Thanks for the video. I've just watched your review of the Camping Moon XD2F and was wondering about performance with a HE pot. So handy, there was a link to this video in the comments. That's a very impressive boil time. Also handy to see the comment below about which lid is compatible if you didn't want to carry both pieces from this set.
I was curious about the dimensions: Could you tell me the inside dimensions? I'm having trouble finding what the heat exchanger height is, e.g. what's left of the height on the inside of the pots. Trying to figure out if the things I want to stack inside of them will fit height wise. Kind regards and thanks for your thorough review!
Ok I don't have precision tools to accurately measure the internal diameter with 100% present accuracy. I used a digital vernier caliper and did the best I could with it. So I'm willing to say 90% accuracy on these measurements. Main pot internal Dimensions. Depth of main pot to the lip 3.9" 99.5mm Internal diameter below the mating lip area 4.3" or 109.2mm Cup internal dimensions. Depth of Cup to the lip 2.29" or 58.1mm Internal diameter below the lip area 4.3" or 109.2mm Internal dimensions with the cup and main pot mated together. Note there is an expanded lip area on the main pot that allows the set to mate and will lose some depth. this measurement is an estimate of internal volume. Depth of set 6.27" or 159.3mm Internal diameter at the lip area 4.3" or 109.2mm Note there will be some slight tapering to the bottom of both the pot and cup. This is due to the manufacturing process used to make metal cups like this. I have no way of measuring this amount of tapering, but it is not visible to the naked eye. I hope this answers your question. Have a great 4th of July!
Wager: I will bet the back-packing/Ultralite set will go crazy for this set when/if it becomes available in titanium. Charles, I am with you man on wanting stainless steel, at least for the containers. Not an issue if the bottom fins were aluminum much like we see with stainless cookware that has clad bottoms to spread the heat evenly. The price is right for what you get.
Yes, What I think would be super cool is to see a titanium set with a clad bottom for better heat transfer. Then you would get the lightweight toughness and quick boiling times.
Carefully! A gas cylinder can easily get stuck in the boiler. Insert the balloon into the boiler upside down. Also, the places where the metal is bent are not treated at all and cling to the transport bag. At least in my copy, everything is exactly like that
I use heavy 1810 encapsulated bottom stainless cookware or cast iron at home. But I love the hell out of this stuff as an outdoor emergency idea. I mean you can immersion heat your food in a bag so it doesn't touch the aluminum
its look a good pot to be use alse with trangia like alcool stove or with fuel tablet. I just ordered it today and i will test it with this kind of fuel
@mariomontreuil7097 Alcohol stove yes totally agree. But I would avoid fuel tablets with this one. The soot that the fuel tablets always leave on cookware could over time build up on the fins. Not sure if this would effect your boil times or not. Let me know how it works out.
I receaved it it work well with my small toaks titanium alcool stove. The toaks stove fit well inside with also with a small msr canister and the msr rocket 2 stove.

@@charlesartificer2158 This helps me out heaps, thanks so much! Just ordered it :)
The Toaks D115 lid is a good fit for the HX pot.
@errantways5917 Thanks for the info.

Never had one get stuck yet. Thanks for the comment and views.

I'm a stainless steel guy as well. But with the cost of titanium coming down I have been flirting with it. But not a huge fan of aluminum.

@@charlesartificer2158 yes may be not with fuel tablet. I will not try also but with trangia i will try

Seasoning i recommand on the pan for this best value pot and pan set
@mariomontreuil7097 Glad you found it useful.
It would probably be even quicker if you had put the lid on, inefficient boiling without the lid.
yes
