Think of this (and the previous two albums) as a Broadway show. Sundowning: Act 1 - we’re introduced to Vessel and Sleep. Sleep is “wooing” vessel to spend eternity in this world he/she has created specifically for Vessel. TPWBYT: Act 2 - Vessel has accepted to stay with Sleep, and journeys through the various possibilities for his eternity with Sleep Take me Back To Eden: Act 3 - Vessel sees a “door” for one option that is guarded (The Summoning), and has to convince Sleep to let him see it. Sleep says he cannot see in, unless this is for sure the option he chooses… so he does. What follows is (at first) a world full of love and warmth with a woman who seems familiar, but he grows very attached to. As the album progresses, Vessel gets flashes of who he once was, and begins having to face these demons that he had in real life, all while chasing this woman who feels familiar. It turns at “Are you really Ok.” He recognizes the woman from his real life relationship, watches her self-harm, and can’t fix her, despite an incredible love for her and wanting to. The apparition is her ghost after ultimately succumbing to her own self-harm. We start to learn that Vessel is a normal man, and he went through a traumatic event with the woman he loved. It was toxic, and she needed help (likely mental health concerns), and when she died, he spiraled, and created this world of Sleep and Vessel to fill the void that was now missing. TMBTE the track is him finally deconstructing what’s happening and tearing down Vessel, Sleep, the whole thing. Euclid is a rebirth. A re-awake ing from this depressive funk he has been in, after her death, and finally making peace, and moving on. A new version of himself. That’s my take anyway.
I love that ending, a meta-analysis of creating this art and pushing out this distraction from issues (real or metaphorical) and walking through into self actualization and moving on. That's fucking gold.
@@destroyerofdreams42069 hmm, that's interesting and fitting for essentially a horror band. I do wish this story would be made into a movie, it would probably bomb, but it would be one of those cult movies (pun) that is really emotionally relevant to society.
Euclid was a very wonderful treat for the fans who have been around and have dived deep into the band. It has great call backs and felt like a thank you to the fans. It also seemed like a good bye to the Vessel we've gotten familiar with. It seems he will be moving on from the past and coming to terms with it.
I have cried multiple times listening to this. Never really experienced that with a new album. Feel like a Taylor swift fan. The artistry just hits me like no other music does.
@@nickjackson7131 I think @RafaeruC is referring to the entire passage from TNDNBTG: We tangle endlessly Like lovers entwined I know for the last time You will not be mine So give me the night, the night, the night
@@manta5890 For me at least, is a strange feeling, i listened to sundowning countless times since it release. When starts this section on Euclid is the feeling of closure, remind me of this journey, how the band grew up since it beginning and how i grew up too. So is these mix of emotions, nostalgic, a little sad because looks like a end of this chapter, but is a happy end after all.
On Ascensionism, when Vessel says “digital demons make the dark feel heavenly,” there’s some 8-bit audio in the background on just that line. The detailllllls, bro!
Not only that, yesterday when I was listening I noticed in 2:06 in lyric "Gitches in the code, gaps in a strange dream" if you listen very carefully you hear when he says Glithes the sound actually glitches for like half second. Brutal detail.
I think a lot of metalcore bands get caught up in the odd time signatures and whatnot to display their talent, and they are talented. But I think they miss something in a songs simplicity. That's why I love sleep token and the way they write music. Basic time signatures but you don't get bored. And I say basic generally, they are definitely not a basic band lol
YES YES YES!!! Literally every reactor and their moms put this album review on their patreon, and the fact my favorite reactor put it on here for free just makes me so happy, thank you Alex 🥹❤
At the beginning of Euclid he says "Just run it back, give me five whole minutes." It is a five minute fourteen second song. Pretty sure it is five minutes from that point.
@@brektu same here. I just wish that “I know” section appeared at least once more on the track. It’s such a cool flow that’s barely utilized, and I often have to rewind on each listen to get my fill of it
I agree, Rain has stuck with me the most since my first listen. It has the most structure out of most of the songs in the latter half of the album. When every other song is just going to and from different types of sounds, Rain felt like I could keep up with it the most and enjoy it on multiple listens. The heavy drops in it just hit for me as well.
You are spot on. The chaotic mix of genres are representing the chaotic mix of thoughts and emotions a human brain goes through in the process of forging relationships. I believe that this album was Vessel getting over a relationship that caused pain. That pain may have initially started by the other person but ultimately he realized the pain was from himself to himself. The interesting thing is that it concludes with him rising above only to start the familiar refrain from the Sundowning album which makes me think the cycle is starting over. Even he understands that it is much harder fight to maintain that growth as a person.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read Notice how they said “For me” Did you just completely skim over that part or something? Metal really doesn’t need any more elitism dude.
