@Cosmic Boogerspoon Thank you so sweet much. Have a nice day. I wish you well.

Doug: This blade is very light!
Every Seasoned viewer: Congrats on winning.
Only if it survives the strength test, otherwise its better to be a little heavier so it doesn't warp
Maybe need a sudden death where they hit some bricks or cinder-blocks to determine the winner
There's been some light blades that lost because they didn't cut as well (and that's only counting the ones that survived the strength test well). Like the William Wallace Sword. The lighter blade came out of the strength test perfectly, but didn't cut as well as the heavier blade... (and the heavier blade wasn't tooo heavy to wield). I think they also judge based on how the blade is supposed to be used. It's very important for blades that are meant to be light to be light - and so lightness becomes a much more important judging factor. If a dagger weighs as much as a great sword, that's not going to be an effective dagger. Whereas for blades that are meant to be heavy, lightness becomes just bonus points - if two heavy blades are doing just as well in all other aspects, then the lighter blade wins, because it makes it slightly easier to wield.
True
Well it is ( accounting for all other factors ) due to the fact that a light weapon can be wielded for an extended period of time. Which is an important factor
"i fight cancer and want to show everyone they can power through"
"Hot steel like play-do"
Yeah i was kinda hoping in the back of my mind that mabye just mabye doug would share some of the winnings with justin or at least donate some to cancer research or something idk.
The duality of man
yeah man you can do it
It didn’t stop me. Nothing will.
@@justinworkman9424 Your blade was hella fine man, honestly it was on par with Doug's blade you can be proud of your work.
At 8:23 even Doug was stunned about how sharp the blade was😅
Watched that part like 15 times 😆
Came here for this comment.
@@Merowulf 🤣🤣
the blade even made that dull DINGGG sound on a cut, ASMR level
Yeah I've noticed that too
Been through chemo, and when he says it takes it out of you, he's under selling it. Mad props to him for doing this while going through that. Regardless of the outcome, he's a champ.
Thanks!
I was on chemo meds 20 years ago for an autoimmune disease and I can't describe to anyone how tired it makes you. It felt like I was welded to my bed every morning.
Sword
This is one of the closest matchups I've seen on this show. Both swordsmiths did an amazing job at their blade. The only deciding factor being weight which is what it usually comes to when it's this close.
@@justinworkman9424 Done chemo also. Nice to see what you achieved. Keep up the excellent work
MAJOR props to Justin for making an outstanding weapon while going through his health issues. That's a real man right there, folks. Inspiring.
Thank you!
@@justinworkman9424 how is your treatment going? I lost my uncle to cancer last year, and I saw how brutal chemo can be. I hope things are going well for you.
@@petrolhead0387 I’m off chemo. Been so for a month now- or something like that lol. I’m seeking out other alternative methods of treatments instead of pumping that poison into my body.
@@justinworkman9424 as long as we see you back in the forge, fit and healthy, you do what is best for you. Sending hope and strength from UK.
@@petrolhead0387 the world hasn’t seen the last of me! Thanks for the love!
6:24 Dave showing skills
I mean that's some pretty basic technique when it comes to bo staff.
@@wereboarder2009 much like your intelligence level pretty basic but I'm sure you're a master with the bow staff right Napoleon 😂
@@shadyganley8877 With over a decade of experience I would hope so. But please tell me more.........
Old man got moves!
I honestly love watching these blacksmith shows, really cool to see swords get made like this!
Search - Forging A Katana
It's a very cool documentary
They used to show a lot more of the forging process
Naah, this one is not a swords, its a large knife.
@@FunnyAnchorman this is a UA-cam clip bro
@@FunnyAnchorman I was just thinking this. Must be something to do with not wanting people to gain any knowledge of manufacturing a blade
Every "bladesmith" on this show making anything bigger than a knife:
"This will be the first time I make a blade this big" lol
To be fair there isn't really much of a call for anything bigger than a knife these days. So there's little profit for one man operations to invest in the training neccessary to make swords.
“Yeah my signature blade is a seax” because they can’t make anything else...
I mean... how many people commission swords nowadays? Of course most of them aren't swordsmiths.
@@スノーハッピー live blade sword and axe... ( yeah it is more armour normally)
Do you see niggas carrying a Zulfikar? No, but they carry knives. Everyone does.
this is literally a big kitchen knife lmao
But really cool nevertheless.
More like a kitchen sword, lol.
Yeah that's what it is
Yeah.
Big is an understatement.
As Japanese, I am very proud of the Maguro Bocho. Love this video compared to most of the others.
I was a sushi chef for better part of a decade. I ate, breathed, shat sushi. Japanese cuisine was my entire life in my late 20’s and early 30’s. It was an honor- and albeit a little fitting- that this was the blade that I had to make in the finals.
@@justinworkman9424 , It's several months later; hoping you're doing fine.
