I don't know why but instead of sadness I feel an immense joy hearing this song. It really touches my soul with unimaginable beauty beyond my comprehension.
It seems this song, as most of their catalogue, is devoid of inherent sadness/happiness. It can sound just mesmerizing, and can also sound joyful and sad at the same time. and we just happen to capture the mood we need to connect with, each time
The most beautifully and cleverly constructed track I've ever heard. New melodies introduced on the left, and basslines introduced on the right. Both meet in the middle and fade away while new elements continue to be introduced. Jacquard Causeway is a fitting name for this track.
Db X I also think that each element in this song has its own time signature. I don't know enough about musical construction to be sure about this, but I strongly suspect that to be the case - that or there are just multiple time signatures in the song.

And foolishness.
When I hear this, I imagine millions of recorded pieces of history (as well as all unrecorded history) reappearing as star matter in outer space, but instead of us being able to fully comprehend in any language which stories are being told - each star is twinkling a specific code or melodic line to communicate important details of the past. Like all history is just existing in deep space, eternally glistening in harmony and creating this song. I'm not even high, surprisingly.

It’s April 5 and it’s been a long winter where I live. I am sitting down on a Friday after a long work week and drinking some beer with this album on the turntable. Looking out the window it’s a cloudy grey sky and the trees are finally starting to grow buds. There is this huge contradiction of emotions happening right now as I’m growing up and have no clue where I’m going in life, but it’s spring and life is full of so much beauty like the changing of seasons. This song perfectly explains my feeling as I’m listening to it and getting goosebumps. Fucking love BOC so much
This is exactly how I felt when I first heard this song , this is exactly how I felt .. it felt like I was watching a lifetime pass by me , it felt like I had been watching things growing and dying .. this process of life going by . This development of life , the development of us and how we move as humanity , and how each individual grows and dies contributing to this strange movement , feeling like were in the middle of it .. and the feeling of this song feels like it’s venting of what’s to come for us in the future like when it builds up at 3:30 then up to the peak at 3:43 with it finally letting everything out .. it feels heavy , the song doesn’t need lyrics , yet i empathize with it . I’m okay with that sounding crazy but that’s just the best way I can describe this masterpiece of a song . It feels like I’m listening to somebody unburden their thoughts to me . I’ve never felt this way before about any particular song especially that of an instrumental track , this song is like no other , this is … really really different . Fuck I love this track >:::,) ! !
This song reminds me of our brains. like the clic clac reminds me of.memories we play in our head the flutes and stuff.are our thoughts the last bit is our breathing like this song breaths its so amazing
This brings me to tears sometimes... I had this in my life at the right time when everything I loved wanted collapsed... it was gloriously painful... this was the song that got me through but still it hits every cell in my body... it weaps with the song
I am not music master. I do not know which techniques used at this song. But i am sure, one of the most deepest song in the world. This track so different than other BoC songs. Still my #1 track since 2013. 3:43 hurts. I know, it will come with me to the grave, my love.
I wish this song existed in 1977 so it could've been included on one of the golden discs/records that accompanied the Voyager 1&2 space probes. Somehow it explains Earth and humanity in a way indistinguishable human words could not.
This is incredible. Despite being well versed in their early music, I never got a chance to properly listen to Tomorrow's Harvest. I say this perfectly shows Boards of Canada at their best, with their mixture of wonder and mystery.
This song is the best of the album, the clic clac clac remember me the heart beat you can hear doing a heart exam. Broken beats with the strings are perfect !

This video and the one for Amo Bishop Roden hit the nail on the head. You really do not have to be a genius to understand that we simply cannot continue living the way we are, and in fact becoming progressively more destructive to the Planet, to understand that things simply cannot carry on as they are, until the inevitable collapse of so many systems. We as fear driven consumers will not change, so change must happen from outside of us.
There's a conflict of textures I find very upsetting: the synths sound like if they were found in a lost tape from the 70's (love it), but the snare drum sounds like a 90's, hyper-compressed, HELMET-like sample. A hollow, raw, digital "in your face" sample.
I disagree, this snare sample reminds me of the eternal ride to the nothing. Like railroad wheels knock or something like this. TH had very dirty-textured sound at all.
