people changing valve cover for powder coating or to replace a gasket.
Watch the video and see if we can share any tips to make it a little easier and to be prepared with the right tools and parts.

A little tip, if you don't have a socket that fits the tube seal, you can put the old tube seal on top of the new one and hammer it down that way

I see you use WD-40 as a lubricate to help the install of the tube seals into the valve cover. I use silicone grease, since I believe the WD-40 will speed up the deterioration of the rubber on the seal. I also use a small amount on the i.d. of the seal to aid it in correctly and without damage fit over the spark plug tube.

    • @LHTPerformance

Pete Miller WD40 dries off. It doesn’t hurt rubber

Great video as always! 2 things though:
    1) If the valve cover is off already, would it make sense to change out the spark plugs as well? I know that they can be changed with the cover on, but if you covered that as part of this video that would have been even more helpful
    2) Not sure if I missed it, but did you put on the valve cover gasket before putting the valve cover back on? It's usually a fairly easy process, but just wondering if any sealant needs to be placed on the gasket to help seal better - i.e. for tight corners, etc

    • @LHTPerformance

Timothy Wu Most people know how to change the spark plugs. This was to show the valve cover. As mentioned in the video, we replace the whole valve cover gasket kit.

Bit of a potentially daft question so I have my flame suit ready, but as you recommended very frequent oil changes is it ever OK to skip a filter change and just do the oil? Great video, by the way, been waiting for this one-my cover's in dire need of a refurb.
