This is one reason the older generations were a lot tougher than youngsters are now being shielded from far too many things. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
My brother had creepy crawlers, tons of probably toxic fumes. I had the rollerskate barbie with lighter skates, I used to like to spark it off things until my mom took them. I also had the Sky Dancer, my brother realized you could shoot them and chased me with them. Good times in the 90s.
Toys like these are the reason children from previous generations were not only more intelligent, but were capable of understanding the consequences of actions, which you will Never find today.
As a young boy in the 60s, I received a chemistry set. It used an alcohol fuel flame, ammonia and other chemicals. Later. I made gunpowder from information in an encyclopedia. We had fun back then, if we could survive it. 😂
This one not only made me remember some of the toys but remember a special doll I still have. This doll came to the USA with me 1955. My mother bought it for me in 1950. One day my older sister who was a nurse left her medical bag on the kitchen counter and thought came to my head. I open the bag I saw a small pair of scissors I took the small scissors and started cutting my dolls hair. Then I went to the kitchen and took one of the kitchens knifes and proceeded to do brain surgery on Teresa that’s my Dollie’s name. To say that my mother was not happy is an understatement. I’m 68 years old. I still have Teresa she forgave me. All of my four children know the story and my six grandchildren and now you. Have good laugh ❤ Carmen
I had a lot of these toys in the 70's an 80's when I was a kid. I got my first BB gun when I was five years old and my first .22lr rifle when I was eight. We were always taught to be responsible with dangerous things and we listened.
Your story is identical to mine. Our guns were on an open rack in the house. I fired my first shotgun when I was six or seven. I remember the gun was taller than I was.
The first clackers I saw were not acrylic, they were made of glass! If the knot came undone they would rocket away at high speeds! When a girl got knocked unconscious by one in the cafeteria, the school banned them.
Growing up on the Canadian Prairies I was instructed to stuff our car’s seat belts into the crease of the seats because dad said: “damned if the government is going to tell us what to do!” … most of us survived …
I tried a pogo stick when I was a kid. It was nearly impossible to control. I was born in 1984. I’m sure I was in elementary school when I tried it. My husband had lawn darts when he was a kid. Had clackers too. One of my friends had the sky dancers and we never got injured.
Our family had Jarts when I was a kid. We never had an injury, but I can see how they could. Now they have a weight in the end instead of a dart. Creepy crawlers was my favorite toy for a long time, and yes, I burned my fingers a few times, but I still loved it😂
I laughed i remembered fun times growing up. My parents let me have matches so i could light up snakes fireworks lol. I was probably like 10. I had fun watching your reactions 😂😅😂😅❤
I question your claim of having grown up back then. Those of us that actually "grew up back then" know that "parental supervision" was a virtually unknown term. And, Sweet Summer Child, the "dark side of capitalism" is having to ask "How many children need to die before the government will impede business?"
Toys like the power tool set are good for children. They taught responsibility without being too dangerous. Most kids back then had real power tools, or fathers let them borrow theirs.
LOL none of these toys are as dangerous as the Marine Recon Improvised munitions handbook from the TET offensive in Vietnam that my friends and I spent the ages of 9-14 playing with. This was in the 80's, The TET Offensive was late 60's.
I grew up the son of a coal miner in the fifties. We didn't have many toys so we made our own out of whatever and many were dangerous. One thing we made were rifles that actually worked. We took a piece of pipe and stuck a wooden stock into one end, then we took a cherry bomb (m80 firecracker) and bent the fuse so we could hook it on the end of the barrel. Then we dropped an ore ball down the barrel and lit the fuse. Then we shook the rifle so the cherry bomb fell down it and BOOM! It would have killed us if any of us kids were in the way but fortunately that never happened. We usually just shot trees and the occasional squirrel. That's just one 'toy' we made. Now i am old and can't believe we did things like that.
When I was a kid we played with those yard darts, and if you were not paying attention you could have one hit you, they were a little dangerous, you just had to make sure you stay back when people were throwing them. I think the worst thing was a BB gun, a friend of my brother shot one at him one day and he moved and it hit our dog in the eye, and the dog lost that eye.
The crazy thing is nowadays the standards are so high for safety for toys. Kids cant have any fun toys or anything with even a SLIGHT hint of danger. That was the fun of being a kid, a little potential danger from toys! LOL
Dang, I remember having those aqua dots. Nothing ever happened to me though. I just remember I could never make anything Interesting with them Also the baby cage one is hilarious
My friend lost his eye with one of those lawn darts. Looking back at it now, it was a stupid invention and I don't know how it wasn't banned. There were so many things we did that wouldn't be normal today.
@@nateman10 I don't know one thing about you. But from your ignorance and comment I can see that you're a hateful Republican. You're here for your ego, not for the brother's.
It seems we take capitalism to a whole new level. The narrator is describing these toys like some, ody doesn't care what their products do to people, it's all completely insane ,I can't believe they ever existed.
I was born in the 70s… how did I survive?? Actually, the toys that came before me… 😲how did my parents survive?? Uranium??? Actually I remember my 6th grade teacher playing with a blob of mercury on the table with his bare hands. Now they will evacuate a whole school if an old glass thermometer breaks. Yeah my generation barely made it out of the 80s alive 😂
I had a creepy crawly machine
This is one reason the older generations were a lot tougher than youngsters are now being shielded from far too many things. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
I think so too. I am an old man who grew up in those days. It was fun though!
I had those power tools as a kid..in 1971
We played yard darts as kids. I owned several of those toys.
My brother had creepy crawlers, tons of probably toxic fumes. I had the rollerskate barbie with lighter skates, I used to like to spark it off things until my mom took them. I also had the Sky Dancer, my brother realized you could shoot them and chased me with them. Good times in the 90s.
Pogo sticks were fun! Clackers were amazing! I understand the danger though. LOL.
Toys like these are the reason children from previous generations were not only more intelligent, but were capable of understanding the consequences of actions, which you will Never find today.
The weapon you're thinking of similar to the clackers is the South American bola.
My siblings and I had a set of clackers. I think the noise drove my parents crazy
LOL, I remember some of these toys. Yup, I'm old 🤪
Bag -O- Glass was my favorite growing up.
As a young boy in the 60s, I received a chemistry set. It used an alcohol fuel flame, ammonia and other chemicals. Later. I made gunpowder from information in an encyclopedia. We had fun back then, if we could survive it. 😂
I just gotta comment again! First I was shocked over the chemistry kits. But it's the nuclear kit that puts the cherry topping for me. Just sayin! 😄😯

