The 23 running around 30mph slower than rest of the field and the 24 leading a superspeedway pack with team orders at Martinsville was totally ridiculous.
The bot comment along with NASCAR execs simping for the playoffs literally in the midst of all of this controversy happening leads me to believe nothing can destroy this format in their eyes. I don't get where the money comes from. Nascar executives make bank off the TV deals, so they don't care. But why are the TV deals lucrative if less people are watching? My only guess is the amount of fans that watch for anything other than wrecks is very small. So ratings won't suffer for this.
@@quesopasso That's easy. The ratings don't matter directly for making money. The massive TV deal creates an influx of cash obviously. The reason the new deal is so big is for two reasons: 1. The broadcasters see that NASCAR "makes an active effort to grow". So they feel comfortable investing in something attempting to grow. 2. The ratings have increased over the past two years. They ignore that ratings are HALF of what they were in 2014 because things look "good" right now. On top of all this, race tracks earn 65% of broadcast revenue and NASCAR owns a majority of the tracks. So the money tracks make from broadcasting AND at-track revenue goes to NASCAR as well. Believe me, the execs have set things up to line their pockets just fine.
I FEEL your passion Radman. I think NASCAR wants the magic of the 1992 Winston Cup championship battle where one of six drivers could win the championship, and it ended up that Alan Kulwicki won in amazing fashion. Here’s the thing though: That culmination didn’t happen in 3 races or 10, but 29 (the length of the points-paying schedule that year). It was pivotal not because of the thrilling championship battle but because it was a “changing of the guard,” Richard Petty’s last race and Gordon’s first in the #24 DuPont car. All in a race that organically happened. It didn’t have to happen that way, Kulwicki or Bill Elliott, Davey Allison could have clenched before Atlanta but they didn’t. But it organically happened and it was beautiful. To think how poorly the sport is run and managed 32 years later…
And some series in baseball and hockey don’t even make it to the “game 7”. Needs domination, like we talk about the Bulls and Oilers dynasties because of that.
Auto racing is not football or basketball. The game 7 thing was always stupid to me. If I wanted to watch a gimmicky playoff system, I'd watch the other sports. I'm not here for that.
2004-06 format, or the Full season Winston format I wish we still had. I just hope NASCAR comes to their senses eventually and admit the system is broken. But I doubt that'll happen because Steve Phelps, Steve O'Donnell, and Elton Sawyer are so delusional and too comfortable with chaos.
I hope so. The playoff system is for the moments that don’t even last that long. Full season points format would create better cleaner racing instead of wreckfests
The sport also needs greatness. Like say what you will about the chase. We did witness greatness with Jimmie Johnson going 5 in a row. Which was great for the sport when you think about it. This does not even allow that at all.
Dude, I felt this... I decided months ago that I would be done watching NASCAR after this season (because of SHR shutting down). I was thinking lately that maybe I'll continue watching after this season. Yesterday helped me make my decision. This Sunday will be the last race I'm watching outside of Daytona 500's. I was so disgusted with what happened. I know NASCAR could care less about my opinion and me stepping away from watching the sport. Thanks for helping me make a decision.
I wish it was the 15 years ago Brad K inside that helmet instead of present day mature, team owner Brad K. All 3 of those Chevies would have been junked LOL.
This whole system is nothing but one controversy after another. The fans hate it and the drivers hate it. Get rid of this playoff crap and just give more points for wins.
I personally hate any playoff system that’s been in place . NASCAR needs to go back to a slightly reformed version of the old Winston era of points system. These championships don’t mean the same as any won before 2004. A championship should be earned over an entire season of consistent performance. A championship in racing should not be earned because you placed high in a few races.
Right I was going to say what is this guy Matt kenseth hater I mean sure you only had one win but he finished outside of the top 15 I think what twice the whole season that's called consistency my man you don't see much like that anymore nowadays and if you do it don't mean anything cuz obviously you can be eliminated in One race like this garbage format we got now and I've been watching NASCAR longer than a lot of these UA-camrs have been alive so I got a little frame of reference here
@ my bad, I thought that started in 2002 for some reason, I was also born in 1996, so all those early year things for me is hard to remember. But point remains the same, need to go back to the Winston style with some reformed version.
