This kind of ending makes everything feel void. They should’ve had Jim go back to the beginning of the movie and had him fix mistakes from there, not the beginning of the entire journey. All the mistakes he and his friends made and the things they had to endure is what forged their bond, and by removing that, he’s most likely making things worse. Strickler for example probably won’t be his enemy now because he loves his mom, and Claire and Jim won’t have the same relationship because he’s not the trollhunter. This ending was honestly one of the worst decisions they could’ve made for the end. Unless they fix something in the future, this ending has honestly ruined trollhunters. (Edit): First off, I’d like to say thank you for all the likes on this comment, I wasn’t expecting it. Secondly, I’d like to say thank you for the interesting theories and civilized discussion in the replies, it’s a nice to see people who have opposing views yet aren’t acting like animals towards each other.
That's fair but Jim can basically go back in time endlessly until he's satisfied with the ending. His changes are all in hope of saving ALL his friends which is most likely why he changed things.
@@MinatoNamikaze-ib5gu yeah but that’s what I mean when I say he should’ve just gone back to the beginning of the movie and made a plan to defeat the Arcane Order on the train since he knew of the situation would play out.
@@nathan-tj4gz He only knows that they lost on the train, he didn't actually see the cause. Toby will most likely still mess things up there and lead down a chain of events similar to the ones in the movie. Jim knows the outcome to every situation but he alone doesn't know how to solve them. He could tell his friends the truth but it wouldn't change their thinking since they would only know what he knows. He plans to carry the burden of knowledge in hopes that his friends lack of knowledge will allow them to think and act differently when the time comes.
@@MinatoNamikaze-ib5gu yeah I get that but he can definitely still change certain things that led to the deaths of his friends. Also, him going back in time and making things happen rather than allowing them to would most likely mess stuff up. On top of that, no hate towards Toby’s character at all cuz I love Tobes, but him as the trollhunter is a complete joke. Jim is the trollhunter, his friends are just as badass, but at the end of the day he’s the guy with the amulet, he’s the one that defeats Gunnar 1v1, and he’s the one to pull Excalibur from the stone.
@@nathan-tj4gz All 9 of them were needed to pull Excalibur. Yes, Jim is the hero but without his friends he wouldn't be here. Also he can change the events but then what? His friends weren't there just for the sake of it. He needed all of their help. If one weren't there, things would've gone way worse. Jim can't save them all himself because he isn't there at the exact moment they die. He could make an entirely new plan but at the end of the day, it's 3 titans and 3 teams. Someone will always die under those circumstances.
I enjoyed the troll hunter movie but felt like the ending shattered the first series of the three because if Jim gone back to start over with slight time altercations for a different outcome that could lead for Jim having a happy life with his friends and his mom and his father figure like he could’ve saved graal and unlock the full power of the amulet and awaken Merlin earlier and befriended Aja and krell right after they appeared at school which means eventually they’ve all could’ve been together for the time nari changed her ways and able to protect her better than they did in wizards and the movie
That ending made me want to smack people. Like i really wqs hoping for a satisfying and fulfilling ending after freaking 3 series. But what did they give us! Shit! They ruined the whole masterpiece of a trilogy with that damn ending.
And besides they already did that part where jim went back in time when he was given a second chance to redo things if he liked when he was held up in a cage by aarg's sister (i forgot her name). Back then though he tried to live without the amulet, he felt empty like something was missing form his life and in the end chose to go back and take the amulet since being a troll hunter was part of his identify. So i don't see the point of doing it again in a different way. I mean really don't think jim would be happy and satisfied without the amulet since it would be as if he lost his identify. So i think if they really wanted to do the going back in time thing, it would be better if it was only before "tales of arcadia wizards" story or before doxie gave the genesis seal to the arcane order as part of a diversion. But things started going wrong since then since that plan clearly didn't work out.
yeah, if it had some epilogue, where the good and bad trolls make piece, Morgana and Merling put down their differences, alien parents saved. And show all those loses from the series were saved. Happy ending. But not let us with open ending with potentialy horrible consequences... if this is last episode/film, than it is sad...
Agreed. Whenever time travel is introduced into movies they have to be careful. Unfortunately Jim is not and he most likely made things worst than in the original timeline. The ending to me ruined the whole movie.
The ending was disappointing for me. They should have just honor the sacrifices of the characters who died in the end, not undo them by restarting the timeline. They literally just threw out the all character development spent on the other characters in the entire Arcadia series. Plus there's no Señor Uhl and NotEnrique so it's a little meh.
And no Darci, when Toby died. Not to mention how they saved the entire planet and sacrificed 3 lives. That’s a major win. The risk was way to high for any competent person to time travel. WTF
@@Jackie_mage Yea, but their sacrifices weren’t anything compared to all life on earth. Going back in time is way to big of a risk. And he didn’t even slightly alter the timeline, he abused the crap out of it.
The ending literally made no sense, and it's infuriating. So because he wanted to SAVE Toby's life - He's literally put him in permanent danger by making him the Trollhunter? And who says there won't be even MORE people that die this time around, with Toby in that position? Jim already struggled a ton, and now he's just put that burden on Toby. It's so out of character for him, it really ruins the story. This would only have -kind of?- made sense if they had shown Jim to still have his amulet as well. I honestly don't know how to feel about this ending, it feels like it just can't be the end of such a great saga.
