I've been tanking since wraith on different toons though out the expansions and stumbled upon this guide. I must say how good it is, the coverage and explanations are brilliant and so on point. It's help me rethink and reminded me of this I should be doing. Thank you
Blood DKs got the advantage that they have a really easy time picking mobs up. The dot usually is enough to keep aggro when you pull them. This way you can constantly keep moving forward and get through the dungeon fast even while being the slowest tank.
I'm sure it's been said a bunch by now but thank you for making this series. I've suggested a few guildies look into it and I've seen more people willing to try tanking overall and I can't help but think this is having a nice ripple effect.
great guides on tanking preach. took up tanking on my demon hunter after watching these. its a nice change of pace from shadow/disc/holy priest. even got my first legendary in a mythic plus.
I like this video but not for the obvious reason where you showcase your classic tank and spank speed run for the daily AP reward, but because your commentary added humor with how your thought process just oozed out verbally on every pull LMAO ! Thumbs up !
It's interesting how strong Blood dks become with these new tiers. This was mentioned in the previous video about ego. It kind of comes with a blood tank tbh. The higher you gear the more you begin to just do what you want. I have been soloing mythics alone without any buffs, with 890. I usually don't even ress the healer when they die during a boss fight, because again... Ego. But either way it's only during fun times. Speed tanking is fun, but just becareful you will end up getting your group killed while you stand there killing everything.
I have to say, this is the sort of guides that I have been wanting for so long. It´s good Preacher, you have done me well :D The only thing I would add (abit late now) is how you should think about your CD´s. nyphix4321 thats not what anyone is saying at all lmao. were not saying the expansion is bad or that theres nothing to do. just saying that tanking in legion is like tanking in every other expansion. same for healer and dps.
One thing I've been doing lately is trying to push the limits of my pulling. For example I was running a regular mythic Maw, pulled fairly large packs and was doing well up until I pulled most of the trash right after the scythe boss....those bone chilling screams made that pull last about 5 times longer as the group couldn't interrupt them all. But you can also use LOS to your advantage to finish quicker due to fewer wipes because now the DPS isn't pulling the whole fuckin room due to standing in the wrong place... Because you know pugs will always stand in the wrong place lol
Hey Preach Gaming, would you mind making these tanking vids into a playlist :)? I'd like to have in the background while I tank :P So far I'm enjoying it, and though I'm a slow learner, I am getting better.
I love speed tanking on my DK every new piece of gear that I get just makes me that much more powerful makes me that much more faster but I had a question and you probably already answered this what do you do in situations where you get in to an instance and you have a DPS healer combo running from a guild that's Mass pulling everything seems to be really common in my runs lately it ends up killing the group it takes an eight minute dungeon like 20 minutes to do? any thoughts would be very helpful thank you
One question. How do you know how many mobs you need to pull in mythic +? Is there a set % that every mob gives that you need to know on the top of your head? Since M+ is all about speed, I am always afraid that I will pick the wrong route and pull too much.. Any advice?
research ahead of time or do it enough times to know the exact route you should take. Look at some +10 and over videos and watch what mobs they kill (obviously not one with teeming).
If you play M+ with ppl you know are good, look at slootbags stream. He is awesome at knowing how fast they should go. Look for when he uses CD´s and knows if the healer have CD´s (There are addons for that). If you play with randoms it could be challenging, just experiment and test things out. Start small and go bit by bit bigger
hey preach! I started tanking before this server but it acluty gave me some tips realy looking forward to get ya healing guide wanted to try that for a long time!
i pugged my first raid on my tank and actually became the guy who explains boss mechanics, too bad the other tank never did EN normal so raid died during renferal. I am happy with tanking over shadow priesting right now (masochism?). Preach best teacher 2016
hey ima be returning to wow next week. i haven't played legion at all last thing i did was wod. i was hoping to pick up my proc wario. can someone tell me what rotation / priorities i should keep in mind while running dungeon finder and solo leveling?
Talent based. Tanks always have way more nebulous rotations that they swap around mid fight depending on current needs - resources, damage, healing etc. Beyond maintaining shield block for melee attacks and using ignore pain to use up extra rage, everything is your decision based on what's happening in the fight and what talents you have.
