I’ve been using Traveling Mailbox for a few years already. It’s been pretty useful. I would recommend using them as well. I had a hic-up with them recently , but is due to the subcontractor who I think went south. But otherwise very good service and they corrected the issue in a VERY timely manner, like overnight….
There are a few dozen Retiree affairs Office RAO in the Philippines where US military veterans receive and send US Postal Service mail. I received US mail at : the RAO in Mabolo Barangay, Cebu; and at the VFW Post 2485 in Angeles City, Pampanga, Luzon. That mail is routed through the US Embassy in Manila. Took less than 10 days delivery from USA. I also shipped numerous parcels and boxed items from USA to through Cebu, using LBC. That mail and parcels, I sent in years 2018, 2019, & 2020.
This is something you do before going abroad. Establish residency and change of address thru post office and banks etc. I get DHL from South Dakota in about 5-7 working days. Very rarely need anything forwarded. Mostly just tax time.
I use the same service. Had it before I arrived in the Philippines. One piece of advice if you use this as your mailing service; if you request them to forward you important mail or a check always do it through FedEx. I usually receive it within 3-4 days. As an experiment I request a refund check from a closed credit card forwarded by regular first class mail by them. That was about a month ago. Still waiting. Just a tip
The US Postal Service has a free service called “USPS informed Delivery”. a free service offered by the US Postal Service, they don’t take any action just send you a photo so at least you could verify when one of the services are processing your mail
Hi Gio, I set up a virtual mailbox with Anytime Mailbox before moving to Thailand. It's very similar to the one you mentioned but they do not offer check depositing but I don't need that anyway. I paid like $100 for the entire year. So far it's been 5 months and I haven't had any issues. They have a lot of addresses too.
Gio, i enjoy your videos, quick question could not find answer in google, anyway will their address be accepted for US banking and social security receipts, or be flagged, currently using friend in USA, but he is moving soon and getting married
I’d be curious if selecting a state specific address that does not have an income tax would free you from filing a state return. I reside in Washington State in the US and I am not required to pay state income tax. That alone could more than pay for this service and then some.
South Dakota was the best.. IMO… no state income tax. They don’t tax social security. Solid digital mail box options. Easy to establish residency. When you get your your drivers license or state id…. You are going to “ travel abroad “… having no physical address but when you “ return “…. You say… I will return to South Dakota 👍🏻
I think there is more to it then just your address. I think you need a drivers license from that state and maybe register to vote there. I'm not totally sure.
@@GiointhePhilippines Each state has its own rules to establish residency. Some states require a physical address. I was not gonna rely on any family member to handle my mail. Just because they are family does not mean they are reliable
Hey Gio, I have anytime. It is a good service but I had issues with the address. The address is in a strip mall and each business is a number. So at the end of the address there is STE 22(the business number) and PMB 11 (private mailbox number). Some banks and the state of Florida had an issue with a PMB. I couldn’t register to vote and banks wouldn’t send credit cards to the PMB.
Sounds like a good alternative for expats. My biggest concern , would be identity theft by someone handling sensitive mail, like bank and credit cards, or social security communications.

Awesome Awesome Awesome ! Please keep us posted as you use this service more. One side question... If I am using an address in United States do I still pay state taxes?
You need to establish residence in the state. South Dakota is a great option. No state tax. Do not tax social security. Just need to go back every 5 years to renew drivers license. Most states have a problem with you not living in the state.
I was using a different Global mail service and recently my bank flagged it as "Not a physical address" and said unless I provide an actual street address for a house they would cut off access to my money. Does Traveling Mailbox provide you with an actual street address not flagged on the virtual address lists?
Wonderful ino Gio. I've been looking for something like this. Did you have to fill out that form for the usps while you were in the USA? Because the last time I researched one of them they required a notary republic signature?
This is a good option for expats. I'm planning on moving to the Philippines in a few years so I would like to have my mail go somewhere else rather than a friends or family's members house. Definitely gonna look into this! Thanks for the heads up! 👍👍
Didn't you have to have a notary to sign up for the service for them to be allowed to open your mail? I forgot what form it was. I tried about a year ago to have a traveling mailbox but they wouldn't let me because they needed that form notarized.
This seems like a really good service compared to others I’ve seen. Also, SDFCU is the best for expat banking - they will FedEx your debit card to an overseas address for free.
So you picked Florida. I'm assuming you don't have a US address then. Is Florida what you use for income tax purposes? I know Florida does not have state income tax.
Traveling mail box seems like it’s an amazing solution to my problem with the mail that ssdi sends me every few years and my credit card and debit card renewals. My question do I need to contact everyone who sends me mail and give them my new virtual address or does the forwarding happen for as long as I have the mailbox with traveling mailbox.
Thanks Gio this is an issue I have thought about. My big concern is a monthly check I receive in the US. Did I hear that they will forward it to my bank in the states to be deposited? How is this done if I don't sign the back of the physical check? I guess the other option is to just pay to have it forwarded to my address overseas but I'm sure that will change several times a year...
They would just write FDO (For Deposit Only) on your signature line. You don’t need to sign to have deposited into your account. I have had it done twice.
Wow! Your bank sent you a debit card through a mail service. The one reason I have a US address with my sister is for Bank of America. The rumor and fear is that you need a US address to have an account with the major banks and I've never been sure whether a mail service will count. The potential difficulties are too vast for me to experiment. Someday I may have to do it. Six years overseas and I don't get any mail anymore. Or at least my sister hasn't notified me about any mail for a couple of years. We will see when I visit her next month. Social Security has my Thai address as well as my credit union and retirement savings institution.
I've been using this for a year now. I was wondering how you would get a debit card or credit card. I had heard regular mail wouldn't make it to the Philippines. I guess I heard wrong. I like this service they are fairly quick. I had mail delivered to a friend in the past and he just put my mail in a pile and never told me I got mail. Now I'm back in the states for now.
I had to wait 3 months for a package last said he looked for me when was the only wait American living living in the area various racing they still deliver mail by pony Express😂