I feel in the same way, from the moment Nari mentioned the Kronisphere (not sure is spelled in that way) I knew this was going to be a tragic scenario, victory at a great cost, then they find the "time stone" and I said "Okey Jim time to fix this" and the he decides to make Tobias "Wingman" Domzalsky THE TROLLHUNTER, I was shocked by on how they decided to end this glorious saga. It was really infuriating
Well I think part of the reason is that since Jim already had the training of the Trollhunter by giving Toby the ability to be it both will gain the skill needed to survive that ending in the future, and in the end less people have to perish since Jim is very much going to speed things up such as the triumbric (I think thats right) stones and Merlins staff and get them early as well as helping Toby end off Gunmar early as well, thats my take on it but I do see your point on it being a little bit out of character for Jim.

I honestly don’t feel like this movie was a good move, especially not the ending. Everything felt a little shoddy, from the character development to the rushed plot lines. It movie laid down so much to rest and that’s the beauty of a good movie. You don’t just take away all of the loss, the mistakes, the faults that make a show and it’s characters unique. The ending was an example of that! If he had to go back, at least he should’ve gone back to the beginning of the movie. The entire thing just feels like a soggy bandaid of a sandy knee. Things are all just glossed over. The things that makes Trollhunters, well, *Trollhunters* is just smothered into the ground. It was an alright movie, but it just feels so unsatisfying. Like a particularly bad fanfic trope.

definitely would have been better off with doing it as a last season kind-of-thing. taking more time to build up those smaller plot lines in the movie and develop the character interactions more such as Walter/Barbara and even what Douxie and Nari were doing while on the run.
@@ToxicSunrise132 for me, i was happy with the steve babies thingy because even if it may not seem like it, steve is the type of person who would be stoked af to have akiridion human hybrid babies. Steve and Aja may be teens, but they arent any ordinary teens, besides it would've been a great opportunity for future mini tales of arcadia shorts. I was so happy until the ending came because now everyone and everything seems empty and meaningless, even if they did have a better outcome in the future.
Jim was literally depressed on how if he didn't have the amulet he was a nobody, meanwhile he goes back in time just to give toby the amulet instead, i am disappointed in this movie.
there is a huge theory which makes sense where Jim still has his titan amulet , this wouldn’t be shown on screen and that he is there to speed everything up. Don’t lose hope just yet I still don’t like the end but it’s still there sadly
It's supposed to conclude the arc that Jim's been having for a while, which is coming to terms with his identity without relying on the amulet, but they never let him be effective in a fight during the movie without the armor, so it doesn't REALLY feel like Jim is all that special without the amulet's powers. And then giving the amulet to Toby just makes no strategic sense
The movie was pretty good but the ending honestly ruined it for me. It kinda made the entire series pointless, would've preferred them to not even use the time stone. It also would've made Jim feel much more mature if he decided to not go back in time and accept what's happened.
That ending was idiotic. Jim was chosen by the amulet it wasn't "any hooman" it was "Jim Lake Jr." wtf is this shit I will pretend the movie doesnt exist. Also I don't think Toby being the trollhunter will make things better bc how(?) and with all that Jim went through I think it's selfish to throw that on someone else and stay on the sidelines. It's like Harry going back in time and setting up Neville to be the chosen one because Dobby died. Like c'mon
The amulet perhaps over time found Toby worthy of its power? Time shouldn't effect the amulet so in theory it probably knows who Toby is considering he's been there since the beginning. I know this is a stretch but right now I'm choosing to believe this is why it accepts him as the Trollhunter. Also the goal isn't to make things better. Jim just wants to gurantee his friends survive and right now theres only 3 characters of importance to him since he "saved" Toby.
I'm very disappointed in the end especially the fact that Jim is no longer a troll hunter it's like everything he did was thrown in the trash and iI hope there will be a season 2 of Wizards

Guillermo del Toro says Jim “knows I am the Trollhunter, with or without the amulet” and that if the amulet is meant to return to him, it will. This was said in a Q&A in LA. .....ok? This movie doesn't make sense.
It works in comics because there is a variety of stories and what ifs that flourish from that event and writers can use it for telling more good stories, and fans can keep reading about their beloved characters. Now for the great majority of fans following Tales of Arcadia, in everyone's mind (including myself) we where hoping to see how it all ends, no one expected to see a "new" beggining, unless they can confirm there is more content going into development. Unfortunately there have not been confirmation of more content coming
I really enjoyed the movie. My only issues were 1. I didn't like the ending. I wish they would've just kept going in the timeline that they already had or at the very least, show the outcome of the new timeline. 2. I kind of wish they showcased steve and eli a little more in their new forms, steve being the "knight of arcadia/camelot" or the heir and eli being the "akiridian ambassador of earth". I feel like they were characters who evolved throughout the entire saga and they were kind of unfairly sidelined in the movie. Other than those 2 things, I think the movie was a perfect ending to a great saga.
