That evil Dr. Wily made us forget to put in the review score graphic! Thankfully we have pinned comments to tell you that Ash's score is a Liked a Lot, which he does say during the video. Don't worry, we locked up Wily this time!
Or maybe there's Amnesia-man.
Wily’s probably begging for forgiveness now.
He’ll be out in a week

Way to make Comcept cry like an anime fan on prom night, Capcom. I'm glad Mega Man is finally back.
Uncalled for insult.
but its true tho. and its just joke chill
@@psychokinrazalon Did you not get the joke? In the Mighty No 9 commercial they said that "cry like an anime fan on prom night" bit basically insulting a majority of the games target audience lol
Lmao, Mighty No. 9 failed even before the release!
I was gonna say the same thing! No offense to any anime fans though. Don’t wanna hurt any feelings.
I feel like its better for Megaman 11 to be safe and go back to what made the series great again since its been so long since we had a megaman game and then for the next game, they could go the next leve.
if the last 2 games played it safe as well, does it still count?
@@sonickhable I mean after the blunder that Mighty n9 was tho...
Mega Man 12 should be the X7 of the classic series.
Well I dislike when series is gone for so long but then come back very safe and like the most popular of the series
I rather a fresh new release of the game
@@momyour170 x7? please no, that would not be a good outcome.
Without watching this video I know which member of gamexplain did this review
Obviously Ash!
My boy Ash
Hmm...you don't mean that one guy that brings up Megaman in almost every Discussion, do you? :P
It was me.😃...
As soon as I inhale Ash and steal his identity. Back in a few😈
Exactly and that's the reason why GameXplain reviews are on point.
wow, they made the blue guy from smash into a game
My Dad Works For Xbox lol i see you everywhere.
My Dad Works For Xbox Sonic?
yeah just like that angel guy from brawl!
I wish they made a game about that punching guy
they need to make a gae about the man in red and that man in green i think their brothers?
with the failure of mighty number 9 and the success of mega man 11,
did megaman even NEED keiji inafune?
Nah, just a team that knew what it was doing.
Remember, then Capcom asked to make an updated Mega Man, he gave them Zero and ditched mega buster for a laser sword. I love Zero, but fans would hate him as new Mega Man instead of X. Keiji definitely didn't understand that people wanted from Mega Man.
megaman as a game never needed keiji inafune. he was only a character designer.
Yes and no, I still think inafune bad a big influence on mega man as a whole, from the level design and boss structures. While I really liked the demo I can tell that inafune influence wasn't there and if he did have a hand in mega man 11 game, it would even be a lot better.
Consider how we found out that Keiji isn't the real creator/farther of Mega Man i say no, i but think it would been great to have the original team of Mega Man work on the Mega Man games to be a little bit more safe at least borrow them from Comcept (that is part of level 5 games) and not have Keiji the director of Mega Man but just have him part of the art team or something.
I hope for Mega Man 12 they get rid of the 8 robot master rule. That was only put in place due to cartridge space. Even bumping the number up to 10 or 12 would be nice
no, thanks
Yes do it
They could do like mega man 3
I'd prefer more than 4 Wily stages.
Also, they should bring back intro and midstages.
@Jeff Rood
Wasn't that a thing in some of the games? I remember them having two castles or something like that.
Not that it was the point of the review, but every time GameXplain talks about Sonic Mania, they say that the Drop Dash is an ability they easily overlook and forget about while playing.
I don’t see how that’s possible. For me, the Drop Dash was the biggest game changer and has become my favorite ability for the Blue Blur!
You commented on the wrong vid bud
Ikr? It really helped achieving a fast paced gameplay that I feel the classic Sonic trilogy lacked sometimes
I honestly never used the Drop Dash. I just didn't know it existed. It might not help that I have the control settings to Sonic CD.
It's useful, but unless you're familiar with the trailers, and have done your research on the game Mania does nothing to tell you that the move is there, doesn't instruct you on how it works, and it's not required for anything. You have to make a conscious effort to break habit and start using it.
It's honestly pretty easy to sweep under the rug.
