  • A freak accident almost happened at home, just thought I should share this so everyone can stay safe. There is nothing wrong with the item itself, but that said accidents are accidnets right?

Usually these type heaters have instructions to NEVER plug them into power strips or extension cords, there are just too many variables involved, it would be best to just plug your new heater directly into your wall's electrical socket.

The powerstrip is the problem. The wire has to be rated for the high current. It's best to never leave heaters on when you are not home. Dyson will probably never actually tell you the problem but when heaters get too hot they draw more power and that causes more current to flow which makes them exceed the current limits they are suppose to have, which causes a condition where too much current is flowing and that heats up the wires which again increases the current until you have a fire.

glad this passed by safely .
what you have on your hands is most likely caused by loose connection between the plate in the plug and the female hub .. this cased excessive hating over time not instantly .
so get a hub with ceramic inserts and mechanically suspended female plates .
and make sure any male to female connection doesn't make any izzzz noise if you move it slightly under load even a tiny izz could make big problems over time .

Ooooh. Yeah. Never plug a space heater into a power bar. Always right into the outlet.

yes, these have always deemed very dangerous on the wrong or a weak outlet no matter what brand they are since I have used it and my fuse kept popping and after 3 days, i had to return it. I been using heating mats, they are safer but they have heating lines inside the mat so idk if cats will bite or damage it while making biscutes.

That too.... so lots to consider when having meows as they can go thru things. For my heated mattress I had that concern as well, so always monitor the condition of these

Electrical equipment is undergoing major quality drop for a while.
in pursuit of cheapening the process the constituting materials as well as methods of assembly going down the drain. even on bits that are meant as insulation which is indeed what causes some of these problems.
i have no idea what can be done about it as it seems industry wide at the moment. maybe buy much older (like decade or two) plugs and splits but unused lot?

Oh no!! Never plug an item like that to a power strip, it goes directly to the socket please! Be careful l, you have a lot of cats 🙏🏻.

Less animations and sounds please. I wanna hear what you are saying and not be distracted graphics lol
13a is 13 amps. and should not be plugged into a power strip not because a good power strip rated 15a can't handle it but because most people have OTHER stuff plugged into the power strip. Combined that will go over the power strip rating. Get a heavy duty extension cord rated at least 15a and run that from wall to heater. Heck if it was me I would get a 20a even if the wiring in my walls were rated 15a and on a 15a circuit breaker. At least this way you narrow the problems to the wiring and breakers in the walls. If fire it would NOT be your fault since a 20a cord is never gonna fail before wall wiring and wall circuit breakers.