The ending kinda ruined this film for me I really hope they can redo the ending (I know they won't as it would probably be a lot of money for a couple minutes of animation) but I hate reset endings they make the whole show(s) feel pointless. This was a problem I had with the Adventures of Puss in Boots why does DreamWorks like making their shows end by making the adventures never happening it's cheap, lazy and unsatisfying and makes me not want to watch again. All that character development is now gone along with all the good and bad things that happened. I would just love to see an alternate ending to the film where Jim doesn't reset the timeline and they all honor the sacrifices their friends made to save the world cause either way it's a bittersweet ending but at least with Jim not resetting the timeline everyone gets to go on with their lives. It also takes away all the sacrifices and deaths as everyone alive again. If they wanted to do time travel at least make them go back to the beginning of the film and not the first episode of Trollhunters. Though I suppose it's a better ending than having it be all be a dream which while these endings are similar and are some of the worst copout ending dream endings tend to not have the protagonist wake up before the adventure is over or they lost to the villain and wake up from a nightmare. These are the worst endings and most people hate them so I really don't know why writers to use these endings at least in Endgame while not a perfect finale as it brought time travel into the franchise at least that film didn't use it to reset the entire series or to stop something from happening. Anyway if I could draw a comic I would make my own personal epilogue that ignores the last few minutes the film cause it really makes me uninterested to return to this franchise.

Omg I never agreed to something more than this in my life. All 3 series and the movie make 0 sense after that ending. What a waste of time I hated the ended i would’ve rathered the Titans win than this
It was really good. Until the ending. The ending just cheapened and erased all that suffering, endurance, character development... If he'd gone to the beginning of the *movie,* it might've been alright, but this? This ruined the entire story.
I have a feeling that everything will repeat, Toby resets to the beginning and Jim gets to be the trollhunter again. Jim not knowing he was a troll hunter before, which might be why Toby didn't want to go through the canal to get to school in season 1.
My thought exactly. Like I very strongly feel like it will just repeat over and over again but with a different Trollhunter everytime. Like this time it's Toby but maybe next timme he'll make it so it's Claire, then Claire will give it back to Jim, then Jim will give it to Idk Eli, Eli to Steve, Steve right back to Jim and so on
I like to think it's the "rare" birth. Kind of life how it's "rare" for a human to give birth to 3 or more kids at a time. So, for akaridians giving birth to 1 or 2 kids is "rare".
Steve getting pregnant is the only thing that was entertaining in this movie. But that’s only my opinion 😀 I also didn’t like how the movie felt like it was being rushed. I know they had a time limit, but I think it would have been %100 better if it was just another show or season. Even if it just had one season. I also felt like Jim wasn’t really being himself, especially for letting Toby finding the amulet. I just feel like it could be improved in many ways..
Unfortunately, I think they didn't have much choice. I remember when Trollhunter first started reading how they planned three series of three seasons. Trollhunter got it, 3Below ended with two (and 2nd felt rushed too), and Wizards only got the one (and for me it felt like a highlight reel of a much longer story). I think Rise of the Titans was originally meant to be apart of Wizards and we may be lucky to have gotten what we did.
Honestly it was okay but they could’ve done it better. They could’ve made this a point of Steve wanting to be a better father then his dad and him learning to parent but they used it as comic relief. It wasn’t horrible but it definitely could’ve been better and served more purpose.
@HQ yeah, tbh i loved steve having babies, but i hated how excluded he was from the movie. Just like Jim, he was the main human character in 3Below, so he deserved more attention. Maybe it would've been way better if he had the babies earlier, and danger followed behind him everywhere he went so he had to protect all 7 of his children with Eli. This window of opportunity could let the akiridion hybrids have powers humans and akiridions dont have possibly. It could also show us Steve's true will and intent of protecting and living a supernatural life with his children, maybe unravelling a new protective father-like personality which represents 100% of his bravery and spirit. This would obviously make the movie longer, which is why I wished this was a continuation of Wizards or a whole new show, similar to Marvel's Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Daredevil all united in one new show, Defenders.
I wouldn’t say that it was much “glorious” at its end 😒😑. I know about time travel to an extent that what Jim did pretty much complicated the whole timeline especially for the 3below series esssh 😬
I know. I really don't like time travelling. I watched a lot of movies/series based on this thing. I gotta say that i hate it when the main characters change the past.
@@bianca_ioanaungurianu6302 I honestly thought he was going to travel to an earlier point in time not the beginning, that’s literally destroying everything we know and love about the series. Toby is a good person but I don’t think he can handle some of the things Jim went through like fighting draal or the troll transformation. Merlin’s not going to be happy what Jim 😑
Disappointing Ending. It feels like we wasted the last few years watching a series that never happened. All the character development and progression was thrown out the window. At the beginning when Jim first acquires the amulet, dangerous events were already in motion and he barely succeeded, I'm not sure it is a 'happy ending' to put Toby in that situation. The time stone could have been built upon and let Jim save all those who perished by time travelling or something else.