The earlier vids in the series got me interested in tanking again, this video reminded me why I'll never get back into tanking. Speed running just isn't fun for me.
Over pulling can some times teach you a few things the mobs do that normally does not come up because those mobs are killed before they have a chance to do anything. Aso Bigger numbers ;D
The main things I would like to mention is that some people are doing quests and need to pick up items on the way. And some people are new to a dungeon and need to follow the people ahead of them. The latter doesn't matter in most dungeons, but some dungeons do actually have a choice and the one you think is obvious might not be to someone else. Of course these things are usually done in normal level, and learning a dungeon should absolutely be done in normal level (if you are pugging), so they don't apply as much to Heroic and higher. And, PLEASE, if you do this, be sure you can actually do without the healer and dps. If you are speed-tanking and die because you aren't getting heals, well, that's on you, not the healer, and no one will appreciate the almost certain wipe. This will all really be solved by following Preacher's golden rules - be aware of your other players and check your ego at the door - I just wanted to emphasize them.
What ilvl did you pull this off at? I have been trying this 'pocket' thing organically, and my gear which is about along the lines of your tanking 5 stream guide is 826 (BDK btw).
As a melee dps that last pull (both scorpions and boss) would have put me on edge. Of course, by that time I would have realized the tank didn't need me so I could just sit on the edge of the area hitting the "throw" button rather than dying.
Melee dps actually don't take a lot of damage there. Scorpion ember swipe is easily avoided. And it's the Frenzy that really causes the heavy group damage, and that tends to prioritize ranged and healers. Same with the jagged throw from the trappers. DPS's job to stun that frenzy, interrupt Bound cast of the trappers. Easy. Quite managable even in mythic+ up to 9, if you got dps that know what they're doing.
as a experienced tank I so love this series as for the most part it lines up with how I tank but it also gave me the slap down I kinda needed for my ego in that well I know I run the show but should not be a dick about it since at my stage this is gonna take like 10 min
Please at least keep in mind this has to vary tank to tank, preach is a DK here they are slow as molasses so the group can keep up well enough, if you are a monk or DH please remember your class is insanely mobile but also squishier, even overgeared you will be in trouble if you get too far ahead like most seem to do.
I imagine entering instance and being like: Hi, this is speedrun. Some of you guys might die (a lot), but that is sacrifice I am willing to live with. :-D
can this apply for twinking dungeon runners? i've decked out my pally in some 835-845 gear and was hoping to make things easier while i farm out stuff and when it comes time to run the dungeons, it will be easy as fucking pie
It could work out for you. But keep in mind that while leveling you will get people in your group who dont know their classes/role and make everything a bit slower. Just adapt to your group, if you see them running around in circles after the first big pull go a bit slower. Constant small pulls are the way to go if you have weird people in your party.
I'll be honest. Going to follow the Healer one closely. Healing is the one thing I've never gotten into in this game. . .Ranged, Melee, Plenty of tanking, but Healing never quite "clicked" with me.
Speed tanking is gonna be a little harder in a future patch, because if I'm not mistaken Blizzard is going to scale H dungeons more so that they are still relevant for higher geared players.
From what I understand, they'll scale them up in 7.2, and increase the iLvL on loot, yes, but coming in there with Nighthold gear will probably still make you as overpowered as you are today in EN/ToV gear.
For what? What playstyle do you like? Do you want niche usefulness? Do you want to feel bulky, do you want to deal good damage while tanking or tank well regardless of damage, do you have literally ANY IDEA WHAT YOU'RE ASKING? NOBODY ELSE DOES EITHER.
Wang Dang Sweet Poon Tang Comedic exaggeration gone wrong. What do you like in your tanks - satisfying clanks with a damage report like "-200k(300k blocked)" or more to the end of contributing to your own healing and just having a permanent damage reduction buff? Warriors have fantastic mobility - both a targeted leap for precision positioning and a charge with rage gen to capitalise on and nullify knockaways. Their mitigation is satisfying and requires planning and forethought to really use properly. Some find the fantasy of flat warrior without any magic elements boring, though. Paladins are downright fantastic for inventive strategies. BoP the physical debuff from xavius off your off tank to help resynchronise nightmare infusion with dream. Replace with spellwarding to immune new applications of necrotic in mythic+ without dropping aggro, blessing of sacrifice your off tank to use up your accumulating absorbs, spellward the damage from the link on Elerethe to pull spiders across the room without fear of either link damage or poison from the adds themselves. Ardent defender on Odyn to straight up cheat death on the stormforged spear and continue damaging without leaving his side. And finally, always remember that final stand is now a talent worth orgasming over. However, their main mitigation mechanics are extremely dull. There are all these factors and a few more gameplay wise to consider. Hope it helped a little :)
Why be slow and smooth when you can be fast and smooth? The point of casual speed tanking is that you're just playing in the way that your gear level allows. The alternative would be to never improve anything about your runs as you start to completely overgear them.
