Thank you for this video. I am in the middle of the AAPC CPC course, and plan on taking the CIC course after, and then the CCVTC. I work full time in a medical records department, and the charts that I find the most interesting are the cardiothoracic ones. Its definately sparked an interest in me, and made me realize I would love a job coding these procedures and cases.

Hi Desert Shrimping! (love that name :D ) Yes, cardiothoracic charts are very intense. So much is going on and seeing those patients recover is very satisfying! If you accept 1 recommendation: instead of the CIC, go for the CCS. It is more accepted in facility circles and commands a higher salary. ;) When do you test for the CPC?

@@TheMedicalCodingGuild the CCS is the AHIMA program, correct? Thank you for that recommendation, I will definately look into that one now. I should test for the CPC in august, hopefully. Ive been recently promoted at my job to HIMS manager and Ive been working alot longer days and dont always have the mental energy to study when I get home, so Im not as far into the course as I should be. But i am determined to get it done and be inpatient certified! I kind of wish I would have just done inpatient certifications to begin with, but I was under the impression you needed to do CPC before anything else. Oh well, wont hurt to have that under my belt too!

@@desertshrimping1127 Congratulations on the promotion!! A managerial position + a future CCS will open really nice doors! Yes, CCS belongs to AHIMA. It is inpatient and outpatient facility coding. It might sound scary but it is easier than the CIC. And as you said, it won't hurt to have the CPC. It will give you a good basis on how CPT coding works, what you will also need for the CCS. I am rooting for you to be able to get into IP cardiothoracic coding ASAP!

I'm glad I decided to go with the CCC I passed on my first try! you are right! there were a lot of guideline questions about the monitors, EPs, cardio tests, caths and PICs etc.. i'm sure there was a lot more but that's all i can remember now lol!

Oh, I know. It is post-exam amnesia, when you couldn't remember the questions even if your life depended on it! :D And you never know... you might do the CCVTC later. After all, getting credentials is very addictive.

@@karthikselvam2229 Hi Karthik! I am trying to post whenever I can but please know that any one of my videos is at least 10 hours of work. :) I don't mind putting in the time but sometimes it is just not possible for me to set that much aside with family, full time work and other responsibilities. Thank you for your encouragement, it means a lot to me!! Which credential did you decide on getting? The CCC or the CCVTC?
