    To prevent overheating on the ground, I use the switchable power pin on many matek FC to power air unit.

      I actually really want a smaller PWM driven power switch unit. The one i found are as large as a small ESC. It could be much smaller.

      What a great idea I've often wondered why ther is no switch

    I thought they were a good idea as I was having long waits for the GPS to get satelites and the Air units and VTx's were getting hot. But the problem I found was I still did not know wether the GPS had sufficient satelites to fly with as you cannot see the Goggle display without powering up the AIr unit (VTX). So I gave that up and bought really good quality GPS units and they get the satelites very fast. Problem solved. By the way I do have Vifly beepers on every quad as I too nearly lost one of them prior to buying these units. Vifly Beeper, very highly recommended product, would not fly any distance without them.

    Yep, seems to be a good alternative if the GPS lock takes to long ... I'm lucky though, both my GPS equipped quads get a cold start lock pretty fast.
    The 4", already with a separately powered, charging through the flight battery beeper, needs around 2-3min for a cold start, consuming approx. 10mAh. This delay is kind of good sometimes as I get the possibility to opt out from the failsafe GPS Rescue by arming before GPS lock if I know that a ascend isn't desirable if I fly in & out from locations with something overhead.
    The 5" is bloody fast, cold starts in 30sec-1min & doesn't need any time at all between flight battery change. And to avoid soldering I put on a self powered & usb chargeable ViFly Beacon instead.

    Hi, have you heard any issues of the GPS mate creating an RC link issue? I have a 4s Nazgul Evouque V2 that I recently installed the iflight GPS on. I got tired of waiting for locks, so decided to add this in as well. All wiring seems to be correct, and it will get a lock and allow me to arm the quad, however after a few minutes the RC link completely disconnects. The flight controller doesn't beep as if it is a rc disconnect, it's almost as if the RC isnt bound (and re-binding does nothing). And the only remedy unfortunately is to leave the drone unplugged for somewhere around 30 minutes, but its recurring. Once I removed the GPS mate, and resoldered the GPS back up like it was everything works perfect. Is there something that I'm missing? Thanks in advance

    why not just put a switch on the drone to turn the vtx on once the device is booted and ready to fly?

    Can this work without using it between the fc and gps, so only to powerr up the gps or does the fc needs power to?

    It’s been 2 years since this video, is this product still the best idea, or are there better solutions/methods now?

      Also, with gps, would you have the last known positional coordinates you could then just just to locate your quad (and then the buzzing sound feature not being quite so loud, wouldn’t be as much of a disadvantage)?

    How loud is the beeper? Im asking if it's worth to buy vifly finder separately?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  2 роки тому +1

      It’s not as loud as the beeper but loud enough when your with in 20-30ft.

      @@MadRC thanks. Need to think where and how to install all of them on my Evoque F5 so that I can access them all 😀. Was thinking to put GPS Mate right under GPS at the back. I guess no disturbance would be made if Mate goes directly below the gps (tpu mount would be designed that each device would have its own place, and few layers of tpu between them)?