karlzone2 How about doing harder runs? :P But you know what? If you like speed tanking, then you go ahead and do it, I'm not gonna tell other people what to do or not to do. xD I find speed tanking to be pointless, because I don't think you'll ever be in a situation where you just need to finish a dungeon in under 10 minutes or so, otherwise you wouldn't have started that dungeon. All speed tanking ever did in my experience, was create chaos and make the healer and damage dealers have to work harder to clean the tank's mess. I'm sure there's the good, cleaner kind of speed tanking as well, but if u can pull 1-2 packs in the same place and then clear them in a few seconds then proceed, how is that slower than pulling everything while running so the dps can't properly do aoe damage? The time lost running between targets and doing st damage instead of pure aoe more than compensated for the time taken for breaks of 2 or so seconds in between pulls. Afterall, you can speed tank as much as you like, but if you don't have dps capable of dealing with it you're not gonna have a faster run.
Sorry to say Preach, but you kind of failed to achieve what you were going for with this series. You tried to debunk the whole "ilvl gate" that people "self impose" in the pug world, yet you did anything that pugs require high ilvl for on stream. Forming a "pug" group from your viewers for Karazhan and running +9s at lower ilvls by getting people from your stream to run it with you instead of pugging it. Instead of going to the "pug world" you did what you would normally do, but with viewers instead of guildies. If you want to truly debunk this theory, you must attempt to do this on an anonymous character with 0 help from your internet fame.
theredfox22 My issue wasn't him doing the +9 at a low ilevel, it's the fact that he wanted to debunk the "ilvl gate" and instead just used his viewers instead of guildies and bypassed it. If he can find a group running a +9 that accepts a 854 (i believe that was his ilvl, maybe a little off) without using viewers/guildies/friends and runs it to get a 2 chest run then I'll eat my words, the "ilvl gate" isn't some self imposed confidence complex, it's caused by the "pug world" wanting to never fail by so vastly over gearing content their mistakes mean nothing.
But if you fallow the line of progression by being a good tank you will be noticed by your fellow players and should you take advantage of that you will grow your friends list to enable you to create that group to go do the mythic +lvl dungeon I don't know about you but doing pure pugs on m+ dungeons is a crap shoot and I would much rather run with people I gathered up from previous runs then jumping in to a group of unknowns
I'm in a similar situation to Preach, I run M+s with my guildies, so personally the pug situation doesn't affect me, my issue was to do with how Preach bypassed the ilvl issue by just bringing stream viewers to all his runs. Sure it's fun for the stream but defeats the point of debunking the "pug world".
I think you looking at this video series in the wrong way his first video in this ranking series was say that if you want to get better at tanking the the place to go is into the pug world where because of the diversity of players skill and unpredictable nature of said players forces you to become a better tank so long as you drop the arrogant tank disposition and seek to control the dungeon run seeking to make it fun for everyone this series wasn't about gearing that was a byproduct of his first goal which was what to do to become a good tank and how a good tank thinks and with that goal inmind I think it was a success. this has been a pleasure to have a civil conversation with you many times these conversations digress into yelling matches of caplock insults being thrown back and forth hope you have a great rest of your day I have to get back to work thanks again
The whole point of this video series was to inspire people to get into tanking. It had nothing to do with 'debunking the "pug world"', whatever the hell that means. He geared up like that so that he could release the videos in a timely fashion, rather than gearing the way most people would (via World Questing, Heroics etc.)
For any brewmasters out there you can pretty much ignore this video. Our self healing isn't good enough to do this kind of pulling w/o a healer. You can still pull like this but if you don't have a healer that's going to keep up you WILL die even if it is only a heroic.
