    This is the best video I've found. I'm 30 and I'm going into my local shop to explore apprenticeship opportunities tomorrow morning. I've wanted to be a jeweler for my whole life and have finally made the decision to chase my dream. You're right. This is an antique trade... to practice this for a living is one of the greatest privileges in my opinion.Thank you for some of your knowledge.

      Sir i am from india and working in a jewellery company from 2 years . Here i only got to do to remove casting texture in pieces where it cant be polished. I also set/ repair fallen diamond in casting(wax set diamonds), but i want to become independent jeweler but its nearly imposible to learn whole work here. Jewellery schools are pretty bad here and also i cant afford one because i am getting paid only 18000 ruppes month or only 1 dollor per hour. Is it possible to get an apprenticeship to a expert jeweller outside of my country.

      Tom Sullivan is it a particular type of metal? And can I find this at a general hardware store? Thanks

      Daniel Ros I don’t think it really matters. So long as it’s sheet metal the concept it pretty much the same

    Mark I have question about a ring repair i would like too try top repair my self could you give some advice in doing this? I smached my ring finger and pinky at the nail . And in doing so I thought my ring would be fine. So i left it on what a costly mistake that was. So now i was in a panic to get this ring off as my fingers swells so i had to use wire cutters top cut it then bend it out so it would come off. Is there a way to just bend it back and soider it? Also there is Diamonds on top and its white Gold

      @markjeweller  10 років тому

      Hi mate you might have to put some metal in it to make it bigger to fit the finger but if you think it doesn't need to be made bigger you could shoulder it use a low melting point and you have to be Careful you don't burn the diamonds you can burn the polish off them so it looks milky they turn slightly white
