That's makes me furious, don't know what to choose! I just love how image quality of videos looks with BMPCC 4K, everything is so smooth and pretty! Just don't know what exactly does that. When I see comparison with other cameras, I could instantly tell you which is BMPCC because of that unique look. And there's my problem, I want take proper pictures and shot videos. Sony A7III seems like choice for me, but the image is not that "plastic" like BMPCC have, don't know what to do really :/
Hello there, thanks for the comment and for stopping by. I know your frustration very well, it happens every time I change my gear eheh. What I usually do is to write down the priorities I want in my next camera and then get down to compromise something. Unfortunately there isn't the perfect camera. It also depends if you need the camera for work of for personal use. I had the Sony a7r III which was amazing for photography and took great videos too, so that was great for traveling and I did professional work with it too, like this video (ua-cam.com/video/MEONBkxjpak/v-deo.html). Then I bought the Blackmagic because my main income was coming from video making and I needed a proper video camera. but now when I travel I cannot take great pictures. So, it is a matter of priorities. Good luck eheh. Consider to subscribe to my channel as I talk about gear a lot ;-)
bmpcc 4k is actually a quite niche camera. it is designed for those who focus solely on video and short films thus missing a bunch of essential features on a modern mirrorless camera like autofocus and image stabilization, which is quite essential for most individual users. always choose A7iii unless you have a solid reason other than video quality
@@MamoAir I am at same position now. Highly pulled towards a7iii to grab in Xmas sales but BMPCC is stunning me with that buttersmooth pinching coloury footage style. Totally confused. My budget is £2.5k and don't know what to choose 🥺🥺

Hello there, thanks for checking the video. Yes, not being able to see a preview of the photos is a pain, but overall the quality is good! Enjoy the 6K. More videos to come and thanks for subscribing
It would be great if blackmagic gave us the option to set the stills button to one of the custom functions buttons since they are so much more easy to press
Hey Rob, thanks for checking the video. Yes, that would be ideal because that tiny button is horrible eheh. I also miss a timer to take selfies when I am on my own to be honest, to create thumbnails images. Then I would be happy as the photos are actually good enough. Please consider to subscribe to the channel for more videos like this 🙃
I dunno, I mean, some of those pictures looked incredible in terms of professionalism, of course it's not going to out perform a DSLR, because thos thing is a cinema camera, but I would be very pleased with those stills, better than a cheaper but decent DSLR or at the very least, on par with them. So I guess if your more of a stills person, don't go with this camera, although the option to do so on it is a decent bonus since I would assume most people who own and use this camera, are not photographers...u less they got ot for it's amazing aesthetics....wouldn't blame them!
Hi Alex. Thanks for the comment. I agree, the still look good enough but I wouldn't replace a dslr with it. Unfortunately the blackmagic is missing some photography key features. But still a decent hybrid
I like taking still photos with the BMPCC4K, because I can insert all my vintage Arriflex cine lenses with this camera. But the trigger button on the BMPCC4K is very weak and doesn't work mostly.

Hi. Thanks for the message. I mentioned that in the video. You cannot preview the photos in camera but only in post production. Now hit the subscribe button. Ciao 😉
still an awesome camera, considering its not meant for still photography. its a cinema camera for not much price. and if you want to shoot stills, you can post edit, because the sensor captures quite a bit. almost every post edits and grades and touches up anyways, so might as well get a quallity cinema camera like this , and go for it. everyone tries to make point and shoot dslr's cine cameras, and now its flipped
Hell yeah I rock the 4k too, please tell me your working on something like a short film or some narrative stuff! The 4k might not the best for photos personally I've got it to work but just video for me! So any narrative stuff up and coming?
Yes, I use this for videos too, of course. This was just a test I wanted to do as I couldn't find many answers on the subject online. It still takes good photos, for traveling etc... I do not really work on narrative films, apart from mini docs with real people talking. I prefer more action, sports kind of videos.
@@MamoAir I get it, your style fits that sports docu situation, have you seen that rock climbing one "Free Solo"? I rock climb and have quite a bit more footage of that sport honestly. Thanks for checking my stuff to man I appreciate it! Especially as a smaller guy!
I am thinking about buying this camera or the 4K bmpcc. I already own the bmcc2.5k and gh4. I am just trying to gather as much info as I can. I not sure if the bmpcc4k or 6K is a big deal enough for me to upgrade? What do you think?
Hello there, thanks for the comment. I am not sure if I can help you with this question I'm afraid as I never used either the gh4 and I used the BMCC 2.5K only one time years ago. I would say the 4K is definitely a step up from the 2.5K, either as resolution and frame rate. The quality of the image is stunning too and I personally think I do not need the 6K, as the 4K offers me anything I need at a cheaper cost. You might be able to find some comparisons may be on youtube?

What's the longest shutter speed one can do, can you do a few seconds (I heard you mention a little bit about it however just asking, it seemed like 1/30 of a second)?
actually you can go 1/24 and change fps to 5 (enable off speed frame rate). and for the opposite, the shutter speed can go 1/5000 by: clicking the shutter speed (be sure to change shutter angle to shutter speed in the menu), double clicking on the bottom left, the number with < >, then you will find the highest number could be 1/5000
doesn't some of the bmpcc (6k?) have an offspeed framerate of down to 1 fps? Could long exposure shots of down to 1 second be possible? Great video btw ;)