“We were fine” as the mage gets BoP. And that wasn’t the healer either, he’d already used his. That was the ret pally. If your ret is spending a gcd to BoP, you’re not fine. Do not depend on a dps being that game-conscious or group focused in a dungeon. Your mage would definitely have died there and you would have had a hard time downing the boss without him. You weren’t fine.
Speed tanking is just pulling 2 mobs - 3 instead of 1 and not dpsing it down to death. You just smash and drag mobs through the dungeon, while the dps pick off the stragglers. Efficient for fast heroics, and people that complain need to just enjoy the ride, you're getting carried and geared. Get on the bus!
The problem I have with speed tanking is at low levels there are allot of tanks that are doing and doing it wrong. I mean I had one the other day that didn't stop all the way through the Instance. I mean i don't mind the group going fast but when you pull half the Instance and not even worrying about whether you healer is even close. It is alright at preaches gear level but people are tanking this way from 15 and up. There is fast run and there is stupid and 65% of them don't know the difference.
***** As a baer (no typo) at least I don't have the problem with horrible speed tanks pulling more than the group can handle, but the same can happen if the dps pulls everything (barrage *cough*) so guess we'll never be entirely safe. :)
Joseph Bentley Yeah, those are fun. Especially when you, as a tank, pull a group, and a dps runs ahaed of you and starts dpsing a different group than you. If you follow the dps, it runs to something else, refusing to be close to you. (More common in low level dungeons, though, but still annoying.) :)
Was doing normal mythic EoA on my disc priest alt the other day with randoms and this DH tank pulled nearly ALL trash up to Parjesh (yes, all the unnecessary trash) including 3 or 4 naga casters. I couldnt reach him cuz all the naga were casting storm and he was on the other side dying. Then he blamed us for being casuals and was salty the whole run :D
I'm sorry but I fail to see how Preach and ( I'm making an assumption here ) other tanks don't see how this is inherently egotistical. Yeah, it's all well and good when a tank enters into the dungeon and is over geared enough to get away with this, but what if your healer isn't? Or your dps aren't? I just feel it's arrogant to make that decision for the four other people in the run with you. Kudos to Preach having the skill to do that and not put his group through hell, but not every tank can lol.
Know this vid is a little old. But honestly that sort of speed through it mindset is what hurts newer players, they don't learn the mechanics as well if you just blow through everything and when they finally get geared for mythics they could cause wipes by simple mistakes. If someone is new, you should slow it down and help them learn. Not saying you are wrong Preach, just saying that some people don't care for the newer players much.
Aggrama's Stride and Sephuz's Secret on a Blood DK is truly a fearsome sight. I could not have been happier getting the movement speed boots as my first legendary, dungeons never went slowly again! (well except for when they needed to)
Imo, I miss the times where dungeon took a while. Like, having to do CC, mana breaks etc. I was hoping that was what M+ were going to be, not just speed runs, but same dungeon but harder, bigger numbers, more stuff to watch out for. You have the extra stuff you have to watch out for, but the timing thing....ehhh, don't really like. I enjoyed the Vanilla, TBC and start of Wotlk model the best.
As a tank, kind of your job to notice that is going on and correct it. You have to account for stuff like that in Skittish mythic+, might as well do it in pugs.
at the 875 ilvl mark you might be like me and start 'tanking' as unholy, making the run 3x faster, and praying the rest of your random heroic group doesnt kick u cus they are stupid ^_^
Great guide! Definitely gonna show it if I'll introduce someone to tanking. Not sure if you mentioned one very important thing about positioning in tanking - it is that you should NEVER let mobs be behind you, because that increases damage income significantly. When I'm gathering mobs to let group aoe cleave them, I'm always in constant motion because these sons of b...ches always trying to sneak behind my back : ( I believe that is another reason why new tanks are taking so much damage (aside from not using and tracking damage mitigation spells)
Helping me be a better healer since 2011! And now tanking in 2019. Keep preaching it Mike :D
I've been tanking since wraith on different toons though out the expansions and stumbled upon this guide. I must say how good it is, the coverage and explanations are brilliant and so on point. It's help me rethink and reminded me of this I should be doing. Thank you

For how slow DKs are our speed tanking is fucking great, crispy grips for days

I really appreciate this series, I've been maining a frost DK but after this I've been having a lot of fun running as blood
great guides on tanking preach. took up tanking on my demon hunter after watching these. its a nice change of pace from shadow/disc/holy priest. even got my first legendary in a mythic plus.
