If you remove the fuel filter first, getting at the oil filler is much easier. On my CK 50 hr service, replacing the fuel filter is required. Good video. Nice idea about avoiding the hydraulic oil spill.
According to the manual for the DK series I don't need to replace that until 400 hours... which seems like a while. The manual is a bit all over the place though.
@@Curtis1824 I think you are correct after the first 50 hours. Mine was done at 50 hours and had normal breaking in metal specks in it. It needed to be changed at 50 hours. Check the owners manual. It also doesn't hurt to over do oil changes to ensure that clean fluid is in it. I do the engine and axle seasonally (about 150 hours) and the transmission/hydraulics every other year. All are more frequently than recommended. Thanks for sharing your video.

My buddy has a Kioti, he did an oil change and didn’t get his one of his drain plugs in tight. Vibration popped it out and he lost all his oil but by the time he realized it…too late! Engine cooked and of course, not covered by warranty. He had to buy a new engine and we removed the cooked one and installed the new one in just over 11 hours. The dealership was going to charge him for 17 hours so when you figure what that would have worked out at for a one year warranty if dealership installed, we just did it ourselves. Saved him a few thousand in labor. Just keep an eye on those drain plugs!! 👊🏻
Oh man! I will now be going out and double checking the drain plugs. That's terrible! At least you were able to save some cash doing it yourself. Dealers are expensive. They wanted $200 to install the 3rd function kit. Did it myself in a couple hours.
@@Curtis1824 my neighbor did his third function as well, for a grapple. I’ll be picking up my Kioti in May…really looking forward to it!! I was going to have the dealership do the install but you’re right… that service cost will pay for my 50 hour service kit AND, leave me enough to take my wife out to lunch!😁 I didn’t have to sell her on the tractor because she’s looking forward to it for her gardening and landscaping projects as much as I am for my prepping projects!! We’re selling our the townhouse we’re renting out right now…the markets really positive right now so, it’s a great time to dump it!! Never liked being a landlord anyway!!😁 and selling that will give us more than enough to buy cash and get some implements that will come in useful! Keep up the great videos!! Nice! Which Kioti model are you getting? I would hate to be a landlord right now. Great time to get rid of a rental! You might even have a little extra $$ to pay for a couple gallons of gas! Once you get it, you quickly find out the possibilities with the tractor are endless and such a time saver.

I have literally spent a couple of years going around and around!🤣 The only ones I ruled out immediately were the green one and the other orange one that starts with a “C”. Selling the townhouse to fill my truck with gas became necessary…I ran out of organs to sell!😳🤣 The way the world is going…having that tractor is going to be a bigger lifesaver than it will be already! The perfect combination of a tool and a toy! Completely justifiable!😁 We were blessed with great tenants and we hated to sell on them but you’re right…I’ve got enough right here on our homestead to worry about, to have to take care of another house. I’m going to travel back in time tonight and check out your earliest videos on the farm…I love your home!
Nice choice! I couldn't agree more with you on the tractor. Lauren and I are working to become more self sufficient and a tractor is a key part in that. We're going to be working towards getting a garden going this spring and hopefully getting some of the vineyard planted. Our home is an immense amount of work inside and out, but it will all be worth it. When I'm not working outside the inside work takes up my time. We love it too and couldn't imagine being anywhere else!
Nicely done, have been meaning to get one of those flexible funnels, but keep forgetting about it till I could actually use it...LOL, guess it is time to order one!! I like the extractor idea, time consuming but I don't like ending up with oil and fluid all over either. Wonder if setting the buckets up higher than the fill and then using a hand vacuum pump (like for bleeding car brakes) would allow you to setup tubing to siphon the hydraulic oil back into the fill port (there are other ways to get the siphon going of course, but this would be similarly clean). Does your tractor have a a separate transmission filter? My DK5310SE does, and I had to change it in addition to the general hydraulic filter (it is a gold colored filter on the left-hand side of the tractor). The transmission filter was by far the most costly item in the whole 50 hour service. You were wise to drain the fluid out before swapping out the hydraulic filter. When I did my 50 hour service, I did not. It was like being along side of the Exxon Valdez when I cracked that filter loose...
Thanks! I watched several videos of people draining it that way and wanted to try and stay away from a huge mess. For some reason mine doesn't have the separate one. The manual also only has changing the hydraulic filter and doesn't show where to change one like it does the hydraulic.
I too have a 5310 and am prepping for my first fluid/filter change. I've been watching several videos of others performing the 50hr service. Do you have to drain all of the hydraulic fluid (11 gallons in my tractor!!) in order to avoid the river of fluid when changing the filter?
@@DH-ik1vf I'm probably not the right guy to ask given the oil spill I went through! But, I have seen folks use a shop vac on the hydraulic fill port to greatly restrict the oil spill when the filter comes loose. I suppose that you could also pinch the vent on the hydraulic fluid fill port shut to restrict the flow. But if I had it to do over, I would have just drained the fluid. and been done with it. That's what my dealer told me that he does.
Weird thing is when you buy the filter kit, they don't include that one. At least from where I bought it. It has been changed, but waited until the 200 hr mark.
Your hydraulic fluid looks a little “milky” to me, maybe it was just the white plastic of the pumping mechanism... Also, on the engine oil filter side, are you missing a bolt in your loader mounting post?
I think the milky color was from all the air bubbles created driving it around to warm it up. They disappeared when I was pouring it all back in. Are you talking about the hole right under the oil filter?
It was definitely milky coming out with the extractor, but wasn't milky when I was putting it back in. I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe take a some out again without running the machine first to see.
Why can't you just remove your vented hydraulic filler cap? With the filler cap removed cleaned and duct tape placed over the filler opening you have created your own vacuum. Very little fluid should escape when removing the filter...

Thanks for the tip! Manual doesn’t have fuel filter getting replaced until 200 hours for my tractor. Strange it’s so far off from the CK series.
Could you park with front end aiming down hill to change transmission filter and not have to remove oil?
I think with the amount of oil in there it wouldn’t work great, but not quite sure.

Pull hydraulic dip stick mite let it refill quicker. No air locks in funnel.

I did just about all of it to be safe. I didn’t want to end up with a giant mess like I saw on some other videos.

It definitely looks milky which means water contamination
Double checked and both sides look like that. Too big of a hole for a bolt and no threads. Not sure what it's for.

I guess you could try that, but not sure I would want to chance it and have all that fluid go everywhere.
