I know a lady takes flowers she finds like that to the nursing homes and gives them out to the seniors there makes there day and the nurses too 😀😀😀❤️❤️

@@freakinfrugal5268 I think it’s perfectly fine and a great experience for the girls to have fresh flowers around the house growing up. It’s one of my fondest memories. May be odd to some. But I loved coming home from school and my mom would have the house clean and it smelled like yummy bleach, dinner ready and lots of times a hand picked bouquets of flowers and I love those memories. That’s home to me.

I think it’s awesome that you’re raising your kids to love vegetables and fruits. When my kids were little the always chose those over candy.
I’ve always worked minimum wage jobs and I’ll never understand the people that take the time to make trashed items unusable. We don’t get paid enough to care that much! Plus as a dumpster diver I wanted things to be taken. Thankfully I just moved to Maine and got a job at a natural health food store and they give employees the expired or damaged things! I love my job. :)

You are fortunate that your boss does that. Be grateful. Most companies rather toss them into the garbage. As for me, I would donate the stuff.
A few years ago, I visited Germany with a friend. Him, and I rose up early around four am to visit various towns during the early wakeing hours. We have noticed a few market places where they set out in front of there stores various breads, vegetables, and other food items for people that are less fortunate to take. This was all done around five o'clock every morning Monday through Saturday. I often wish that tradition would be practiced here in the United States instead of being tossed into trash cans.
You are superwoman, you look after daddy and the frugal babies and still you dive finding such Miraculous free foods. Well done frugal mummy 🛒🛒🛒🛒

One's mind tends to boggle as to how Frugal Daddy who has an obvious predilection for cakes, cookies and many of the delectable dumpster finds, remains so svelte and adonis like? I mean his abs are practically wash board, and his arms and chest remind me of a Roman gladiator, so sculptured and tight and rock hard. That’s not true!..I have worked in a produce department for 11 years and if the quality isn’t good we send it back or not put it out..the company I buy produce from is really picky about where they or who they buy it from.
Is it crazy that I think the Eucalyptus bath foam was the best thing-mostly because I didn't expect them and also I have a shameless love of bath and shower gels? I love those yellow cherries. I find them sweeter than the red. What a great dive! Interesting variety. To be honest it almost looks like the universe picked out a great party/spa weekend for you-the lights,flowers, bath gel, fruits, cookies, veggies and bread besides the meat for Frugal Daddy and pets. It gives me a thrill to see you get that. Tomorrow is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day! Wahoo!

I totally agree with what you said about how dirty the produce and vegetables could be in grocery stores. People are so quick to condemn dumpster diving but they have no idea of what the items have been through before they purchase them. Great solo haul today you got a lot of good stuff! See I work in a produce department and have worked for 11 years now and it’s not what you thing..I’m a produce manager and we go with quality and freshness and I care what goes out on the shelves for customers and if it doesn’t look good I send it back..

Amy you can trim the bottom of some the roses and stick them into a potato and they will start to root inside the potato. You just plant the potato and the rose becomes a rose bush. My niece did this when her husband gave her a bouquet of yellow and purple roses, and it worked...
Those bickets that the flowers come in make great wastebaskets! Get those too and donate tjem to the shelter so families have them in their new places!☺☺☺☺☺🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋

Frugal Mommy, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAY. I watched a Store Employee who was given a lettuce to put back PICK HIS NOSE AND THEN TRANSFERRED THE LETTUCE TO THAT HAND. That was many Years ago but I still remember it. I make sure to clean everything after I go in that Store. But you are Correct the food in the dumpsters are just as clean as in the Store. Keep on Diving.

Another good haul. Would love to go dumpster diving, but being disabled on on crutches and not a driver would be hard.
They could have donated so much of that good and those flowers could have been donated to old people's homes to make them look nice and bright and cheery.
Yellow roses were my mum's favourites, that's why I have a yellow rose in my garden in memory of her.

I used to do that with the flowers to .and keep all the plastic containers they come in for planting.just heat up a knife and poke holes in the bottom of them.

Lemon curd on those lemon cookie are a lovely dessert.
I went to a place that hands out fresh fruits and vegetables and the pears were a little bruised , the apples were almost perfect , there was strawberries that maybe had one or two bad ones per container , they had cucumbers , zucchini , little colored potatoes , colored carrots , bananas - really ripe , and cantaloupe , they had fresh herbs , tomatoes , they give out very little canned items . I picked up a cantaloupe that looked a little beat up , but when I cut it up it was so sweet , froze bananas for smoothies & banana bread , grated zucchini for zucchini muffins , The place they get it from sells organic foods and they also get some from local gardeners and farmers . They provide meals to people , showers and can have their laundry done . I and my Grandaughter are going to volunteer there soon .

Aw you were able to save some great food items! Sadly places around me such as cvs have been recently pouring spoiled milk all over the dumpster with food. In 100 degree heat it doesn’t end up nice. My aldi got creative and started smashing fruit on the cement next to the dumpster before throwing it away. Just gets worse with every time I try to find some fruits or foods

I have trouble regulating my body temp so carry a cold face cloth(wash cloth) with me. I wet it and usually put a few drops of lavender or sage essential oil then put it in the freezer. once frozen seal it in a few sandwich bags and it’s good to go 🤗.
I love how much you have been able to rescue from landfill. It’s criminal how much your big shops throw away.
In Scotland its law for the big shops to separate paper/cardboard from general waste. They are charged for any rubbish they put to landfill.
I think there is a push for it to be law for them to separate and recycle cans, plastics, paper, food waste too.-Although- many of them recycle anyway as do schools and council buildings.
My husband was head of recycling for the local council for many years and we were one of the first families in our area to have all the separate bins for recycling. We have 5 plus 2 composters 🤗. It’s second nature now to recycle all our waste and when shopping to choose products with least packaging.

I went away 4 a week & I had 1 indoor flowering plant. Don't know what it was but 4got 2 get someone 2 water it. When I got home it was bone dry, brown & laying flat & level with the pot. Got a can of room temp full strength (lol) Coke. Poured it in plus watered. The next day it was standing tall & healthier than me! Lol