Feels eerily like the Bowyer/Gordon scenario from years ago. If Byron gets penalized I would be stunned, he was actively blocking and changing his line. Bubba dropping pace so radically was suspect (would love to know if the tire was actually flat), and the Dillon/Chastain radio chatter was bonkers. Regardless, Bell clearly did the infamous wall ride, data clearly shows that. Although I do feel bad for him, he didn't have to do that with how much he cleared Bubba. Gotta love it! Great video and insight as always!
Radman... this is one of your most passionate videos that I can last recall. Deep down you're a huge passionate Nascar fan and don't ever let a person tell you otherwise. Keep up everything you do with your desire to want to make the sport grow and thrive. One thing I've realized from your comments related to the race manipulation... does this thing matter with the context of who is remaining? It's a lose-lose situation, you can't put a driver in without a team or manufacturer getting what they want. Chevy wanted a Chevy car in, Toyota wanted another JGR car in and both Fords are already locked into the final round. You can't throw Larson or Elliott in because Chevy gets what they still wanted and you can't throw Hamlin in because that's another JGR car in and they get what they wanted. From where I see it, any changes now might not get us anywhere better... the damage is already done. Nascar NEEDS to control their product, everyone sees what little control they have now. This will only get worse if change doesn't happen and their ignorance/arrogance get the better of them. I love Nascar but we need the right people making the right calls in place, not about Sunday night, but with everything else. TLDR: The damage has already taken hold, but Nascar needs to take control to prevent anything worse... keep up your work Radman
The 24 was damn near sideways for 5 laps until the 1 and 3 lined up behind him. He KNEW they weren't going to pass him allowing him to slow down enough to keep the car under him. He wasn't innocent, he knew what was going on.
@@outlander330cc maybe u should read my comment again buddy. It’s quite obvious the 3 and 1 weren’t passing the 24. My point was that if there’s no radio communication coming from the 24 about that then what will NASCAR use to justify a penalty against the 24. By the rules the 24 did nothing wrong
3 race Final 4 with regular season champ getting automatic bye to round of 8. 1 race wildcard with bottom 6 in playoff pts to run for final 2 spots in Round of 12. Also give playoff pt for most laps led
Larson's Case for the championship 2024 Points per race: 1st Avg Start. 1st Poles 1st Avg Finish. 1st Wins 1st (6wins second place is a tie with only 3) Average running position 1st Laps lead 1st Laps in top 15 1st Average driver rating all year 1st (never left the top 3) Top 5s 1st Top 10s 6th
Kyle Petty said it best earlier today. “You know the playoff system and you know the rules when you roll into Daytona in February. It’s not surprise. The rules at the start of the year were no wall riding. Which Bell did. Chevy wasn’t the only one who followed team orders and manipulated the race Toyota and Bubba did as well. He slowed down to let Bell by. I think NASCAR’s thinking was that both Chevy and Toyota manipulated the race so let’s just treat those as “offsetting penalties” and then penalize the 20 for wall riding. I hope and think NASCAR will penalize the 1,3 and 20 on Wednesday for manipulating the race and I think they will be pretty hefty penalties as all 3 had pretty clear radio communication about it. The 24 didn’t do anything wrong. So why should he get penalized. The 20 rode the wall which is against the rules.
This might be all over the place but I had two full thoughts while typing this all out lol so just bear with me lol especially with the cut from talking about Joey Logano to the ideal worst season possible to win a championship. I really respect your rant at the end Millad. I love the sport too, I would love to see it just return to fun every week and just racing, no crazy artificial excitement format for 36 races when it would be so much nicer to follow along to points standings across a full 36 races and enjoy the wins drivers are earning, and not just to make it to the next round and stop trying for 2 weeks (cough cough Joey Logano) and I’m calling him out a bit but he is my favorite driver, he is just playing the system even though I know he hasn’t been great all year. Both in 2022 and this year in the Round of 8. He wins at Las Vegas, does nothing at Homestead because they’re 100% focused on Phoenix. And Martinsville he is just fast, because he and Penske are really good there so it’s not challenging for him to achieve a good finish like last night. You could have a season look like this: Race 1/36 - Daytona 500: Win Races 2-26/36 - DNF Playoffs Begin: Round of 16: Race 1/3 (27/36) - Win Races 2-3/3 (28-29/36) - DNF Round of 12: Race 1/3 (30/36) - Win Races 2-3/3 (31-32/36) - DNF Round of 8: Race 1/3 (33/36) - Win Races 2-3/3 (34-35/36) - DNF Championship 4: Race 1/1 (36/36) - Win And you’d win the Championship right then with the stats minimum looking like this: Wins: 5 DNFs: 31 Top 5s: 5 Top 10s: 5 Laps Led (if you only led the last lap of each race win): 5 Average Finish (if every race was a 36 car field): 31.138 Average Start (if every race was only 36 cars and you started at the back in all): 36 This would be fucking horrendous, I know that was long winded but this looks like ass for a season but it’s a thing that could happen with this format :/
I really hope the playoffs end this year. I just don’t understand how one race decides it cause it puts the rest of the season to shame and it shows it doesn’t mean anything. A championship should be giving to the person the best THROUGHOUT the year.
