To anyone reading this; you are capable enough, you are smart enough, you have enough education, you have enough patience, you have enough money, you have enough supplies, you have enough space. YOU are enough. You are everything your child needs. You CAN do this.
I’ve been homeschooling my daughter for two years now, and I question myself because I’m a immigrant and can at times mispronounce words in English. She’s doing fine though…
@@faithittillyoumakeit4050 and how amazing, you can now teach your child 2 languages! Being fluent in 2 languages is incredibly valuable! And you can make up for any English lacking skills with a good curriculum, like ‘the good and the beautiful’ (I haven’t used it yet, I’m still researching)
I was homeschooled. My parents installed very strong Christian values in me, I was not taught the woke nonsense they teach in schools and I was not told about issues like sex at an age that was inappropriate to do so. Despite the fact I didn't go to school, I still made good friends and did "well" education wise . I'm now 20 years old and am just so grateful for the years I was homeschooled. I was saved from the world , but still able to enjoy my teen years, while growing in my faith at home. When I was old enough to go to college at 16, I had been equipped enough to deal with that environment. There are also so many books and courses out there, my parents did not have to do all the teaching themselves! To any parents reading this, it does work; your child can do well education wise through it, make friends and be spared the awful nonsense taught in schools!
Alice I was both in the public and private school it's depande on the school and how you feel on both section, also how your learning style is and how they felt about both section. For homeschool is the best things, you teach what you like, go to place that you use to teach your kids. Like going to different church to learn how they set up, go to the public library near by, go the parks, to go store to teach them the base things, how to talk to other people. go to the coffee shop to have the kids social skills. Some kids are good in the morning, afternoon, night and overnight to do their work.
@@mjlvnv that true Melissa. I don't have any kids now. But as person we can't hide things from our kids for never, they going to learning and exposed to those things one way or other way. I know you are doing what is best for you and your kids.
@Beastbombshell that’s not true. There are so many tools and curriculums. My mom did a two year nursing degree and then went on to homeschool 7 children. All of us that chose to go to college graduated with highest honors from the honors programs we attended. My mom never even LIKED math let alone studied things like trig. Yet she managed to school micro-biologists, philosophers, mathematicians, and artists of varying genre. It’s possible!

The saddest thing to hear is this: parents who say they don’t think they could spend all day with their children. 💔 Our society has lost the blessing of family. My family has just finished our 11th year of homeschooling, and it is the greatest gift I have ever given myself. The TIME I have had with my children and the time they have had together is something I will cherish my whole life. The sacrifices my family has made in order for us to homeschool have been worth it.
Yep. I can’t stand for my son to be away from me and miss him if he goes with Dad to do something for a few hours. I like my kid! He’s kind of AMAZING!!!!

I absolutely adore my son but i also like having at least a moment to myself. That being said, I'm doing a hybrid private school where i homeschool two days a week and he is in a classroom three days for a few hours.
I was just discussing this verse with my pastor this evening - the reverse is also true, and depending on the Bible translation, this verse means that however you teach your child, they will continue to go in that direction - good or bad. Their foundational years are SO important!

I quit my well paid nursing job to stay home and homeschool my kids. It was the best decision I have ever made! Seven beautiful years homeschooling my babies. They love God, family and Country 🙏🏼🇺🇸❤️

I am a single mom and I have homeschooled all 3 of my boys. It can be done. I had to walk away from the career choice that I went to school for, to be able to homeschool but because I followed God's direction He has provided for me. @@Jacksonvilleplanespotting2 I did this years ago. I personally worked for Costco. This gave me insurance for part-time work. That my higher paying job didn’t. I did a course on budgeting and living under & in my income. I had 2 children and their dad had vanished. Back then often I did not get child support on a regular basis from him.
@KoLa2000 How old is your child? I am so sorry to hear he is struggling😞. I am not sure what your skills are but you could start a side job up and try to build it up so you would eventually work full time at home (sell crafts, makes t-shirts, do online coaching, sell digital products, would have to talk to you to be able to know what your passions are). Depending on age of your son, you could work at night and/or weekends to pick up some extra funds. You will not regret doing what is best for your child. When my fifth grader knew more about preferred pronouns than multiplication math facts, I knew we were done with the public school system. Thank the Lord that He works all things out for His good; covid shutdowns allowed me to see first hand what my children were and were not learning.
I must ask sassyash00, what part of the US do you live in, by state? I hear this nonsense going on so much, but I do wonder, are these crazy ideas being taught in the minority number of schools, or about half the public schools or majority of public schools and what levels, grade school mostly, middle or highschool? My curiosity has been peaked because I want to get married and have children one day.
Been homeschooling for a year now and absolutely love it. The freedom, the time with my kids and the flexibility. And my kids have more friends than ever before. Their friendships are also just solid and so positive.
How did you kids make more friends since being homeschooled? I have been homeschooling for two years now and still don't know how to get that area addressed.
My daughter's a senior in college, but her homeschooling classmates (we were in a Classical Conversations community for middle and high school) remain her close friends. She's dating a great guy she met in the community as well. I'm so grateful for the godly friendships homeschooling brought to our whole family.

I was homeschooled and believe I turned out ok. I definitely appreciate the Biblical foundation I received. I was able to attend a private Christian high school. I have degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice and played soccer through college. Now I’m a stay at home mom and homeschooling my own kids.
@@Godsbelovedkid yes it was. I played soccer and really enjoyed the Christian environment of sports instead of the club environment. There were other homeschoolers that went in high school, so I was not the only one. If you are a true believer in Jesus you can feel like an outsider anywhere even in a “Christian” school. There can be a cultural adjustment. I’m glad I didn’t go to public.
Why bother going to college if you can't use your degree for about 20+ years? By the time your youngest graduates high school, your degree will be archaic. I don't completely disagree with homeschooling and the pros for it. I'm just trying to highlight the cons and bring them into the discussion. It's not all rose petals and some of the thorns are worse for some families than other school options. I will add a caveat that every one of the years I spent in a public school, I wished I could stay home or go back overseas to the christian school I was in during the years we were out of the country. However, how do you address the fact that the mother has to stay home to teach the kids, perhaps the family needs the income, or perhaps the wife/mother feels suffocated and prone to impatience or explosions of anger when she has to be at home with her kids ALL THE TIME. Then still try to figure out outside activity schedules that even allow them to experience sports or interact with any other children/people outside their own family! To top it all off there seems to be a million different curriculum options. How on earth do you know that you've considered them all in prepatory research? How on earth to choose? We aren't usually professional teachers. How do you pick a good one without trying them all? If you try them all then your kids end up doing different curriculums every year and there's a lack of consistency and it probably can end up with them being more poorly educated than in the public school. What about parents/mothers with poor health? Not every Christian family has the resources needed to create a positive homeschooling environment and sending them to a top rated public school that they live in is the best they can do while at the same time teaching and guiding and leading them in the way that they should go when they are at home. For now it's working just fine for our family, and I know they aren't teaching woke or alternative genders in Alabama and I know for sure at my kids elementary school they aren't. The decision of whether or not our kids are in a place where they are learning the right things is nuanced and takes much wisdom. There is not a one-size-fits-all school choice for every Christian family.

I absolutely agree. Eye opening indeed. I learned things about my daughters I didn't even know. Like their learning styles, what they know, what they DON'T know. The best thing is, my relationship with my 17yo has tremendously improved. She seems like a much happier person in general. The whole experience is SOOO MUCH more than just teaching school curriculum. It truly changes your family for the better.
I am an imperfect wife and mother that imperfectly homeschooled my imperfect children. They got the best of my time, energy, and efforts. I strove to present a consistent biblical worldview in all subjects. We read aloud and discussed wonderful books daily. Through their teenage years, they still sought and valued their parents' perspective and input. They were not peer dependent. They were ready for adult responsibilities soon after graduation, including marriage and children. They are now homeschooling their own children. I am so grateful that God gave me the willingness and desire to commit to homeschooling, even through difficulties. Chronic health issues meant that I had to parent and school them more days from the couch than I care to remember. One child's dyslexia made every day a challenge for both of us from kindergarten through to graduation. It was all worth it! I would do it all again if I could. I got to savor time with my beloved children, and God blessed my imperfect execution of all things homeschool! He was so faithful! I encourage all mothers to prayerfully undertake this wonderful educational option that we enjoy in the U.S.; support, resources, and choices abound! In the end, the imperfect was PERFECT!

My daughter just graduated from homeschool and this girl is amazing. She is so gracious and well spoken. She is mature and kind. She is shining Christ's light everywhere!! And I owe it all to the Lord blessing our home schooling of her. She was not influenced by other children, but influenced by her parents as we tried to model Christ.
People screaming about indoctrination, she’s indoctrinated. If you’re never exposed to people who have different opinions then you’re never encouraged to look at why you are Christian and no Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, atheist, agnostic or part of any other belief system. For me my public education was less about learning and more about learning with people who disagree with me. If you want to control education that is literally indoctrination and I’m not saying public schools don’t indoctrinate but at least they aren’t promoting the bias that you have to be Christian or you will burn hell for ever.

So grateful for covid - we found a biblical church, began homeschooling, and completely changed our priorities. I feel blessed every day to be able to spend my time with my kids, to watch them grow, to build our relationships, to disciple them. I had considered it years ago, when my kids were in preschool, but didn't think I could. It took some time to figure it out, but my kids and I truly enjoy learning together. I am also slightly thankful for covid. It gave me the courage to homeschool. Having contracted covid and delt with the after math, it gave me the kick in the pants to lose weight and get healthier. Covid also got me to get back on the right path with God.
When I was challenged about socializing my kids, she was a professional women who felt a classroom was best… so…I asked this lady how old she was.. “36” and I responded “Isn’t it nice that you work in an office where everyone is 36!” She was stunned , and I explained that only in schools are people lumped together by age!
People need to focus less on socialized and more on civilized. Homeschoolers excel in civility which naturally leads to socialization. A focus on socialization, on the other hand, does not necessarily lead to civilized, particularly in today's public schools.
Depends on the school. The smaller international school our kids went to had many inter-age events and classes throughout the day including registration class which was done in house groups for half an hour every day at the beginning of the day and was across the age and class range. They were in houses that did events from years 1-6 inclusive and they knew everyone in the school. Very little bullying occurred in this environment and the older ones definitely mentored the younger.
The "socialization" argument against homeschoolers beomes null and void when lockdowns happened. If someone thinks it's ok to keep their kids isolated for months and months, I can educate my kids at home without harming them.

I love when people talk homeschooling. My husband talked me into it when our oldest was a baby (I had a positive experience in Catholic schools and planned to use those). The thing that pushed me over the edge was an article that discussed a child's point of reference. If they go to a school, their point of reference is peers and teachers. If they homeschool, their point of reference is the family. Sold. It's been a couple of years now, and it's one of my favorite things. I can't imagine sending my kids to any school.
I used to teach in public schools- left to homeschool my 6 kids 25 years ago. This is the best hour on homeschooling I’ve ever seen. Fantastic job Kirk!
To the parent who is "sending a light" into the public school--- How many souls has your child won? Is your child making a change? Or is the school changing your child? I've never seen this "light" that the students are suppose to be. To be a light, your child needs to first be saved, discipled and walking in the light himself.
Nailed it! And, not only should they be saved, but they need the maturity to be that light in such an atmosphere. Most kids are not mature enough in their Christianity yet to evangelize their classroom.
This makes me think of the image of picturing your child standing in a chair. Expecting them to evangelize the school would be the same as that child pulling everyone up into the chair with them. What is more likely to happen? Your child will get pulled off of the chair.