lemme rewrite the ending for all of us who hate it (so pretty much everyone): Jim, remembering his first attempt to go back to the very beginning of trollhunters, goes back to when they are planning the train scene. they decide to not do it on a moving vehicle that has the ability to become an out of control factor. ALSO knowing how to pull Arthur's sword they grab that so he can actually be useful. they get everyone on board they can (Nomura, strickler, Charle, calling Aja back so she's there sooner. he stops her and Steve from kissing so Steve and Eli can help. Eli gets to show off his new fighting abilities that I think he'd gain hanging out with Aja and Vex) they set the magic cancelling thing up out of sight but also prepare more in case of emergency and put the weakest links (Eli, Krel, and toby) behind the magic canceller and finish the fight where it all began - trollmarket. the movie ends with Barbra and strickler getting married in a twilight ceremony overlooking Arcadia. the final hero speech is Jim's best man speech and is about love, loss and friendship. THE END
The ending is TERRIBLE. Loads of episodes, stories and more have just been yeeted out of the window. But there could be a trollhunters multiverse where jim, clair and toby, maybe even draal can fight one big enemy. Maybe even Morgana if she leaves the shadow realm!
I really liked the movie but I didn’t know Toby would become the trollhunter, I thought Jim was just going back to the start of the movie, so I didn’t really like the ending. Other then the ending I liked pretty much everything else
I swear tho- i think theres going to be a new season probably, but i hope jim comes back to be the troll hunter no hate on toby but i just liked the story of jim more
I cried when Nari died because I loved her's and Douxie's relationship :( and I do feel that the ending undermined all the development of the tv shows. If they were to still do the time traveling ending, then they should have shown the results of the changed timeline rather than the beginning of a new one. Like immediately after Jim time traveling back they fast forward to the present day, having defeated the Titans without the casualties, and shown Strickler and Barbara's marriage, Nari and Douxie together, Steve and Aja with their children, and all the other loose ends left. These are just my thoughts
That was incredible. The pregnancy was funny, Jim’s growth, and the next story of Toby being the Trollhunters is just wow. All I am hoping for is Jim and Claire to be together now 😊. Thank you for this show
I’m not mad at the ending although I don’t like the idea of Toby being troll Hunter. I mean nari did say that’s what he needed to do but I think Jim should’ve went back before the battle and before like everybody died (Namora,Nari,Strickler,Toby) and told them how to win and save everybody. And also I WANTED TO SEE A FRICKEN WEDDING
Honestly I love the ending since at the end of the day Jim remembers everything from the Tales of Arcadia series. Restarting time and giving weight to change where an even more unlikely hero gets a chance, and that hero being Toby honestly makes it more humbling. Pretty sure Jim weighed much of what was lost down from the start and considered the beginning the best place to restart. So he decided he’d give his greatest loss at the time his very best chance. Along with making hopeful futures available as well. He learned he’d rather a redo be given to someone who he considers more than worthy in all aspects and would definitely make the better choices the first time around while also learning how to believe in himself more. Besides to go back in time and just redo mistakes he originally made as the Trollhunter with knowledge he already has wouldn’t make for growth. He gave his best friend his best chance while hoping better for those he loves and a chance for a different path then hero. Besides he knows he wouldn’t be left out of the fight since he didn’t leave Toby out of it even if only the side man.
@@redhood1278 I don’t think there’s gonna be anymore and i dont know how i feel of toby being the trollhunter i wish it was Jim and toby never died at the end
I just watched the movie, and I don’t really like it. All these years, the animators have been bothering us about how the amulet doesn't make mistakes, and how Jim is the perfect one. We even had a special episode in which they showed us this. And now… all these 5 years are gone. It's like nothing happened. That's not necessarily a problem. But it could go on without Toby being the next hunter. And the thing, "Hey, do you know that we saved the world, and that we were lovers for a few years? Let's take this from the beginning, even if you don't remember ^^. ” pisses me off. It's like cheating on the person who loved you the most. Edit: The message of this series gave me courage and hope, but it seems that they were able to destroy this in less than a second, as if everything was a lie. Maybe I’m to childish for this series, but I was a true fan since I was little… And the worst thing is that this was said to be the last movie. I remember everything the characters went through. All the promises they made no longer exist. It's like betraying your old friends, and lying to your new ones. I know I'm dramatizing this, but I've watched the first series at least 4 times, and I still can't believe it. I remember crying at the end of season 3 of Trollhunters, when I thought Jim was leaving, and he would never come back. All this trauma for nothing.
@@nikki8758 Not really. All I did was write down everything I felt for this series. It's a kind of diary, and believe me, you'll feel a lot better. Now that I'm a teenager, I can express myself much easier, and it's not so hard to find my words. I felt the need to write this when I saw children who could not express themselves in the other comments. ps: eng is not my first language
The fact that they went all the way back to the start and just left all the the quests. Now they have to find the triumberick stones, defeat Angorot, and Gunmar. Also I don’t think Jim and Claire will get as close as they were before. But at least Jim knows what to do and how to help Toby
Ending is disappointing to be honest. Relationships will change, especially romantic ones, and things will exist that shouldn't which in turn will disrupt Jim's second chance and will be all for nothing
11/10 effort. A grand and epic finale with actual stakes and sacrifices, great comedy, and emotional goodbyes. I hope we can return to Arcadia someday...