Not going to lie, you showing the meaning of the term "Aqua Regia" actually helped me better understand the song. Especially the "Gold rush, acid flux, saturate me I can't get enough" line. Also, I wouldn't call Vore a filler track. In fact, to me it seems like Sleep Token is so calculating in how they lay out their albums that every song is needed otherwise the overarching story just won't work. To me, Vore represents being consumed by emotion, and its placement between Aqua Regia and Ascensionism seems critical. In Aqua Regia, he's starting to express the hardships he's facing in his relationship, in Vore he's swallowed up by pain and wants nothing more than to be with his other, and then with Ascensionism he wants to go beyond the pain. Also (Part 2), I've heard DYWTYLM quite a few times now, and I've only now realized it's not about someone else loving him but about him loving himself, makes the song a lot deeper than it seemed.
For me, "The Apparition" and "The Rain" are the best songs on this album. As soon as I started listening to them, I immediately fell in love with them.
@@QuikSilver2190 Don't sleep on the summoning and chokehold. Really the whole fucking album is amazing. We can all agree that DYWTYLM is no one's favorite though
The piano on Ascensionism is so haunting, and the weeping of the keys puts me in a dream like state. Only for the heavy breakdowns to pull you up like moving through the different stages of inception. It's pure genius and needs an award on that song alone!
Dude.......I don't cry very often.......but Are You Really Ok? Makes me sob. It's by far my favorite song and I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets absolutely obliterated and bawls like a baby when you hear it
I thought I was gonna be ok cuz I had listened to it a few times and knew what to expect.....but I watched this video at work and had to hide in the bathroom cuz I was almost ugly crying
I’m so glad you’ve done this. Front to back listens really adds emphasis on the whole story told. This has surpassed my favourite band even, and being the best album ive heard since Queen. Saw them live last month as well and it’s just as ethereal live as the almost dreamscape you enter with this album/trilogy.
Vore is soooo good, that and Rain are two of my absolute favorites. Not fillers at all, they're so good and they're incredible live. Saw them at Louder than Life
@@AlexanderPochertPiano you welcome! had the chance to see the live version with Ragnar Zolberg singing the high pitched vocal parts in 2017. Pure poetry.
This album is just the culmination of beauty that Sleep Token has been over the years. Unreal how each song can make you feel something so unique and different. Almost puts you in a trance and you come out feeling so refreshed. On my 6th listen and I hear and feel something different each time. Thanks for doing the entire album and just letting it play, Alex!
Chokehold and Take Me Back To Eden - the title track - JUST AMAZING TRACKS I really, really enjoyed the complete album, with the elements of pop, hip hop, rap and other genres of music that I don’t even listen to combined with Metal - feels really great! They really outdid themselves with this album!
You have to react to The Night Does Not Belong to God. That is the first song on their first album and that's what Euclid calls back to, ending the trilogy of albums.
Personally I love every song on this album, and I don't think there is a single filler song. every single song on this album fills a purpose, and all of them are there for a reason, and it just creates a fully complete, incredible album, that I think will be album of the year for me.
Can't stop listening to Sleep Token. Its incredible really! There's something about that just hooks you, its as if they are filling a musical void at this point in time
I’m so glad you did a full listen to this album. Especially watching you react to granite, ascensionism and dywtylm. I knew I KNEW you will love granite. That is the one song I knew you had to check out. I love this album definitely an S tier album
@@asleep.3680 I mean i get why Vore wont hit for everyone, definitely more personal to me as it relates more to my overall taste in music. The shoegazey, black metal like influences in the song really set it apart from the rest on the album imo.
DAMN STRAIGHT 9.0 FOR ASCENSIONISM!! When you changed it to an 8.7 I was like just wait! Just wait! As soon as that "you make me want to disappear" part kicked in I knew you were gonna change it again! Lmao great shit!