I was one of those parents who thought that my kids were supposed to be the light in such a dark world, but you couldn't have put it any better! one thing is God's divine grace over our children and another very different is being light to the world, first they have to be discipled, saved to understand their purpose of bringing light.
When I first began homeschooling, it started out so awkward!! I would look at my then 7 and 8 year old daughters with tears in my eyes and think, "oh, no I have brought you out of all the public school fun stuff!" Well, it took time, but we adjusted to our new way of life and created our own fun. I tossed out a lot of what the government says our kids need to learn and focused on their character and teaching good work ethic. My husband developed a side business a few years later which ended up being his main job and source of income and "hired" our girls to help. Now as teenagers they have become talented photographers and videographers and because of trade shows, know how to deal with the public as well. You will not regret the adventure of homeschooling! Here's to spending time together as a family and teaching godly values as Deut 6:6-7 tells us to do.
Same! 3 years in and it still takes time to readjust and recenter! Sooo many times I wonder "Can I do this??" And then I hear, "Yes, of course I can---I am the perfect parent for my kiddo!"
I’m struggling with this even with graduating my first child this May. I homeschooled my son for the last 7 years and he’s amazing. My 5 year old regularly says she wants to go to school and I start feeling bad that I’m keeping her from that experience. I have to remind myself that what she wants is the time with friends and she gets opportunities to be around other children. I hope to get to the point where I don’t feel a bit guilty. I just can’t imagine her being with strangers all day while I’m just at home.
We just started homeschooling our preschooler this year with the intent to start her in kindergarten when the pandemic ended. And now I will never put her public school. I've learned that I am able. And God will always walk me thru the season we are in.
Hello! I’m just another mom who pulled my 4 kids out of public school recently and took up homeschooling! There are MANY resources and local homeschooling co-op groups. I didn’t “know what I was doing”. But I’m their mother. I know I love them, I know I want the best for them, I know I will protect them, I’m intelligent and they are my responsibility and my joy. You can do it too.
They say we are anti-education yet its the opposite, we are extremely pro-education hence we homeschool. Also, 99% of the socialization I personally learned/experienced growing up in public school, was bad. Homeschooled children are actually kinder, have better manners, morals etc. God bless you for this episode!
Homeschooling my daughter was absolutely the best choice I ever made. She is 12 now, has plenty of friends and interests, hobbies, and topics of learning that she enjoys a lot. I enjoy teaching and even learning with her so much. I just can't imagine giving my child off to be raised by other people all day. I know a lot of people think they can't homeschool, but there are so many options, I would really encourage you to look into it.
@@Carmen-rz9hl Of course you are the only one who can make that decision, but there are options, even for a situation like this. I don't know what you do for work, but one open could be to work opposite shifts with your husband. You could also join a homeschool co-op, where each parent agrees to do the teaching on a certain subject for one day each week, or every other week, depending on the size of the group. In that case you would still be able to work. If you have a family member who would baby sit while you're at work, you could do school time when you're not at work. You're home school needn't be at the same time, or even days, as public school. Best wishes, regardless of what you decide to do!
As a former substitute teacher in various high schools in IL & FL over 10+ years, I say get your kids out of public schools if you can. Not just bc of the socialism, CRT, SEL, but bc of lack of discipline too. I sat in on plenty of classes taught by permanent teachers and students run the rooms. And cell phones… the cell phones… all day. Only exceptions were advanced placement or honors classes and that was mainly bc of parental examples and expectations.
I definitely missed out on some major proper math instruction in high school because of lack of class discipline. I got by but really should have excelled further =/ Additionally, when I managed to get into AP History one year (because I had heard from other students that the regular teacher was not a favorite), I discovered a whole new, amazing classroom setting. (To this day it's one of my favorite classes to think back on.) No one had ever told me that I could have requested to be on the AP track and in still pretty frustrated about it because I could have grown into that level of academic responsibility if someone had simply told me it was an option!
I use to think I’d never homeschool but after teaching in the public school system for seven years, I am now more confident than ever that homeschooling is the best option out there. If you have the ability to homeschool, just do it! Don’t let your fears hold you back.
I have had four of the professional educators tell me that they do not blame me and it was the best thing for me to do since I have kept my children home after the pandemic. When I spoke to one of these educators about potentially re-enrolling my children in the next year or so she quickly jerked her head and looked me directly in my eyes and said no. This teacher told me to keep my kids out of school let that sink in. She informed me that the schools have lost the focus on what the purpose of education is supposed to be.
The particular homeschooling curriculum chosen can make a tremendous difference. In the case of a niece and nephew of mine, from early grades they learned Latin, from there they were taught to read the classic Greek and Roman philosophers - in Latin. Their curriculum is called, Classical Conversations. From that, they went on to learn biblical apologetics. These kids are about ready to enter college and they are a couple of freaking razors.
I attended Classical Conversations from Foundations all the way through Challenge IV and graduated in 2021. I was also in the process of D1 collegiate swimming when I sustained a career ending injury. Now, I’m a computer science major and an actor with theatrical representation. My Classical Conversations education equipped me with too many educational & lifestyle skills to count, and provided me with an amazing biblical foundation upon which I have built my worldview. I want to homeschool my children when I have them, and give them the same quality of education I received. For anybody considering homeschooling and/or Classical Conversations, I can say with 100% certainty: Do it. It is completely worth it. Your children won’t just be okay, they will flourish. I consider my education to be one of the biggest blessings in my life, and one of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave to me.
I have triplets, a child 15 months younger, and one 2 years younger than that. My triplets went to public school kindergarten and had a wonderful teacher. But they were so far ahead of the other students they were bored. The teacher would give them advanced work to challenge them. Then the school had a speaker come in and give a talk about body safety and strangers. No parents were allowed to hear the content or get any information regarding what the speaker would say. I kept my kids out but did get to witness the speaker at another school. He basically told them all adults are predators and that includes babysitters, grandparents, parents, religious leaders, and neighbors. I have spoken to my kids on these topics to keep them safe without traumatizing them as I feel this talk would have done. After their year finished up I pulled them out of school and began to homeschool. 6 years later and I have zero regrets. My kids are well rounded socially, academically, and emotionally. They are involved in numerous activities with kids their age and have had experiences they never would have sitting in a public or private school. I enjoy the time we get to spend together every day and feel like my husband and I are raising them, not the government. Before I had my children I was a public school teacher and was devastated by the things I saw and heard in the building from students and staff. I had two brothers join my junior accelerated Engliah class who were homeschooled previously. They were 14. They were so far ahead of the public school kids. I had to constantly challenge them. They were more respectful and well behaved. Homeschooling isn't just a family event. Your community is a good teacher partner. Our area is a huge homeschool area and there are always gatherings and events for the kids to do. I highly recommend it if you are able to do so.
I was homeschooled, went to college at 15 through PSEO, graduated Suma cum Laude at 19 with no debt. Now I'm homeschooling my kids, it's wonderful thing
@@slee7991 by doing PSEO, you substitute your public education dollars for the last 2 years of Highschool into your college education so essentially you skip 2 years of highschool and the state pays for college instead. I did that and then I got a generous academic Scholarship (I was a 4.0 student) and some Financial aid for the last 2 years.
Oh my goodness I really needed this episode today. I had already decided on homeschooling a couple of weeks ago but it was cemented today after I went to pick up my children early today because my daughter had an allergy attack and my special needs son who has anxiety was having a full blown meltdown because they wouldn’t let him call home. After I took them home I found out that his meltdown was because he was complaining about an ear ache and the teacher yelled at him and told him to shut up. So glad that we are homeschooling next year I would pull him out right now but this week is the last real week of school and it seems pointless at this time.
I have a special needs child too and pulled him out of public school. You won't regret it!! He loves being home and how he learns is adjusted to fit him only and not a classroom full of kids that are so different from him.
Pandemic homeschoolers here! Before the pandemic I never thought in a million years that I’d homeschool my 6 young kids. Now we’re going on our 3rd year and loving it! I discovered a new love and such a security in in homeschooling! I was a certified teacher before having kids and now I know that this is my calling. My own kids!!

Absolutely. Homeschooling is growing rapidly here in South Africa as well Of course the government is not happy and trying to shut down or at least regulate homeschoolers. They want to have the say on how and what we teach. CRT, gender fluidity, CSE (Comprehensive Sexuality Education) etc etc is also creeping in. Homeschooling is the only way for us.
I was a public school teacher for 25 years. Retired in 2020. Pulled my youngest out of school and started homeschooling! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done! SO much time is WASTED in school and high achieving students get left behind. Everyone should homeschool! There are so many wonderful Christian curriculums to choose from! I love homeschooling so much!!
Here in France home education is in jeopardy since 2020. From our right to Homeschool to an authorization from the Government; in case you child has special needs, plays sports or art in a high level. Please pray for us and my family, actually we should be praying for each other without ceasing. I will be praying for you 🇺🇸 so you don't lose your right to homeschool as we did.
I love homeschooling! I've done it for 12 years now. I didn't start for political reasons, but out of necessity. We decided to keep doing it though. The kids wanted to keep doing it. It's been amazing! Don't think you need money or patience. You don't. You can do this through all the books at the public library, through hands-on, real life experiences, through friends and family. Take them to businesses and talk with the people doing the different jobs. At 8-10 years old, people would always come up to me and tell me they could talk to my kids like they were adults. The socialization argument is completely false. They get MORE opportunities to talk to more people instead of only kids their own age.
My husband and I have been praying for our 1 year old and our baby on the way regarding their educational future. We’ve even leaning towards homeschooling, and y’all made me feel more confident about the decision! Love and appreciate y’all!! ❤️
Michelle, you might consider writing a letter to yourself right now, with your "why" for homeschooling. In a few years when they are ready for school, you might be tired from the toddler years and forget what was motivating you to homeschool in the future. Write it down now :-) God bless you.
We pulled our children form public school when my oldest was in 7th grade. He’s now a senior and my only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner! He has told so many people that being homeschooled was one of the best things that happened to him. He says he’s been free to grow “roots” in his faith and find the purpose God has given him without the “static” of the world interfering. He also was able to start his own business. He’ll be attending college next year with a full athletic scholarship. And I must add… We saw Kirk Cameron at Teach Them Diligently in Tn. and my teenagers are now watching him daily! Thanks for standing up, others will be standing on your shoulders.
At that age, did he want to be home schooled? I want to home school my daughter for the 6th grade, but she is worried about missing out with her peers. She is already being influenced in the public school. She was in private Christian from K-4 and just stared 5th in public.
Allie, thank you for presenting an in depth discussion of home education. My wife and I started home educating in 1988, we have six children (now ages 26-40) that we home schooled K-12. We had a million reasons and goals when we started and it quickly became overwhelming trying to juggle all those things. As we grew in our understanding of what we wanted to accomplish, we really narrowed our goals which led to curriculum choices that supported where we wanted to go. The Scriptures are clear that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It became clear to us over the years that we wanted our children to have the tools to pursue wisdom. So we came up with our three goals: 1. We want our children to know the truth 2. We want our children to be able to discern error 3. We want our children to be able to refute error in a Christ-like manner. This led to a Biblical Worldview - Great books, Biblically based style of education. There are several excellent curriculum options to assist parents in achieving this. Home schooling is difficult, time consuming and thoroughly worth it. While home schooling is not an automatic ticket that we punched so our children we become Christians, it was certainly one of the means that God used to bring all six of our children to a strong robust faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and an ability to navigate in a world that is fallen. So, as an ardent home schooling advocate, I would ask that parents not just consider what their children might avoid by not attending public school, but what God can establish in your home and the lives of your children through raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Much thanks to you and Mr. Cameron for this discussion. I pray it will cause many parents to pray and seriously consider their education options for their gifts from God, their children. I'm a dad in Australia and we have had our kids home schooling now since January this year. It's been a lot of adjustment but we can see the benefits. ✝️🙏
I homeschooled all 3 of my kids in the 1990s. My oldest is 34 and teaching her babies now. Stay strong parents! God will bless you. I would do it all over again.
As a public educator for over 14 years, I can honestly say, the system (not only local but at large) is BROKEN. But when God called us to homeschool our only son starting in kindergarten, I walked away from my life as a public educator. The thought of sending him into public school felt like I was inserting my only child into a machine. It’s so freeing. You realize almost immediately how much of a public school day is fluff and wasted time. He’s going into 5th grade. He’s learned soooo much. And we’ve done it all with a biblical world view. And God did all of this BEFORE Covid. My heart goes out to public educators (because most are just exhausted and not really focused on indoctrination) and parents who feel they have no choice in their child’s education. It might be a leap of faith to take education into your own hands, but it is so worth it!
If a babysitter was acting inappropriately with your children, you would fire them immediately. But with schools, so many parents today are pleading with and bargaining with the schools to NOT abuse their children mentally and psychologically. I’ve been homeschooling for 2 years now and I’m so thankful I don’t have to waste my time worrying and checking up on a school administration that doesn’t care about my concerns. My children and I do scripture memory and devotionals every day and we’re done with all our subjects in 3 hours tops. We even have lunch as a family with my husband. My kids have time afterward to explore leisure activities afterward like gardening or whatever my kids find interesting and we get to spend more time as a family. Nobody loses in my opinion.
Yes! My husband is a public school teacher and I was too, until we had kids. And now I stay at home and homeschool. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. Provides such encouragement during these heavy times.
I pulled my last four teenagers out three years ago and God truly blessed this decision and I absolutely do not regret making this decision. They are literally learning their studies and values and disciplines. My kids really benefits from homeschooling. Two of my four graduated early and are now college and working students. Homeschool is a better way.