Well, Milito had spell hard words, but it is the true, probably the Nascar's leaders won't see this, but dang it... should I still watch this stupid show?
I say you are wrong with dq the 24. It should be dq the 3 and 1 team that way, no other team would agree to ever want to help another team get into the next playoff round. The 24 should not be penalized because he literally just did the best he could and ran 100%.
What would have happened if Chase Elliot or even Larson went on to the championship 4? Would that deal between the Chevrolets have been off? That's what I thought about at least.
NASCAR is in the entertainment business and don't care about respect and don't care about the drivers. Just cares about the money that they make off the drivers and off the fans. NASCAR is not a motorsport no more, it's entertainment just a show the drama the fights it's basically just WWE, there has to be a story on drivers. If it want respect you're going to have to bring back a long season championships. This format allows no respect, it a format doesn't care about your opponent doesn't care about the car doesn't care about anyone except yourself. When it was a long season championship with no stages and you had respect because everyone's out there trying to get the best finish they can and driver's and give and take. The chase format is the starter of this for less respect and to see race manipulation. The 1,3,24,23,and 20 be Disqualified and look at the points and see who in.
I feel your your Pain, they have to listen eventually, I hope they do. I want this sport to succeed, and it’s either listen to fans, change and get better, or die, and be forgotten, it’s the only two choices NASCAR has, I just hope they’ll make the right choice when the time comes.
Not Sure where the "just broke the seat" on the JGR engine popped up because they said when the penalty was handed down that the engine was rebuilt, not just seal broken but they rebuilt the engine before NASCAR inspection.
The only way to get rid of it is to not watch it. Say what you will about the chase, like the full season did allow for domination. Like it gaves the 5 peat from Jimmie. Dynasties, greatness, and wars is superior to have clutch moments every week. Nascar doesn’t understand that some championships have dominators and they sell. The clutch moment should be rare but it’s not.
I get where you're coming from using the Hamlin penalty, however, I think it's apples and oranges. My reasoning is that it was Denny Hamlin's engine which had the infraction and there were no other engines or cars involved. It would be lmore like what happened with Bowman's DQ after the Roval. His car didn't pass tech. Likewise, Hamlin's engine didn't pass tech in the sense that they broke the seal. In Byron's case, the infraction doesn't even involve anything wrong with is car whatsoever. It would be two OEM "teammates" that broke the rules, which even that is hard to actually claim if you start down the road of blocking being a legal move, as well as OEMs and owner teammates working together to "manipulate" the race by staying in line, pushing each other, controlling lines and even blocking the runs of other cars at other tracks, like the drafting ones. In principle, that sort of on track strategy is the same, just under different conditions. Why is okay at some tracks, but not others? I'm actually kinda grateful this has happened because it's sort of forcing NASCAR into a very uncomfortable position where they might have to change the format whether they want to or not because of how much the fans are pushing back. And if Joey happens to win (even though he does have 3 wins by the way, the same as all the other drivers in the final 4, it's really going to add fuel to the fire. Oddly enough, the best outcome for NASCAR is for Blaney or, ironically enough, Reddick to win the title. If either of the other two win, NASCAR is going to hear about it in the off-season. Who knows, maybe the OEMs want the change too? Maybe they're purposely pushing the issue to force the change?
I would love to think it’s the end of the playoff system, but I doubt it. NASCAR seems to be doubling down on how great the format is and are calling us bots for criticizing it. I don’t know why it’s so difficult to have a season long championship format. Just add more bonus points for wins and maybe even keep the stage points. It’s not difficult.