So where's the legacy vid???
I like this video but not for the obvious reason where you showcase your classic tank and spank speed run for the daily AP reward, but because your commentary added humor with how your thought process just oozed out verbally on every pull LMAO ! Thumbs up !

Have really enjoyed this series preach!
Last pull pretty hard to do with random groups, cheers.

Love the tank vids, Preach, might give it a try. But certainly looking forward to the healer vids.
omg it's healer time next *-* HYPE
I might actually try tanking in Legion. Looks fun!
looks just like every other expansion lol
same exactly the same like lall last exp mate no difference.
Looks like Diablo 3.
nyphix4321
thats not what anyone is saying at all lmao. were not saying the expansion is bad or that theres nothing to do. just saying that tanking in legion is like tanking in every other expansion. same for healer and dps.
nyphix4321 b v.
Can you do a series like this for healing?
scorpious1109 thats the next one hes doing
why would you need 2 tanks the 4 dps is better
westiesmum69 that's very very stupid
might not be as useful though since preach is really not a good healer. He is a pretty good tank and dps but healing has never been his thing
u hate healers in high mythics and raids aswell? lol..
What happened to Deathwing flying past the screen from left to right in the beginning then right to left in the background in the video intro?
One thing I've been doing lately is trying to push the limits of my pulling. For example I was running a regular mythic Maw, pulled fairly large packs and was doing well up until I pulled most of the trash right after the scythe boss....those bone chilling screams made that pull last about 5 times longer as the group couldn't interrupt them all. Knowing what the trash does and what can be hard to handle is essential and I learned a lesson. Get in there and experiment. You'll fuck up plenty doing stuff like this but eventually you'll learn exactly what you are capable with.
it is not the screams that made the run long it is the 5 AOE and single target healers you might have picked up with the scream.
Know who is in your groups, know what tools you have available, know what the trash does.
First time I had that same pull was because the hunter barraged the entire top of the boat, and it made the trash so long.
But whenever I have a Balance druid in my group, or at least 2 aoe stuns and the dps is high, the entire lane up until the miniboss is pulled, I ask them beforehand to save their solar beam for the healers in the deathball to cast their heal. I tank them in the solar beam and everything dies before it runs out.
As a blood DK, I have the luxury of Gorefiend's grasp and death grip to make a nice and tight death ball. That's also the moment I wait until I have all my CDs to pump out the highest dps/absorbs. Dancing Rune Weapon with Vampiric blood gets insane damage and absorption shield from Umbilicus Eternus. Using AMS before the fear cast lands prevents application of the fear.
It's just a question of risk analysis. You need to know what you can get away with, and what you cannot get away with.
Liked the video Preach. Like the mind send intel too :). Looking so so forward to your healing series since I do that on 3 different toons.
i found the most important thing to consider when speed tanking isnt how good the healer is, its about how good the dps is
Yes true. Avoiding damage and killing/kicking priority targets is key. It's also nice when everybody knows the mythic+ affixes.
Everything is getting easier when your group avoids damage and the healer can help with damage and cc.
Thanks for this series. It has made me want to try my tanking offspec.
Rapid fire on getting these videos out
black rook hold would be great for an example of this
I have mained a Hunter all through wow, and Now because of your vids, i Main a Wattiot Tank along with Druid Tank/ Milti Spec Alt and am loving it ! infact ive loved it so much my hunter is still not even 11o yet :P
this is why i love tanking, whenever you dps the tank is a slow granny.
can you please make a video about tanking a raid with two tanks
See I only mention the whole LOS thing because of how I learned about it.
The first time I learned about using LOS as the tank was made very apparent in storm stout brewery... Remember final boss "everyone behind the pillar please?"

you always make great content. keep it up! thanks for getting me into trying all the different roles!
Hey preach! Holla balla to you good sir!!
