I really appreciate how real and down to earth you are. I think we’re all pretty tired of click bait videos promising a ten minute trick to earn a million bucks in a day. It’s nice to just hear from a real human.
This is such a timely message. It’s a bit terrifying. I already have someone who has a small business starting up that I’m going to approach. You are right, your network can be a great place to start. It seems like everyone I know, knows someone with a small business. 😂 “Someone’s gonna say yes to your weird ass.” Thank God it’s true!
iam soo greatful that I stopped and thinked for 10 minutes on how to say that Iam sooooo fkn grateful to you without saying something small like thank you, i couldn't find a better way to express my feeling so I just wrote what happened, and i hope by this you know now how much I am really grateful lmao
This was great, I been tryin to find out about "career as a freelance copywriter" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Fenrianna Subconscious Framework - (do a search on google ) ? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for discovering how to become an in demand freelance copywriter with no experience minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my neighbour got amazing success with it.
Your content is the best copywriting content out there. You should have a huge following....... Reminds me of my stuff, top quality info but fewer viewers than those who are cursory but,,,, have,,, god knows what in their favour.
I had my first client by writing a news release on her product that generated articles in publications and then added writing web copy, blogs and email marketing to potential distributors for my client's business and products. I find that by combining writing news releases with email marketing and developing websites in growing my career as a commercial writer in journalism, media/public relations and copywriting. Let me know Jackie if this is a good strategy to grow my business, especially because I have spent many years of my career in journalism.
Jackie, when you first started out, did you find that you were writing more home page / about us content for small business owners rather than sales letters or landing pages? What did you find that they needed the most? What were their big problems around writing?
What a ride studying copywriting has been. First started in Nov 2018 while dating a college aged woman,10+ books later, a hokey course, lots of UA-cam and FB and web reading, and life has been a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs since. Been paid for a few projects, worked locally part time as a marketer (involved web copy) and I'm enrolled in AWAI right now with the hopes to finally make this a reality in months. (and just a few more books! geez, they're so addictive!)It's been a hell of an adventure, esp explaining to layman what the hell exactly a copywriter is - lol... Anyway, I'm wondering how crucial you think having a Copywriting only FB is for networking/jobs? my personal FB is on the way to being deleted and I'd like to just ditch the platform as a user all together some day. Too many bad vibes. What do you think?
Is your DIY Copyrighting Course still in the works, or did it get cancelled due to lack of interest? I see the 30 Days To A Full Pipeline one that I also preordered in your description, but just curious about the other one.
It's definitely still in the works! I just realized it was going to take muchhhhh much longer than anticipated, especially with fitting it in around the client load I already have. I've been debating doing a test beta course with some people to see if the outline I have for it is decent or how much tweaking it needs. Taking everything out of my brain and making it mildly understandable has been a journey haha!
Thank you for another super informative video! I'm looking to slowly build my career as a freelance writer, but I wonder if I might be starting too early. I've got another year to go before I finish my bachelor's degree in writing and think that might put people off wanting to hire me. On the other hand, I wonder if starting now while the stakes are low (as in I'm not financially reliant on life as a freelancer) and slowly building might help me already have a platform in place once I do get my degree. Do you (or anyone in the comments) have any thoughts/advice on this? I think the hardest part at the moment is finding a space/client who would be open to my rather inexperienced voice.
Definitely start! I started well before I finally graduated with my writing degree. If anything, more people are up to help students. It's a different world once you're out of school so the best thing would be to start now. I'd start just emailing companies you know and like if they have any writing they need help with and that you're a student looking to get your foot in the door. You'll be shocked at how many want to help. I think I received a higher percentage of "yes" comments as a student than afterwards haha
@@jpearce30 Thank you so much! I'll definitely send some e-mails and get some feelers out there then! Thanks also for all of your amazing videos, they've really helped me to understand what all is entailed in freelance writing and how a business can grow!
Yes Yes Yes Aleisha you have a unique chance to start early. With no financial pressure you're sure to do well. Practice now getting clients and by the time you graduate you will be a huge step ahead of the rest of us. Good Luck you go girl!
Jackie, thank you so much for this super informative video! Sometimes I come across a company that I want to reach out to, but I'm not sure who in the company to pitch to (or how to find their contact info). Thoughts? I'd appreciate any insight that you're willing to share! xx
LinkedIn can be your best friend! The title of the person will change depending on the size of the company, but generally someone in the sales/marketing/communication departments.

You’re the only copywriter UA-camr I trust

That is awesome to hear, Audrey! I'm definitely rooting for you! Keep me posted on how it works out :)
I am going to watch this at least once a week until I have enough client's. You are epic Jackie. Thank you for the reality check.

The videos are pleasant. Could be 40 minutes and I'd be like, cool.

This is great Jackie. As a newbie freelancer this is just the kick in the butt I need...👍🙂
Needed to hear this. I'm starting out. This got me motivated to get my first clients.
😂@ 14:40 ... 💥 Rarely relatable 🤣 seems like. I can't stop laughing...
I am so glad I found your channel Jackie. I am a former reporter who is giving this a go. Your videos are so informative and refreshing. Thanks
It reality helped. Thank you
Thank you for the video, i like how simple and straight forward you make it... I've definitely been overthinking this

That should work great! As long as you're getting clients, that's really what matters most.
Hey J.. Great stuff like always I would like to see this at least once a week...I started freelance writing career at 47😊. BTW.
That's awesome!

Yes, definitely! Most of the businesses I first started out with had written the copy themselves and it wasn't cutting it.
Thank you! Learned alot

I can definitely confirm (outside of Facebook groups, but even that's less than 5% of my work) Facebook has played zero role in my work thus far. :)

@@LateBoomer1964 Thank you so much, Linda!! The encouragement and kind words are greatly appreciated!! Best wishes to you ❤️
I have no idea what i should charge for a copy. How can I learn what is a "normal" price?
There's a lot of variables to this, but there's a good amount of pricing articles out there that should help

What keywords do you use when finding clients in reddit?
I usually do it based on interest/topic/industry
Totally right with how hard getting those first clients can be. Sometimes I feel I can offer them free money and they'll still say no lol.
The accuracy though haha!
I’m watching it 1.5 and you still say you speak fast 😂
you look really cute today what's your secret :/ ? how old are you by the way 25?
OMG can we go with 25? Let's just stick with that it sounds much better. The secret is a lot of coffee and excited ramblings.