If you eliminate the 20 and 24, then the 5 gets in. But that solves nothing right? Cause then Chevy still gets a car in, probably an even BETTER contender than Byron? There was no winning in any call. Love this rant and completely agree. I personally don’t HATE the playoffs, it DOES make things exciting. BUT i’d make it less drivers, take away “win and you’re in,” and then have the championship also be a round of 3 races…
Man, that's crazy.....I know what would help. If you dropped another NASCAR 2000 video. That'd make you feel all better.....until the pit crew screws up 😂
NASCAR is so wild. It’s not like they were running illegal parts or nitrous or something. They used strategy. Which is how you win wars, games, competitions, etc. Why is blocking for your team mate or “riding the wall” illegal?
Don't leave Hocevar out of this. 1 and 3 made the wall of Chevy behind Byron, but Hocevar sat there too and kept Keselowski pinned on the bottom. He is just as guilty.
One could only hope!. Also to the people who say Byron shouldn’t have been penalized ask SHR 2022 or the parties involved in the spingate situation in 2013 if nascar cares who or who wasn’t involved in race manipulation
They need to just go back to more like a cumulative points format. Racing should be based on consistency and performance week in and week out in my opinion. Not someone being lucky a couple weeks and happening to win a championship.
23 car tire was not going down. Remember when they said the tire was going down join join this is the same thing as spin gate. People are nipping the points. Couldn’t NASCAR use this against the teams in the lawsuit you think
You can also look at spin gate as precedent for punishing the beneficiary car in a similar scandal. Bowyer spins to prevent Newman from winning to benefit MTJ. I believe MTJ was bumped from the playoffs even though he was theoretically a bystander to his team’s detrimental actions.
One difference is that it was on the same team. This is the same manufacturer. Eehhh still hella sketch but how do you punish Chevy and toyota as a whole
If this ends the playoff format, where does Nascar go without going backwards? Plus, how do you prevent this? Nascar should just put a higher authority on the rules. This just shows that drivers and teams can easily manipulate the race.
The bots thing…….. I just…… I cannot, I truly just cannot, I had a little bit of hope that maybe just maybe this is enough of a mess that nascar would change the format, after hearing that yeah no nascar has made their bed and they’re willing to lay on it no matter if the house is burning down around it
Why can’t NASCAR change their mind about the championship 4? Also I get what you’re saying about Byron being the beneficiary of cheating, but I’ve never liked the concept of someone getting penalized when they did nothing wrong. That should NEVER happen.
Who do you think NASCAR should put in the championship for if they don’t like William Byron if the penalty goes through, who else is eligible, it wasn’t a put a scandal on Sunday scandal on Sunday
If there’s any hope for something that can be done for my bet for Christopher Bell to win the championship FanDuel has not been officially settled by now which is odd because usually it’s on the spot so that means that there’s probably something coming
I feel like nascar need to fix it playoffs format like not having a win or you in format during regular and playoffs season. Have the top 12 locked in by points. And last 4 wildcard spots like they have in 2011-2013.Instead of having one race to determine a champion how about the 1st round of the playoffs 3 races top 16 drivers start and end of round 1 cut down to 8. Round 2. 3 races top 8 drivers start and end of round 2 cut down to 4. And round 3 final round 4 races 4 drivers the driver with the most points wins the championship. Or go back to the chase format. Either nascar need to do something.
Honestly, just the top 10 in points after 26 races run for the championship, no wildcards. And if you really need a wildcard, take the two drivers with the most wins outside of the top 10 but inside the top 25 in points, use them as the wildcard teams. Drop the win and you're in/you advance to the next round, let the teams run for points and whoever is above the cutoff moves on, keep the tiebreakers they currently have (highest finish that round followed by most stage points). As for the final four races being used to determine the championship... That's pretty good, and I would add that NASCAR should use each of the four major track types (superspeedway, 1.5 mile, road course, and short track).