Easily my most anticipated album of the year, this was the big one and it didn’t disappoint in anyway. The six songs they released are all very strong especially Vore, Chokehold, Granite and The Summoning but in my opinion they’re not even the best songs on the album as the six unreleased ones are just next level Sleep Token. I love them all but my top three are Probably the last three Rain, Take Me Back to Eden and Euclid but then Ascensionism, Are You Really Ok? and The Apparition are fantastic as well, I’ve heard this album 8 times now and can honestly say that I haven’t skipped one song. This is without a doubt my album of the year and a masterpiece. I agree with you about what TMBTE is about and the rest of the trilogy(you need to listen to Sundowning and This Place Will Become Your Tomb)Vessel recovering from a traumatic relationship but I feel that the girl was self harming(Are You Really Ok?) and eventually committed suicide leaving Vessel all alone lost in depression. I believe that he found peace when he was asleep so began to think about it as the ancient deity Sleep and in his way begun to worship it, in this album Vessel is finally getting his life back together, able to fight through the depression and ascend to a state where he can feel positive about himself and as a result become someone new. This is of course my opinion, I could be wrong but I feel that Sleep Tokens music is open to interpretation. Worship
@@Jrocka7xI like Aqua Regia but DYWTYLM even though it’s a pretty good song for me is the weakest on the album but it does a good job of being a bridge between the six new songs and a strong ending, it does link up well with the ending of The Apparition with the electronic elements.
If that's the case, then that colors the meaning to so many tracks--Blood Sport, Levitate, The Apparition, etc. Even makes sense of his wedding ring in The Love You Want, and the meaning of the video.
@@JakeStuder Bloodsport in particular seems to be a very personal song to Vessel, which explains the tears at the end of the live version he did by himself at Lafayette. The song and the video of ‘The Way That You Were’ seem to be about him remembering somebody that he has lost and of course the girl disappears at the end of the video as if she wasn’t really there. We’ll probably never know the truth but I feel that Vessel has been channeling his grief through his music and that explains why many of us feel such an emotional connection to the songs.
It’s tough to rank them, but Euclid is at the top for me, especially after several listens. Probably the nostalgia factor, but it’s such a great ending.
The last song, Euclid, is almost written ENTIRELY by callbacks from previous songs, calling the writing for it genius would be a huge understatement. Once you know all the callbacks and references, it feels like the perfect ending to your favorite movie
@@kalewhite1922 as another fellow knower, I had been wondering if this was all for her for a while. This whole album just made it all fall into place now. What an incredible love letter and hopefully goodbye, for both their sakes.
I always liked Rain but it took a few listens to get me to love it. Now it's one of my favorites. But Ascensionism is holding strong at number one. Rain and The Apparition both beautifully demonstrate how incredible their drummer is. And knowing Vessel does everything but the drums makes it that much more impressive
It’s a trilogy telling the same story, starting with sundowning and the last song Euclid directly calls back to the first song of sundowning “the night does not belong to god” the most perfect way to end it
I really love the way you talk about lyrics and your interpretation of them, its what sets you apart from a lot of music reviewers and its refreshing to get someone else's insight on what they think a song is trying to portray
This is why I love music so much. The way you interpreted this album was almost the same way I did. The only thing is, the way YOU interpreted this album is exactly what I’m going through now and have been for about a year now. The music people create will relate to others, and those people become the fans and supporters. It’s all about building a community, not being famous. These guys are incredibly talented and motivate me to keep making music. They’re doing what they were put on this planet to do and I’m so glad they found each other and and I’m ready for the next album!
This reaction was my first listen to this album, I'm also new to sleep token, and I was multi-tasking while watching, but when are you really OK came on I dropped everything and started bawling my eyes out lol How couldn't you?
This album hits completely different when you are reading the lyrics in its entirety. If you are just listening to the music its great, but reading and understanding the lyrics while listening brings this album to a whole different level. Amazing
I’m so glad to see you check out the entire album! I was hoping for one song at least but this is amazing. Haven’t watched it yet but I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
Hey Alex…. Thank You! I wish you had started w Sundowning, then This Place Will Become Your Tomb, then Take Me back to Eden…. The story being told from “The Night Does Not Belong To God”- “Euclid” is amazing. Very Progressive, telling a story over those 3 albums, with almost every song having a counterpart song to go with it as well. 🖤 Worship! 🖤
I had my ears cleaned yesterday because of some major hearing problems, half an hour of absolute torture. In the end it was worth it, to clearly hear this gem of an album.
For me the reason why ST called this album its title is because of the sheer callbacks. Take Me Back to Eden, the song, had a lot of callbacks in itself (esp to Chokehold, with some lyrical reference). But the best and obvious callback in this album thus far is Euclid, and the album title is a perfect easter egg to that. Eden = beginning = callback to the first song off their first album, The Night Does Not Belong to God off Sundowning. Give it a listen and you'll get the reference ❤
Perfect way to put it there at the end. This was not just a music album from a band, this was ART. A journey, the album takes you through so many emotions. I can't remember the last time an album drove my mood in such a perfect way. It's just incredible.
