If you're getting hammered by trolls, it just means you're becoming popular. or you are making sense. The internet is the dumpster of humanity, you want to have a conversation that would never happen if the guy was standing in front of you...go on the internet.

“No consequences” is the foundation of bad behavior online. Anonymity allows people to say stupid 💩 and talk out of their 🫏 and nothing bad happens. In fact, most trolls love it when someone attempts to correct them.

Outstanding analysis. I was in a gun shop and this guy was going elk hunting and wanted to use an AR15 5.56. I suggested this was not sufficient. He looked at me as if I was insane. He said well I have "30 shots." I tried to explain that they won't stand there and allow you to shoot them 30 times. He wanted to argue that point. Finally, I told him that small of a rifle caliber was illegal ( it was) for hunting Elk where he was going. He had been telling his friend who was with him all about elk hunting and his choice (AR15 5.56) and could not help interjecting after he was asking the shop owner about it. Oh, he didn't believe that man either who was also an experienced hunter. But they are out there and try to influence other idiots as well. This was perfectly explained, and I've seen it on a lot of hunting channels. I watch interjecting the hunting of lion or elephant as an example should be banned. Have no concept of conservation and fees going to anti poaching efforts. That is a troll, too. If the content bothers you, don't watch.

Well said! Sadly the person trying to actually learn something of value is most victimized by these type of people. Their lack of experience doesn’t not allow them to decipher the lies or errors from what is real. Only time and experience in actually doing the said activity can give you that.
The overwhelming nastiness of many who comment on forums have ruined the educational experience for many people. To many experts fighting over who is THE EXPERT, to the point that the entire subject at hand is lost altogether.
Truly knowledgeable folks must reason that I do this like this and it works very well. However, another does it this way and that works excellent also.
Tearing apart everyone for not doing it the way you do is not in the benefit of anyone because you cannot approach teaching without approaching learning. Good teachers also learn!

I have to tell the truth…I don’t know everything. I’m still learning & growing as a human being as I go. I’m not an expert at everything but at least I want to try to learn & understand as much as I can. I take great pride as a mature adult to admit that I can be wrong when I am, admit I don’t know enough/anything about the subject matter & accept that fact with a grain of salt, even if it wounds my pride a little. knowing to feel defeated when proven wrong, but still take it as a life lesson to learn from & soldier on is a testament of how far I’ve come. One of my mottos is “learn on the job” since gaining experience may be scary at first, but putting in effort to earn that experience gives me great satisfaction every time, knowing at least I tried. I honestly wasn’t expecting this video to pop up on this channel, but somehow watching this little gem officially made my day. Desert Dog, thank you for being there for us when the demand for great gentlemen like you has never been more needed. Long Live Desert Dog.

A buddy and I were talking about this just today whilst discussing reloading fads and why we think they come, they go, and if you pay attention long enough and wait, you’ll see those fads resurface.
Its just supposed experts and trolls that happen to read about something that has faded away, they latch onto it, and keep bringing back to life instead of just letting it die as the snake oil or bad advice it always was.

There is a quick and dirty litmus test to determine if someone is a “real hunter”. Ask them about their interest in fishing. Yup. Try it sometime. This phenomenon was pointed out by Peter H Capstick. He wrote that he never met a “real hunter” that was not also a fisherman.

What type is a real hunter? Several answer possible. The best Hunter's ( shooting many creatures) are sometimes pathologic People. A real Hunter for me respect's the Rules, respect the animals hunted, know and learnt how to hunt specific, has hunting ethics, has a bag limit, to name some points of many. I know some "real" Hunters (Europe), who are not fishing. I am fishing as long as I Hunt. But I think it's not the one and only criterion. In Europe a "real" hunter has a hunting dog to search wounded animals . Some huntingtypes are not allowed without hunting dogs.

Good video. There is one thing you failed to mention and I don't know why so many gun experts think they have to do it. I have stopped watching quite a few channels because of this. It seems that once they grow a respectable audience, they can't help themselves and have to talk about, or mention, or slide in some comments about religion or politics or the pandemic. They have grown their channel to a good size because some viewers think they have some knowledge about guns and ammunition, hunting or shooting. Why do they think anyone would even care about what they say on these subjects? I could maybe forgive some 2A discussions, but the rest of it no thank you. I have worked as a Forensic Firearms Identification Specialist since 1984 and do not consider myself a firearms expert yet. What I have learned through the years is what I can and can't say on the witness stand. It isn't always easy when lawyers want to ask you all kinds of questions or hypothetical questions when your entire testimony is based on physical evidence that you examined. Nothing else. Despite what many people think, our job is simply to interpret the physical evidence for juries in order to help them get to the truth in criminal trials. Do I think we are perfect all the time? Certainly not. But I hope you can understand that we err on the side of caution. Better to let a guilty person go free than to convict an innocent one. Not always easy when you work for law enforcement agencies.

Good information. I remember that Paul Harrell video. He was probably my first favorite gun content creator on UA-cam. Very sad about his health theses days. (I still find his videos a valuable source of info.) I do sometimes have a hard time spotting fake experts, but I do start to get a little suspicious when I see people stating stuff as fact without backing it up with evidence and it seems to be contrary to what I've experienced with my own guns in the field.