I am the product of a homeschool childhood and now mother of 5. We didn’t always homeschool, but began during the pandemic. Y’all made a good point that it can be overwhelming, but it’s worth the effort. I certainly fumbled through my first year as a teacher (honestly still fumble) however, I’ve learned so much in the last 2 years. The values that I get to instill in the minds of my children is priceless. We really get to live out the commands in the Bible to teach our children as we walk, and work and travel. Our church also highly encourages us to homeschool and so I get to train up my children alongside my sisters in Christ who have the same goals as I do to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. This episode was so encouraging to me!
I can honestly say that I’m grateful my oldest child asked me to homeschool him when he was 11. I had 4 kids in elementary school at the time and 2 under 5. It seemed impossible but God has guided me every step of the way. Now, having 8 kids and many with learning disabilities, I LOVE being able to tailor their education in a way that works for them. Homeschool momma here of 4 years. God wouldn't let me rest over this. I fought it and fought it and sent my child to public school for 1 year. And it was miserable. I finally listened to God, he lead me to my kid's curriculum and I have never looked back. It was the best decision I made for my children. My point is if there are parents who don't think they can teach your children, you're wrong, patience with your children will grow, their education will be so much more in-depth, you will sleep much more peaceful at night when you know what your children are learning, and their safe from the political agenda of the world. This world has been going after our children for years and we parents can control this. While we still have our rights and freedom to do so. Go for it and you wont regret it.
I hate when people tell me that I need to socialize my homeschooled kid. He’s not a puppy. I’d rather him learn how to be a good human from the Christian families we have around him that the kids from a public school who are terrible influences in him.
if socialization just means having friends, there are about a million people for them to be friends with through church and co ops!! the kids are so much kinder from what ive experienced, and way less depressed
My response to the socialization question is that is one of reasons that led us to homeschool. Make them defend the benefits of the socialization found in public schools. People may think of bullying. They may think of peer pressure. They may think of bad behavior they bring back to the home.
This was so encouraging. Thank you so much for this. I pulled my oldest two children out of public school summer of 2020 when our school system was trying to take control of our children in our own home. They were entering 2nd grade and 4th grade at the time. We had a baby in 2020 and another in 2021 and I have continued to homeschool my oldest two. It has been wonderful and hard at the same time and I have to admit that I am weary, mainly from my two babes, and I have seriously been considering and praying about sending my older two back to public school this fall. I began praying in January about it and have had no real peace either way. I needed this encouragement to keep on keeping on homeschooling. It is hard work but absolutely the best work that I could be doing.
Don't give up! I started homeschooling in Oct 2021. I have a 4th grader boy, and 9th grader girl. I also have a 10th grader in public school. I feel your emotions, frustrations and confusions. I live in a Democratic city of San Antonio Texas ( but a Red state indeed 😁) the public schools in my community are very one sided and got to experience it all during covid school shut down while they switched to Zoom classes I got to hear all the teachers personalities. That was enough to pull them out, not only that the teachers now these days complain about the children for any little thing or behavior in elementary. My oldest stayed in public High school because he loves JROTC program, he's ranked 3rd in his grade and is involved in UIL clubs he knows how public school can be but only has two more years to finish. My two kids love homeschooling wouldn't change it! My in laws oppose of it thinking they don't have a chance at college, I'm thinking they are jealous at times since I get to teach them myself. I am catholic, hispanic, I use Time4Learning program for homeschooling and we love President Trump! Don't give up on homeschooling!!

The years will go by quickly and you will be so glad you stayed with doing what you knew to be the best for your children. As the older ones grow they will be able to work more independently too and even help the younger ones and help around the house. Children need to know responsibility and that they have value. It’s good for them!
I was homeschooled from second grade up, graduated a homeschool student, was on the president's list every single semester in college. One of my professors actually told me that some of her best students have been homeschoolers--that they have better work ethic, generally better grades, etc. We just finished our third year of homeschooling our daughter--she just finished 2nd grade and got amazing results on her standardized test she's required to take once a year in our state. She's learning SO much and socialization is absolutely not a problem for her. She has a best friend whom she sees regularly and she plays with other kids regularly at library programs, homeschool group meetings, and church. And, honestly, they get better socialization skills because they learn socialization more organically, the way God designed it to work--they learn to socialize with people of all ages, not just their peers.
What family? Your spouse? Because that’s the only family member that matters. Everyone else doesn’t get to have an opinion. If they offer one, smile and change the subject. There’s no reason to discuss your personal decisions with “outsiders.”
When I was in school we had a full day of learning. I sent my kids to elementary school and their days were a waste. They spent all day away from me to only complete about an hours worth of schoolwork. I took them out because I knew I could give them more and because I wanted to be with them. Now two out of three are well educated adults that are not burdens to society and I don’t regret a minute of homeschooling.
I was one of those who never thought I'd homeschool my four kids, but that's the one good thing that came out of all this mess. My only regret is that we didn't start it earlier! We all love it, and any time I bring up the possibility of going back to private school, my kids (8, 9, 11, 12yos) all want to stay home. We have more friends than ever, my kids are who they were made to be (no awful peer influence), and they absolutely love learning now. It's so hard, but so good! If I can do it, anyone can! If you're equivocating, just go for it- you'll be daily blessed!
Congratulations! I home schooled 5 children. I started when my oldest was in 3rd grade.... And never looked back! I supplemented high school curriculum with Co-ops (other friends / families) and we had such a rich cultural and educational adventure! There were days of hard work, yes, but I have never regretted bringing my children home to educate them! Btw - one subject I felt very inadequate to teach is math - but there are so many good tutors and/or programs available! (Math U See has video instruction DVD's I highly recommend for high school) - but despite any inadequacies on my part - I prayed and the Lord faithfully met the needs and challenges along the way! My children now have a Math degree (Summa Cum Laude!), Art /Science degree, Dental / orthodontic degree, Esthetician degree and one working to finish a degree program. Life is abt learning! I pray you enjoy discovering the Lord's purpose for each of your beloved children's lives as you all enjoy learning together! (Ephesians 2:10) ❤️ 😍