What´s the Drop Dash?
"At no extra cost"
DON'T GIVE THEM IDEAS

It may play it safe, but *it's better than nothing.*
I hope you know that Inafune didn't actually say that.
@@psychokinrazalon It was his translator so that's why everyone blamed him.
PsychokinRazalon
I hope you realize we’re gonna make fun of it anyways. No need to cry like an anime fan on prom night over it.
I don't get why people I say all they shouldn't have played it safe they should take more risks you should do that with the first one and then the sequels you prove up on it
At least we didn't get Mega Man 10-2.
MegaMan 10-2 HD Remix The Final Challengers
Glad they didn't make a Mega Man 9-3
Ya mean 9-3?
Megaman 2.8 Final chapter prologue
MegaMan 10-2 : International Roboenza Dark Edition Hyper Cookie
This already looks better than Mighty No 9.
Mighty Number 9 tried to be a Mega Man X game and not classic Mega Man.
I like Mighty Number 9.
+Roi Itzkovich I liked Mighty Number 9 too, and I've argued for it on Kotaku numerous times, but even I (A fan) must admit that the game was lacking. Too many people ridiculed MN9 as "the worst game ever", but it is far from. I personally think MN9's demise is that it's just average. It's a decent game with not a whole lot to write home about, and in the end, that's what hurt it most. It was just a forgettable game.
I hope Mega Man 11 provides a more exciting experience, and based on the demos I've played, It's pretty much a guarantee it'll be more exciting than MN9 as an all-around product.
*insert an original "everything is better than MN9" joke*
It’s an easy blow but I personally think MN9 deserves a bit more praise than it gets, looking at it on its own merits, its not terrible.
Old man
I may not be the most...experienced Classic player, but my pre-order was set to support Yuji Ishihara mostly. I loved Battle Network's artwork which was roped me into the Mega Man family 12 years ago and it'd be dumb of me not to vote with my wallet for the X fans needing an X9.
I enjoyed the demo for this
I still haven't even gotten past that part yet
"...the hopefully inevitable Megaman 12."
Definitely maybe an odd choice of words, there! :P
All I know is that you Megaman whiners better get crackin' at buying this game.
Because if ya don't and it flops, you'd might as well kiss this series goodbye.
I agree man. Not a Mega Man fan but the hardcore fans of this series need to buy the games. The same problem exists for the Metroid fanbase.
Im going too get it to help the robo fans
@@dededejostar6557
Good!
Hope you like it!
I've had mine pre-purchase, and got both Legacy collections.
Never say I didn't do my part. The rest of you get cracking.
I want the game and I'm not even a hardcore mega Man player.

Better than anything IGN does
They should add Megaman to smash.
They did.
PowahSlap Entertainmint I think that’s an excellent idea
R/woosh
Nah, Megaman wouldn't fit, since it's not a Nintendo IP
They should add Zero as an assist trophy too
At 4:35 You say that the double gear system was a concern because it could make Megaman overpowered but you're "happy to report that is not the case". But how would you know? You stated earlier in the review that you wound up not using the new features most of the time.
Kill Da Hoe and that's why.
He rarely needed to use them. So it's not as overpowered.
@@sebastiancintron29 Not neccessarily. Most likely it just means he got along fine with his basic abilites and didn't have a need for a powerup.
Isn't Ash a veteran for the franchise? He's probably just veeery skilled.
the fact that he never really had to use them speaks for itself.
If you're a pro, you'll get by just fine. If you're noob, the double gear system will help you in some spots, but not to the extent of making it that much easier for pros.
Say for example: A pro can get by a jump with a little difficulty. A noob needs the double gear system to get by the same jump with a little difficulty. The double gear system doesn't make the jump any easier for the pro, because they could already get by the jump with a little difficulty, but doesn't actually make it that much easier because you're still doing the same things that you would've without the double gear system..
Happy for you classic fans.