This album and specifically "Are you really okay?" Have been devastating to me. Getting over a break up and this banger of an album dropped, it has been amazing. Its emotionally taxing but I can appreciate it's beauty at the same time.
It helps by hearing the words I actually want or wanted to say at the time. It's too damn heavy to just keep listening to, but I find myself coming back.
I feel you. In fact, for me is a bit different since I'm fixing what got broken but has been such a long painful journey. Now that a new chapter of the relationship is opening I'm floating between positive thoughts about the future and being scared as fuck. Sleep Token music is therapy for my suffering.
Nothing will beat this album for AOTY. If something does I'll be very happy, but this was perfection. Euclid was my favorite because it tied up everything with a perfect ribbon. You should definitely do this for their other albums, this was really fun.
Yes, this is actually a very important album that brings modern culture and niche culture together and can change both genres for a long time. But, because of the generic wash production on this album that plagues pop music, this album is gonna be held back from recognition and this album will sadly fly under the radar in overall cultural history. An actual tragedy.
Take me back to Eden is the song I’m replaying the most. The entire album is amazing. When he does those Insanely high notes it sends chills through my entire body. Been repeating it since Friday, and for me that’s rare because I usually get bored of albums after a couple listens.
I absolotely love "Rain", it is the one I can't stop listening. I think the lyrics just hit home somehow. I can't name my favorite, cause this album is my favorite everything haha, but it's definitely a song I'd choose over and over.
I’m really glad I found Sleep Token in 2020 before they released. TPWBYT and TMBTE. So I could enjoy the hype, anticipation, and discovery of each song, cus each song in their entire discography is so different from the next. Hearing Euclid for the first time, and especially how it ends fucken broke me. Like a long lost memory of when I found them and started really listening. I’m so happy how many fans this albums bringing in, they deserve everything. I still remember hearing them for the first time. Prime pandemic, pulling out of a Panera parking lot with an ex, I had my discover weekly playing and we were just chatting. There cover of Hey Ya by Outkast starts playing and we just stopped are conversation and were so moved by it. The whole rest of the car ride we were listening to the first album and all their singles. I became a die hard fan of there’s at that point. Music so powerful it stops every person in the room to have them listen it’s crazy. And yes they are incredible live. Saw them when they toured with Nothing More, definitely see them live if you can.
There are many callbacks to their other previous songs in this album and specifically in euclid, which is showing that it marks the end of the trilogy of their 3 albums. The line "This night belongs to you," in euclid is referencing their first song called This Night Does Not Belong To God on their first album Sundowning and the whole verse beginning with "the whites of your eyes," is the 2nd verse of that song. Also, "This bough has broken through" is a callback to one of their first songs from their first EP titled 'One'. These are just a few of the references/callbacks in this album, and it's really quite fascinating how many there are.
The whole album was great! I'm relatively new to this band and I'm glad I've found him. What an amazing and soothing voice. This album for me imo, is definitely going to be on repeat.
Going to be one hell of an awesome gig. Making a trip over with a band I play drums for, and we put the trip back by a week just so we could go to the Melbourne gig.
THIS!!!! Every song they put out is phenomenal in my opinion, and while I have my few standouts that I go to, that doesn't mean that you can't just throw the entire discography on and vibe the whole time
This album hit so fucking hard for me man, I enjoyed this reaction. Well done. The song "take me back to eden" hits me like a ton of bricks. Letting go of someone you care about deeply yet you know they're toxic for you? Rough.
I actually don't agree, though I can't give a truly accurate score for each song. On Vore, it's actually one of my favorites. I'm not sure why, but the way he sings the "I wanna go where nobody else will ever go" just hits hard for some reason. For me, at least. And, without a doubt, Ascensionism is my favorite on the whole album. Entirely for its ending. That ending makes me fucking FEEL. As always, thank you for this reviewing, you're a ton of fun to watch react to. Consider me subscribed.
I also think the same way., one of the best songs on the album imo. Also the end where u hear Are you in pain like I am thats fkn major goosebumps especialy if you are in mental pain . I cry almost every time i am hearin thhat....
