OMG, I've been holding off a year to buy these waiting for your review...lol. I will buy them now.
haha sorry for the tardiness! :)
Used them on a Harley Dyna 49mm..all I did was change the o-rings to the Harley factory and fit absolutely perfect..no issues..👍
I always found AIR Caps the Best . Air provides a Rising Rate spring assist . Careful attention to Oil Level when changing it dials those Right In .
many ways to skin a pig hey. Cheers for dropping in
FYI vibra tite would be a better option than blue threadlocker, the locker will become hard and brittle over time where as the vibra tite will stay gummy and is purpose made for screws backing out.
you could be right, ive never heard of the stuff. thanks for the tip
Awesome Skids, been waiting for your long term review. You’ve sold me!
Cheers for hanging in there :) Hope you enjoy it!
For the first time I tried a different brand of brake pads. They are pants!!! The Brembo’s have been top notch for 7 years and unless quality drops I’ll stick with what I know works. A good review and hope it reminds us that bling isn’t always perfect or will work!
cheers Jimbob
I had a 1991 DR650(the one before electric start) it came with the fork adjustment and a few other things that my 2013 doesn't have. It's like the DR devolved. Love your video mate. I got myself some of those eBay fork caps.
but but, electric start!
Put a set of these on my '19 DL650 last year and they've definitely helped dial out the front end dive I was experiencing with the stock set up. Next farkle is definitely progressive springs though 🤙
Thanks for sharing
Been looking forward to this follow up on the preload adjusters. Great vid as always, Skids!
Thanks Jason
Sweet as...Tips n trix always handy to get some. Cheers bro.
Any time!
Great demo! Thank you for all the work you put into these 🤙
Glad you like them!
Thanks dude I’ve been eyeing them off👍
No problem 👍
Hell yaaa,
Thanks SKIDS 🤘🏻 🌟 🤘
Good reviews take time. Thanks Skidin Dude!👍

Looks like I'm dumb. Bought these for using on a road bike, but thought they were too hard to adjust and added oil to lubricate the internal shaft. Now the bolt turns more easily, but the thing will probably twist by itself while I ride. Never thought the (vertical) pressure of the suspension would make the (horizontal) threads turn by themselves.
Thanks for the heads up. Gonna disassemble them and clean the oil out before installing on the bike.
Great Job Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Nice work.👍
Thanks 👍
Very cool, I was just looking at these.
I like your logical common sense style of mechanics 👍
Question. Have you done any valve work to your forks? If stock how does the rebound feel with the added preload?
I find the forks major flaw other than mushiness is high speed compression. I know race tech recommends drilling the bleed holes on the damper rod larger when adding their emulator for this issue. Washboards with there fast spike are a nightmare on these forks. Pretty much like a solid strut for forks.
I have Teknik valves (same same) with the damper rod drilled. But never them that bad without valves.
What do you think of the emulators that drop into the bottom of the suspension?
Thank you! Learned so much from you! I'm about to install the cogent front fork upgrade with DDC and this Chinese preloads.
Glad I could help
Good stuff, thanks!
thanks for watching
Blue loctite!! Will give that a go to solve mine backing out!
Let us know 👋🏼
I imagine not every knockoff cap adjuster is the same. Did you buy a few from different sources or was there only one and if so could you provide a link? Or do you think it doesn’t matter that much?
I’m fairly happy with having the forks sprung for my weight with the Cogent DDC. These might put the finishing touch on them.
I also just pulled my Cogent shock to send to them for servicing. It’s way overdue. Should feel like all new suspenders come spring time. Can’t wait for this shit winter to be over with! Haven’t had the pig out since the beginning of December 😢
I reckon all these chinese caps tht look similar to these will be basically the same real world use
Thanks Skids, great tip!
Happy to help!
Hey what phone mount do you have and how does it perform? Back to to adjusters. I saw the install vid but deciding I have a metal lathe I machined some acetal spacers about 1''. I cant be buggered screwing around adjusting shit, But they worked a treat for me. I can see they would be a good alternative though. Thanks for the vid, well done.
This beast, it is excellent.

Looks great. Quick question where did you find the internal spacers?
answer is here

@@SKIDSnSTUFF When you put the new caps on with the adjusters and you Loctite it, you added three spacers on both sides that’s what I need
@@cv-vv5wp anywhere that sells washers n bolts
awesome, I'm a buy me a pair
Wouldn't you make the adjustment with it in the fully raised postion before installing it? This way you could add more pre-load. I see in the video that you have it fully down which would be added pre-load, where all you could do is make is softer?
in fully raised position you could ONLY ADD preload. I like to start at about the second line because you can then add plenty (up to 6 or 8mm) or subtract if needed. Also keeps max threads engaged to help stop the self turning probem
@@SKIDSnSTUFF thanks!
thanks for the video, other than the caps are your forks stock standard ?
Dude! 0:53 looks narly as fuck! I cant even do a slow full lock right turn without nearly ( and ) falling off.
I love riding, but starting at 43 has its “shoulda started younger” vibe for sure.
Dont feel too bad, slow speed balance stuff is the most difficult part of motorcycle riding for sure
@@SKIDSnSTUFF thanks for the empathy. It’s been fine for 2 years, then I drop the bike 4 times in a period of 2 days practicing full lock right turns. It actually started fucking with my brain. 😂
I believe SKIDS started riding at 38 ?
Think I read that on some old vids.

sneaky treat for the lads :)
Great video, i want to use it in my old Honda NX650...my big doubt is what oil forks to use, i use 10w but i feel it some tought, do you think that i could use 5W and adjustable preload fork caps to try improve the behaviour of my forks?
I don't know anything about that bikes suspension sorry. If it has valving, 5W may be worth a try.
Do you have a link to the ones you bought ?

Yeah just be careful I ordered some of another listing and got a set with a tiny circlip instead of a pull pin and aluminum washer...will re order theses ones
I tried both $200 Cogent Caps and $30 dollar Chinese caps.....get the Chinese. Sorry Cogent, I love you.
good call, thanks for the confirmation
Seems like an inexpensive, and quick, improvement to the front end. Emulators are expensive as hell, and I likely won't even afford them this year, but do you think these preloads will help if I already have the correct spring rate for my weight, etc?
Then add the emulators next year? Long-term goals, mate...
These help if you want to fine tune your preload easily. Or change the preload to suit load. A spacer cut to size will also work.
You might like to check our 4 top mods video.
All preload does is increase the force required to start the shock moving. So it will feel that the front end is harder and decrease sag.
The kg/mm of the spring remains the same. So after the initial load the springs will move the same per kg.
The best solution is to fit the right spring rate for your weight. For the DR: springs to suit your weight, DFX valves and fork brace 😁
But if it works for you…👍🏻😁
Yep ya definitely want to have the correct spring rate installed
unless you have progressive springs, and that is another can of worms
@@sebasbecu progressive springs just change the shape of the deflection v force curve. Usually spring behaviour is “linear” (but in reality have a slight curvature). Progressive have more curvature. Ie deflection per kg declines with increasing force. Progressive springs are probably good for the DR where fork movement is only 8”. I have linear 😔