Remember Merlin remembers that the trollhunters were in Camelot, that means that nothing that happens before will change the destiny of Jim as the trollhunter, the only change is Jim will know what's going to happen and maybe change it. No deaths in this new timeline.
I loved the series, but I don't like the ending. The idea of making Toby a trollhunter is just nonsense. They could just make Jim decided to go back in time and change some small things to avoid those beloved ones die and it would be all done. The Amulet supposed to be a magic thing that won't make wrong decision and why it supposed to choose Toby when it chose Jim since the first place? That's like making the old serie a none existing
Yes I agree the ending just showed how jim emotional state is he can’t move forward and he’s 18 now I know it’s only series Thant not real but i just don’t like the ending what I mean when he’s 18 he should able to know that now
I think the ending was implying that Toby always wanted to be a hero that he was even willing to give his own life to be one. He basically has nothing, just his nana and girlfriend, he lived his whole life giving everything he did have which was love to his friends which made him one of the greatest heros of all. In the new timeline it was his turn to be everything he always wanted to be.
God, even though Jim will still get second chance with Clair, but still what they went through, which makes them closer, it will always be irreplaceable.
@@xiulee27 well then sorry but I've got more 😬 for example: - Claire's brother, Enrique, would still be in the dark lands, as it was Jim who sacrificed himself to go rescue him because he loves her, but Toby wouldn't do that. - Strickler and Nomura would have never stopped working for Gunmar, as it was Jim who convinced them. Not to forget that Jim convinced Nomura when he went to the darklands, something that as I said, Tobias wouldn't do. - Douxie might not become a wizard master, as he became one for training Claire, but she wouldn't became a wizard if Jim wasn't the Trollhunter, so Douxie has no one to train. And of course as you said first, Jim and Claire's relationship wouldn't be the same because what made them so close was all the things they lived together, things that would never happen with Tobias as the Trollhunter. Yeah... The list continues 😐
"only the trollhunter will know" is exactly points at Jim shouldering the WHOLE ordeal again... Alone. That's The Dark Knight vibe there guys. Jim will become the silent protector, as Tobes' wingman, while guiding Tobes to be a better Trollhunter than he was! And if it fails again, Jim will probably willing to be the one in the van shooting that de-magicfy laser thing and die instead of Tobes.
or maybe it turns out complete diffrent like i dont know toby dies in the fight with morgana or so we will never know. and i hope they dont milk it down till its ruined
I detested the ending ... if The Actual Trollhunter did not take the amulet, but his tubby friend, Toby did ... and he will NEVER make a good troll hunter. He is no longer the Troll Hunter now, ever. And, that means a lot of the people HE helped, will not be saved. So it was a stupid end.
Jim gave Toby the role of Trollhunter because if he’s going to save everyone, (Nomura, Strickler, Nari, T o b y, and maybe even Draal and Vendel) he’ll need Toby to take care of Trollhunting duties, ya know?
Remember in Infinity war, when Wanda destroyed the mind stone and then Thanos reversed her actions with the time stone? If the Trollhunters don't want to go along with the lesson about sacrifices, why couldn't they just have done that and brought their friends back to life
@@999earth6 go back to the begin of the movie rediscusses their trap for the arcane order, so that someone else and not toby pulls the lever of stopping the train, the train stops perfectly below the magic nullifier machine and jim kills bellroc and skrael, the happy ending strickler and Dr. Lake getting married
I hate this ending with a passion. Instead of Toby becoming the Trollhunter and probably making things worse, Jim could've easily just went to the beginning of the Titans and ended the Titans from ever awakening.
Im okay with the ending as long as they make a new series and make Jim go to the timeline he was original timeline...but if they don't make a new series the ending will be shit
Steve’s reaction to the “7 kisses = kid” Fact was priceless, made all the better by the eagle.... The reaction to him learning he was the one that was pregnant is even better
I love Toby and felt very sad when he died but I wish Jim stayed the troll hunter and they go through everything again and just fixes the mistakes. Also, the amulet is more like who finds it first
Many are doubtful of Jim Lake's choice to go back and try to save all that they lost in their adventures. In doing so he changed Toby's and his destiny. To be honest I also question his choice to go back and try to save all (because he can't let them go) but I do support his choice to make Toby the Trollhunter. Because when he got back it was different: Toby managed to climb the rope, and said something different instead of "nothing to see here" when they saw Steve shove Eli into the locker. It implies that it's different this time, and also, since he is aiming for a different outcome he needs to take a different course of action. Changing what happened is what he wants and when he went back things are different, so from there he seems to have done the right thing to meet his goals.
Frodo wouldn’t be Frodo without the Ring, Aang wouldn’t be Aang if he decided to give all his powers to Sokka and so on. Jim’s character is the Trollhunter. Toby’s character is the sidekick. That doesn’t make him any less and he knows it. He has the most important destiny and it’s to always be there in case the Young Atlas needs help. This movie is a fanfiction.