Euclid is easily my favorite off the album. Been a fan of sleep token since 2019. The call backs to Sundowning and TPWBYT and even ONE. It feels like a tribute to the fans, and how you start the trilogy the same way you end it is just 🤌🤌 I cant think of a better way to end it. It almost feels like a send off for the current vessel, and sleep token will come back slightly different then they are now. 1000/10
This album just…it just hits me. I’ve gone through a lot of the same stuff he talks about in his lyrics and it speaks to me on a similar level. I’ve also been on the other end of the spectrum so it speaks to me from the perspective of the significant other he speaks of. Because of this, here’s my ranking of the album: Chokehold (9.1) The Summoning (9.1) Granite (9.3) Aqua Regia (9.6) Vore (7.5) Ascensionism (9.1) Are You Really Okay? (10 - My new personal all-time favorite song) The Apparition (9.1) DYWTYLM (9.3) Rain (9.5) Take Me Back To Eden (9.9) Euclid (9.9) -- TOTAL (9.3) I have reasons for why i chose certain songs to be higher than others. This whole album is just fantastic. Thank you for seeing things the way i did. And most of all, thank you Sleep Token for giving us this masterpiece and showing the world that music is no longer stuck in a rut and genres are meant to be broken.
I really enjoyed your interpretation of the album!! Euclid gave me chills!! Really enjoying this band and the level of artistry they bring to their music. It is phenomenal!! 💜
What I appreciate is that everything is about energy levels and emotion. You’re built up then it backs off and makes the slow, mellow and deeper songs resonate more as you’re so used to overstimulation that the stripped back sound focused you in. DYWTYLM and Are you really okay? Resonated CONSIDERABLY more listening as a whole album and I feel like the more you listen the more taxed you can feel emotionally and those songs only grow on you as you re-listen because of it.
Bro no joke, Aqua Regia has coffee shop sounds in the song in the background, and it happenes right when he said coffee shop, without him realising. Listen to the song carefully when the piano solo happens
Thank you for making this video! As a long time Sleep Token fan I have to admit I was a little unsure about some of the tracks on first listen. I think I was so blown away by the tracks they released early that I wasn't prepared to listen to the album as a whole, my expectations were mismatched. But listening to the album again in it's entirety has given me newfound appreciation for the cohesion and the storytelling behind each song and the album as a whole. Thanks again!
My favourite track on this album, Rain, is not "filler," Alex! 😭 Take it back! 😂 Big love. Enjoyed sitting down and jamming the album with you. I'm for sure certain that the band, or at least Vessel, went/go to church and performed there; there's so much Christian-sound in their songs and his singing style and a drummer reaction channel has also commented on some of the drummer's fills and style being associated with church band drummers too. 🤔
THANK YOU SO MUCH. You have quickly risen to the top of my favorite reactors and Sleep Token has became my favorite band since i heard Will Ramos's cover of Hypnosis a couple years bakc. This reaction wmtook me by suprise and i enjoyed every minute of it. I highly encourage you to react to some more songs (or whole albums) of Sleep Token. They dont have a bad song IMO and i will be here for it!
The whole album is filled with references to their older work. The final melody of Euclid is the melody of the opening song on their first record. That song is called The Night Does Not belong to God. The lyrics during that bit say "the night belongs to you". The melody before the breakdown in Take me Back is a slowed down version of the melody from the Offering. Lyrically there are references to all their others songs and the biggest Easter Eggs are the lyrical references to Vessel's past project. If you know you know. Also the "band" is two people. The drummer and Vessel. Vessel does everything but drums on the records.
Of all music review videos, this is my favorite. The exploration of each song, the appreciation for all the genres, the analysis of the lyrics. This has blown all others out of the water. No over explanations, just a genuine review of an album. Even brought me around to appreciate some of the song on the albums I had previously classified as "skips." And now it's like a Coheed & Cambria album, I can't listen to it out of order anymore.
Can confirm regarding DYWTYLM. I had no idea at first why others didn't seem to resonate much with the track or like it while I immediately grew to love it, esp. on the 2nd and 3rd listen and your explanation here made it very clear to me again why all that might be the case/why I like it more. I can relate to it a ton, sadly. Here's to it getting better, I guess. Someday. Also, tyvm and great job with the whole album reaction, heck yeah :D But there are still some tracks from the older albums you should 100% check out :)
I was not ready for 'Are You Really Okay' I listened to it on my way home the night it came out and I wasn't just crying when that song came on I was full on sobbing I don't know why it hit me so hard but it did
Bringing up the uniqueness of every individual and reminding us to love who we are was freaking amazing. Thank you for that man. Also... You showed me this band when this video dropped and I am also so grateful for that as well. I only made it half way through the video the first time because I needed to just go dive into them myself after loving it so much. But I came back to finish your reaction and thoughts and loved every moment of it. You're fucking amazing bro! Also I almost fully agree with the ratings. The Summoning is number 1 for sure! Vore actually grew on me quite a bit but it's on the bottom, so I still agree with that, but it's still more than a filler song for me. DYWTYLM hits for me a little better than it did for you because I actually really enjoy the slowness and lack of beats in that one compared to the rest of the album. Rain would be at least an 8 for me. The beginning just pulls me in... I think I also relate to "Just a stoic statue, fit for nobody"... and then he talks about rain as the beat comes in and the imagery makes me feel like I'm getting rained on in a beautiful way. (Must say your analogy about Marvel movies was spot on for it tho! lol)
I can honestly say i haven't bought a tangible piece of music until this album dropped. I've kinda lost my faith in music until i heard this collective. I love MUSIC.. if it touches me,i don't need to know it's label of genre. ❤ let's not get started on a vocalist that DEMANDS attention. And yes this album was a glimse in his sharing the human condition, and i will forever thank him. Solidarity through music.