*NOW GIVE US X9 PLEASE*
Was hoping for a Megaman X Mania approach mainly to forget more about the bad memories of the later X games and/or fix what's broken about the storyline after X6, If Capcom wanted to please the fans that didn't give two craps about what bad happened to the X series after X8, then so be it. Though, it would be really interesting if X9 was 2.5d yet it restores the old fashioned boss system; no boss warning sirens, no maverick dialogue
Megaman X: Corrupted sets a really great example on future Mega Man X games even if Capcom would not take that example.
They said if it sold well then they will do it.
Please not X, at least not a traditional X9. MMX's story was supposed to end long before that, and there's only so much they can stretch the basic story without it being mindnumbly obvious that Sigma is behind everything again and nothing matters cause they'll just make a new game.
Now, if they actually make a bridging story between MMX and MMXZ, then I'll be up for it.
Megaman x8 ended in a cliffhanger. im curious what happened to Axl.
MML3
It wasn't said in the review but I have seen people complain in the demo. You can disable voices for the game if you want to, it's in the options.
Trying the demo, I can tell this game simply isn't for me. Still, I'm happy for the countless Megaman fans who have been waiting such a long time for another proper entry in the main series, and even more so after being let down so much by Mighty Number 9.
So good for ya'll. Your beloved series is back on the scene.
@@Tubuxis How so? And why does that warrant you getting on my case for it? I realize it's maybe a bit cheesy phrasing, but why can't I just say I'm happy for the fans of this series, given the frustrations I imagine they've been dealing with regarding it?
@@laggalot1012 don't listen to that angry troll. There was nothing pretentious about what you said.
I kinda wish the midbosses had one of the two gears, like the robot Masters.
The gears make for an interesting part of the boss fights, and I'd love to see this expanded further
Welcome back Megaman
I missed ya!
Already knew this game was gonna be good, but nice to have some confirmation of that! I hope we get more games in the series with this graphical style; it looks great!
Also forgot to mention, I like how the Special Weapons add more to Mega Man's design than just color changes this time around; it looks pretty cool!
Everyone buy this so we get more
Maybe. I'm going to wait a bit with it.
It's only 30$. Of course I'm gonna buy it
The creators said that if this sells well they will make Mega Man X9
SPERX that’s the game i want the most
That Man Was The Ryback so we can get Megaman 12?
I got it yesterday, it really feels like the original Megaman games. From the story, I think this is kind of a reboot or retelling of the story on how the story got started, so it makes sense to me as the reason they made a proper modern game from 11, while 9 & 10 were retro.
No comment about the amiibo and its functions. How come? What are they?
You just get small items like E Tanks and lives. Nothing else.
Thanks. I found that out after googling it. You’d think they, Nintendo game channel supporter, would include that in the video. Go figure
It was in their last Direct.
I still can't believe Megaman's back. What a world. Can't wait to pick this up ASAP.
I want DLC with Protman and Bass with levels for them
This game looks so adorable I want it !
I really want to get into the Mega Man games seeing as how I've never seriously played any of them and I liked the demo for 11 a lot. However, I heard that 1 is incredibly hard and not user friendly. Would it be better if I start with a later entry and then work my way back to 1? Or should I go to the X series instead? Any advice would be helpful.
Sorry if this is 3 years too late, but if I were you I would start with MegaMan 10 or 11 given their difficulty options, that way you can get acquainted with the general feel of the game formula. From there I would get the classic series legacy collections and play through them, and once you’ve had your share you can try out the X series to continue the storyline and gameplay.
I will say two things. One, we already have signs of DLC on the horizon, so much like the Mega Man Killers in 10, we can probably expect Blues and Bass for those who care about those characters, as well as perhaps some additional challenges. We’ve yet to see that Star Force skin again, after all. Secondly, much alike their not being in the main story, your dissatisfaction in not having a second castle like three of the previous 10 entries seems to miss that this just wouldn’t have been a good idea. Those have received flak even among us in the longtime fanbase for getting exhausting after a time and not ending when they should. This is the series’ soft reboot with a new direction after an eight-year hiatus; you want a self-contained and solid experience that appeals to the widest possible audience.
