my dad has been using zoom for his client calls and everyday they always get sidetracked by our pets and for atleast 30 minutes it's grown men cooing over cats and our puppy.

I refuse to go back to pet-less classes. I'm a teacher, by now I know all my students' pets by name and camera attitude.
My biggest fear these days is that even if my camera and microphone is off, people on the call can still hear or see me lol

@tim M I've been complaining about this to my family. They think I'm just paranoid, but it's really specific stuff being recommended and stuff I hadn't put into the computer myself at all.
Also I got a mic to learn how to sing. Need to hear myself to correct my singing and was using OBS. Forgot that 3 years ago I had set up a twitch to the OBS and actually streamed me fucking around with my voice. I have no idea if anyone seen it, as I don't have access to the account anymore. I was making stupid voices and sounds like a kid to. I did kermit siren for awhile, so good luck to anyone if they were listening to that lmao.

My Japanese class is not on zoom, but my professor recorded videos of herself giving the lessons. She was in the classroom and even though it was a pre recorded video she STILL took attendance, and on top of that when she called out our names she looked towards where we all usually sit in the classroom

My mom is a elementary school teacher and everyday I have to help her with using Google drive and classroom cuz everything is new to her. I'm proud of her cuz now she knows how to animate her presentations.

For every day, as long as the student responds when I ask them a question, I have no problem. But we have oral exams coming up next Friday, and anybody who doesn't have a camera on isn't gonna get to do their exam. That's 50% of their final exam grade.
Linda C My teachers have us submit videos. And they can’t bring our grades down at this point anyways, it’s district policy. But thanks for the input.

I had one when I was teaching. My kids are all like 7 or 8. One of them, his background was changed suddenly when I looked at him. I realised after a while he was in the bathroom. Suddenly when I looked over he had put the laptop down on the floor stood up to pull up his trousers and we all got a full frontal. I had no idea what to do so I just scrolled the videos so I couldn't see anymore 😭😭

I thank jeebus every day that at least I'm not in school anymore, I couldn't imagine having to do what all these students/teachers are doing right now. Not that it'd be impossible, just the stress and frustration of it all over time would just be too much on top of this already stressful time. The thought of having my school/classmates in my personal space, my home, like that! Idk, I love me a good separation of work/school/personal life, this all would drive me nuts on to of worrying about everything else.

Yes it has indeed been a fun time! And on top of all having to learn to use things that we've never used before on the fly, it takes longer to type all of our exams and quizzes into the system, question by question. A huge time suckage
my friend literally went "i hate all these people. they're so dumb" in a zoom meeting consisting of our new classmates (she didn't realise her audio was turned on and called me). i don't think it's possible for us to make any friends now :(

We're using a similar application. We've been doing this since the middle of March. I am a little bit older, but pretty good with technology, for the most part. (Even if the phone is not glued to my hand every minute of my life). So I've been doing my classes every day, self taught, no major problems. This morning, one of my students put something in our chat Box that she meant to send to just certain students in the class, and it went to everybody. And it made me realize that a couple of weeks ago, another student said "oh, very nice" in the chat, and I had no idea what she was talking about. So they've obviously been chatting behind my back!😆

That's why I couldn't be more happy about using Teams instead of Zoom and we are not required to show ourselves. I'm always in my bed wearing my pijamas and no one needs to know it. You can even watch Netflix and it's all good.

My Zoom fail is getting disconnected from every call because of my bad WiFi
When I was taking classes at UW a few years back, we had to do our presentations on Zoom. I had to use the family computer because my laptop is old and crappy. I had to keep moving the mouse or else the computer would go into sleep mode, which would completely shut me out of the Zoom meeting. I finished my presentation for one meeting, but for one of the presentations I had to sit through for and critique as an audience member, my computer went to sleep and I had to reschedule another presentation meeting to redo :P What a waste of my time.
@@barbaro267 that's so annoying. I understand your struggle. My sister recently beat our poor computer to death so now I have no computer. (ya know the "hit it until it works" thing? Well she hit it until it worked but too much).

@@DixieSchizo I know. Everyone told her not to but she did it anyway and now the keyboard and mouse don't work and the USB/fan doesn't work either. It's more her computer than mine because she uses it so much but I'm just upset that I can't play sims.

Gen X here. Just 4 weeks ago, I picked up Zoom for online classes, and Premiere Pro for video lesson uploads and I have to say, the learning curve has been STEEP XD The difference between 4 weeks ago and today is like night and day. It doesn't matter how old you are - it's about jumping in and making it work
