Wait, for cross porting if one side fails then it’s gonna contaminate and potentially ruin the other transaxle as oil is exchanged between them. And not to mention the displacement doesn’t change as the price increases… Doesn’t seem like an upgrade to me…

However, in a high-use setting, the cross porting extends the life of the transmissions that already have a very low failure rate.