I mean, the reason many people complain about having too many castle stages is because you're forced to play them all in a row and have to replay them all when you restart your game without any way to save progress between. Which wouldn't have been the case here, since you now get a stage selection feature for the castle. That one change would have alleviated a lot of complaints about having multiple castles or even just more castle stages with a single castle.
Hmm,
2018: Sonic Mania Plus & Mega Man 11
2019: Yoshi's Crafted World & Luigi's Mansion
Oh and that Wii U port that nobody wanted
Luigi's Mansion is not a platformer though
I'm still buying that Wii U port. 😏
sry about your day
The only good thing that came from that lame Switch port is the fanart... There are a lot of good 2D platformers that are worth the money more than that game and with a lower price.
I did. I never got a chance to play Mario U because I played Mario 3D world and Mario maker instead
RevolvingCube Not worth it. So many other amazing platformers that only cost $15-20, and still have the same amount of content. Celeste, Shovel Knight, and Hollow Knight (this is a Metroidvania, aka exploring platformer) are a few I want to highlight! And if you really don’t want to buy a game made by a smaller developement studio, just buy Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Like Roll's design here. I can see this game getting DLC with her, Protoman, and maybe Bass honestly. Sad to see it's taking the safe route this time but that might be for the best for now
Mega Man 11 seems promising...
Well, Dr Light can’t possibly be worse than in 8 at least
*W-Megaman.*
We have to stop that evil Dr. Wahwee.
Mighty No°9 failed to make keeping going Mega Man's legacy. So the blue robot had to do it by himself once again.
I must say thought, I'm surprised that the Classic series of Mega Man, aside the things it went throught with the constant style change, still mantains consistent its quality. IMO with the exception of the very first game (which aged SOOOOO BADLY and now it's pratically unplayable for me) all the games in the classic series are at the very least an 8/10 in my eyes. It does have quite a thing for consistency I must say. Even the Kirby series always had this kind of consistency thought... and then Star Allies happened....
I don’t mind that this game’s short, as long as the game’s good it’s fine because with mega man games I replay them constantly
i agree, megaman games allways were short, one could prolly easily beat the older games in 2hrs each once u get the hang of the stages and patterns of the robot masters. block mans stage was surprisingly long imo, and fuse mans stage is pretty lenghty as well. well thats what i played so far. cheers
I love Mega Man 11. They finally stepped up Classic Mega Man into 3D properly, and gave him an actually great voice actor!...
Because before he sounded like a crying anime fan on a prom night.
Ash Paulsen being the one to review the new Mega Man game. I did NOT see that one coming. I am SHOCKED and SURPRISED to see him review this game. I mean, I don't recall him EVER mentioning anything about possibly liking the Mega Man series in ANY previous GameXplain video. This is TRULY unexpected.
And yes, that was sarcastic.
Can't wait to get this game, I didn't mind when Kirby Star Allies was a short game so I shouldn't mind for this game :)
Well Kirby star allies has lots of free DLC and modes...
My main concern with this game is that the low base content will be used to try and sell DLC further down the road. Don't know what the particulars of MM11's story are, but from that cutscene of the Robot Masters being checked up after they're defeated, and the fact these are Light's robots after all, I would like to see something similar to Mega Man: Powered Up where you can play as them provided you unlock them somehow. If that "somehow" turns out to be by buying them, I'm going to be very disappointed.
Yep let Capcom spend a ton of money and resources to make free content. If it was made already that's one thing if its brand new DLC that's another. Content costs money and they aren't very high on megaman anymore so them making another game is almost a miracle on its own.
Are there any extra playable character(s) in this game? I'm a sucker for that kind of thing
Miles Brown Sonic Manía Plus style!
Hopefully we can get Legends series back on track if this keeps up.
Kind of wish they gave a pre-battle dialogue when you enter a boss battle like megaman powered up and maverick hunter X
Finally, something that’s truly better than nothing! I’m so happy, I could cry like an anime fan on prom night!
Comcept, this game is an up your’s from Capcom. BURN TO THE GROUND!!
I wouldn't mind a feature to disable Double Gear for ALL PARTIES involved, and tone down some of the gimmicks that are more focused on the double gear abilities.
