If you don’t think about what’s inside a hot dog you’re usually gonna have a great time. And for people who don’t eat pork, they make all-beef hotdogs so everyone can treat their coronaries to this delicious snack.
@@M00159 True! I’m not as well versed on meatless hotdogs (although I’ve tried several meatless “chicken” options that were pretty tasty). Do you have any brands you’d suggest for plant-based hot dogs?
There are lots of great award winning cheese makers in the US, but what is sold as brand "American Cheese" is a processed cheese food, that tastes pretty good, and melts nicely without separating. Not the healthiest, but makes a good grilled cheese sandwich 😅
As a native Wisconsinite, I prefer my grilled cheese with grade A slices of colby cut with a cheese knife. Nice thick slices slow-cooked for extra melty goodness.
American cheese can be good… it was invented to use up the ends and byproducts of cheese making-like whey, which is natural. It’s emulsified, but higher quality american cheese doesn’t have added oils, etc.
Forget the chocolate and just visit Hershey Park in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They have a ride before you enter the amusement park area where they show you the machinery its made on.
You guys should react to the movie MY COUSIN VINNY and you'll learn everything you'll need to know about grits. Also it's a comedy classic with Joe Pesci
Don't ban anything. One of the best things about the U.S. is the number of choices everyone has, if you don't like Hersheys there are hundreds of different types of chocolates available. (I am not exaggerating). I love Hersheys but I hate Grits and sweet potatoes. There is so many choices that you can get whatever you like.
Waffles are (or should be) crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It's a batter type bread (best explanation for someone not American). They are savory and typically topped with butter and syrup. Fried chicken, of course, crispy well seasoned and moist. The two together, topped with syrup is good. Most foreigners when they try the salty/sweet things like them. Try taking a cold Coke/Pepsi fill a glass half full and add a scoop of ice cream for a cola float, doesn't have to be root beer. So good!
The reason I have NEVER ordered chicken and waffles is that they don't serve it with, e.g., strawberry preserves. I don't want "maple" syrup on chicken. I'd put fenugreek in the batter if I wanted the chicken tasting like maple. By the way, I once was asked by a German tourist at a hotel buffet, what the hot white cereal was. I told him "polenta," only, white instead of yellow. He seemed satisfied and willing to give the grits a go.
I love Hershey's chocolate. Unlike Ferrero Rocher and Ghirardelli, it doesn't set off a migraine headache for me. A world that eats blood sausage, sweetbreads, tripe , haggis, calf's head, tarantula, silverfish and century eggs should tread lightly when calling American cheese disgusting.
I'm just the opposite when it comes to chocolate!! Hershey's give me horrible migraines, so I stick to Ghirardelli and Lindt for my chocolate fix! But then again, I prefer dark chocolate (Lindt Dark Chocolate Intense Orange is my fav) over milk chocolate...
Some years ago I met my cousin's in-laws who were visiting from Germany. They were very proud and excited to share some chocolate... It was Hershey's lmao
You can get sugar added and no sugar added peanut butter and either smooth or chuncky texture. I prefer smooth with sugar but thats what a lot of US kids grew up with. Almond butter is the same and some brands make cashew and sunflower seed butter too.
I may be American, but I often have foreign taste buds. I love making/buying... 1) Penang Curry (coconut milk, penang spice combo, bell peppers, & shrimp or chicken) 2) Chipotle (American chain restaurant of Mexican inspired food) 3) Green smoothies (raw leafy greens & fruit ...such as kale, collard, chard, parsley, or cilantro ...with pear, banana, mango, apple, pineapple, etc. Then blend in a blender with a little ice and water or coconut water) 4) Sushi (with masago, wasabi, and tempura) 5) Vietnamese style spring rolls (has to be the semi-transparent rice paper wrap, with fresh greens/veggies, shrimp, and peanut sauce) But who doesn't love pizza and BBQ?
Nothing better than toast with peanut butter, American cheese and crispy bacon except maybe a grilled cheese and tomato soup. mmmm You should get a po box and let people send you items to try, if that's an option for you.
I’ve never had chicken and waffles in my life, nor would I know where to get it. And I can’t get past the idea of pouring maple syrup onto fried chicken. But I suppose it’s good as it is so popular down south.
For the foreigners out there, picture a big city, like New York City for example, with lots of tall office buildings. Hundreds of office workers let out all at the same time for a 30 minute lunch break. What to serve people in a hurry? Soup and cold sandwich combo. Great in cold weather and prepared ahead of time then served quickly. Cheese melted on a hot sandwich would be wonderful, but a hot sandwich has to be made when ordered and many popular traditional cheeses are hard so they take too long to melt in this situation. In comes American cheese, a cheese like product designed to melt quickly in a hot sandwich similar in color to cheddar ( US cheddar ) with a mild flavor that compliments many foods. Not what you're accustomed to but common for us.