If they could reverse back to the very beginning, couldn’t they have reversed back to before Toby got crushed? Jim or the others could’ve figured out a way to get Toby out of the van right after activating the machine. Idk, just thought of it. Besides, I knew Toby would die in the end since he was basically foreshadowing the death when he says “it was me and you in the beginning and it’s gonna be me and you in the end” but I still exploded with tears 😅
@@jacintaschneider4145 He made a thread on twitter where he explained everything that happened after toby took the amulet, to summarize everything went well and no one died. But still the end is still shit, that should have been explained in the movie, not in a tweet that not even 40% of people will see
Honestly I wish they would have gone back in time like Idk just to when the Arcane order appeared or maybe even just to the beginning of the movie NOT to the very beginning of the whole show. Also so much for the whole "chosen one" thing bc in the end it feels like the amulet just chooses whoever gets to it first. Also on another note, although it was quite funny, the whole Steve pregnancy thing doesn't make sense to me for two main reasons : 1st if "seven kisses make baby" shouldn't she have told him earlier? Like when they started dating or at least after the 6th kiss? For someone so responsible, it seems unlikely she wouldn't have let him know. 2nd the "3 to 5" babies thing like how come both Aja and Krel were born as single babies then? Though it would nevertheless be a good reason for Krel to be so disgusted by relationships if on his planet males get pregnant after seven kisses.
Jim's choice to go back in time and try to fix things is grounded in good faith, but in doing so he not only destroys what has happened to him, like his relationships, but he also destroys the relationships formed during this whole journey, which is something that could be argued on if that is his choice to make in the end.
I didn't really like the ending, it's confusing, and kinda annoying, and by ending I mean the time ending, I was so excited for this series to come to an amazing ending but, ugh I mean I didn't like the ending, but I loved the series so much that I was not willing to end it like that, so I Rewatched it till the part where I think it strayed away, and stopped, to think of my own ending
exactly! They said that Jim sees that Toby could be more hero than he is, but hero comes in different ways. Toby is as much a hero he was as Warhammer. Being a Trollhunter is not related
The series put us through all of the shows (3below, trollhunters, wizards, titans) and now there is no hope going to the same timeline. I'm very mad at this series.
I think he would have preferred to lose his upgraded amulet than lose Toby, Strickler, Nari and Nomura. On the bright side, there’s a chance he can save Draal and Vendel in the new timeline!
What I didn’t like about how Toby was to become the new troll hunter is that it throws away the entire like 2 episodes where Jim had to replay the past where he didn’t become the troll hunter in season 2. It also throws away the whole character development of how he recognized and was recognized as worthy and special because of it.
They destroyed the whole storyline through retconning it. The one lesson was "With or without the amulet, I AM THE TROLL HUNTER!" They killed all of that by saying "I'm NOT the troll hunter anymore." The story built up on sacrifices, Draal, Angor, Merlin, was gone. Forget everything that happened in the movie, it doesn't exist. Forget his history, it's all gone. Forget Eli and Steve becoming friends, forget the journey through time, the transformation to a half troll... But in theory. "You were supposed to be older, and taller" -Merlin. This could signify he still ends up the troll hunter, but much later. edit: Toby became "warhammer" by himself, he didn't need to have the armor.
Lol the ending if definitely NOT what people think. The Amulet CANT choose Toby, even if Jim wants it. It was shown when it choose Daya, it went from troll to troll before it settled with her and then wouldn’t leave her alone, before she spoke the incantation or bonded with it and there were other future troll hunters in the room. The Amulet chooses the Correct troll hunter for the time and will proceed with what is meant to be. As for the the episode where it shows Jim what could of happened if he wasn’t chosen, that was just showing him a what if and how bad it would be, not that that could actually happen. The Amulet calling to Toby was mostly likely so it could find its way back to Jim
Trollhunters: The best of the franchise. Night perfect. 3 below: Not as good, but still VERY good. Top quality entertainment. Wizards: Rushed. best way to describe it, is rushed. Not bad, but it feels like it doesn't explore its characters nearly enough tow arrant the short length. Should have had a second season to allow said characters to be fleshed out, ESPECIALLY the first Trollhunter lady. Titans: See 3 below.
I rhougth the movie ending was ending made sense, because of Jim's knowledge, he could prevent many bad things from happening all over again. And all of the character deaths were not meaningless, Strictlers death showed Jim that he was good for his mom, Nari's death has prevented the ice Titan and Nomura's death showed how hard the fight with Titans will be hard, most importantly it shows jim that people have to make sacrifices and Anulet or no is a hero. Just like in the ending he says that do not doubt yoursefl too much , go with your best option and become.
I hope it still Jim continue the Trollhunters... Not Tobias💔 or maybe they just tricked us all and they make the second movie and they fixing the first movie....