6:28 Mega Man's eyes though! They never moved when he was choosing a stage. :P
You can tell from this video that Ash LIKED-A-LOT Mega Man 11.
That is actually the score they gave for the game.
@@achaudhari101 Where?
In their updates In the comments.
I'm pumped for this game. Been a Mega Man fan for a very long time and it's nice to see the Blue Bomber in good hands again. I'm also really happy that Capcom decided NOT to go with 8-bit graphics again. That style is nice, but damn we needed an update.
I managed to get a copy early & during my play through my only real complaint is the music. Fuse Man & Bounce Man stage themes I did dig, but there needed to be more rockin’ tunes. He is called RockMan in Japan after all. Always associated Rock music with MegaMan 🤷🏻♂️
Rock music was rarely even in the Classic series though.
It was It was was just in 8 bit. Hence Rockman kinda why the music is so iconic. Plus it was the 80s Heavy Metal was pretty popular in the main stream among other types of music of course.
@@phillipmartinez2436 MM 10 was the only classic game where I could hear rock music. All the games have good rock remixes but I don't recall hearing anything that gave a rock n roll vibe (I should know since I play them everyday).
@@CDRW24 rock is a broad term. Rock and roll is a verry specific niche same with something like nu metal, being part of rock but part of a sub genre of heavy metal. So megaman has rock music in it not necessarily rock and roll.
@@phillipmartinez2436 Perhaps, but my point is that most of the games don't seem to have rock music so I personally disagree with the first statement.
Will they ever make a Mega Man game with more than 8 main levels? I don't understand how it could possibly be worth the price for what is ultimately a lack of content as a whole
I personally wish they redid what they had in MegaMan 3 with the remixed stages that had classic fights.
Or like MegaMan Zero 3, where after a set of 4 stages you had to fight 3 classics, then after another set of 4 you fight 3 guardians, then it gets to the final stages
DarkDreamT2 ZX Advent
@@MrStokes I don't wanna count that because it's technically a metroidvania and therefore a different genre.
They could always add in more SIDE levels, like in MM8.
Just talked to executive producer of Megaman 11. There actually 3 Wily Stages. And the reason why is because of stage length.
There's 4 actually.
The "Super Charge shot" isn't exclusive to the Double Gear technique. The regular Power Gear has it too, you just barely have time to charge it before the meter fills.
I haven't played a MegaMan game since like 3 or 4.
The aesthetics of this game are fvuking awesome.
The colors. the art design Are all completely amazing looking.
It's like you pick it up and even though it's challenging and I'm playing it casually it just feels well made.
I hate when people say the double gear system is 100% not necessary to beat the game. It may be 97% unnecessary, but theres one section in level 2 of wily's castle where the speed gear is totally needed to make it through
I just received my copy but I won't be able to get it at the post office for another 5-6 hours oof
I don't blame them, I'd probably play it safe to since this is the first game in 8 years.
It seems Capcom went through effort to balance it out for all players, and it is manageable without the Double Gear as I have went through the game without them. The Double Gear system seems to be mixed between players. I don't mind it, but I don't have to rely on the Double gears either.

An oversight on our part. It should be Liked-a-Lot
@GameXplain You should add it to the video's description.

I fucking love your reviews... you show true passion, and that's the only thing needed tl make a video like this
Seeing Megaman transform into a boss-like outfit reminds me of ZX and Battle Network. Great stuff there
I’m interested in getting this, I enjoyed the demo. Even though it took a while to get use to. I grew up on the Zero series so I’m more use to a having a sword instead of just the buster
I'm trying to decide on getting this on Switch or PS4.

I went with PS4 in the end but I may buy it again for Switch later! I wanted the PS4 theme lol

@@Joshyboy225 Oh thanks. It's my one of my favorite games ever, up there with Persona 5. It's dirt cheap so hopefully people give it a try it. (It's not for everyone but if you like getting lost in a beautiful world you will love it, it can get quite challenging though).
I never knew how to use the Double Gear technique until after beating the game. I skipped the tutorial at the beginning and never noticed the gear glow when I was low on health.