In a george carlin stand up comedy bit, George said this about Americans, "If you were selling sauteed raccoons assholes on a stick, Americans would buy them and eat them." Lol. He also said the national emblem of America should be a big bowl of macaroni and cheese. (The bald eagle is the national emblem of America)
American Cheese, . . . What this video called "American" Cheese is Processed Cheese Food. Real American is an unaged type of Farmers Cheese. Both American Cheese and the Processed Cheese Food became popular here because of how they break down when heated. They breakdown at a significantly higher temperature giving any dish a creamier texture than other cheeses can easily create.
American cheese is made by mixing cheese with milk, butter, and sodium citrate (a salt of citric acid, which you can make by mixing baking soda with citric acid) to emulsify it. It was invented as a means of using scraps of cheese that wouldn't otherwise be usable, which is part of why it's one of the cheapest cheeses available here. So, yes, it's not legal to call it cheese (it has to be called "cheese food" or "processed cheese" due to the non-cheese ingredients), but the other ingredients aren't particularly unusual / artificial. It melts very well. It might help to think of it more as kinda like a cheese sauce than a cheese.
Waffles are *almost* like american pancakes, but crispier and with maple syrup pockets. 😂 If you have wheat flour, baking powder, milk, sugar, eggs, and butter or vegetable oil, all you're missing is the waffle iron. You can make your own waffle any time you want. :) highly recommend. If you don't have maple syrup, golden syrup or even Karo would suffice in a pinch.
Chicken and waffles, no thank you, grilled cheese and tomato soup is my lunch today, If only I had a ice cold Root beer to wash it down. My kids love a spoon full of peanut butter, Thanksgiving isn't thanksgiving with out Sweet potato casserole ( I use walnuts not pecans). Peanut butter with apples and cinnamon and my kids are dancing in their seats happy, with a glass of milk.
Traditional Cheese is 100% dairy. Processed cheese food is a mix of traditional cheese and vegetable oil. Cheese Whiz is awesome and don't go criticizing it around Philadelphia where it is a key component in the Philly cheesesteak sandwich or you'll catch a beating Black buddy don't believe all the vegan propaganda these are healthy foods if eaten in moderation just like any other food. You can't cancel Cheez Whiz my friend. Also it's the same as the cheese sauce in nachos.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese is very comforting and easy to make, but I don’t like American cheese, so I usually use Provolone for my grilled cheese sandwiches. We definitely eat peanut butter in our house - sometimes in sandwiches, but usually we just dip our apple slices in it. Grits are a staple - they can be eaten alone or with sauce or other foods on top. Different people like different consistencies so they are pretty diverse. I make them a bit on the thicker side , with just butter, salt, and pepper (and sometimes cheddar cheese)
A lot of these foods were invented in wartime and during the great depression to feed more people cheaply. The high sugar content kept people alive when there wasn't much food to eat so the more calories the better. Sliced bread was invented to feed more people with less flour. Sliced bread is big and fluffy because it is full of air. Air has no flavor. If you eat pita or a baguette you need much more flour to make a small dense bread. Sliced bread was one loaf to feed a lot of people. That was the idea. But people got used to these foods and we still love.
Many people outside the south don't know how to cook or correctly eat grits. You eat grits WITH your protein like fufu in africa or rice in asia. Not meant to be eaten alone unless u make grits cereal w/butter cinnamon, nutmeg and suger. And I've never in my 65 years been served a sweet potato casserole as shown in the video.
Grits is eaten everywhere in the world that people grow corn (maize) for food. It just goes by a lot of different names, and is served with a lot of different seasonings and toppings :)
Root beer generally doesn't contain alcohol. It's fermented sassafras with the alcohol is cooked off just as it is with bread. The same is true for ginger ale which doesn't contain alcohol. Both were generally the only non-alcoholic beverages one could get at a bar. Pre-Made sliced bread really poor quality containing a lot of preservatives. I mean I can go to a bakery and ask them for a loaf of fresh bread and have them slice it for me. Problem is it's going to go bad after a day or two. Pre-Sliced bread can last a week.
Despite the name, Root “Beer” is not beer and is normally non-alcoholic. I’m told you can find some alcoholic versions, but it is not typical and would be clearly marked as such. Some brands of all-beef hot dogs are halal, but it might be unlikely to find those kinds used commercially when making corn dogs.
