Coolest band ever. I just wish Johnny, Jerry, and Arthur were still around to enjoy the love of the fans and contemporary critics. These guys were just so important to rock history.
Johansen still looks very good, he's always been a fantastic performer, a great lyricist, and he's very funny... I love Sylvain's rhythm guitar ... hard to imagine The Dolls without Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan, but they still rock
the most underrated band of the past 50 years. Never tire of watching the OGWT performance... but better still is their appearance on Later with Joolz doing 'Trash'. Just sheer class....
Last night I saw a 2004 documentary on bassist "Killer" Kane who passed away after a reunion concert. That documentary was my first intro to this band. Recognized "Buster Poindexter." So cool. This isn't my favorite genre of music, but I am fascinated by this group and would go see them in a minute. The surviving members sound great after all these years.
For the benefit of the "younger" fans of the NY Dolls, only David Johanson and Sylvain Sylvain are "original" members. Ross kept referring to this line-up as the New York Dolls. Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan, Billy Murcia and Arthur "Killer" Cane sadly passed away, and were each in the original band...This band, IMHO, should not be called The New York Dolls. Perhaps The New New York Dolls? Still, they rock out with the new members...
Its good to see Syl Syl and David back and with the almighty Sami Yaffa on bass!! Im gonna see the NYD next week for the first time on my life (im NYD fan since i first heard them around '88), im pretty excited. Cheerz from Argentina!
Thank you, thank you... The Dolls were to die for!!! I missed this show but caught the London Gig. David and the boys tore the roof off of the place..This band sizzles while others just fizz
This is what was great about his show on BBC1. He'd give the likes of the New York Dolls and The Stooges a mainstream BBC audience as well as having bigger bands.
DuffPaddy1 yeah, they were getting attention and respect over there on the BBC but here they couldn’t get arrested and were not played on the Radio and TV ignored them so they got nowhere here!
It's great to see David and Sylvain rocking on. Their new album comes out in May and I can't wait. I'm like the only 17 year old guy who likes these guys. From what I know, they'll be touring. I'd like to see the new guys in action and try not to compare them to Johnny, Arthur, and Jerry. I still like them so rock on!
The Dolls are going back into the studio in January to record their next album. Todd Rundgren is back to produce the album. Sounds like history in the making (again).
@Mopar604 Actually,Ross is a huge music fan,he's big on Bowie,Roxy Music all that great glam stuff,he knows his shit,he's genuinely happy to have them there,he can get any guests he wants on his shows,he doesnt need to fill his shows with stuff he doesnt know or like
@wrongchordsrecords I love Ross, a wittier host there is not! His interviews of Stooges and Dolls are funny stuff! Johansen looks remarkable for his age here... most his piers have grown heavy with age... truly remarkable how a solid drug habit keeps your body slim and trim! Long live the Ny Dolls, one of the better glam acts with legs.
@DanLetts97 I checked out your You Tube page and watched your drumming video. If that is you drumming you actually play very well. You never know what the future holds? Maybe we will hook up someday and end up playing on a talk show either here or there? In all seriousness, if that is you playing you have some talent. Boston, Mass
The time is perfect for the original Alice Cooper band to get back togeather, like in the "KILLER" days.I know Glen Buxton would approve.I loved The Alice Cooper shows, and i believe it would work out fantastic.
There's a documentary about Caine. They find him living in LA, a Mormon, having hocked his bass. They invite him to a reunion show in London, and what happens after that. It's great. I wish I could remember the title...Look it up. I saw it at a video store.
@roncronton He held the corner shop door open for me and he had a pram, i thought so very gentlemanly of him! He was still in a suit and he was only buying dog biscuits at the end of his street in Hampstead Heath.
actually, jonathan ross did a good job presenting the dolls. he knows a bit about rock history and had fun WITH david and sylvain instead of making fun OF them................
hes right, unless the person never tries drugs and then they will never know, that is certainly the right way to go, but most of us are to weak to avoid drugs including myself, so i am not judging people!
@Paneeks1960 I agree... but heres the diffrerence. Guys like Stern exist in the back rooms of satellite radio...they're outcasts. Jonathon Ross is mainstream in England, this show airs on regular television, you would never see a show like this on anything other than The Comedy Network or maybe HBO in america; that's the difference.
I remember when the dolls first came to England they didn't go down well atall with their platform boots and silly prancicing about,It wasn't until later that thy were appreciated . I think the Ramones made them more acceptable Love and Peace Y'all
@Mopar604 Do you not understand English? Ross has obviously heard of the NY Dolls before and seems a huge fan. I think you are wrong with the assumption that he'd never heard of them. Jonathan Ross is a massive music fan and you can even see here how thrilled he is to be with them. Yeah?
The original New York Dolls were KICKASS! I have all their albums and I LOVE them! :-)
Coolest band ever. I just wish Johnny, Jerry, and Arthur were still around to enjoy the love of the fans and contemporary critics. These guys were just so important to rock history.
The Dolls changed my life in Denver in 1974. EVERYTHING was different after those shows. So great to see them back and ROCKIN'!
Love this tune!!! The Dolls have still got it!!! They never lost it!!!
i adore the NEW YORK DOLLS!! I am old enough to remember the original dolls and they still kick ass!!!
Still the most fuckin’ amazing band ever forever!!
New York Dolls= Legendary. Johnathan Ross= Bell Endary
Yeah, but Ross managed to pull some excellent guests on his show and at least he let them speak in complete sentences (if they were capable of that).
Johansen still looks very good, he's always been a fantastic performer, a great lyricist, and he's very funny... I love Sylvain's rhythm guitar ... hard to imagine The Dolls without Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan, but they still rock
now thats rock n roll fookin brill
fantastic performance! the dolls still rock!
Jammin straight R&R'!!! These guys still got it. The Johnathan Ross show looked like it was a hoot, he's pretty funny.
the most underrated band of the past 50 years. Never tire of watching the OGWT performance... but better still is their appearance on Later with Joolz doing 'Trash'. Just sheer class....
Absolutely Brilliant Outstanding Underrated Alternative Rock 'N' Roll Band With A Difference 🔗❤🖤🔒🖇
My god they look so amazing here!!
One of the greatest bands ever.
'i have to go to jail dressed like Liza Minnelli' hahaha lol
Last night I saw a 2004 documentary on bassist "Killer" Kane who passed away after a reunion concert. That documentary was my first intro to this band. Recognized "Buster Poindexter." So cool. This isn't my favorite genre of music, but I am fascinated by this group and would go see them in a minute. The surviving members sound great after all these years.
jonathan was being nice, he was a massive punk fan and truly loved the dolls. lighten up
I bet you do, really. Thanks for putting a fresh, valid, and new perspective on all this for me.
On of my favourite bands of all time!!!!!!
And then there were two (David & Syl). The reincarnated NY Dolls were also fantastic. Saw them live with Sami Yaffi on bass. Sublime!
Then there were one
an Esquerita shout out! AWESOME!