Just watched your episode here.
Hope to see you on another rpisode of Forged in Fire. You'll win next time.
bladesmith: what you looking for?
buyer: I need a good blade. I am a samurai and a part-time tuna slicer.
bladesmith: say no more
Buyer : I work at the fish market, i need something good when the yakuza comes...
Bladesmith : yeah fxxx them !! I got something for you right here !!
Doug's son : "takes a knife then cut a steak."
Doug : "it lacurates easily into the flesh"
Doug's son : ........
hahahah
Doug: “it will keal.”
It will cut.
And... KEAL!
The best 2 blades that have ever been made in the history of the show imo ... the look, the simplicity, and the effectiveness.. they're ary
Not bad, but imho Ben's claymore has them beat, it's a harder blade to pull off, especially if there's no differential heat treat on the japanese blades. But these are a close second.
That look on Doug when he cut through that easy ! Amazing
Both bladesmiths have created remarkable tools. Definitely one of the best episode of the Forge in Fire.
I like how even though it’s a competition the contenders are always so supportively each other
Justin and I are great friends now! Best part of the competition!
2 champions in my eyes 💯
"Doug, congratulations you've won. Justin, unfortunately you're not gonna be leaving with the win today, Doug's gonna tell you why."
Doug: "Well I think my blade is better, so I win. Better luck next time bud."
Hey I wanted to comment the same
8:24 Doug's expression is like, "Wait what???"
Even a 1000 degree hot knife doesn’t cut through the butter so easily
Very close Competition. good job from both
Dundee : That is not a knife, this is a knife.
Doug : baby please.
Dave little spin had me LOL
It's seem like that blade is running on butter.. so smooth
It's at 8:25 for me, when doug looks at the blade like: "Did I miss it? Oh no. I got it" 🤣
5:35 ¡I wasnt ready for that Mortal Kombat moment!
Jade the bo staff user
Tell me they used all that chopped fish for some great sushi.
Also mad respect for the guy going through chemo. My mom is currently fighting cancer. It’s not easy. He’s a winner in my book
Every time I fire up the forge I’ll be sending your mom positive thoughts and vibes! I know it’s not much, but I wish her a speedy recovery!
It’s gotta be hard to perform so well and just barely lose to someone who did just a little better
I'd rather lose fair and square than lose because my weapon broke
hey are enchanted with "bane of tuna III"
XD
This is great 😂
And, with sharpness five.
sharpness 5
looting 2
I wonder how Japanese fish manufacturers react to this video 😂😂😂😂
First time hearing Dave making noise during the strength test.
In the last two episodes he did sounds, I guess he is spending too much time with Jay XD
@@misaelvillalba8671
Chris Watts*
@@MrTakeYoBitsh I ment Jay Nielson, the other presentator that each does the strength test screams like if were breaking his leg XD
The editor puts them
How about a show where they make armor?
Too ridiculously expensive. Armor costs a LOT.
Take way too much time to make a Full armor
And the inevitable cross-over where they test the armor against the forged weapons.
...and then the inevitable lawsuits.
They should test it by wearing it themselves and having Doug try to KEEL them.
Well, there is that one time that the blacksmiths forge a shield gauntlet
One of these days. One of these days, we're going to hear one of the judges say "I never thought we'd be saying this, but your weapon is actually too light."
Doug: "It's a lighter blade but your edge is so sharp it cut cleany through the fishes." Ok... Time to start looking for the next thing to watch!
The only reason I kept watching was to see if it would take damage being so light
I´m always stunned by the sportsmanship of the contestants after they announced the winner.
6:08 "When I say smallest of chips, I mean it's really small."
"And when I say really small, I mean below average size."
"And when I say below average size, I mean it's probably about average."
I don’t care how repetitive this show is it’s great. It’s one of the only things that shows the passion people have for blade smithing
Anyone else wondering what Doug said instead of "Maguro Bocho" at 3:40 to warrant the sound edit?
Yeah 😂
Maybe he said tuna sword and they wanted to stay with the technical name lol
tuna KEEEEEEEELLLL
“Overall, it will kieell.”
The sound of fish falling on the floor is marvellous
It's interesting how they tested a culinary tool as a weapon of death. They should've at lest incorporated a real life application type test. Also, did anyone else notice that Doug's tatami mats seemed narrower than Justin's?
Had the subtitles/CC on from a previous video, and at 0:45 it transcripted "forged in fire" as "fortune fire", now I can't get it out of my head
Lmao yeah it literally says fortune fire
Thank you History Channel for one of the few actually interesting shows you guys run. 😀
5:03
Did he really say “fishes” 😂😂😂
Think spine tapered to the Edge.. light, very Sharp, and Very Strong .. made parallel to Katana type Swords.
I think it would Very Difficult to make
Biggest *Well Done!!* to the guy on chemo. Props to you 💯
Thank you!