I was a 7 year public school teacher who stepped away from my dream job because I was shocked at the ways the schools tried educating large amounts of kids at once. It was terribly difficult, admin was more focused on classroom management. They've been stuck on this issue since I started schooling decades ago. Classroom management is not learning! Its an excuse to pack them in!
My mom homeschooled my brother and I all the way through, other than my sophomore and senior year. I begged and begged to go to public school. Looking back almost 10 years later, I wish I would have never gone to public school, and I am very thankful to my parents who made the sacrifices for my mom to stay home and homeschool my brother and I. My husband and I plan on homeschooling our kids and there is no way I would send them to school seeing and hearing what they are teaching! If it was bad 10 years ago… it’s much worse now.
I was a child in the 90’s and early 00’s. My mother decided to homeschool me, not because of fear of ideological influences but because I had autism and difficulty paying attention in a group setting. She saw I learned concepts better in a one to one setting and enjoyed being my teacher, so when my sister and brother came along she decided to just go all the way out. Wokiness aside, every child learns better in different ways. Finding the best method is a journey you have to be willing to take.
Started homeschooling this year. I have kids ages 11, 8, 8 and 5. My kids thought they would miss their friends and family, but now, if you were to ask if they wanted to go back to public school, they would say no. My oldest had a teacher who would essentially take advantage of her students, saying stuff like, whoever gets me coffee is my favorite student! She was ‘joking’ but when student brought her coffee, she still took every cup. Then, class on environmental science would turn into misinformation about economics, as she dispelled Malthusian theory upon the children and made them believe humans were so terrible. In all honesty, we may have been able to withstand public school, as we always made an effort to engage with our kiddos about school. We were also never afraid of COVID. However, policy for remote learning made us realize that homeschool is totally doable for us! I love helping my kids learn in the best way they know. They love having the one on one attention they get from me. Also, I just found out that Senator Ron Paul has a curriculum he put together! All state and federal certified. He designed the curriculum for grades 1-12, and it’s meant to be 98% self taught after grade 3. If anyone is looking for a curriculum for homeschool, it’s pretty cheap, and you should check it out! My public school experience was miserable. I found the buildings and classroom environments to be stifling. I longed to see something beautiful; it was not to be found there. I wanted fresh air; the bathrooms and bus always smelled of smoke. I was teased and bullied from mid-elementary on. Teachers scowled at me and treated me unfairly, starting with my first grade teacher who purposefully tripped me when walking down the aisle to my desk. Gym class was dreaded--dodge ball? Ugh! Guess who was an easy out? Being forced to shower naked with other people? Who dreamed that up? Not people that truly love and care for children. I experienced tremendous boredom. It was difficult to make and keep friends; school social events brought more failure and anxiety. I only escaped the temptation to do harmful things (drink, drugs, premarital sex) because I was a social outcast. School was as a sentence to be served! Now, teasing and bullying can take place 24/7 thanks to social media. The occult and its influence are reaching more of our young people today to their detriment. College and career are emphasized to young girls in school to the exclusion of marriage, motherhood, and homemaking. Liberal policies and perspectives are championed there, immoral practices and lifestyles are taught there, religious practices (yoga, mindfulness), are experienced there... Christian parents, please provide better for your children!
LOL, all the things you listed happened to all of us. You almost wonder if shame and embarrassment were part of the plan. Read Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto. His Underground History of American Education is an eye opener, too.
So True! You just described my life when I went to school in the 70’s and 80’s. This is exactly why I home school my daughter. She has never set foot in a public school. I could never allow her to go through that! I felt like I went into my past when I read your comment. If you are the social outcast it’s ten times worse and I was a social outcast too! Having to shower in front of your peers and teacher! Our teacher told us she had to do a soap check before we could rinse off. And she would stand there and stare at us. She was creepy!
We just finished our first year homeschooling!! We made the decision right before kindergarten. So thankful!! I have many many friends that do it and love what they are doing and how much fruit I see in their kid’s lives. I doubted I could do it but it’s not hard. One on one with your kids is such a gift to them and they learn so well. Voddie Baucham has a teaching called Children of Caesar that I listened to and it rocked my world!! My husband and I grew up going through the public school. That is why we homeschool today! We finally realize how brain washed we were! Going through public school we were taught to think that the democrats were hero's and Republicans were our enemies! Not joking! Any students that claimed to be Republicans were shamed. We didn't realized how brainwashed we were by the system until we moved out of California! Never again! Our children will be taught differently. They will not be victims to the public school system. My husband and I are first generation of immigrants from parents who ran away from the communist war of WWII. We are proud to be Americans and we love our freedom here. We must keep it. We choose to homeschool to preserve and teach it.
Three things I say to all Christian parents of school-age children: 1)Never choose your schooling based on fear, only on faith 2) There is no right choice for every family, so put away arrogance about it. Just be supportive of your brethren and encourage them. Don’t diminish the types of schooling God provides others. 3) Salvation and character development of our children is up to God. He can and will bless humble endeavours to be faithful but will abase those made in pride. Although homeschooling over ten years afforded us wonderful and close relationships and the ability to disciple, our children’s future also needed to be moulded. I couldn’t cope with the load of work for high school subjects, pushing them to do the work, and caring for little ones at the same time. We had to think of our children’s future careers and to prepare them for them. So we, after much broken-hearted prayer, sent them to schools. So far, God has been so faithful to provide in all areas of concern. We still must be on our knees, but we needn’t fear when our Father is taking care. I add one more thought: I have six friends with children who don’t accept themselves as they were born. Three of them were raised in conservative Christian environments and homeschooled. None of them profess now in their twenties and all of them have taken hormones. It is devastating. Beware of putting confidence in the flesh because our enemy of souls knows our children and can attack them wherever they are and God can save them wherever they are. I pray every day for the children of believers everywhere, that they will put us to shame with their godliness, regardless of how they are schooled.
Exactly!! Salvation, glory, and power belong to God. I have been meditating on Psalm 139 and Ephesians 2 when it comes to schooling next year. We homeschooled my kindergartener this year (with my 4 and 1 year old), but I can't shake the desire to go to our public school as ambassadors for Christ this year. I'm asking God to see if there be any hurtful way in me and lead me in the everlasting way...especially because my daughter is not yet a follower of Christ but she has learned Scriptural principles and loves the Bible...my husband and I will be lights and my daighter as God provides. Ephesians 2 tells us that we have been saved by grace through faith. We are not saved by grace through homeschooling or even saved by grace through public schooling. In any school choice, we parents must be DILIGENT to disciple and train our children. Take heart that faith, though, is given to our children by God and not by us, so no child or parent or teacher can boast!
God entrusts vulnerable children to their parents. Parents are to provide them with love, protection, nurture, and instruction, all in obedience to God’s word. Via curriculum, clubs, and assemblies, children in public schools are being taught things that are harmful, untrue, and counter-Christian. These include things such as evolution, yoga, mindfulness, carnal/unbiblical sexual knowledge and practices, tenets and practices of Christ-rejecting world religions, secular humanism, and moral relativism. Children suffer bullying and teasing in the public schools. They are embarrassed there by inappropriate public displays of affection between students. They are offered cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and pornography. These things, and others, are threats to the wellbeing of children. Homeschooling offers the opportunity to eliminate such exposures and to foster their growth and development in all ways under the care of loving parents. A consistent biblical worldview can be taught throughout all subjects. Scripture can be taught and applied throughout the day. Character training can be emphasized. Family relationships can be strengthened. To their benefit, children can observe the example of their godly parents day-in and day-out. There is much scriptural backing for such a model (Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Proverbs 19:27, Proverbs 13:20, Proverbs 22:6, etc.) To act in obedience to these commands and to apply biblical principles is to trust the Lord; it is not to trust the flesh. We parents need to act, sacrificially if necessary, to ensure the welfare of our children during their formative years.
@@smpittsburgh264 I certainly understand from your perspective. Parents should be very grateful if they have church families with whom they may get together regularly and I’ve known people who have tremendous access to sports teams, clubs, and other enjoyable things. I didn’t because our [very conservative] denomination doesn’t homeschool. Our nearest group was an hours away and we couldn’t make it often because of the palaver. This was fun for the little ones but once they hit about ten, it was boring for them. We really only did a history lesson, a paper craft, and the the children played on the playground. None of us were particularly adept at doing “fun” things because we all happen to be introverted book nerds. 😂 Actually, I did find one homeschool group closer to home (30 min). I went once. The children there were positively wild, hitting each other, calling each other swear words, uncorrected ( “free range”/unschooled), and used the Lord’s Name in vain so much I had to take my children and leave. So there’s a variation. My children’s teachers ask if such and such is okay with me, religiously, which I really appreciate. Vaping in the high schools is dealt with heavily, as when caught, the children are automatically expelled. We want our children to understand evolution and why it’s wrong and we handle sex education ourselves. I would say homeschooling or not, we have to be very, very careful with the internet and entertainment, as that’s where the enemy of souls ensnares even the homeschooled children.
I read a great quote once about the whole socialization thing. "forced association is not socialization". My daughter has a ton more friends and more valuable relationships since starting homeschool.

I’ve been homeschooling my son for 2 years and it has been amazing!! I quit my job making 6 figures and couldn’t be more overjoyed to have this opportunity with my kids. They are so happy and surrounded by people who love them and are invested in their overall well being.
Our son is in his 7th year of homeschooling having been pulled out in 3rd grade and our daughter is 9 and has never been to school. Not one regret during this entire time. Best decision ever. If you’re considering it, the only negative I could give you is the people who may not understand why you’re doing it, but so many come around after they see the blessing it truly is 💕
I'm a teacher and in my school district, we have a policy that states that the privacy of kids is so important that if they choose to identify as someone else and another gender, we as teachers must affirm this new identity, but we are NOT to even hint of any change to the parents. So in communication with home, we use the name and gender that is on their birth certificate. I'm waiting for the day I get let go because I refuse to follow this policy. It's outrageous. If you are a parent with a child in public school, look for a nonconforming policy in your district and FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. Your child is YOURS!! Not the department of education's!! I have been working to fight this policy based on our school handbook, but am not getting very far, but parents YOU have the power! Fight these crazy policies like crazy! I am looking deeply into homeschooling my own children bc of the crazy ideologies of the district my kids are in. Thank you guys so much for this video! I've been praying deeply about this.
Keep fighting for YOUR children too! I'm glad that you're on the parents' side of your school district's nonsense policy, and I hope that more educators do that with you. But it's getting less and less likely that educators will stand up to the beurocracy. I do not regret withdrawing my children from the public school system. Our homeschooling years were such a huge blessing to us. I do not regret it at all!
@@natalieziadeh3778 all the teachers have bought into the policy and use the kids preferred names and pronouns. Ask far as I know, I'm the only one who has a conversation with the kids about why I feel it's dishonest. And unless their parents ask me to use the preferred name and pronouns, I'm not in the business of dividing families. As far as homeschooling goes, I have a step daughter in a far worse district than the one in which I work. They have actively hired a DEIJ coordinator who has a website referring to white people in derogatory and berry dehumanizing terms. I wish I could pull her, but with my son and new baby, I'm on the fence, because I'm wondering if they could give a Christian perspective, but maybe I can give them a great homeschool experience where they understand both sides but can defend the biblical worldview that we are teaching them. I just do not want the school district to "adopt" my children...it's child abuse on their part.
@@rileeb848 Good for you in standing up for what is right. If I were in your shoes, I'd want my own kids teachers to do the same... And if you know you're alone in that battle at your school, then you know own children's teachers aren't doing the same. We only have a short time in our children's lives (and even shorter in a step-child's life) to connect and set them straight. When they're being told the opposite for hours a day in a public school, we're setting ourselves up for failure, or at least a more difficult battle for their hearts and minds. I wrestled with the decision years ago and God gave me a little more faith to trust him with this. I stepped into homeschooling around 2015 and it was such a surprising joy and blessing, and it has grown me in ways that I didn't expect. Perhaps you can find some other public school teachers who also homeschool and get some insight into how it's going for their families, and their "why." Keep praying about this and trust wherever it is that God is calling you.

I have been homeschooling my child for 3 months now since last watching this. Shortly after watching this video 7 months ago I felt a heavy conviction to pull my son out of public school. This whole woke culture can kiss my tushy!! My son has grown so spiritually 💙 just in the short time I've been homeschooling him praise Jesus for having the freedom to do this as many country's have no choice or religious freedom! We just wrapped up our 10th year of homeschooling, and I wish I could adequately express what joy I find in spending time with my kids. Is it always easy? No. But it's definitely worth it, even - and especially - the high school years.
We are a homeschool family and our kids have only known Christian homeschool influences for education. It’s amazing how their values are so much opposite of what we see in almost all public school kids
I pulled my 3 elementary aged children out of school in late October 2020 when virtual learning was just a complete and utter failure for us. I didn't know what I was doing, but I figured anything they learned from me was better than the absolute nothing they were learning virtually. My kids are happy and thriving and we now attend a Christian homeschool co-op one day per week where I'm teaching my kids as well as other kids. I have found an amazing community within this homeschooling co-op and my kids and I are so much better for it.
I am a Christian woman, wife, and mother. I am also a teacher at a public school. I have many colleagues who are also Christians. We take care of our students, and I spread the Word to my students with the way I live my life. The county where we live is more conservative than others but it is up to the parents to raise their children. My children are Christians. My husband and I are committed to show them the truth, the only truth every day. The center of our life is Jesus Christ, and always will be. But homeschooling is not for everyone.
My husband is an educator too. We're in the same boat - committed Christian family with a kid in public school. It can be really discouraging to see these videos sometimes-- you end up feeling either demonized or invisible. I was homeschooled, so I'm familiar with that world too. I agree that it's not a good fit for everyone.
When discussing ways to handle stress, my daughter responded with “pray!” The teacher wrote “reflect” and she didn’t understand why she wrote a different word.
I started homeschooling my kids last year and it was not very smooth or perfect. But I will never forget the way their eyes would like up when they realized they understand new things! Can't wait to homeschool for as long as I can!
I went to public school and plan on homeschooling my children. I went through a rebellious phase in my teenage years that caused a lot of stress and strife in my family. My parents always wondered how I got caught up in the wrong crowd and where their little girl went. Peer pressure is so so strong, especially in high school! It was heartbreaking for my family and it took several years to regain my family’s trust and get back to normal. I look forward to homeschooling my kids. Protect the children!
oh for sure, i was the same. i got into shop lifting (got caught and repented immediately), lots of sexual stuff, etc. thankfully God used it all for good, it's how i met my husband who is now a Christian with me, and two awesome kids! but yeah i don't want my kids to go through the stuff i had to go through.

I was sending mines back this fall (seriously thinking about it), then boom! Saw that on UA-cam and said "welp, there goes that. My boys been homeschooled since 2019. I'm officially out of cash and had to go back to work Oct 2021. I will continue homeschooling. My 3 oldest sons has been doing public school virtual learning and it's the worst! I will do actual homeschooling this fall. I need God's strength tho cus OMG. I have a business and it's so slow! I'm literally ready to thrown in the towel. Next month will be a year!
Contact HSLDA before you do anything for advice. You can join as we did for one year and it cost us less than our last year of school supplies in public school. HSLDA will tell you everything you need to know in your state and what to do. Contact them first.
Home Education by Charlotte Mason is a wonderful book! Also, For The Children's Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay. I was pulled out in 8th grade in 2007 to be homeschooled and it was wonderful ! My husband was homeschooled K-12. Now, by God's grace and blessing. We are now homeschooling our own children. We have used my father's world curriculum and now Ambleside Online (not an online school). And some Simply Charlotte Mason curriculum. It's a free curriculum outline. It's so affordable and it's a feast of scripture, hymns, church history, great literature, habits and the arts. ❤️
Yes. We had our kids in private Christian school for the first few years, but almost all of my teaching salary was used to cover it. And we were not super impressed (though the teachers were lovely). We brought them home, found wonderful communities of like minded families, and went for it for the next 12 years. Not only did my kids excel in college (graduating with honors), but they both eventually became Christians as young adults and have chosen Christian spouses. Was it easy? Never. Any regrets? None. We used Classical Conversations and cannot say enough good things about the program. It not only helped us homeschool, but to draw nearer to God.
I'm gonna be homeschooling because i havent heard anything positive about public school. I am a christian and i want my daughhter to be able to read her Bible all the time. When I was in public school, my Bible would get taken away and I almost got expelled over it. In public school, I was used, abused, and almost took my own life. I am never putting my daughter through that. Her life is too precious to throw into a harmful situation like that.
This is my 14th year of homeschooling. To anyone reading this; you are capable enough, you are smart enough, you have enough education, you have enough patience, you have enough money, you have enough supplies, you have enough space. YOU are enough. You are everything your child needs. You CAN do this.