I am so freaking floored that you did this. I love this style of reaction format when it comes to music, especially when it comes to sleep token. Would love for you to do the other 2 sleep token albums but i know that is a big project to take on so no pressure.
Also, dude, the moment in Aqua Regia where you were talking about it being coffee shop music, there is literally a sample in the background of busy cafe sounds.. lol
this is truly just something so different yet so familiar, they're pulling from so many genre's we've loved at somepoint or another, rock, metal, jazz, funk...you name it, its there and they've got it working so damn smoothly.. its romantic, its traumatic, its get down and dirty with your love and whoever else...you can lay in the pitch black, headphones on staring at the moon and itll get you feeling. can't wait to see where they go next, this is the album that puts them into the spotlight
Those lines in TMBTE always make me bow my head and just I don't know the words...the impact hits so hard. Especially the past year being so difficult personally, hearing the lines "somethings got its teeth in me and I'm about to bite back in anger"...like nothing has been able to describe the hell that was the last few years and those lines have finally put it in to view and it fucking hurts...
Thank you sooooo much for making this free! I’ve enjoyed your reactions for a long time. This album is straight up a full 10/10 to me. In its entirety it is an absolute masterpiece.
The attention to detail in the whole album is insane... right down to the opening of euclid as he says "give me five whole minutes" with 5 minutes to go in the album.
I found Sleep Token at the end of October and just recently (over the past week or so) started listening to more of this album and wow, it is a masterpiece! I never thought I could like metal, but this band just has a way of mixing so many genres and every aspect of what they do is just so elegantly and masterfully done. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this band and this album. There are still a few songs in the album that I haven't listened to, but words cannot describe what I've felt for the ones I've heard so far
I loved seeing your reaction to Ascencionism, like, dude wait for it, wait for it, there's moreee! xD I also completely agree with your overall analysis. I love that you check out vocals because lyrics are sooo important to me when I listen to music. there's nothing better than a conceptual album like this. I recommend you listen to Sundowning because it's the first album and this one here has a lot of throwbacks to that one! It will enhance the experience of listening to TMBTE! My favourite is currently Euclid, just because it gives this finale vibe, this feeling of having reached the end of a wonderful, exciting and horrifying journey and looking back on it with a smile and a tear in one eye. Favourite track differs from day to day though. Thanks for your videos!
Sometimes it feels like he's talking about it subconscious state. Like DYWTYLM might not be another person but himself asking himself that question. Masterpiece and AOTY by far.
At first i thought the songs are about a really bad d abusive relationship..but im starting to think that it's about vessels depression. He might be talking to himself in these songs
I have heard this album at least 50 times and am still listening all the time....this is my, for me, the second greatest album ive heard since the year 2000. For context I'm 50. Brother I moved 70 miles NW to Richards Texas after my wife passed. We used to be neighbors(I never gave away when you were in Sugarland).....I run my Father's cattle ranch I bought into and life is awesome. I'm retired and doing something I love. Ty for this reaction. It was honest and without pandering.
As someone who is very picky when it comes to music, I can say I have never liked all songs on an album from any band, even my favs, but this one changes that. WORSHIP
I'm also really picky about music and even resistant to listening to new stuff because of that reason. When I heard Sleep Token for the first time, I actually didn't like them at all. But the more I listened to them (cuz my boyfriend plays this album a lot) the more I started resonating with it. And now I binge all their discography constantly. Vessel just has this way of lassoing your soul with his lyrics. Even their worst songs are still absolute bangers.
I was going to wait for the next upload to suggest a full album review. Man knows what the viewers want, wait until you dive deeper into the first 2 albums and how they tie into this one

@@MetalMinion3 fixed it! Thanks 🤘🏻
Thank you 🤘🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻🤘🏻

Think of this (and the previous two albums) as a Broadway show.
Sundowning: Act 1 - we’re introduced to Vessel and Sleep. Sleep is “wooing” vessel to spend eternity in this world he/she has created specifically for Vessel.
