- This is the bonus DVD that came in the CD if you purchased one of the first 300 copies. It will probably be taken down, but until then Dolls fans can enjoy a great secret documentary for the best comeback album of all time by NY Doll surviving members Johannsen & Sylvain
I was born in Manhattan but I wasn't ready for this!
First saw Dolls on the Upper East Side. Yeah, LOUD!
Much later, after crossing the country a couple times, I hung out and crashed
with Syl at his crazy one-room apt. on MacDougal St. (large and messy with
huge and messy round bed, kitchenette and giant window).
Drove those smart and funny dudes with equip. to some gigs in my '54 GMC stepvan
- a curvaceous design with a face-like front and flashing arrow indicators.
Fun fun fun.
Sylvain was a great guitarist - I oughta know - I saw him heading up a
Soca band at the RoundHouse in London.
Tony Machine married me big sister and they lived off Union Square.
Kathy loved to play Chopin.
Stuff like that - the Big Apple used to be... NNNice.West VillageWest Village
Great!!! Love to hear stories about these guys, they seemed like a whole lot of fun..! Time flies by so fast, got to use every minute of it! -groetuitholland☮
Got to meet Syl on this tour. He was so awesome to just sit and talk with. I'll never forget it.
God Bless Sylvain Sylvain. The body is temporary...but the Soul is eternal. Truth & Soul are Eternal.
Well put Phil !!
He was a beautiful cat.
100% Agree. We've always been and always will be. Don't let them fool you with their "death" concept, it's only the suit/body. I liked all 3 of the post reunion albums, would have liked one more.
Yeah, absolutely. The soul's eternal. And we've always been and always will be. Up and above is our real home. But I wish I could find a little more on Syl & Billy's Truth & Soul though.. Anyone knows anything about it?
The New York Dolls are one of the greatest bands in the world...period...so so underrated...Aerosmith would not not be Aerosmith without the Dolls...and every single hair band of the 80's...even Bowie knocked off the Dolls..every one knocked off the New York Dolls...David Johansen and Johnny Thunders really set the stage for rock and roll...plus the Saint Valentines Massacre video in 1972 in the New York City meat packing district set another stage for video way beyond MTV. The NYC meat packing district in 1972 was an absolute " Den of Thieves"..quite the den of inequity...because it was so raw..the video was so good
Truth
what video i can’t find it
Love to see this! Fantastic. Time flies by so fast..! 20 years have past since this docu? Sylvain is not with us anymore, he's playing the greatest jam in the sky with everyone else..! 💜
This is a killer album for sure! They really did themselves proud with this one, Jack Douglas as well...
Perfect producer, inspired choice.
Jack Douglas just knows how to make Blues sound so incrdible.
@@ATK10155And R&R..!
Rest in Peace Sylvain, Arthur, Jerry, Billy (Murcia) and Jonnhy
Absolutely brilliant. Sylv fantastic. Steve Conte pure guitar genius.
Thanks for uploading this!! Love the Dolls.
Tragically heartbreaking David Johansen is the only LIVING DOLL
Not to David!
@@Toonces666Maybe, especially, for David
36:04 I just know Stevie was happy as fuck, meeting the Dolls (must’ve been his heroes, I understand that completely).
Saw them in Perth Australia in about 2011. Have no idea why they decided to play there but they did.
This albums amazing honestly
Legendary band!Big fan of sylvain sylvain
HUGE FAN of this band,♥️
13:52 love that Twilight Zone episode. David references the best things.
Best band aLL time out of New York .
39:20 Steve conte killin it!
David fantastic artist.
Look at johanson. What else could he be but bad ass rock singer. Dead taxi driver maybe?
Saint Marks Place at the Grassroots tavern way before Actress they came together Syl left but he returned and filled out the band it all happened on Saint Mark's Place
The Best
love the "new" record; (wish it was pink)
24:30...is syl ok with that?I likecthat riff..they worked on it alot..😊
I was with TREX and KISS, glamrock. I was glamrock too with my Betsy Johnson and Goody Two shoes. I went to Robert Fiance Cosmotoloy. Are beauty schools paying you to advertised them or are you being exploited? Bonnie Basha of Stanford University
At 20:57 "Do I sound like Randy Bachman" . :)
27:45...stiPe???😮
JT would hate this
And YOU.
If he was getting a cash advance he wouldn't have cared.
He wouldn't. He loved great R&R, specially from his pals.
Johnny and Jerry were the Dolls. Arthur sucked. So did the Mizrahi.
Troll, crawl back under your rock.
Why bother? FO
No
The interaction of the guitars was key to their sound: Syl's guitar parts were very good
So was his input in terms of personality
@@bernardmeyre Sylvain Sylvain was terrible. He was a fake guitarist.
Here you can hear Rao's and Trask's guitars but thankfully not Sylvain's.

Hand rubbers have no business trying to play rock and roll.
😂😊
Man, this is sooo good! Love, love, love the Dolls: I'm 67 now, but their music's still a biggest kick in the *ss, mama mia!
This is an amazing record. Pretty perfect
Michael Stipe...BRILLIANT
BRILLIANT!!!!! ITS LIKE TRAVELING BACK IN TIME TO 1973!!!!!
Excellent, David. Good stuff man. Long way from the days on Staten Island.
Just seeing this for the first time. So disappointed it is tough to get the VINLY. So good. Lol, when David said Johnny had the most enthusiasm in 72'. Steve was such a breath of fresh air to contribute, add Yaffa. So nice to see Syl alive and having fun. 'The Strat is so unlike NY Dolls'
Yaffa was such a great addition, he was pretty active post Hanoi.
❤
This doc is going to make me pull up the album, forgot how good it was.
This is genuinely exceptional. It is a very fitting memorial to Syl. I can’t imagine the bittersweet feeling David has when he hears this record because it is bringing tears to my eyes; and I never even met Syl. A truly fine swan song ❤
Sylvain sylvain❤
14:00 wisdom
thanks
i know it goes without saying, but its just not the same without johnny and the others. anyway, still lovin' the dolls. x
Morrissey once drooling viewing this!
22:40 what is YARDBIRD? and Sammy ( I wish I me)? 24:03 "Put the Pinky in", NOW THAT'S A GOOD SONG IDEA!
Yardbirds was a '60s UK band. And maybe it's the UK word for hoodlum(...)
