ROFL! Thanks for your observation...which I mention in the video at the end, completely admitting I messed up the soul harvest again and again. I could have done this again to get it right but thought sharing the "first try" was more honest...and stand by my decision. If you actually watched it's adequately explained how it's supposed to work, which is perfectly sufficient for a video like this.
As I explained in the video, I got flustered knowing I was recording and just really screwed it up over and over. I did it right near the end, but yeah--you're right. I do say in the end of the video how it SHOULD go if you aren't recording for other people to watch ;-)
I don't think this is the only viable build. I'm using a darts build with spiders in Inferno Act II and it's doing an okay job. Others are using bouncing spider bombs. I've seen someone doing act four with locust swarm and haunt--clearly lots of different things work it just takes the proper gear and dedication to figuring it out.
I think you're neglecting to remember that (a) this game is a long experience and (b) PvP is coming one day. Skills which might seem useless could be incredible in a PvP environment. And pretty much any skill is usable at some point in the game for some reason--and hell, sure the toads might be useless, but they are hilarious and fun to mess around with!
Hey there, have you considered "D3 Max Out Turbo" (google it)? There you can watch a useful free video showing the best way to speed run Diablo 3. This helped Pete to speed level through Diablo 3 and then max out his character super fast. It might help you too.

Half those skills u named are completely viable u just lack the "skill" to use them. U must be on nightmare still because toads and mass confusion rape hard. Look up the rain man spec, and mass confusion allows u to stun lock alot of mobs, rejoin urself before u call something useless

Agreed man. I'm using mass confusion AND toads now in Act II and they own.

Try basing your dmg on zombiebears and splinters, use haunt to regain mana, and egen Soul harvest... 10 sec butcher inferno np
I hope everyone realizes he is literally not even using soul harvest....
he is using it, just not on the mobs wich gives the buff =)