The Greatest band of all time.

That's the way it should be done boys!
This sounds great.
Tons of ATTITUDE!
Wow, David J. Sounds 100 times better than I thought he was going to. Nice surprise. Rock on!
this is a great show!
And he was the lead bad guy in Mr. Nanny, starring Hulk Hogan... "First you deft me, then you mock my HAIR? You're DEAD!"
great song, a lot of contemporary bands owe them a lot.
Johnathan Ross O.B.E is SUCH rebel! Isn't he?

@wrongchordsrecords I love Ross, a wittier host there is not! His interviews of Stooges and Dolls are funny stuff! actually, jonathan ross did a good job presenting the dolls. he knows a bit about rock history and had fun WITH david and sylvain instead of making fun OF them................
Nobody believes it's the same band they sound completely different. I still love them. I still would if they were called something else.
cool
What a sample lol
@kidcalabria I recall Todd Rundgren jokingly saying that Johnny Thunders had probably not been sober since he was ten!!
Great stuff, saw them the other night - Brilliant, maybe just listen to them and get off on the music, I cant fault it!

@MadderRoseRulz Er, didn't Johnny form his own band before dying, Mr nostalgia?
Sorry, this is the Dave n' Syl Nostalgia Crew. It's not the Dolls!
that's because he IS Buster Pointdexter
OH! But they're still SO good lookin'!!!
conan o brien is the man for sure!
LMAO, I thought he was going to pull a Barry Gibb there but he was just being a bit awkward hahah.. he should have said he was getting his glasses.
Johansen acts like a prima donna rock star. Wonder how he acted when he was doing his Buster Pointdexter act.
@TheTeebuckle1 man that makes me laugh! A bit of honesty+++++
I remember when the dolls first came to England they didn't go down well atall with their platform boots and silly prancicing about,It wasn't until later that thy were appreciated . I think the Ramones made them more acceptable Love and Peace Y'all