I loved this episode. Both these guys kinda deserved to win great competition!
8:25 he looks like “wait wtf just happened”
The look down after the first cut through the second sharpness test. That was... Cool to see.
New drinking game. Take a shot everytime the new host rubs his hands 👍😆🍻
Cancer when Justin is the one going though it: Why do I hear Boss music? *Justin appears with sword in hand* WHY DO I HEAR BOSS MUSIC!?
wait, what happened to Will Willis? I've only been watching older episodes..
He had a baby and is spending time with his family.
@@ZeCroiSSanT950 Oh ok, thx. So I'm guessing he won't return then?
Don’t much like the new guy, “I don’t know what to do with my hands”
TFW there's two Doug's and one made a blade so sharp the other one look at it in awe after the first sharpness test cut
:O
08:24 Doug: Did I miss the cut?
imagine doing a kill and strenght test for kitchen tools
Those were some amazing swords / long "kitchen" knives.
Idk how I came about this show but I’m hooked. 😂
I request history to show more content of making of the blade , cus thats the important and fun part to watch...
We wouldn't mind watching a video of about 5 mins extra!
The simplicity of this blade makes it one of the most elegant and beautiful weapons I've ever seen.
Two sweet guys 👏🏽
4:40 that fish be like 🗿
I can imagine PETA watching this episode right now.
You knew it was over when Doug smiled at the blade.
I wish they’d brought big tunas in and made professional cuts with 2 skilled cutters! It’s such a specialty knife 🔪, surprised at how excellent both of them turned out.
Think about the sushi they could have made with those fish
I think those fish are actually fed to animals so at least the meat doesn't go to waste.
those fish species aren't sushi fish. You have to cook them or you'll get sick. But yea, waste not want not.
I breaks my heart.
These Fish will Feed Wolfes in a Wolf sanctuary, so nothing wasted
According to David Baker, they usually take the animal carcasses to a wolf sanctuary in New York for food. As for the fish, they get filleted and end up in David's freezer XD
this is what I like to see, those were some very good blades, great level of craftsmanship. that one tho, wow, next level vorpal ginsu.
Justin your Inner Metal is Stronger than any steel out there💪
Why thank you!
The competitor Doug looks like Frédéric Diefenthal from Taxi movies :D
When I first heard Justin's name I thought back to Lost holy.
Look at doug face when he slice that atami mats
I just can't stop watching these ty you tube / history channel I'd of never gave it a try other wis
A very fair test. Suprised the blades weren't bashed against a brick.
8:04 Missed it by that much.
I have to admit I was nervous with Dustin.
It was a big risk home coming on to the show amid covid with him being in chemo.
I got strangely giddy when Doug praised the effectiveness of Doug’s blade on the cut test...
Also, I am intrigued by the “weapon” itself...just a useful tool that happens to be wicked sharp.
Also...I’m hungering for some fish.
they love light blade's....
Why does the new host rub his hands together constantly
*Why wasn't Julien from Trailer Park Boys holding his low ball glass of Jack n Coke?....*
At 8.24I don't think Doug even felt any resistance cutting through the bat.
It was so light and sharp that his strength pushed the blade all the way hitting the metal stand holding the bats after slicing one of the bats
4:33 that's sharp! When the other of the fish doesn't realize it lost the bottom half
im still waiting for a Kaskara forging contest this blade definitely deserves an episode .
When Forged in Fire gets a colab with master chef
Dave out here looking like Geralt of Rivia with that haircut. I approve 👍🏾
Seeing David spin those staff before making taking a hit, he reminds me of that character from Mortal Combat X. It made me smile. Freaking amazing!
8:24 judges being confused
8:24 that smile
We really need these blacksmiths nowadays incase of zombie apocalypse
Honestly a global economic meltdown is more likely than zombies. As we've yet to discover a way to reanimate the dead.
First time I have seen Doug surprised by the smoothness of a cut.
Hoping Doug would shout "Fish!" every time he chopped through one...
Is it just me or I find these tests satisfying to watch?
You could just see that dudes blade cut everything like butter.
It will keelllll....
I like to watch forged in fire love this serial and we are clear about the blades and cuts, keel, and sharpness thanks for doing. Love you're all team work ❤️🔥💋
One of the few episodes that I wasn't immediately thinking "I hope this guy wins". Great episode.
Now i wonder who's the better martial artist. Doug or Dave?
God Bless the runner up.
Theres no way this isnt somehow offensive, but if Justin does lose his arm he could get a sweet metal replacement that could like...handle the hot steel when forging...thatd be cool right...
Trust me...I’ve already been thinking on how to make something that would still allow me to forge! No offense taken at all!
I personally wish that Justin won just due to what he is going through and the design of the blade however this was a very close fight
In the next series can you spend more time showcasing their work so we can see the details in both blades?
Did my guy really say “fishes” 😂😂