nascar should just go full 'Mr McMahon' and be the villian we already know they are they can be like; "yeah we put out a caution, so what??" "hey you can't have a final 4 without a chevy" their intro music would be "No chance" or the nWo theme
Let's talk about the aspect NO ONE is discussing here! NASCAR is pushing the new gambling aspect, to include having the on air commentator's talking about the driver betting odds for the race. Imagine if you had bet money on Brad K to finish top 5... then had to watch the 3 & 1 do what they did to manipulate the race finish. What say y'all? *thanks*
RealRadman, please realize one thing. The problem with losing viewers isn't that the system used to be good, it's that everyone watches nascar for Dale Jr. who quit racing in 2017 and a whole bunch of his fans quit too because it's already boring to watch. Imagine the old system in current times. For example Larson dominating every year would be the most boring series of races IN THE WORLD and NASCAR would lose even more viewers than it has lost now if we had fair champions that everyone would get tired of watching. Half the fans right now are Hendrick's. Imagine now what would happen if Hendrick retired from the sport. GET YOUR HEAD ON STRAIGHT AND DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PLAYOFF FORMAT
Everyone talks about the shenanigans, but not that Ford saved face by not being a part of that nonsense. 2 solid contenders while your competitors look really bad. DARK HORSE had a solid debut regardless of next week
Been keeping track of my own points system this year. In my system, Larson needs to win AND have Christopher Bell finish 22nd or worse. If Larson doesn't win, Bell would be the champion. 🤷♂
Imagine operating a hot air ballon, you want to go higher but instead of just dropping the sand bags, you just exhaust all the fuel you've got. That's basically Nascar, they want to sport to grow yet stubborn enough to cling on to the very thing that's impeading its growth. Nascar has made it clear that they've pretty much hardwired the playoffs into thier sport no matter how many times we've complained. So you know what? fine, let Nascar rot in thier own sins, may as well vote with your wallets and eyes and stop watching Nascar. There's no use trying to help someone that can't help themselves.
Honestly I would prefer a season long championship. Kinda tired of seeing a driver have a dominant season and getting screwed over by a round to round system. (not a bot fyi nascar)
What they need to do is Bowman and Bell are out and are fined along with Dillon Chastain and Wallace.... Larson's In but while we're at it, boot Logano as well... A driver who was running 15th to 20th in points all year long regardless of wins does not deserve to be driving for a championship... When the NASCAR point system was not a joke (Winston Cup style points or even the Chase point system ) Logano wouldn't have been close to being in the champ 4... Blaney and Reddick deserve to be there... It needs to be Blaney, Reddick, Larson and either Hamlin or Elliot.. This is coming from a Kyle Busch fan so no I'm not on the Elliot band wagon nor am i a fan of Hamlin... With the way the points are, I know It's not realistic but I think long time fans will know where I'm coming from.
I would love to see the end of the phony playoff system but the Chase and Latford systems weren't "entertaining" enough ugh. It's become so bad to where the broadcast focuses more on the playoffs than the actual race itself now. Martinsville was finally good again but instead the phony playoffs stand in the way of a good headline for a change.
18 different winners this season. Is that a record? I doubt you will see another 10 race winner? I doubt you will see drivers win 50 in a career. I see the possibility of someone winning 5 championships with less than 25 wins, In the end the Hall of Fame will be watered down just like the Chase
Byron and Bell drove their guts out and I have no issue with either one of them. Everything else that happened was pure garbage. Including Nascar's call.
NASCAR really need start thinking about the format and go a different direction with it or change it completely cause I not gonna watch next season with the same format and same bullshit as well
I say they should not do the playoff system and go back to the Winston-Cup championship. There is no need that NASCAR to try and make a game 7 out of a Motorsport compared to stick and ball sports. I mean, I love my football and my baseball, but. NASCAR You need to be different compared to Baseball and football. You do what you made NASCAR from the 1990s and too 2000s.
I hate this stupid playoff system. Why not just save all of the teams millions and have just 17 races? How many championships would Dale Earnhardt have using this current playoff system?
I think playoffs in football, baseball, etc. serve at least some purpose. In Motorsports, it serves zero purpose whatsoever. It’s all just manufactured, illegitimate entertainment
The thing I keep coming back to is….why? Genuinely, that’s not rhetorical. WHY does NASCAR insist on this format? I literally cannot think of a reason other than ego. Drivers don’t want it. Fans don’t want it. Pundits don’t want it. And as pointed out in the video, it’s not like viewership has increased with this format. There is just no objective benefit that I can deduce with this dogshit format. I need someone to explain why they insist on keeping it.
The 24 didn't do anything wrong. I agree, the playoffs is a broken system and does not award greatness. The 20 being penalized was the right call, and I'm sure something will come out this week for the 1, 3, and 23. But the 24 litterly did nothing wrong.