@@faithittillyoumakeit4050 and how amazing, you can now teach your child 2 languages! Being fluent in 2 languages is incredibly valuable! And you can make up for any English lacking skills with a good curriculum, like ‘the good and the beautiful’ (I haven’t used it yet, I’m still researching)
I was homeschooled. My parents installed very strong Christian values in me, I was not taught the woke nonsense they teach in schools and I was not told about issues like sex at an age that was inappropriate to do so. Despite the fact I didn't go to school, I still made good friends and did "well" education wise . I'm now 20 years old and am just so grateful for the years I was homeschooled. I was saved from the world , but still able to enjoy my teen years, while growing in my faith at home. When I was old enough to go to college at 16, I had been equipped enough to deal with that environment. There are also so many books and courses out there, my parents did not have to do all the teaching themselves! To any parents reading this, it does work; your child can do well education wise through it, make friends and be spared the awful nonsense taught in schools!

Alice I was both in the public and private school it's depande on the school and how you feel on both section, also how your learning style is and how they felt about both section. For homeschool is the best things, you teach what you like, go to place that you use to teach your kids. Like going to different church to learn how they set up, go to the public library near by, go the parks, to go store to teach them the base things, how to talk to other people. go to the coffee shop to have the kids social skills. Some kids are good in the morning, afternoon, night and overnight to do their work.

@Beastbombshell that’s not true. There are so many tools and curriculums. My mom did a two year nursing degree and then went on to homeschool 7 children. All of us that chose to go to college graduated with highest honors from the honors programs we attended. My mom never even LIKED math let alone studied things like trig. Yet she managed to school micro-biologists, philosophers, mathematicians, and artists of varying genre. It’s possible!

Our society has lost the blessing of family. My family has just finished our 11th year of homeschooling, and it is the greatest gift I have ever given myself. The TIME I have had with my children and the time they have had together is something I will cherish my whole life. The sacrifices my family has made in order for us to homeschool have been worth it.

I was just discussing this verse with my pastor this evening - the reverse is also true, and depending on the Bible translation, this verse means that however you teach your child, they will continue to go in that direction - good or bad. Their foundational years are SO important!

I had to walk away from the career choice that I went to school for, to be able to homeschool but because I followed God's direction He has provided for me. I was single and was able to teach my children until they went to college in 2007.
@@Jacksonvilleplanespotting2 I did this years ago. I personally worked for Costco. This gave me insurance for part-time work. That my higher paying job didn’t. I did a course on budgeting and living under & in my income. I had 2 children and their dad had vanished. Back then often I did not get child support on a regular basis from him.
Would love to pick your brain on how to financially survive. Free childcare is not an option for me.
@KoLa2000 How old is your child? I am so sorry to hear he is struggling😞. I am not sure what your skills are but you could start a side job up and try to build it up so you would eventually work full time at home (sell crafts, makes t-shirts, do online coaching, sell digital products, would have to talk to you to be able to know what your passions are). Depending on age of your son, you could work at night and/or weekends to pick up some extra funds. You will not regret doing what is best for your child. Praying you can figure it out, I could help you brainstorm options if you want😊🙏🏻
When my fifth grader knew more about preferred pronouns than multiplication math facts, I knew we were done with the public school system. Thank the Lord that He works all things out for His good; covid shutdowns allowed me to see first hand what my children were and were not learning.

I hear this nonsense going on so much, but I do wonder, are these crazy ideas being taught in the minority number of schools, or about half the public schools or majority of public schools and what levels, grade school mostly, middle or highschool?

My daughter's a senior in college, but her homeschooling classmates (we were in a Classical Conversations community for middle and high school) remain her close friends. She's dating a great guy she met in the community as well. I'm so grateful for the godly friendships homeschooling brought to our whole family.

I was homeschooled and believe I turned out ok. I definitely appreciate the Biblical foundation I received. I was able to attend a private Christian high school. I have degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice and played soccer through college. Now I’m a stay at home mom and homeschooling my own kids.

@@Godsbelovedkid yes it was. I played soccer and really enjoyed the Christian environment of sports instead of the club environment. There were other homeschoolers that went in high school, so I was not the only one. If you are a true believer in Jesus you can feel like an outsider anywhere even in a “Christian” school. There can be a cultural adjustment. I’m glad I didn’t go to public.
Why bother going to college if you can't use your degree for about 20+ years? By the time your youngest graduates high school, your degree will be archaic. I don't completely disagree with homeschooling and the pros for it. I'm just trying to highlight the cons and bring them into the discussion. It's not all rose petals and some of the thorns are worse for some families than other school options. I will add a caveat that every one of the years I spent in a public school, I wished I could stay home or go back overseas to the christian school I was in during the years we were out of the country. However, how do you address the fact that the mother has to stay home to teach the kids, perhaps the family needs the income, or perhaps the wife/mother feels suffocated and prone to impatience or explosions of anger when she has to be at home with her kids ALL THE TIME. Then still try to figure out outside activity schedules that even allow them to experience sports or interact with any other children/people outside their own family! To top it all off there seems to be a million different curriculum options. How on earth do you know that you've considered them all in prepatory research? How on earth to choose? We aren't usually professional teachers. How do you pick a good one without trying them all? If you try them all then your kids end up doing different curriculums every year and there's a lack of consistency and it probably can end up with them being more poorly educated than in the public school. What about parents/mothers with poor health? Not every Christian family has the resources needed to create a positive homeschooling environment and sending them to a top rated public school that they live in is the best they can do while at the same time teaching and guiding and leading them in the way that they should go when they are at home. For now it's working just fine for our family, and I know they aren't teaching woke or alternative genders in Alabama and I know for sure at my kids elementary school they aren't. The decision of whether or not our kids are in a place where they are learning the right things is nuanced and takes much wisdom. There is not a one-size-fits-all school choice for every Christian family.

I absolutely agree. Eye opening indeed. I learned things about my daughters I didn't even know. Like their learning styles, what they know, what they DON'T know. The best thing is, my relationship with my 17yo has tremendously improved. She seems like a much happier person in general. The whole experience is SOOO MUCH more than just teaching school curriculum. It truly changes your family for the better.
I am an imperfect wife and mother that imperfectly homeschooled my imperfect children. They got the best of my time, energy, and efforts. I strove to present a consistent biblical worldview in all subjects. We read aloud and discussed wonderful books daily. Through their teenage years, they still sought and valued their parents' perspective and input. They were not peer dependent. They were ready for adult responsibilities soon after graduation, including marriage and children. They are now homeschooling their own children.
I am so grateful that God gave me the willingness and desire to commit to homeschooling, even through difficulties. Chronic health issues meant that I had to parent and school them more days from the couch than I care to remember. One child's dyslexia made every day a challenge for both of us from kindergarten through to graduation. It was all worth it! I would do it all again if I could. I got to savor time with my beloved children, and God blessed my imperfect execution of all things homeschool! He was so faithful! I encourage all mothers to prayerfully undertake this wonderful educational option that we enjoy in the U.S.; support, resources, and choices abound!
In the end, the imperfect was PERFECT!

My daughter just graduated from homeschool and this girl is amazing. She is so gracious and well spoken. She is mature and kind. She is shining Christ's light everywhere!! And I owe it all to the Lord blessing our home schooling of her. She was not influenced by other children, but influenced by her parents as we tried to model Christ.
She loves the Word of God more than anything. And I've put a love of Bible study in her that surpasses all understanding!!
People screaming about indoctrination, she’s indoctrinated. If you’re never exposed to people who have different opinions then you’re never encouraged to look at why you are Christian and no Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, atheist, agnostic or part of any other belief system. For me my public education was less about learning and more about learning with people who disagree with me. If you want to control education that is literally indoctrination and I’m not saying public schools don’t indoctrinate but at least they aren’t promoting the bias that you have to be Christian or you will burn hell for ever.

So grateful for covid - we found a biblical church, began homeschooling, and completely changed our priorities. I feel blessed every day to be able to spend my time with my kids, to watch them grow, to build our relationships, to disciple them. I had considered it years ago, when my kids were in preschool, but didn't think I could. It took some time to figure it out, but my kids and I truly enjoy learning together. I am also slightly thankful for covid. It gave me the courage to homeschool. Having contracted covid and delt with the after math, it gave me the kick in the pants to lose weight and get healthier. Covid also got me to get back on the right path with God.
When I was challenged about socializing my kids, she was a professional women who felt a classroom was best… so…I asked this lady how old she was.. “36” and I responded “Isn’t it nice that you work in an office where everyone is 36!”
She was stunned , and I explained that only in schools are people lumped together by age!

People need to focus less on socialized and more on civilized. Homeschoolers excel in civility which naturally leads to socialization. A focus on socialization, on the other hand, does not necessarily lead to civilized, particularly in today's public schools.
Depends on the school. The smaller international school our kids went to had many inter-age events and classes throughout the day including registration class which was done in house groups for half an hour every day at the beginning of the day and was across the age and class range. They were in houses that did events from years 1-6 inclusive and they knew everyone in the school. Very little bullying occurred in this environment and the older ones definitely mentored the younger.
The "socialization" argument against homeschoolers beomes null and void when lockdowns happened. If someone thinks it's ok to keep their kids isolated for months and months, I can educate my kids at home without harming them.

My husband talked me into it when our oldest was a baby (I had a positive experience in Catholic schools and planned to use those). The thing that pushed me over the edge was an article that discussed a child's point of reference. If they go to a school, their point of reference is peers and teachers. If they homeschool, their point of reference is the family.

To the parent who is "sending a light" into the public school--- How many souls has your child won? Is your child making a change? Or is the school changing your child? I've never seen this "light" that the students are suppose to be. To be a light, your child needs to first be saved, discipled and walking in the light himself.

Nailed it! And, not only should they be saved, but they need the maturity to be that light in such an atmosphere. Most kids are not mature enough in their Christianity yet to evangelize their classroom.

This makes me think of the image of picturing your child standing in a chair. Expecting them to evangelize the school would be the same as that child pulling everyone up into the chair with them. What is more likely to happen? Your child will get pulled off of the chair.

I was one of those parents who thought that my kids were supposed to be the light in such a dark world, but you couldn't have put it any better! one thing is God's divine grace over our children and another very different is being light to the world, first they have to be discipled, saved to understand their purpose of bringing light.
When I first began homeschooling, it started out so awkward!! I would look at my then 7 and 8 year old daughters with tears in my eyes and think, "oh, no I have brought you out of all the public school fun stuff!" Well, it took time, but we adjusted to our new way of life and created our own fun. I tossed out a lot of what the government says our kids need to learn and focused on their character and teaching good work ethic. My husband developed a side business a few years later which ended up being his main job and source of income and "hired" our girls to help. Now as teenagers they have become talented photographers and videographers and because of trade shows, know how to deal with the public as well. You will not regret the adventure of homeschooling! Here's to spending time together as a family and teaching godly values as Deut 6:6-7 tells us to do.