TPWBYT: Act 2 - Vessel has accepted to stay with Sleep, and journeys through the various possibilities for his eternity with Sleep
Take me Back To Eden: Act 3 - Vessel sees a “door” for one option that is guarded (The Summoning), and has to convince Sleep to let him see it.
This is a really great take
The more I listen to the title track, the more I'm convinced that the singer has to have read Paradise Lost.
I love that ending, a meta-analysis of creating this art and pushing out this distraction from issues (real or metaphorical) and walking through into self actualization and moving on. That's fucking gold.
@@Remedy462but notice that it ends with the night does not belong to god which implies that the cycle repeats again
Yes, yes, yes. Couldn't agree more. Taken as a Trilogy these albums are a work of genius. Lost for words.

@@vikttor_6495 I was about to comment about that lol
The effect on the digital demons line is called a bit-crusher, which was put on his vocals. SO GOOD! Worship
@@vikttor_6495dude, you’re awesome for noticing that, holy shit
The production of every note on this album is second to none.

So fricken good
I think a lot of metalcore bands get caught up in the odd time signatures and whatnot to display their talent, and they are talented. But I think they miss something in a songs simplicity. That's why I love sleep token and the way they write music. Basic time signatures but you don't get bored. And I say basic generally, they are definitely not a basic band lol
Agreed. I think his best showing was on Tomb though, the drums on that album are unbelievably good

At the beginning of Euclid he says "Just run it back, give me five whole minutes." It is a five minute fourteen second song. Pretty sure it is five minutes from that point.
Rain has to be my favorite track on the album. The chorus just resonates with me so well
Was starting to think nobody else shared our love for rain XD
@@brektu same here. I just wish that “I know” section appeared at least once more on the track. It’s such a cool flow that’s barely utilized, and I often have to rewind on each listen to get my fill of it
I agree, Rain has stuck with me the most since my first listen. It has the most structure out of most of the songs in the latter half of the album. When every other song is just going to and from different types of sounds, Rain felt like I could keep up with it the most and enjoy it on multiple listens. The heavy drops in it just hit for me as well.
@@lmaono1356 100%, along with the main chorus when he starts singing, "and just like the rain..."
i literally dreamt of the melody several years ago
You are spot on. The chaotic mix of genres are representing the chaotic mix of thoughts and emotions a human brain goes through in the process of forging relationships. I believe that this album was Vessel getting over a relationship that caused pain. That pain may have initially started by the other person but ultimately he realized the pain was from himself to himself. The interesting thing is that it concludes with him rising above only to start the familiar refrain from the Sundowning album which makes me think the cycle is starting over. Even he understands that it is much harder fight to maintain that growth as a person.
this is AOTY for me by far. Absolute genius production and so emotional. I dont know how long this album will stay on repeat for me
Rest in pieces my Spotify Wrapped honestly it's gonna be a TMBTE sweep I know it

@dragonballfanscantread2383 Cringe
I actually wondered if DYWTYLM was about him loving himself, good to know!
Thank God. I’ve been waiting for someone I like to do the whole album. You sir, get to go on the big TV. 😮😂
For me, "The Apparition" and "The Rain" are the best songs on this album. As soon as I started listening to them, I immediately fell in love with them.

Saw them live last month as well and it’s just as ethereal live as the almost dreamscape you enter with this album/trilogy.
Vore is soooo good, that and Rain are two of my absolute favorites. Not fillers at all, they're so good and they're incredible live. Saw them at Louder than Life
Honestly think that Euclid is by far the best album closer I have ever heard and Take Me Back To Eden is an absolutely flawless title track.

This album is just the culmination of beauty that Sleep Token has been over the years. Unreal how each song can make you feel something so unique and different. The ending of Euclid makes me bawl like a baby every damn time.
It definitely makes me feel feelings.
Same. I get all choked up at autumn leaves and tears start rolling at the night belongs to you. Just incredible.
There's something about that just hooks you, its as if they are filling a musical void at this point in time
Perfect commentary bro, that's exactly it.
Same here.
Definitely filling a void. A much needed service to humanity right now.
Vessel's vocals cutting straight to the soul doesn't hurt either. His voice is mesmerizing.
This entire album is in fact a movie…a movie for the ears and imagination. Pure magic!
I’m so glad you did a full listen to this album. Especially watching you react to granite, ascensionism and dywtylm. I knew I KNEW you will love granite. That is the one song I knew you had to check out. I love this album definitely an S tier album
Vore definitely does NOT sound like an album filler at all. One of the best songs on the album.