I mainly judge megaman games on how good the weapons are personally. These ones are looking hype!
All Capcom has to do, is make some DLC for this game. Release ProtoMan or Bass (if not both) with a couple of new stages telling us where they were during these events and boom, 10/10 game.
This video review is the Megaman 11 to IGN's Mighty No. 9. And although some of the critiques in both reviews are the same (MM11 plays it safe, some of the music/voice acting is off, etc.), I feel like this one does a much better job at justifying every critique. Now that I've played the game myself, I pretty much agree 95% on what was said. Thanks so much for the thoroughness! :-)
7:00 I played this on the PS4. I wanted to do Torch Man stage early on, and someone who knew the game suggested I leave that for later. _Trust me_
Which would you guys recommend , Mega man 11 or legacy collection. This is my first time playing a mega man btw :))
What age level is Megaman 11 mostly for? Look really difficult for kids
No Proto Man, No Bass, only 2 Wily Castle stages?
Richard Dickson There are more than two Wily Castle stages, but Ash was referring to full length stages.
Only in a video game universe would 'robots who overheat' be considered a more dangerous concept than 'robots with independent thought'...
It's crazy fun, and I say that as an eternal cynic.
Hori is going to get a large sales boost ;3 also, the last firmware update fixed the battery drain bug, just a head up for people worried about that and didn't hear about the fix. That's the thing about officially liscensed products, Nintendo helps with any issues.
The only complaint I have is the default controls. I had to change then immediately to B as Jump and A as Shoot.
Finally, a classic megaman game where the special weapons you get aren't freaking useless.
? Does anyone know what the bonus item is if you downloaded the demo then bought the game? Capcom said it would be in the sub menu? Thanks.
I'm loving the MM1-6 robots I am seeing in this video. Didn't see a Joe but I like those recycled bots with updated gimmicks
About 10 years since the last classic series Mega Man. 10 levels in Mega Man 11. I doubt each level took a full year to make. WE’VE BEEN GIPPED!

You are the only person who mentioned that run animation. Thank you! Since E3 I was like eeehhhhh...
lol better then the mega man voice from mga man 8
Oh God yes
I actually don't have a problem with Mega Man's voice in Mega Man 8 (though Dr. Light's voice was pretty awful). I honestly prefer it to this voice, where he sounds like he's 30.
@@FancifulDancingStar what planet are you on...he's Mega "Man", not Mega Girl. Yeah he sounds like X, but it's not such a bad thing compared to MM8 voice, even Roll's voice had more bass than his in that game
I know he's Mega "Man", but he's still a little boy. I won't deny that it might have been a little too high in MM8, but between sounding too high or too low, I'd prefer too high. But maybe that's just personal preference, I guess. I'm just tired of all these kid cartoon characters sounding so old, from Dipper Pines to the nephews in the new DuckTales. Clearly I'm apparently in the minority, and if this is what you prefer, that's fine, I guess. Everyone else does, too. But I feel I gotta voice my own disagreement about this, since deep voices for kid characters is a personal pet peeve of mine and not because I want to be a contrarian or anything, though.
@@FancifulDancingStar Mega Man sounds like he's about 13 in this game, not 30.
Love this game. I hope one day we get a game like MegaMan 64.

Thank god Keiji "Cancel it " Inafune finally has his grubby mitts off this franchise.
If there are no alternate paths or collectables how do the levels have great replay ability? Because of bolts? Sounds bias to me
It would be nice if this game had a stage editor mode, similar to Megaman Powered-Up.
Glad I watched this review. I've played the snes X games and most of the Zero games, but have never got around to any of the classic ones.
Really liking what I'm hearing, though. Gonna definitely give it a shot.
Why didn't he give it a rating? Did he like it or like it a lot?
I do find it interesting that "certain fan favourite characters" are totally absent, and that the game seems so short. I think I'll hold off on buying, for now.
But, if the game gets DLC that adds replayability via another two playable characters (which seems pretty likely to me), I'll definitely go all in at that point.