Same! 3 years in and it still takes time to readjust and recenter! Sooo many times I wonder "Can I do this??" And then I hear, "Yes, of course I can---I am the perfect parent for my kiddo!"
I’m struggling with this even with graduating my first child this May. I homeschooled my son for the last 7 years and he’s amazing. My 5 year old regularly says she wants to go to school and I start feeling bad that I’m keeping her from that experience. I have to remind myself that what she wants is the time with friends and she gets opportunities to be around other children. I hope to get to the point where I don’t feel a bit guilty. I just can’t imagine her being with strangers all day while I’m just at home.
We just started homeschooling our preschooler this year with the intent to start her in kindergarten when the pandemic ended. And now I will never put her public school. I've learned that I am able. And God will always walk me thru the season we are in.
Hello! I’m just another mom who pulled my 4 kids out of public school recently and took up homeschooling! There are MANY resources and local homeschooling co-op groups. I didn’t “know what I was doing”. But I’m their mother. I know I love them, I know I want the best for them, I know I will protect them, I’m intelligent and they are my responsibility and my joy. You can do it too.

We started with the “ONE YEAR at a time” idea… 22 years later I ‘retired’.
They say we are anti-education yet its the opposite, we are extremely pro-education hence we homeschool. Also, 99% of the socialization I personally learned/experienced growing up in public school, was bad. Homeschooled children are actually kinder, have better manners, morals etc.

Homeschooling my daughter was absolutely the best choice I ever made. She is 12 now, has plenty of friends and interests, hobbies, and topics of learning that she enjoys a lot. I enjoy teaching and even learning with her so much. I just can't imagine giving my child off to be raised by other people all day. I know a lot of people think they can't homeschool, but there are so many options, I would really encourage you to look into it.
What if my husband earn money only tonpay rent and food? I wish I can do homeschooling but not sure if is the wisest thing in this context.
@@Carmen-rz9hl Of course you are the only one who can make that decision, but there are options, even for a situation like this. I don't know what you do for work, but one open could be to work opposite shifts with your husband. You could also join a homeschool co-op, where each parent agrees to do the
teaching on a certain subject for one day each week, or every other week, depending on the size of the group. In that case you would still be able to work. If you have a family member who would baby sit while you're at work, you could do school time when you're not at work. You're home school needn't be at the same time, or even days, as public school. Best wishes, regardless of what you decide to do!
As a former substitute teacher in various high schools in IL & FL over 10+ years, I say get your kids out of public schools if you can. Not just bc of the socialism, CRT, SEL, but bc of lack of discipline too. I sat in on plenty of classes taught by permanent teachers and students run the rooms. And cell phones… the cell phones… all day. Only exceptions were advanced placement or honors classes and that was mainly bc of parental examples and expectations.
I definitely missed out on some major proper math instruction in high school because of lack of class discipline. I got by but really should have excelled further =/
Additionally, when I managed to get into AP History one year (because I had heard from other students that the regular teacher was not a favorite), I discovered a whole new, amazing classroom setting. (To this day it's one of my favorite classes to think back on.) No one had ever told me that I could have requested to be on the AP track and in still pretty frustrated about it because I could have grown into that level of academic responsibility if someone had simply told me it was an option!
I use to think I’d never homeschool but after teaching in the public school system for seven years, I am now more confident than ever that homeschooling is the best option out there. If you have the ability to homeschool, just do it! Don’t let your fears hold you back.
I have had four of the professional educators tell me that they do not blame me and it was the best thing for me to do since I have kept my children home after the pandemic. When I spoke to one of these educators about potentially re-enrolling my children in the next year or so she quickly jerked her head and looked me directly in my eyes and said no.
This teacher told me to keep my kids out of school let that sink in. She informed me that the schools have lost the focus on what the purpose of education is supposed to be.

The particular homeschooling curriculum chosen can make a tremendous difference. In the case of a niece and nephew of mine, from early grades they learned Latin, from there they were taught to read the classic Greek and Roman philosophers - in Latin. Their curriculum is called, Classical Conversations.
From that, they went on to learn biblical apologetics.
These kids are about ready to enter college and they are a couple of freaking razors.

I attended Classical Conversations from Foundations all the way through Challenge IV and graduated in 2021. I was also in the process of D1 collegiate swimming when I sustained a career ending injury. Now, I’m a computer science major and an actor with theatrical representation. My Classical Conversations education equipped me with too many educational & lifestyle skills to count, and provided me with an amazing biblical foundation upon which I have built my worldview. I want to homeschool my children when I have them, and give them the same quality of education I received. For anybody considering homeschooling and/or Classical Conversations, I can say with 100% certainty: Do it. It is completely worth it. Your children won’t just be okay, they will flourish. I consider my education to be one of the biggest blessings in my life, and one of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave to me.

I have triplets, a child 15 months younger, and one 2 years younger than that. My triplets went to public school kindergarten and had a wonderful teacher. But they were so far ahead of the other students they were bored. The teacher would give them advanced work to challenge them. Then the school had a speaker come in and give a talk about body safety and strangers. No parents were allowed to hear the content or get any information regarding what the speaker would say. I kept my kids out but did get to witness the speaker at another school. He basically told them all adults are predators and that includes babysitters, grandparents, parents, religious leaders, and neighbors. I have spoken to my kids on these topics to keep them safe without traumatizing them as I feel this talk would have done. After their year finished up I pulled them out of school and began to homeschool. 6 years later and I have zero regrets. My kids are well rounded socially, academically, and emotionally. They are involved in numerous activities with kids their age and have had experiences they never would have sitting in a public or private school. I enjoy the time we get to spend together every day and feel like my husband and I are raising them, not the government. Before I had my children I was a public school teacher and was devastated by the things I saw and heard in the building from students and staff. I had two brothers join my junior accelerated Engliah class who were homeschooled previously. They were 14. They were so far ahead of the public school kids. I had to constantly challenge them. They were more respectful and well behaved. Homeschooling isn't just a family event. Your community is a good teacher partner. Our area is a huge homeschool area and there are always gatherings and events for the kids to do. I highly recommend it if you are able to do so.

@@slee7991 by doing PSEO, you substitute your public education dollars for the last 2 years of Highschool into your college education so essentially you skip 2 years of highschool and the state pays for college instead. I did that and then I got a generous academic Scholarship (I was a 4.0 student) and some Financial aid for the last 2 years.
Oh my goodness I really needed this episode today. I had already decided on homeschooling a couple of weeks ago but it was cemented today after I went to pick up my children early today because my daughter had an allergy attack and my special needs son who has anxiety was having a full blown meltdown because they wouldn’t let him call home. After I took them home I found out that his meltdown was because he was complaining about an ear ache and the teacher yelled at him and told him to shut up. So glad that we are homeschooling next year I would pull him out right now but this week is the last real week of school and it seems pointless at this time.

Pandemic homeschoolers here! Before the pandemic I never thought in a million years that I’d homeschool my 6 young kids. Now we’re going on our 3rd year and loving it! I discovered a new love and such a security in in homeschooling! I was a certified teacher before having kids and now I know that this is my calling. My own kids!!

Absolutely. Homeschooling is growing rapidly here in South Africa as well Of course the government is not happy and trying to shut down or at least regulate homeschoolers. They want to have the say on how and what we teach. CRT, gender fluidity, CSE (Comprehensive Sexuality Education) etc etc is also creeping in. Homeschooling is the only way for us.
I was a public school teacher for 25 years. Retired in 2020. Pulled my youngest out of school and started homeschooling! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done! SO much time is WASTED in school and high achieving students get left behind. Everyone should homeschool! There are so many wonderful Christian curriculums to choose from! I love homeschooling so much!!
Here in France home education is in jeopardy since 2020. From our right to Homeschool to an authorization from the Government; in case you child has special needs, plays sports or art in a high level. Please pray for us and my family, actually we should be praying for each other without ceasing. I will be praying for you 🇺🇸 so you don't lose your right to homeschool as we did.

I love homeschooling! I've done it for 12 years now. I didn't start for political reasons, but out of necessity. We decided to keep doing it though. The kids wanted to keep doing it. It's been amazing! Don't think you need money or patience. You don't. You can do this through all the books at the public library, through hands-on, real life experiences, through friends and family. Take them to businesses and talk with the people doing the different jobs. At 8-10 years old, people would always come up to me and tell me they could talk to my kids like they were adults. The socialization argument is completely false. They get MORE opportunities to talk to more people instead of only kids their own age.
My husband and I have been praying for our 1 year old and our baby on the way regarding their educational future. We’ve even leaning towards homeschooling, and y’all made me feel more confident about the decision! Love and appreciate y’all!! ❤️
Michelle, you might consider writing a letter to yourself right now, with your "why" for homeschooling. In a few years when they are ready for school, you might be tired from the toddler years and forget what was motivating you to homeschool in the future. Write it down now :-) God bless you.

We pulled our children form public school when my oldest was in 7th grade. He’s now a senior and my only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner! He has told so many people that being homeschooled was one of the best things that happened to him. He says he’s been free to grow “roots” in his faith and find the purpose God has given him without the “static” of the world interfering. He also was able to start his own business. He’ll be attending college next year with a full athletic scholarship.
And I must add…

At that age, did he want to be home schooled? I want to home school my daughter for the 6th grade, but she is worried about missing out with her peers. She is already being influenced in the public school. She was in private Christian from K-4 and just stared 5th in public.
Allie, thank you for presenting an in depth discussion of home education. My wife and I started home educating in 1988, we have six children (now ages 26-40) that we home schooled K-12. We had a million reasons and goals when we started and it quickly became overwhelming trying to juggle all those things. As we grew in our understanding of what we wanted to accomplish, we really narrowed our goals which led to curriculum choices that supported where we wanted to go.
The Scriptures are clear that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It became clear to us over the years that we wanted our children to have the tools to pursue wisdom. So we came up with our three goals:
1. We want our children to know the truth
2. We want our children to be able to discern error
3. We want our children to be able to refute error in a Christ-like manner.
This led to a Biblical Worldview - Great books, Biblically based style of education. There are several excellent curriculum options to assist parents in achieving this.
Home schooling is difficult, time consuming and thoroughly worth it. While home schooling is not an automatic ticket that we punched so our children we become Christians, it was certainly one of the means that God used to bring all six of our children to a strong robust faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and an ability to navigate in a world that is fallen. So, as an ardent home schooling advocate, I would ask that parents not just consider what their children might avoid by not attending public school, but what God can establish in your home and the lives of your children through raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
Much thanks to you and Mr. Cameron for this discussion. I pray it will cause many parents to pray and seriously consider their education options for their gifts from God, their children.

I homeschooled all 3 of my kids in the 1990s. My oldest is 34 and teaching her babies now. Stay strong parents! God will bless you. I would do it all over again.
As a public educator for over 14 years, I can honestly say, the system (not only local but at large) is BROKEN. But when God called us to homeschool our only son starting in kindergarten, I walked away from my life as a public educator. The thought of sending him into public school felt like I was inserting my only child into a machine. It’s so freeing. You realize almost immediately how much of a public school day is fluff and wasted time. He’s going into 5th grade. He’s learned soooo much. And we’ve done it all with a biblical world view. And God did all of this BEFORE Covid. My heart goes out to public educators (because most are just exhausted and not really focused on indoctrination) and parents who feel they have no choice in their child’s education. It might be a leap of faith to take education into your own hands, but it is so worth it!
If a babysitter was acting inappropriately with your children, you would fire them immediately. But with schools, so many parents today are pleading with and bargaining with the schools to NOT abuse their children mentally and psychologically. I’ve been homeschooling for 2 years now and I’m so thankful I don’t have to waste my time worrying and checking up on a school administration that doesn’t care about my concerns. My children and I do scripture memory and devotionals every day and we’re done with all our subjects in 3 hours tops. We even have lunch as a family with my husband. My kids have time afterward to explore leisure activities afterward like gardening or whatever my kids find interesting and we get to spend more time as a family. Nobody loses in my opinion.