@@asleep.3680 I mean i get why Vore wont hit for everyone, definitely more personal to me as it relates more to my overall taste in music. The shoegazey, black metal like influences in the song really set it apart from the rest on the album imo.

Agree, not for everyone but definetly a 10
DAMN STRAIGHT 9.0 FOR ASCENSIONISM!!
Worship
I like how you said especially, then named all but two. lol
The canopies references was a genius one

The changing of ratings throughout Ascensionism was literally my exact reaction in the car when I heard the album for the first time 😂
This album hits completely different when you are reading the lyrics in its entirety. If you are just listening to the music its great, but reading and understanding the lyrics while listening brings this album to a whole different level. Amazing

Hey Alex….
Lmao I went t Urgent care last Wednesday cuz my left ear was full of a mikeNikes worth of wax. Freaking worth it
For me the reason why ST called this album its title is because of the sheer callbacks.
Now we need a Sundowning album reaction! Sundowning starts with that melody, and TMBTE ends with that melody. Love it
This album and specifically "Are you really okay?" Have been devastating to me. Getting over a break up and this banger of an album dropped, it has been amazing. Its emotionally taxing but I can appreciate it's beauty at the same time.
I listened to it last Friday morning and I'm still obsessed and recovering from how heavy "are you okay" hits
My last break up was 3 years ago but that album instantly put me back into it, but in a good way strangely :D
I just got separated from my wife an we been together for 9 years a been married 5 years
Nothing will beat this album for AOTY.
When he does those
Insanely high notes it sends chills through my entire body.
Been repeating it since Friday, and for me that’s rare because I usually get bored of albums after a couple listens.
Agree bro

I have reasons for why i chose certain songs to be higher than others.
Vore is such a sad song especially when you connect the dots with Are You Really Okay, The Apparition, The Summoning, and Take Me Back To Eden
Was waiting for a reaction to one of the songs, so glad you surprised us with the full album! More album reactions please please please !!
Been hanging for your reaction to this masterpiece of an album!
I couldn’t agree more. Present either of the tracks in isolation and I’d be like “meh”. But in context of the album, 😱😓
its not its so good
Rain is one of my favorites!
You're right, the Rain song is great too! Catchy, it goes slowly at first and then it takes off. awesome! Great song
Rain is one of my favorite songs on the album It is definitely not filler
Do you mean Vessel and the drummer are the only ones to write the music? Because the guitarist and bassist DO exist...
@@joey_heroicyes that’s what he means. Bassist and drummer are only live members
@@joey_heroic Vessel and II are the only ones to write the music
Ya ya ya ya we know Euclid has a part of that song in it i need to hear about it 50 more times.
Fairly certain III is now part of the “official band” now. They at least have their own social media.
A friend of mine linked me to Take Me Back to Eden and I told him that it sounded like Coheed & Cambria, but more cerebral.
Hefner this whole album is heartbreak in music form. So emotional and fitting for my current situation. The pain is real. 😔
The Apparition makes me feel so much emotion, I can't get over it 😭 Great reaction man !
I was not ready for 'Are You Really Okay' I listened to it on my way home the night it came out and I wasn't just crying when that song came on I was full on sobbing I don't know why it hit me so hard but it did
Same thing happened to me. You’re not alone.
My favorite song either has to be ascensionism or take me back to eden they’re just so powerful!
The chorus of TMBTE has me in a chokehold (pun intended) and Euclid makes me weep uncontrollably at "The night belongs to you"
Bringing up the uniqueness of every individual and reminding us to love who we are was freaking amazing.
57:04 I love that the most impactful part of the entire album was not lost on you. That line and the two lines before it hit straight to the heart.
@@alyssaj6579God, yeah. This comment is exactly it. I love you
Thank you sooooo much for making this free!
Easy album of the year. Perfect from beginning to end. WORSHIP
The second verse of
“the night does not belong to God” to close out the album was genius and makes me cry every time
Thank you for showing ST some love!
I always enjoy when you cover their music.
This album is a beautiful masterpiece
Sometimes it feels like he's talking about it subconscious state. Like DYWTYLM might not be another person but himself asking himself that question. Masterpiece and AOTY by far.
At first i thought the songs are about a really bad d abusive relationship..but im starting to think that it's about vessels depression. He might be talking to himself in these songs
DYWTYLM is Vessel talking to himself in a mirror, and the reflection asking questions in response.
@@bigschmill294 Yess I agree completely!
I was going to wait for the next upload to suggest a full album review. Man knows what the viewers want, wait until you dive deeper into the first 2 albums and how they tie into this one