This is why 48% of the American population is overweight or obese. Ugh. On another topic, I'm excited about Algeria becoming a member of the BRICS alliance. Very significant in terms of having an alternative to the EU's dollar dominance, making international trade payments possible in each country's own currency, as well as avoiding economic sanctions and tarrifs. Let's go!
Root " Beer " is not alcoholic. I've actually had homemade root beer. Years ago. Grit's are basically a type of porridge....add anything for different flavours, berries for example for sweet or cheese and herbs for a savory. I'm Canadian can't stand sandwhich bread ( we have it here too ) it is way too sweet and American cheese is gross we have that here too. Scientifically proven to be VERY bad for you and is actually one ingredient away from plastic. Luckily other types of cheese and bread is available , so it comes down to choice really.
Do not believe all Americans eat chicken and waffles, I am a 64 year old American, born and raised in Peoria Heights Illinois, and I have never had chicken and waffles in my life. I have had chicken, and I have had waffles, but only for breakfast, and I have never had the two things together at the same time.
Grits are not made with white corn. They're made with corn that has been made into hominy by soaking it in a solution to remove the yellow hull. Yellow grits are made from the whole kernel.
That's just processed cheese.. America actually makes some really good cheeses.. Goat milk cheese. Cheddar.. Bleu cheese.. Pepper Jack.. We actually have what is called American cheese that isn't processed.. like cheese they put on burgers.. it's a medium hard cheese that comes in two colors.. yellow or white.. White is the best.. it's used in Mexican restaurants to make a cheese dip for corn chips.. it is so good.. loaded with spices.. chili peppers. Lots of flavor. Pop tarts are best eaten warm not out of the package.. pop it in the toaster or microwave for 25 seconds.. depending on the wattage of the microwave.. 30 seconds in some microwaves can burn your mouth.. We don't have just Hershey chocolate. We also have the high end chocolates from other countries .. it's not just Hershey.. Stoves makes a good chocolate.. who ever made this video.. left out a lot of info.. Grits are awesome.. cooked properly.. It can be eaten savory.. or sweet.. In the morning I like mine slightly sweet.. milk and butter..
The Natures Valley (I think?) Organic pop tarts are made with real sugar and real fruit are better than the fake ingredient Pop Tart brand. Both of them are better warmed in the toaster or you can just eat them on the go without warming.
Rootbeer actually isn’t alcoholic, the irony is that ALL classic soda started off as “medicine.” Think about it Coke, and cocaine. The Coke company overtime took cocaine out of their ingredients when it discovered how strong cocaine can be as a drug, but there’s other questionable stuff in the soda. Meanwhile we kept Root beer sodas while the rest of the world seems to have used the sassafras tree as a part of their medicine and medicine flavors. One of the best tricks to help foreigners enjoy root beer is to serve it with a scoop or two (or three) of vanilla ice cream to cream a root beer float and 9/10 most foreigners who complain about root beer enjoy the float. Same method can be used with Hersheys chocolate to serve it with S’more, though they’ll have to battle through the marshmallow, but the S’more tends to be a game changer. Any other chocolate is too thick and ruins the balance.
I think this video spoke some hard truths about American popular food. I doubt there are many Americans that will honestly disagree with _every_ example shown -- they're going to find one or another pretty unappealing. (For me, the big one is 'sweet potato casserole' -- one of the most repulsive things I've ever smelled or tasted. It's even worse than Hersey's chocolate ;p )
When my son was little and wanted American cheese instead of real cheese, I'd tell him it wasn't healthy because it was made out of melted basketballs 🏀😆
I love chicken, I love waffles, but I don't like having chicken and waffles at the same time! I just don't get it. Grilled Cheese sandwich and tomato soup is one of my favorite meals when I don't want to spend a long time cooking.
OMG, George and Dermot from the TRY channel LOATHE peanut butter like no one I have ever seen. This clip is too funny--we really do love so many things that are likely not great for health. Love grits--savory or sweet--but home-made--not instant. Yuck. Hershey bar always taste really salty to me for some reason. Puts me off.
Most of this is traditional American JUNK food. Pop Tarts? I do love a good corndog though. Guys, it is nothing like a donut. It is dunked in cornmeal batter, so It has a unique texture and is mostly savory, although corn has a natural sweetness to it. Paired with a good mustard, it is delicious.
Not everybody eats chicken waffles the way it is shown in the video. The way to eat is to eat the chicken first and have the Waffle and syrup afterward as a desert. Also, it is more of a Los Angeles thing rather than a Southern thing. MOJO is not the most accurate channel.