The 23 running around 30mph slower than rest of the field and the 24 leading a superspeedway pack with team orders at Martinsville was totally ridiculous.

And how are u going to prove that? There’s no radio communications from the 24 team that incriminate them.
@@MoxJesterMaybe watch the race? Austin caught him like nothing and had to jump on the brakes to keep from going through him.

You could have a season look like this:
Race 1/36 - Daytona 500: Win
Races 2-26/36 - DNF
Playoffs Begin:
Round of 16:
Race 1/3 (27/36) - Win
Races 2-3/3 (28-29/36) - DNF
Round of 12:
Race 1/3 (30/36) - Win
Races 2-3/3 (31-32/36) - DNF
Round of 8:
Race 1/3 (33/36) - Win
Races 2-3/3 (34-35/36) - DNF
Championship 4:
Race 1/1 (36/36) - Win
And you’d win the Championship right then with the stats minimum looking like this:
Wins: 5
DNFs: 31
Top 5s: 5
Top 10s: 5
Laps Led (if you only led the last lap of each race win): 5
Average Finish (if every race was a 36 car field): 31.138
Average Start (if every race was only 36 cars and you started at the back in all): 36
This would be fucking horrendous, I know that was long winded but this looks like ass for a season but it’s a thing that could happen with this format :/
I really hope the playoffs end this year. I just don’t understand how one race decides it cause it puts the rest of the season to shame and it shows it doesn’t mean anything. A championship should be giving to the person the best THROUGHOUT the year.
16:29 to the end, I felt this in my soul.
Same here, that hit deep
It’s exactly how most fans feel too
Well, Milito had spell hard words, but it is the true, probably the Nascar's leaders won't see this, but dang it... should I still watch this stupid show?
Epic rant, hit the nail directly on the head. Man of the people
I say you are wrong with dq the 24.
Really good video keep it up radman
I hope so 😂
I hope so as well🤣
@@BraydenBunch58we all do 😂
@@DennyhamlinXI real, end this bs elimination type points system
I would love for the playoff system to revert back to points based instead of an elimination bracket, just my opinion though
I feel your your Pain, they have to listen eventually, I hope they do. I want this sport to succeed, and it’s either listen to fans, change and get better, or die, and be forgotten, it’s the only two choices NASCAR has, I just hope they’ll make the right choice when the time comes.
That might have been the last JOKECAR race I wanted
This feels like Vince McMahons final years in WWE. The people in control not caring about what the fans want. Only caring about what they want
With Chase out I’m rooting for chaos first time going to the championship race Go Logano!
Didnt know realradman was a bot this whole time.
I don't think they'll change. I think NASCAR is just complacent leader-wise.
There is only one group that wants the current system, and that's the broadcasters, NBC especially.
Don't leave Hocevar out of this. 1 and 3 made the wall of Chevy behind Byron, but Hocevar sat there too and kept Keselowski pinned on the bottom. He is just as guilty.
Yep plus Hocevar has no talent to speak of either.
NUCLEAR RADMAN
One could only hope!. Also to the people who say Byron shouldn’t have been penalized ask SHR 2022 or the parties involved in the spingate situation in 2013 if nascar cares who or who wasn’t involved in race manipulation
10 race "chase style" format with bonus points earned for stages and the regular season championship is the way to go.
They need to just go back to more like a cumulative points format. Racing should be based on consistency and performance week in and week out in my opinion. Not someone being lucky a couple weeks and happening to win a championship.
Epic rant radman yes!!!!
23 car tire was not going down. Remember when they said the tire was going down join join this is the same thing as spin gate. People are nipping the points. Couldn’t NASCAR use this against the teams in the lawsuit you think
Byron used a forbidden move...
I hope so
Imo it would be fine to go back to the 10 race chase. That or the Winston. The playoffs tho need to go
Do you still live in an apartment? Gotta send that neighbor apology ASAP if so 😜 good rant. I like it.
@@vincenthelm6362yeah because Larson and Hamlin are also from Chevy or Toyota so it might just become a 3 driver championship battle. Pfft
If this ends the playoff format, where does Nascar go without going backwards? Plus, how do you prevent this? Nascar should just put a higher authority on the rules. This just shows that drivers and teams can easily manipulate the race.
They won’t get rid of the playoff system because it makes them money.
NASCAR execs don’t want their money messed with for any reason.