I've been tanking since mid 2007... And what you've said in this tanking series is absolutely invaluable for those people who would like to learn how to tank... But one thing I noticed is that you didn't mention anything about one of the cool things you can do as a tank due to "line of sight" and bring the trash to your DPS so they don't have to worry about "stand here so you don't pull the stuff over there due to aggro radius"
I just find it super helpful when I can use LOS to bring the trash to the DPS so you can position the damage dealers without having to tell the pugs where to stand because you know they won't listen to you because in the pug world, tanks know nothing and are stupid dumb dumbs so I don't have to listen to them.
Just thought I'd mention it because you only said line of sight to discount a bad healer...
Cant you make your own playlist m8?
xD Yeah lol, i guess I didn't think of that lol. Thanks ;p
I love speed tanking on my DK every new piece of gear that I get just makes me that much more powerful makes me that much more faster but I had a question and you probably already answered this what do you do in situations where you get in to an instance and you have a DPS healer combo running from a guild that's Mass pulling everything seems to be really common in my runs lately it ends up killing the group it takes an eight minute dungeon like 20 minutes to do? any thoughts would be very helpful thank you
1:39 you should activate path of frost and see what happens =]]
What healer will you be playing for your next healer? I vote disc
Preach Gaming how many 110 you already have and apart of your Mage, how is your I-lvl on those characters??
Phantom Gaming Thanks for the reply.
There is an addon that tracks what % each mob gives. But just run it and try out different paths and see where you can pull less or more etc.
If you play M+ with ppl you know are good, look at slootbags stream. He is awesome at knowing how fast they should go. Look for when he uses CD´s and knows if the healer have CD´s (There are addons for that).
If you play with randoms it could be challenging, just experiment and test things out. Start small and go bit by bit bigger
anyone have a link for the thumbnail? i got the orange version of that pic but blue one looks better
What's the music at the start of the video? o:
3:15 how I feel every time I see a chest when tanking.
Preach could you share your ui again? Last one was pre legion
Years later, still haven't seen you tank anything substantial. Grats on doing +3s and heroics.
Whats the song name for this :)?
Does anyone have the bone shield tooltip buff bug? it suppose to be %16 dmg reduction but on buff area it shows like %1, %3 etc... pls help
hey ima be returning to wow next week. i haven't played legion at all last thing i did was wod. i was hoping to pick up my proc wario. can someone tell me what rotation / priorities i should keep in mind while running dungeon finder and solo leveling?
Talent based. Tanks always have way more nebulous rotations that they swap around mid fight depending on current needs - resources, damage, healing etc. Beyond maintaining shield block for melee attacks and using ignore pain to use up extra rage, everything is your decision based on what's happening in the fight and what talents you have.
Hey preach how's this mainly work for a monk since there self healing is pretty low.
Blood DK walk through/guide?
I don't even play WoW anymore but I love your videos!
And when I type 'trying' I mean I get to about 2/3 of the packs you have managed before I have to look to a survival rotation.
Too low. This is aimed at 850 or more, really. Keep doing what you can at a safer pace.
Was I 'not prepared' Illidan? ;p
I have not played wow in years but I could have done with someone like you when I was playing.
as a experienced tank I so love this series as for the most part it lines up with how I tank but it also gave me the slap down I kinda needed for my ego in that well I know I run the show but should not be a dick about it since at my stage this is gonna take like 10 min
>Does tanking tutorial
>Doesnt turn around the vileshard guy
I imagine entering instance and being like:
Hi, this is speedrun. Some of you guys might die (a lot), but that is sacrifice I am willing to live with. :-D
can this apply for twinking dungeon runners? i've decked out my pally in some 835-845 gear and was hoping to make things easier while i farm out stuff and when it comes time to run the dungeons, it will be easy as fucking pie
mind you, the pally is lvl 102
It could work out for you.
But keep in mind that while leveling you will get people in your group who dont know their classes/role and make everything a bit slower.
Just adapt to your group, if you see them running around in circles after the first big pull go a bit slower.
Constant small pulls are the way to go if you have weird people in your party.
Just need the name of the song preach
I blame Blizz for creating the culture of "GO GO GO!!!" by making the difficulty of the normal & leveling dungeons insignificant.
Pref a happy medium speed tanking is daft you end up way in front healer got no chance to regain mana and dps are chasing you all the time
hoooooo boy, randoms sure are going to interesting for the next few days.