Oh DD, how you are so right on this one. I really don’t consider anyone an expert, even myself, I prefer to remain humble and just offer the knowledge and wisdom I have gained by my labors. I suppose some think me an expert but like everyone I have my flaws. Seems, when it comes to gun content creators in UA-cam there are more idiots than experts. We all have our flaws and we all make mistakes and admitting to those mistakes is more valuable than dwelling in hubris and ignorance…they go hand in hand.

Just because someone has credentials does not make him smart. Ron Spomer asked the question if one grain of powder made any difference in reloading accuracy. I said it did, in fact when I was shooting high power, 1/10 of a grain made the difference between placing in the match and just being a target puller for the winners. Some “Expert” who said he worked for Federal for 30 years refuted my argument. I told him to go yell at my targets- the data is the data. Ron stepped in and said I was right. Experts only want to believe experts. Here’s their thinking,” You’re not a marine architect? Then you can’t possibly know if the Titanic actually sunk because you’re not qualified to make that conclusion”.

I read a book a few years ago talking about how people become experts or become famous at sports or music. I wish I could remember the name of it. But a lot of what it was saying was to be considered an expert at something usually takes 10,000 hrs of practice. I know when I finished my tool and die apprenticeship I had to have 10,000 shop hours to graduate. That is 8 hrs a day for 4 years not counting the school hours. And I definitely didn't know everything about tool and die or machining. So I guess I'm pointing out what I read about 10,000 hrs to become an expert at something was their definition.

Very good video, I've found out first hand not to respond to these type of people regarding their stupid comments, they'll never back down and quickly start throwing insults at you.
For example, In most videos about a day / night digital scope or the like, you'll find them harping on how it's not "real night vision" etc.
I'll respond, maybe not but it gets the job done very well for the intended purpose, did you not see all the foxes being shot in the video?????
They'll ignore that question and come back with a lot of insulting 💩 how we'd be much better off with a military grade tubed night vision ......
    And it goes on.....
What do I regard myself as?......a keen viewer of quality content, a keen shooter who has a certain amount of experience and knowledge but is always keen to learn new things or different/ better ways of doing things. That's what I look for in UA-cam most of the time.
    There's a reason I'm subscribed to this channel! 👍👍

Ihave looked at your channel and several others like it.
    Found many tips and experiences.
I rarely comment on something unless I have tested the product myself.
Then we are all different, what may work well for you may not meet the requirements and expectations of others.
The absolute worst I know is rust and things that stick together.
Fix rust welding on cars due to rust I have done a lot.
I have since trained in the area of material learning in both the steel and plastic industry.
Stainless steel is not available, it is to be deceived a little.
Rust resistant steel it should be called because it is what it is.
Rust resistant due to added substances from basic steel and carbon steel.
I fish and hunt myself and want to keep my things in good condition.
Then, of course, it should make it as simple as possible.
Remove dirt, burnt gunpowder, copper and more in as little time as possible.
Then I also get job satisfaction when the job is finished and there has been a good result.
Then I'm very picky and meticulous too.
Many friends ask me about cars and about gun maintenance and want me to teach them how to take care of their weapons and things in the best possible way.
That's why you follow several channels here, get tips and try them out.
The debate about gun grease should probably be avoided.
Many write on forums buy the cheapest grease there or there in that car shop.
It's wrong, a normal simple lithium grease on mineral oil can solidify and become tough. React to other chemicals.
So the person who listens to buy the cheapest grease might have a bad experience and think it's crap and worthless after that no matter what anyone else says.
A good synthetic grease in Lithium complex or Calcium Complex can be used in certain places on a weapon where oil gives a worse job and does not protect as well as a grease, for example on small springs or the heels on the bolthead.
It's good that you bring up this topic in your channel actually.
Then I don't always get hold of all the things you use here in Sweden.
The shipping will be several hundred dollars plus customs duty tax and more.

@@desertdogoutdoors1113 Yeah, it's looking to be a really good thing, showing us we may not be as good as many of us think we are. Even Erik Cortina's challenge i think is helping. So, i believe the challenges are actually do some real good. But even the "Marine" wasn't very humble after wards. Jim was very kind to him.
It might be best if you didn't do it, giving the dumbasses an over confidence, saying they would be more like you, then the others who have done poorly.
Interesting to watch for sure. I'm glad to see this. I think this may change the tune of SOME hunters for the better. I know it has me.
Also, the group sizing videos that Hornady is done lately has also helped, in that at the end of one of the videos, Miles remarked that if you do what they are suggesting, you will learn you don't actually have a 1/4 minute gun and that you should stop taking 700 yard shots.
That comment was gold! And I really appreciated him saying that.
But you know in all honesty your content has really helped me. I thought I knew more then I actually did.
I suck at reading wind so I know I need to keep it under 300 yrds on windy days. And even less on real windy days. And that on non windy days, if I have the time to set up, I can go further out.
Thanks again for your videos, they help.

I have an opinion that many dont share. That the World's best functional gun dogs are riding around Central SD in the back of the rancher's truck. Ive seen so many times, very expensive and highly trained dogs brought in from out of State simply melt down when they see a thousand bird flush for the first time. Some guys, most guys, get very frustrated/embarrassed to see a ranch dog outperform their very pedigreed dogs. It goes to what you said, an expert can train a pedigreed dog to a very high level, yet his dog gets owned by one the rancher bought at the bar for a couple hundred bucks. The former's dog is still a great dog. The rancher's dog wont win any trials, but he's seen the chaos that goes with a dozen dogs in the field, when hundreds of birds are flying, and twenty guys are banging away and remains calm and has the time of his life showing off for all to see.