Chicken n waffles is bomb only with butter and syrup. Hershey's is gross and taste nothing like other chocolate I've tasted If you've had cornbread then basically a corn dog is a hotdog covered in cornbread batter and deep-fried, doesn't really go together to me. Sweet potatoes casserole ummm 😔🤣 lazy man's candied yams lol. Pop tarts are cardboard and sugar but they are still very popular. You notice the acid they put in the chocolate most of our food is filled with many things we shouldn't consume. Many foods that are banned elsewhere are legal here🤔
In my house we have yam casserole with nuts, butter, brown sugar, and marshmallows. Fight me! Yams are better ❤ also american cheesr is gross. Long live cheddar!
I’m American and very much dislike most of the find mentioned. Also different areas of the country have different food. Corn dogs, chicken and waffles and grits are not at all popular where I live. This is a list of SOME of the worst food in America. I do like peanut butter though 😊. There is of course some great American food and the availability of great foreign cuisine is available in most parts of the US, thankfully.
I’ve been on a root beer kick lately. At least it doesn’t have caffeine. I love my peanut butter. I’d have to bring some with me if I leave the country. Pop tarts taste like card board lol and cheese whizz is gross. I tried it a long time ago, it was pure salt the consistency of silly string. Yuk The one time I had grits it was like watery tasteless mashed potatoes with sand mixed in. I live in a northern state tho, maybe where I had them didn’t know what they were doing. lol
I'm borderline offended by them mocking my grits or my peanut butter. And sweet potato casserole. And root beer. And lots of ice. 😂😂
Lol I feel the same way 😂
Right?! How dare you!! 🤣🤣

Yes, ice cold frosty mug!!

I live in the US and I don’t understand chicken and waffles
I go for funnel cakes and not corn dogs at fairs.
I guess I must not be an American. I don't need to have any of these in my life. Although a cinnamon & sugar pop-tart does make me happy. 😁
Grits are not made with white corn. They're made with corn that has been made into hominy by soaking it in a solution to remove the yellow hull. Yellow grits are made from the whole kernel.
I've been an American for all of my life. Corn dogs are good. Peanut butter is okay. The rest is crap.
Thanks for this comment, I'll have to try them!
I’m an American and I don’t understand why people eat chicken and waffles.
Who puts slaw on a waffle?
OMG, George and Dermot from the TRY channel LOATHE peanut butter like no one I have ever seen. This clip is too funny--we really do love so many things that are likely not great for health. Love grits--savory or sweet--but home-made--not instant. Yuck. Hershey bar always taste really salty to me for some reason. Puts me off.
I’ve never once thought hersheys tasted like vomit. Lol. It tastes like chocolate. And can someone tell me what coke and pepsi did to them?
Yes chicken and waffles:
1. Sounds disgusting.
2. Tastes very good.
3. Bring a rib spreader so you can do your own open heart surgery afterwards.
Most of these items are so processed that you can’t call them food.
Chicken n waffles is bomb only with butter and syrup. Hershey's is gross and taste nothing like other chocolate I've tasted
If you've had cornbread then basically a corn dog is a hotdog covered in cornbread batter and deep-fried, doesn't really go together to me.
Sweet potatoes is Yams in USA. I've never seen a yam in US.
American cheese is not cheese because it has too much milk in it
Waffles and chicke with syrup is disgusting.
As an American I think pop tarts are disgusting
You can find great American chocolate, but Hersey's is not it. It absolutely does taste like vomit.
Okay, I like a lot of weird American stuff, but sweet potato casserole? 🤢 Just why?
Black is right about the 🇫🇷, but what do they know? They eat snails and maggot cheese.
All of it is amazing except the cheese. Don't eat the cheese
Of the foods listed, I only eat peanut butter, cheese (real cheese), and whole grain bread. The rest is crap and bad for you.
Seems this video was created to make each food gross and yucky in some way. To each his own. 😝 😀
Do NOT even bother with "Grits". They suck!
I hate when she always saying chicken in waffles being around forever. Not true . Also chicken and waffle sucks.
Lol. It's all unhealthy
One word for it, Gross
It has no tanginess it’s milky creamy and sweet
I’ve been on a root beer kick lately. At least it doesn’t have caffeine. I love my peanut butter. I’d have to bring some with me if I leave the country. Pop tarts taste like card board lol and cheese whizz is gross. I tried it a long time ago, it was pure salt the consistency of silly string. Yuk The one time I had grits it was like watery tasteless mashed potatoes with sand mixed in. I live in a northern state tho, maybe where I had them didn’t know what they were doing. lol