I'll be honest. Going to follow the Healer one closely. Healing is the one thing I've never gotten into in this game. . .Ranged, Melee, Plenty of tanking, but Healing never quite "clicked" with me.
I'm attempting to get in to tanking. Does anyone want to do M+ with me? (EU)
Song name pls!! I will love you...
no really....
a blood dk with aggramars makes this even more fun
I am like the biggest dick on the planet on my blood tank cause I just fucking walk past everyone.
Frost aoe can be pretty crispy if you play properly. Don't knock it
Speed tanking is gonna be a little harder in a future patch, because if I'm not mistaken Blizzard is going to scale H dungeons more so that they are still relevant for higher geared players.
From what I understand, they'll scale them up in 7.2, and increase the iLvL on loot, yes, but coming in there with Nighthold gear will probably still make you as overpowered as you are today in EN/ToV gear.
This expansion, warr or pally?
For what? What playstyle do you like? Do you want niche usefulness? Do you want to feel bulky, do you want to deal good damage while tanking or tank well regardless of damage, do you have literally ANY IDEA WHAT YOU'RE ASKING?
NOBODY ELSE DOES EITHER.
whoof. so hostile. this is video about tanking so i assumed yall would assume i meant as a tank? my bad i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
that's an incredibly stupid sentence that reduces down to slow = fast... good job.
Chill out, edgelord. Just because you don't get smart things, doesn't mean they're stupid. :P
Why be slow and smooth when you can be fast and smooth? The point of casual speed tanking is that you're just playing in the way that your gear level allows. The alternative would be to never improve anything about your runs as you start to completely overgear them.
karlzone2 How about doing harder runs? :P
But you know what? If you like speed tanking, then you go ahead and do it, I'm not gonna tell other people what to do or not to do. xD
I find speed tanking to be pointless, because I don't think you'll ever be in a situation where you just need to finish a dungeon in under 10 minutes or so, otherwise you wouldn't have started that dungeon.
He geared up like that so that he could release the videos in a timely fashion, rather than gearing the way most people would (via World Questing, Heroics etc.)
on the subject of ninjapulling. DHT is an absolute nightmare for this. :P
Nice video !
Hopefully, this video will teach some of those 65% how to be part of the good speed tankers' group. :)
***** As a baer (no typo) at least I don't have the problem with horrible speed tanks pulling more than the group can handle, but the same can happen if the dps pulls everything (barrage *cough*) so guess we'll never be entirely safe. :)
Merlininsider I'm more worried about those buthole dpsers that think they can run the instance solo instead of working with the group.
Merlininsider rofl
That is why his disclaimer at the end is important. And you are completly correct in that many are going to do this without the skillset to do it
Know this vid is a little old.
(well except for when they needed to)
so not jelly. Sigil of Chains :P But love my BDK also!
personally I don't like the trend towards timers
gives out tanking guides but doesn't even manage to keep bone shield up
Imo, I miss the times where dungeon took a while.
People also have to learn attacking tanks target.. To much peeps are 1man fighting mobs and need focus heals instead of the tank..
As a tank, kind of your job to notice that is going on and correct it. You have to account for stuff like that in Skittish mythic+, might as well do it in pugs.
Got yelled at for speed tanking with my brew. randoms can be so annoying.
now 3 chest a mythic with 2 affixes!
Why speed tank a Heroic? Like why?
2-3k gold per run from bonus, thats why
Why the hell not get it over with as fast as possible if you get lucky with a half decent group?
Why not? Heroics are trivial content.
at the 875 ilvl mark you might be like me and start 'tanking' as unholy, making the run 3x faster, and praying the rest of your random heroic group doesnt kick u cus they are stupid ^_^
More Legacy class videos.... .:P!!
Great guide! Definitely gonna show it if I'll introduce someone to tanking.
Not sure if you mentioned one very important thing about positioning in tanking - it is that you should NEVER let mobs be behind you, because that increases damage income significantly. When I'm gathering mobs to let group aoe cleave them, I'm always in constant motion because these sons of b...ches always trying to sneak behind my back : ( I believe that is another reason why new tanks are taking so much damage (aside from not using and tracking damage mitigation spells)
maybe ill try tanking on my dk
5th, Great vid preach