😂😂 love it 🎉
Back in the 1960s ,when I was a child, we were living dangerously! 😂 I remember many of these toys.
Me too 😊!!!
This should explain everything!
I had a lot of these toys in the 70's an 80's when I was a kid. I got my first BB gun when I was five years old and my first .22lr rifle when I was eight. We were always taught to be responsible with dangerous things and we listened.

K-Marts used to sell BB and Pellet guns for kids in their gun section. You would have "kids" toys for sale right along with rifles and shotguns.
The first clackers I saw were not acrylic, they were made of glass! If the knot came undone they would rocket away at high speeds! When a girl got knocked unconscious by one in the cafeteria, the school banned them.
These toys are alone helped shape the Gen X age group. I had several of these. I still have lawn Jarts in my attic
That's why us older people are tough we had the most fun and had the wildest toys
Growing up on the Canadian Prairies I was instructed to stuff our car’s seat belts into the crease of the seats because dad said: “damned if the government is going to tell us what to do!” … most of us survived …
I had a clacker! I’m amazed I didn’t hurt myself lol.
These reactions were hilarious 😂
Cool. You guys are doing tv series now too. You need to react to the SOPRANOS or DEADWOOD
Breaking Bad! I would say walking dead but it’s so long… or game of thrones but that is so graphic and has so much nudity
Reaction to the Powermite tool set was priceless lol. Keep up the great work!
The only one of these our family had was the lawn dart. Yes us kids got hurt with these.
I tried a pogo stick when I was a kid. It was nearly impossible to control. I was born in 1984. I’m sure I was in elementary school when I tried it. My husband had lawn darts when he was a kid. Had clackers too. One of my friends had the sky dancers and we never got injured.
I had a pogo stick & clackers. My dad fell off pogo stick & had to get stitches. 😢 Gen X, it is amazing we made it to adulthood 😂😂
I'm 64 years old and still have several of these toys! My kids also played with them. 🤣
Our family had Jarts when I was a kid. We never had an injury, but I can see how they could. Now they have a weight in the end instead of a dart.

I received two of those toys for Christmas when I was young.😅
That is the dark side of capitalism.
I grew up then and what you see as dark I saw fun and adventure with parental supervision
I question your claim of having grown up back then.

Bahahha 😂😂😂 no grandpa can NOT go on the gas powered togo stick !
Bahaha also i have totally played lawn darts..with and without fireworks 😂
They made the best toys!

That's what makes Americans so tough. If you make it through childhood, you can handle anything.

You have to figure 8 years old back then, is the equivalent to about 15 today
I was born in 1965. We had fun and kids are not as brave.
Kids are kids, it’s parents that aren’t as brave

I also had the hot milds
