this video showed up on my recommend this morning so i got together two friends and officiated a match of anarchy chess between them. without them knowing anything about the game they:
- summoned their dnd characters
- sent one of the characters and a bishop to space
- got a knight high on edibles (first turn)
- made all their pawns feminists (meaning both the king and queen of either side had to die in order for anyone to win)
- made the queens fall in love and go on a date
- gave the queens syphilis
- made the high horse cure both the queens of their syphilis
- threw a sandwich on the board
This is amazing and now I want to try too
Fun fact I took the time to read some of that fan fiction. One of the comments was a guess by one of the knights. Specifically the black knight that the cards that white had were nuclear launch codes. They were nuclear launch codes because if you remember in the video it mentioned that when the death laser was going to go off they flipped over one of the cards to see how long until the death laser went off so yes Black Knight they did indeed have nuclear launch codes

Anarchy doesn't mean no rules, it means no rulers, noone to dictate the rules.
But making up rules and mutual agreements collectively *is* anarchic. And I think anarchy chess is a great example of this. No matter how wacky a game is, there still are implicit or explicit rules that make sense in some way, even something as vague and subjective as "do what's funniest".
Idea: Actual anarchy chess would be similar to this with the same lack of rules at the start except there are no kings or queens and the game ends when a monarch (or any other ruler) is crowned and enough pieces follow orders for the monarch to control a significant part of the pieces. The goal of the anarchists would be to set up rules and guidelines to improve the game so much that almost nobody wants to end it, so when inevitably someone tries to become the monarch the community defends itself and disarms the monarch.

2: Some people can just make it work, everyone's different.
3: For every one successful project, there are thousands of unsuccessful ones that don't even make the light of day.
4: At the end of the day, working on a side project is a choice that has pros and cons. Some people prefer to hang out. Some people watch youtube or TV to decompress.
5: A lot of people are just too busy, and you know what, that's ok. Some people work multiple jobs and/or school (I do both actually). Some people have kids. Everyone has a different lot in life. Soon, I'll have weekends to hang out more with friends once the semester starts. But right now, I have to work Saturdays, and I have something due for my other job on Sunday. That's just life.
If you want a side project, then take a look at all of the actions you're doing right now and see how you can make time for a side project.

In an end that is somehow both very ironic, and deeply fitting, the last move of the game was of Surlocc.
You could untranslated the imaginary number to the polar domain which would allow you to set up a coordinate system where you can place the piece. Therefore e(pi-pi*i) would be playable
And then everything that's real will be a long line of chess pieces and batteries

So this is not super clear with how I worded/said it, but the e isn't euler's number, it's the e file in chess notation. So instead of a piece moving to e2, it was moving to e pi-pi*i.