Y’all he doesn’t have the amulet anymore, he can’t go back in time and undo mistakes again. When he went back, he woke up in his past body, so no, there is no other amulet he can use. And the ending made absolutely no sense. Toby was with Jim when they discovered it the first time, why didn’t call for him? And making Toby take the burden of the amulet and putting him in endless danger on the front lines, doesn’t really sound like something Jim would do. I’ve always liked this show, but Del Toro really could’ve done better by just making Jim go back, and redo the war so no one dies, since there were only about 3-6 casualties idk how to account for all the cities the titans must’ve walked through, I mean SERIOUSLY they just up and abandoned those people. From China & the Arctic to Arcadia?? Not to mention that cowboy in Arcadia forest, he must’ve had serious internal injuries… not to mention the poor horse Edit: (credit to @Harith he’s here somewhere) Toby would chicken out with the Drall situation, he just doesn’t have the stomach for it. Plus, leadership is not his forte. Claire probably doesn’t become part of the team either, so that really complicates things, Morgana (witch with green hand, eternal night) probably would win. Ily Toby, but he just doesn’t have the guts. *added edit*: by that, I mean he had good character development, but he found the strength and willpower to fight, only because his best friend was beside him, taking the lead. Later in the series, yes, he could be the troll hunter. But at the beginning, he would probably be killed by drall, and/or the valley by the arena NotEnrique would never be found, Jim will never have a relationship with Strickler because he’s one of the reasons he came over from Gunmar’s side (Darklands, glowing green(?), bridge), not to mention 3Below, that just messes up the whole storyline, it’s something else now And like Douxie said, he would’ve given the world up to a much larger scale doom, because he switched places with Tobias, absolutely doing what Merlin told him *NOT* to do Another edit: he had serious character development, but it’s was all because Jim & Claire were there. In this timeline, they’re probably not really affiliated with each other the way they were before
This kind of ending makes everything feel void.
@@Xinisterr I Litteraly Cried For 2 Hours After Seeing that ending
The ending was disappointing for me. They should have just honor the sacrifices of the characters who died in the end, not undo them by restarting the timeline. They literally just threw out the all character development spent on the other characters in the entire Arcadia series. Plus there's no Señor Uhl and NotEnrique so it's a little meh.

Yep. The ending doesn't make sense to me.

I think they should have learned with the Flash series that time traveling to make everything perfect again doesn’t work...

Yeah
I really don't think jim would be happy and satisfied without the amulet since it would be as if he lost his identify.
So i think if they really wanted to do the going back in time thing, it would be better if it was only before "tales of arcadia wizards" story or before douxie gave the genesis seal to the arcane order as part of a diversion. As things started going wrong since then as that plan clearly didn't work out.
Omg I never agreed to something more than this in my life. All 3 series and the movie make 0 sense after that ending. What a waste of time I hated the ended i would’ve rathered the Titans win than this
HOW IS THIS EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL 😭😭
100% agree and all the relationships and character developments and series themselves make no sense now
Well actually no I would’ve not rathered the Titans win but I would’ve rathered Jim and Toby and everyone die but not THAT horrible ending :(
So you’re telling me they chose to waste 5 YEARS of hard work and animation on a stupid ending that honestly made no sense? Yeah, bad move.
the ending is just bad- it ruined everything
uhhh, jim might still have the amule- yeah no they ruined the ending Jim probably lost it when time traveling
It’s not canon in our eyes
It was really good. Until the ending. The ending just cheapened and erased all that suffering, endurance, character development... If he'd gone to the beginning of the *movie,* it might've been alright, but this? This ruined the entire story.
I have a feeling that everything will repeat, Toby resets to the beginning and Jim gets to be the trollhunter again. Jim not knowing he was a troll hunter before, which might be why Toby didn't want to go through the canal to get to school in season 1.
Then it would just be a repeating loop where nothing progresses and that would be even worse.
Omg PLOT TWISTTTTTTTT
It might not always end the same way with who dies and the events that lead up to it. The former trollhunter would prevent it from happening
My thought exactly. Like I very strongly feel like it will just repeat over and over again but with a different Trollhunter everytime. Like this time it's Toby but maybe next timme he'll make it so it's Claire, then Claire will give it back to Jim, then Jim will give it to Idk Eli, Eli to Steve, Steve right back to Jim and so on
But them wouldn't Toby help him? This theory doesn't make much sensr
If 3-7 babies are born from akaridians where is the other/s royal heirs?
Idk maybe they died
Lazy writing 😅
I like to think it's the "rare" birth. Kind of life how it's "rare" for a human to give birth to 3 or more kids at a time. So, for akaridians giving birth to 1 or 2 kids is "rare".
There was a lot of conflict so maybe they died
It was just an average 3-5 not always. The other things about it like how the 7th kiss makes them is more strange.
To prove his love for his bestfriend, who died saving him. As a gift he made him troll hunter which puts his life in danger 24/7. Good job bro!
You too!!!?? Lol thought I was the only one that felt it was rushed. Idk, going through everything that happened, it felt rushed.
This movie was basically a mix of Infinite War combined with Godzilla: King of Monsters COMBINED with the ending of The Adventures of Puss in Boots
Pacific Rim too!
Yup
@@genquin yeah i completly agree with You , like the entire idea of the " troll hunter " just changes
We’ve all fell in love due to Jim’s mistakes and progress
Resetting all was the worst thing they’ve done
Disappointing Ending. It feels like we wasted the last few years watching a series that never happened. All the character development and progression was thrown out the window.
At the beginning when Jim first acquires the amulet, dangerous events were already in motion and he barely succeeded, I'm not sure it is a 'happy ending' to put Toby in that situation.