I pulled my last four teenagers out three years ago and God truly blessed this decision and I absolutely do not regret making this decision. They are literally learning their studies and values and disciplines. My kids really benefits from homeschooling. Two of my four graduated early and are now college and working students. Homeschool is a better way.
It's an honor and a true blessing to homeschool my kiddos. It's without a doubt the greatest thing I've ever done with my time and I have bonded so much with them! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to do so and I pray that many families who are considering homeschooling would be encouraged and empowered to take the reins on their children's futures! 💗
I am the product of a homeschool childhood and now mother of 5. We didn’t always homeschool, but began during the pandemic. Y’all made a good point that it can be overwhelming, but it’s worth the effort. I certainly fumbled through my first year as a teacher (honestly still fumble) however, I’ve learned so much in the last 2 years. The values that I get to instill in the minds of my children is priceless. We really get to live out the commands in the Bible to teach our children as we walk, and work and travel. Our church also highly encourages us to homeschool and so I get to train up my children alongside my sisters in Christ who have the same goals as I do to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. This episode was so encouraging to me!

I can honestly say that I’m grateful my oldest child asked me to homeschool him when he was 11. I had 4 kids in elementary school at the time and 2 under 5. It seemed impossible but God has guided me every step of the way. Now, having 8 kids and many with learning disabilities, I LOVE being able to tailor their education in a way that works for them. Homeschool momma here of 4 years. God wouldn't let me rest over this. I fought it and fought it and sent my child to public school for 1 year. And it was miserable. I finally listened to God, he lead me to my kid's curriculum and I have never looked back. It was the best decision I made for my children. My point is if there are parents who don't think they can teach your children, you're wrong, patience with your children will grow, their education will be so much more in-depth, you will sleep much more peaceful at night when you know what your children are learning, and their safe from the political agenda of the world. This world has been going after our children for years and we parents can control this. While we still have our rights and freedom to do so. Go for it and you wont regret it.
I hate when people tell me that I need to socialize my homeschooled kid. He’s not a puppy. I’d rather him learn how to be a good human from the Christian families we have around him that the kids from a public school who are terrible influences in him.
if socialization just means having friends, there are about a million people for them to be friends with through church and co ops!! the kids are so much kinder from what ive experienced, and way less depressed
My response to the socialization question is that is one of reasons that led us to homeschool. Make them defend the benefits of the socialization found in public schools. People may think of bullying. They may think of peer pressure. They may think of bad behavior they bring back to the home.
This was so encouraging. Thank you so much for this. I pulled my oldest two children out of public school summer of 2020 when our school system was trying to take control of our children in our own home. They were entering 2nd grade and 4th grade at the time. We had a baby in 2020 and another in 2021 and I have continued to homeschool my oldest two. It has been wonderful and hard at the same time and I have to admit that I am weary, mainly from my two babes, and I have seriously been considering and praying about sending my older two back to public school this fall. I began praying in January about it and have had no real peace either way. I needed this encouragement to keep on keeping on homeschooling. It is hard work but absolutely the best work that I could be doing.
There are seasons in our lives. Homeschooling is flexible enough if you don’t copy the public school.
I have a 4th grader and 2 littles it can be hard but that is the joy of homeschool it's flexible to the season of life that your in.
Don't give up! I started homeschooling in Oct 2021. I have a 4th grader boy, and 9th grader girl. I also have a 10th grader in public school. I feel your emotions, frustrations and confusions. I live in a Democratic city of San Antonio Texas ( but a Red state indeed 😁) the public schools in my community are very one sided and got to experience it all during covid school shut down while they switched to Zoom classes I got to hear all the teachers personalities. That was enough to pull them out, not only that the teachers now these days complain about the children for any little thing or behavior in elementary. My oldest stayed in public High school because he loves JROTC program, he's ranked 3rd in his grade and is involved in UIL clubs he knows how public school can be but only has two more years to finish. My two kids love homeschooling wouldn't change it! My in laws oppose of it thinking they don't have a chance at college, I'm thinking they are jealous at times since I get to teach them myself. I am catholic, hispanic, I use Time4Learning program for homeschooling and we love President Trump! Don't give up on homeschooling!!

The years will go by quickly and you will be so glad you stayed with doing what you knew to be the best for your children. As the older ones grow they will be able to work more independently too and even help the younger ones and help around the house. Children need to know responsibility and that they have value. It’s good for them!

I was homeschooled from second grade up, graduated a homeschool student, was on the president's list every single semester in college. One of my professors actually told me that some of her best students have been homeschoolers--that they have better work ethic, generally better grades, etc. We just finished our third year of homeschooling our daughter--she just finished 2nd grade and got amazing results on her standardized test she's required to take once a year in our state. She's learning SO much and socialization is absolutely not a problem for her. She has a best friend whom she sees regularly and she plays with other kids regularly at library programs, homeschool group meetings, and church. And, honestly, they get better socialization skills because they learn socialization more organically, the way God designed it to work--they learn to socialize with people of all ages, not just their peers.
I knew I'd homeschool before having my baby. I get soooo much push back from my family. So glad I've found this community! ✨Raye
What family? Your spouse? Because that’s the only family member that matters. Everyone else doesn’t get to have an opinion. If they offer one, smile and change the subject. There’s no reason to discuss your personal decisions with “outsiders.”
When I was in school we had a full day of learning. I sent my kids to elementary school and their days were a waste. They spent all day away from me to only complete about an hours worth of schoolwork. I took them out because I knew I could give them more and because I wanted to be with them. Now two out of three are well educated adults that are not burdens to society and I don’t regret a minute of homeschooling.
I was one of those who never thought I'd homeschool my four kids, but that's the one good thing that came out of all this mess. My only regret is that we didn't start it earlier! We all love it, and any time I bring up the possibility of going back to private school, my kids (8, 9, 11, 12yos) all want to stay home. We have more friends than ever, my kids are who they were made to be (no awful peer influence), and they absolutely love learning now. It's so hard, but so good! If I can do it, anyone can! If you're equivocating, just go for it- you'll be daily blessed!

I home schooled 5 children. I started when my oldest was in 3rd grade.... And never looked back!
I supplemented high school curriculum with Co-ops (other friends / families) and we had such a rich cultural and educational adventure! There were days of hard work, yes, but I have never regretted bringing my children home to educate them!
Btw - one subject
I felt very inadequate to teach is math - but there are so many good tutors and/or programs available!
(Math U See has video instruction DVD's I highly recommend for high school) - but despite any inadequacies on my part - I prayed and the Lord faithfully met the needs and challenges along the way!
My children now have a Math degree (Summa Cum Laude!), Art /Science degree, Dental / orthodontic degree, Esthetician degree and one working to finish a degree program.
Life is abt learning!

I was a 7 year public school teacher who stepped away from my dream job because I was shocked at the ways the schools tried educating large amounts of kids at once. It was terribly difficult, admin was more focused on classroom management. They've been stuck on this issue since I started schooling decades ago. Classroom management is not learning! Its an excuse to pack them in!

My mom homeschooled my brother and I all the way through, other than my sophomore and senior year. I begged and begged to go to public school. Looking back almost 10 years later, I wish I would have never gone to public school, and I am very thankful to my parents who made the sacrifices for my mom to stay home and homeschool my brother and I. My husband and I plan on homeschooling our kids and there is no way I would send them to school seeing and hearing what they are teaching! If it was bad 10 years ago… it’s much worse now.
I was a child in the 90’s and early 00’s. My mother decided to homeschool me, not because of fear of ideological influences but because I had autism and difficulty paying attention in a group setting. She saw I learned concepts better in a one to one setting and enjoyed being my teacher, so when my sister and brother came along she decided to just go all the way out. Wokiness aside, every child learns better in different ways. Finding the best method is a journey you have to be willing to take.
Started homeschooling this year. I have kids ages 11, 8, 8 and 5. My kids thought they would miss their friends and family, but now, if you were to ask if they wanted to go back to public school, they would say no. My oldest had a teacher who would essentially take advantage of her students, saying stuff like, whoever gets me coffee is my favorite student! She was ‘joking’ but when student brought her coffee, she still took every cup. Then, class on environmental science would turn into misinformation about economics, as she dispelled Malthusian theory upon the children and made them believe humans were so terrible.
In all honesty, we may have been able to withstand public school, as we always made an effort to engage with our kiddos about school. We were also never afraid of COVID. However, policy for remote learning made us realize that homeschool is totally doable for us! I love helping my kids learn in the best way they know. They love having the one on one attention they get from me.
Also, I just found out that Senator Ron Paul has a curriculum he put together! All state and federal certified. He designed the curriculum for grades 1-12, and it’s meant to be 98% self taught after grade 3. If anyone is looking for a curriculum for homeschool, it’s pretty cheap, and you should check it out! Pretty sure you could just Google Ron Paul Curriculum
My public school experience was miserable. I found the buildings and classroom environments to be stifling. I longed to see something beautiful; it was not to be found there. I wanted fresh air; the bathrooms and bus always smelled of smoke. I was teased and bullied from mid-elementary on. Teachers scowled at me and treated me unfairly, starting with my first grade teacher who purposefully tripped me when walking down the aisle to my desk. Gym class was dreaded--dodge ball? Ugh! Guess who was an easy out? Being forced to shower naked with other people? Who dreamed that up? Not people that truly love and care for children. I experienced tremendous boredom. It was difficult to make and keep friends; school social events brought more failure and anxiety. I only escaped the temptation to do harmful things (drink, drugs, premarital sex) because I was a social outcast. School was as a sentence to be served!
Now, teasing and bullying can take place 24/7 thanks to social media. The occult and its influence are reaching more of our young people today to their detriment. College and career are emphasized to young girls in school to the exclusion of marriage, motherhood, and homemaking. Liberal policies and perspectives are championed there, immoral practices and lifestyles are taught there, religious practices (yoga, mindfulness), are experienced there...
Christian parents, please provide better for your children!