Preach man I agree 👍 💯
The bots thing…….. I just…… I cannot, I truly just cannot, I had a little bit of hope that maybe just maybe this is enough of a mess that nascar would change the format, after hearing that yeah no nascar has made their bed and they’re willing to lay on it no matter if the house is burning down around it
Why can’t NASCAR change their mind about the championship 4?
Also I get what you’re saying about Byron being the beneficiary of cheating, but I’ve never liked the concept of someone getting penalized when they did nothing wrong. That should NEVER happen.
I think the playoff system isn’t changing or get axed. I think the earliest for change with be 2026 or 2027
Who do you think NASCAR should put in the championship for if they don’t like William Byron if the penalty goes through, who else is eligible, it wasn’t a put a scandal on Sunday scandal on Sunday
denny hamlin LOL
That's pretty good, and I would add that NASCAR should use each of the four major track types (superspeedway, 1.5 mile, road course, and short track).
nascar should just go full 'Mr McMahon' and be the villian we already know they are
they can be like;
"yeah we put out a caution, so what??"
"hey you can't have a final 4 without a chevy"
their intro music would be "No chance" or the nWo theme
nascar executive - "of course we made the teams sign a contract waiving their rights to sue"
*thanks*
The 2 million lost viewers were probably because all the most popular legend drivers retired. Gordon/ Jr/Johnson/Stewart.
No one is talking about Bubba coming down a lane into Bell
Everyone talks about the shenanigans, but not that Ford saved face by not being a part of that nonsense. 2 solid contenders while your competitors look really bad. DARK HORSE had a solid debut regardless of next week
I really hope the playoffs end here, But they’re not going to.
NASCAR won’t change a thing
Been keeping track of my own points system this year. In my system, Larson needs to win AND have Christopher Bell finish 22nd or worse. If Larson doesn't win, Bell would be the champion. 🤷♂
It's like this they are going to make sure all three get in Ford Toyota Chevrolet
NASCAR’s season is the same level of Cluster-#@$& as is a Presidential campaign season
1970+32=2002.
Fuck it, championship 5
18 different winners this season. Is that a record? I doubt you will see another 10 race winner? I doubt you will see drivers win 50 in a career. I see the possibility of someone winning 5 championships with less than 25 wins, In the end the Hall of Fame will be watered down just like the Chase
No I doubt it
Penalize Chevy and Toyota Manufacturers Championship points, and The 20 and 24 Owners points, then add fines and suspensions.
Byron and Bell drove their guts out and I have no issue with either one of them. Everything else that happened was pure garbage. Including Nascar's call.
NASCAR really need start thinking about the format and go a different direction with it or change it completely cause I not gonna watch next season with the same format and same bullshit as well
This was worse than Spingate
I say they should not do the playoff system and go back to the Winston-Cup championship. There is no need that NASCAR to try and make a game 7 out of a Motorsport compared to stick and ball sports. I mean, I love my football and my baseball, but. NASCAR You need to be different compared to Baseball and football. You do what you made NASCAR from the 1990s and too 2000s.
I hate this stupid playoff system. Why not just save all of the teams millions and have just 17 races?
How many championships would Dale Earnhardt have using this current playoff system?
The answer is two fine all teams involved and then disqualify both manufactures from the manufactures championship and each team deducted 200 points
I bet if they do that this would never happen again and it's putting the hammer down nascar is two scared and this would fix it what's ur thoughts
NASCAR is like if EA owned a sport
I think playoffs in football, baseball, etc. serve at least some purpose. In Motorsports, it serves zero purpose whatsoever. It’s all just manufactured, illegitimate entertainment
Byron would been passed by 10 cars if they didn’t do what they did
I hope it’s the end of this ridiculous playoff system
Bell was screwed twice I don’t agree with you why should bell be disqualified cause Chevys are not passing Byron then he had the tie breaker
Technically neither did Truex in 2013. His team did but he didn't do something wrong.
@provicate4334 And NASCAR at that time was wrong for that. I hope they don't make the same mistake but I have no hope for this sport anymore lol.
Can they penalize a whole manufacturer so could they kick type of reticular the championship for because his teammate the 23 was helping?
It will be if Logano wins this!!
This is the drama that get you guys clicks. You love it, regardless of what all these guys that cover nascar say. I like this guy here tho
You can't let Larson get in because that would have worked for chevy
Yep it should probably be a 3 driver championship battle then.