The time stone could have been built upon and let Jim save all those who perished by time travelling or something else.
lemme rewrite the ending for all of us who hate it (so pretty much everyone):
Jim, remembering his first attempt to go back to the very beginning of trollhunters, goes back to when they are planning the train scene. they decide to not do it on a moving vehicle that has the ability to become an out of control factor. THE END
thank you i take this ending as canon
Actually so much better
Thank you Sm can you please take this ending to dream works and give them some tips lmao 😭😭
this is a much more satisfying ending
The most underrated Netflix franchise
Most definitely
@smhCloudy they should have made Wizards the final part
@smhCloudy i agree all good until the point he go back is very much good but that maybe the other timeline

@@DarkPhoenix-ul6mt I know right???
I really feel like they were rushing the ending
Cause they could've atleast given is the outcome of the new timeline
I cried when Nari died because I loved her's and Douxie's relationship :( and I do feel that the ending undermined all the development of the tv shows. If they were to still do the time traveling ending, then they should have shown the results of the changed timeline rather than the beginning of a new one. Like immediately after Jim time traveling back they fast forward to the present day, having defeated the Titans without the casualties, and shown Strickler and Barbara's marriage, Nari and Douxie together, Steve and Aja with their children, and all the other loose ends left. These are just my thoughts
Not gonna lie, I follow this with my kids and I was left extremely disappointed in the ending
What did your kids think of it?

I wished they made it so Tobey faked his death like how Jim did at the end of Trollhunters

They have to make more. I guess they have to make money somehow. So the series must go on. Simple business.

Maybe I’m to childish for this series, but I was a true fan since I was little…
And the worst thing is that this was said to be the last movie.
Jesus Christ that's mean

I felt the need to write this when I saw children who could not express themselves in the other comments. ps: eng is not my first language

Exactly my thoughts...
Also this means that Claire will never be a wizard
@@Conysims I never thought of that, that is just making it worse
@@xiulee27 well then sorry but I've got more 😬 for example:
- Claire's brother, Enrique, would still be in the dark lands, as it was Jim who sacrificed himself to go rescue him because he loves her, but Toby wouldn't do that.

I'm glad that almost everyone is disappointed with the ending because I do too
Lol the ending if definitely NOT what people think.
Maybe tobes sacrifice made him suitable for becoming a troll hunter and so the amulet chose him
I never thought of that 😶. That makes sense because the amulet called his name and not Jim's
Yeah but the amulet wouldnt of known, coz time travel
@@tibbyzee6867 the time stone loop everything
@@rishwinray9396 yeah that
Trollhunters: The best of the franchise.
He went back so to give away his responsibilities. Like a father abandoned his children. Its the worse ending.
Im kinda sad because since Toby is the new trollhunter that means
Trollhunters will be over, hope to see a new season in tales of arcadia
I heard this movie was the end for the franchise but nothing is guranteed with such a successful series.
steve's pregnancy was and still is the weirdest thing i've ever seen in this series
I feel like they should make troll hunters 2 and we see Toby's adventure as the trollhunter
I hate the end of the new one :/
@@crazybug8743 same
Aahh HELL YEAH
@@nikki8758 did trollhunter end
I hope it still Jim continue the Trollhunters... Not Tobias💔 or maybe they just tricked us all and they make the second movie and they fixing the first movie....
This was great watching the whole series with my daughter
Y’all he doesn’t have the amulet anymore, he can’t go back in time and undo mistakes again. When he went back, he woke up in his past body, so no, there is no other amulet he can use.
And the ending made absolutely no sense. Toby was with Jim when they discovered it the first time, why didn’t call for him? And making Toby take the burden of the amulet and putting him in endless danger on the front lines, doesn’t really sound like something Jim would do.
I’ve always liked this show, but Del Toro really could’ve done better by just making Jim go back, and redo the war so no one dies, since there were only about 3-6 casualties
idk how to account for all the cities the titans must’ve walked through, I mean SERIOUSLY they just up and abandoned those people. From China & the Arctic to Arcadia?? Not to mention that cowboy in Arcadia forest, he must’ve had serious internal injuries… not to mention the poor horse
Edit: (credit to @Harith he’s here somewhere) Toby would chicken out with the Drall situation, he just doesn’t have the stomach for it. But at the beginning, he would probably be killed by drall, and/or the valley by the arena
NotEnrique would never be found, Jim will never have a relationship with Strickler because he’s one of the reasons he came over from Gunmar’s side (Darklands, glowing green(?), bridge), not to mention 3Below, that just messes up the whole storyline, it’s something else now
And like Douxie said, he would’ve given the world up to a much larger scale doom, because he switched places with Tobias, absolutely doing what Merlin told him *NOT* to do
Another edit: he had serious character development, but it’s was all because Jim & Claire were there. In this timeline, they’re probably not really affiliated with each other the way they were before
Technically when Jim goes back in time and changed things he left his original timeline he left everyone else he loved sad if you think about it.
I think that the original timeline just was erased 👀. Just exist in the Jims memory. That is the time traveling thing they explore here. I think.