Read Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto. His Underground History of American Education is an eye opener, too.
So True! You just described my life when I went to school in the 70’s and 80’s. This is exactly why I home school my daughter. She has never set foot in a public school. I could never allow her to go through that! I felt like I went into my past when I read your comment. If you are the social outcast it’s ten times worse and I was a social outcast too! Having to shower in front of your peers and teacher! Our teacher told us she had to do a soap check before we could rinse off. And she would stand there and stare at us. She was creepy!
We just finished our first year homeschooling!! We made the decision right before kindergarten. So thankful!! I have many many friends that do it and love what they are doing and how much fruit I see in their kid’s lives. I doubted I could do it but it’s not hard. One on one with your kids is such a gift to them and they learn so well. Voddie Baucham has a teaching called Children of Caesar that I listened to and it rocked my world!! My husband and I grew up going through the public school. That is why we homeschool today! We finally realize how brain washed we were! Going through public school we were taught to think that the democrats were hero's and Republicans were our enemies! Not joking! Any students that claimed to be Republicans were shamed. We didn't realized how brainwashed we were by the system until we moved out of California! Never again! Our children will be taught differently. They will not be victims to the public school system. My husband and I are first generation of immigrants from parents who ran away from the communist war of WWII. We are proud to be Americans and we love our freedom here. We must keep it. We choose to homeschool to preserve and teach it.
Three things I say to all Christian parents of school-age children:
1)Never choose your schooling based on fear, only on faith
2) There is no right choice for every family, so put away arrogance about it. Just be supportive of your brethren and encourage them. Don’t diminish the types of schooling God provides others.
3) Salvation and character development of our children is up to God. He can and will bless humble endeavours to be faithful but will abase those made in pride.
Although homeschooling over ten years afforded us wonderful and close relationships and the ability to disciple, our children’s future also needed to be moulded. I couldn’t cope with the load of work for high school subjects, pushing them to do the work, and caring for little ones at the same time. We had to think of our children’s future careers and to prepare them for them. So we, after much broken-hearted prayer, sent them to schools. So far, God has been so faithful to provide in all areas of concern. We still must be on our knees, but we needn’t fear when our Father is taking care.
I add one more thought: I have six friends with children who don’t accept themselves as they were born. Three of them were raised in conservative Christian environments and homeschooled. None of them profess now in their twenties and all of them have taken hormones. It is devastating. Beware of putting confidence in the flesh because our enemy of souls knows our children and can attack them wherever they are and God can save them wherever they are.
I pray every day for the children of believers everywhere, that they will put us to shame with their godliness, regardless of how they are schooled.
Exactly!! Salvation, glory, and power belong to God. I have been meditating on Psalm 139 and Ephesians 2 when it comes to schooling next year. We homeschooled my kindergartener this year (with my 4 and 1 year old), but I can't shake the desire to go to our public school as ambassadors for Christ this year. I'm asking God to see if there be any hurtful way in me and lead me in the everlasting way...especially because my daughter is not yet a follower of Christ but she has learned Scriptural principles and loves the Bible...my husband and I will be lights and my daighter as God provides.
Ephesians 2 tells us that we have been saved by grace through faith. We are not saved by grace through homeschooling or even saved by grace through public schooling. In any school choice, we parents must be DILIGENT to disciple and train our children. Take heart that faith, though, is given to our children by God and not by us, so no child or parent or teacher can boast!
God entrusts vulnerable children to their parents. Parents are to provide them with love, protection, nurture, and instruction, all in obedience to God’s word. Via curriculum, clubs, and assemblies, children in public schools are being taught things that are harmful, untrue, and counter-Christian. These include things such as evolution, yoga, mindfulness, carnal/unbiblical sexual knowledge and practices, tenets and practices of Christ-rejecting world religions, secular humanism, and moral relativism. Children suffer bullying and teasing in the public schools. They are embarrassed there by inappropriate public displays of affection between students. They are offered cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and pornography. These things, and others, are threats to the wellbeing of children.
Homeschooling offers the opportunity to eliminate such exposures and to foster their growth and development in all ways under the care of loving parents. A consistent biblical worldview can be taught throughout all subjects. Scripture can be taught and applied throughout the day. Character training can be emphasized. Family relationships can be strengthened. To their benefit, children can observe the example of their godly parents day-in and day-out. There is much scriptural backing for such a model (Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Proverbs 19:27, Proverbs 13:20, Proverbs 22:6, etc.) To act in obedience to these commands and to apply biblical principles is to trust the Lord; it is not to trust the flesh.
We parents need to act, sacrificially if necessary, to ensure the welfare of our children during their formative years.
@@smpittsburgh264 I certainly understand from your perspective. Parents should be very grateful if they have church families with whom they may get together regularly and I’ve known people who have tremendous access to sports teams, clubs, and other enjoyable things. I didn’t because our [very conservative] denomination doesn’t homeschool. Our nearest group was an hours away and we couldn’t make it often because of the palaver. This was fun for the little ones but once they hit about ten, it was boring for them. We really only did a history lesson, a paper craft, and the the children played on the playground. None of us were particularly adept at doing “fun” things because we all happen to be introverted book nerds. 😂
Actually, I did find one homeschool group closer to home (30 min). I went once. The children there were positively wild, hitting each other, calling each other swear words, uncorrected ( “free range”/unschooled), and used the Lord’s Name in vain so much I had to take my children and leave. So there’s a variation.
My children’s teachers ask if such and such is okay with me, religiously, which I really appreciate.
Vaping in the high schools is dealt with heavily, as when caught, the children are automatically expelled. We want our children to understand evolution and why it’s wrong and we handle sex education ourselves.
I would say homeschooling or not, we have to be very, very careful with the internet and entertainment, as that’s where the enemy of souls ensnares even the homeschooled children.
I read a great quote once about the whole socialization thing. "forced association is not socialization". My daughter has a ton more friends and more valuable relationships since starting homeschool.

I’ve been homeschooling my son for 2 years and it has been amazing!! I quit my job making 6 figures and couldn’t be more overjoyed to have this opportunity with my kids. They are so happy and surrounded by people who love them and are invested in their overall well being.
Our son is in his 7th year of homeschooling having been pulled out in 3rd grade and our daughter is 9 and has never been to school. Not one regret during this entire time. Best decision ever. If you’re considering it, the only negative I could give you is the people who may not understand why you’re doing it, but so many come around after they see the blessing it truly is 💕
I'm a teacher and in my school district, we have a policy that states that the privacy of kids is so important that if they choose to identify as someone else and another gender, we as teachers must affirm this new identity, but we are NOT to even hint of any change to the parents. So in communication with home, we use the name and gender that is on their birth certificate. I'm waiting for the day I get let go because I refuse to follow this policy. It's outrageous. If you are a parent with a child in public school, look for a nonconforming policy in your district and FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. Your child is YOURS!! Not the department of education's!! I have been working to fight this policy based on our school handbook, but am not getting very far, but parents YOU have the power! Fight these crazy policies like crazy!

Keep fighting for YOUR children too! I'm glad that you're on the parents' side of your school district's nonsense policy, and I hope that more educators do that with you. But it's getting less and less likely that educators will stand up to the beurocracy.
I do not regret withdrawing my children from the public school system. Our homeschooling years were such a huge blessing to us. I do not regret it at all!
@@natalieziadeh3778 all the teachers have bought into the policy and use the kids preferred names and pronouns. Ask far as I know, I'm the only one who has a conversation with the kids about why I feel it's dishonest. And unless their parents ask me to use the preferred name and pronouns, I'm not in the business of dividing families.
As far as homeschooling goes, I have a step daughter in a far worse district than the one in which I work. They have actively hired a DEIJ coordinator who has a website referring to white people in derogatory and berry dehumanizing terms. I wish I could pull her, but with my son and new baby, I'm on the fence, because I'm wondering if they could give a Christian perspective, but maybe I can give them a great homeschool experience where they understand both sides but can defend the biblical worldview that we are teaching them. I just do not want the school district to "adopt" my children...it's child abuse on their part.
@@rileeb848 Good for you in standing up for what is right. If I were in your shoes, I'd want my own kids teachers to do the same... And if you know you're alone in that battle at your school, then you know own children's teachers aren't doing the same.
We only have a short time in our children's lives (and even shorter in a step-child's life) to connect and set them straight. When they're being told the opposite for hours a day in a public school, we're setting ourselves up for failure, or at least a more difficult battle for their hearts and minds.
I wrestled with the decision years ago and God gave me a little more faith to trust him with this. I stepped into homeschooling around 2015 and it was such a surprising joy and blessing, and it has grown me in ways that I didn't expect. Perhaps you can find some other public school teachers who also homeschool and get some insight into how it's going for their families, and their "why."
Keep praying about this and trust wherever it is that God is calling you.

I have been homeschooling my child for 3 months now since last watching this. Shortly after watching this video 7 months ago I felt a heavy conviction to pull my son out of public school. This whole woke culture can kiss my tushy!! My son has grown so spiritually 💙 just in the short time I've been homeschooling him praise Jesus for having the freedom to do this as many country's have no choice or religious freedom! We just wrapped up our 10th year of homeschooling, and I wish I could adequately express what joy I find in spending time with my kids. Is it always easy? No. But it's definitely worth it, even - and especially - the high school years.
We are a homeschool family and our kids have only known Christian homeschool influences for education. It’s amazing how their values are so much opposite of what we see in almost all public school kids
I was homeschooled through the 90s and now I homeschool my five kids. I'm so thankful that I get to do this for my family.

I pulled my 3 elementary aged children out of school in late October 2020 when virtual learning was just a complete and utter failure for us. I didn't know what I was doing, but I figured anything they learned from me was better than the absolute nothing they were learning virtually. My kids are happy and thriving and we now attend a Christian homeschool co-op one day per week where I'm teaching my kids as well as other kids. I have found an amazing community within this homeschooling co-op and my kids and I are so much better for it.
I am a Christian woman, wife, and mother. I am also a teacher at a public school. I have many colleagues who are also Christians. We take care of our students, and I spread the Word to my students with the way I live my life. The county where we live is more conservative than others but it is up to the parents to raise their children.
My children are Christians. My husband and I are committed to show them the truth, the only truth every day.
The center of our life is Jesus Christ, and always will be. But homeschooling is not for everyone.
My husband is an educator too. We're in the same boat - committed Christian family with a kid in public school. It can be really discouraging to see these videos sometimes-- you end up feeling either demonized or invisible.
I was homeschooled, so I'm familiar with that world too. I agree that it's not a good fit for everyone.

The teacher wrote “reflect” and she didn’t understand why she wrote a different word.
So frustrating.
I started homeschooling my kids last year and it was not very smooth or perfect. But I will never forget the way their eyes would like up when they realized they understand new things! Can't wait to homeschool for as long as I can!

I went to public school and plan on homeschooling my children. I went through a rebellious phase in my teenage years that caused a lot of stress and strife in my family. My parents always wondered how I got caught up in the wrong crowd and where their little girl went. Peer pressure is so so strong, especially in high school! It was heartbreaking for my family and it took several years to regain my family’s trust and get back to normal. I look forward to homeschooling my kids. Protect the children!
oh for sure, i was the same. i got into shop lifting (got caught and repented immediately), lots of sexual stuff, etc. thankfully God used it all for good, it's how i met my husband who is now a Christian with me, and two awesome kids! but yeah i don't want my kids to go through the stuff i had to go through.

You can always put a child back in school, but it is difficult to take the out.

I was sending mines back this fall (seriously thinking about it), then boom! Saw that on UA-cam and said "welp, there goes that. My boys been homeschooled since 2019. I'm officially out of cash and had to go back to work Oct 2021. I will continue homeschooling. My 3 oldest sons has been doing public school virtual learning and it's the worst! I will do actual homeschooling this fall. I need God's strength tho cus OMG. I have a business and it's so slow! I'm literally ready to thrown in the towel. Next month will be a year!

Contact HSLDA before you do anything for advice. You can join as we did for one year and it cost us less than our last year of school supplies in public school. HSLDA will tell you everything you need to know in your state and what to do. Contact them first.

I was pulled out in 8th grade in 2007 to be homeschooled and it was wonderful ! My husband was homeschooled K-12. Now, by God's grace and blessing. We are now homeschooling our own children.
We have used my father's world curriculum and now Ambleside Online (not an online school). And some Simply Charlotte Mason curriculum. It's a free curriculum outline. It's so affordable and it's a feast of scripture, hymns, church history, great literature, habits and the arts. ❤️

Yes. We had our kids in private Christian school for the first few years, but almost all of my teaching salary was used to cover it. And we were not super impressed (though the teachers were lovely). We brought them home, found wonderful communities of like minded families, and went for it for the next 12 years. Not only did my kids excel in college (graduating with honors), but they both eventually became Christians as young adults and have chosen Christian spouses. Was it easy? Never. Any regrets? None. We used Classical Conversations and cannot say enough good things about the program. It not only helped us homeschool, but to draw nearer to God.
I'm gonna be homeschooling because i havent heard anything positive about public school. I am a christian and i want my daughhter to be able to read her Bible all the time. When I was in public school, my Bible would get taken away and I almost got expelled over it. In public school, I was used, abused, and almost took my own life. I am never putting my daughter through that. Her life is too precious to throw into a harmful situation like that.
