Excellent interview! Wealth of knowledge between them. Butch gave out too many old school tricks/secrets....mushroom anchors turning electronics off. Butch if you see this when are you going to write a book? Looking forward whenever you decide to release your next model of swimbait. Lastly....to the baitmakers anatomically correct Carp or Talapia! I know of a few lakes here in Texas where either would work really well. 👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼🇺🇸
look at "In Pursuit of Giant Bass" by Bill Murphy. excellent SoCal big fish guy, lot's of knowledge developed in the 80s and 90s when guys had legit shots at world records at Castaic
Definitely the best podcast on Spotify. Nick's the best host ever born. His tactical conversation skills are surpassed by no one. I wish I knew him growing up, I'd be such a better man, not this pile of human shit I am now. Can't wait for the next one!
You want to know how to have a great work day from home? Put on Ep 163 and not work! haha. Loved this episode. They touched on so many damn cool topics, like sonar (I thought I was the only one that just loved my Fortrex, I don't want spot lock, it's way too noisy), boat flipping and particularly enjoyed the the discussion about conventional knowledge leading into the swimbait world. Great podcast, helluva job Nick!
u know when fumio talked about the bacteria growth. I always said that the way that the tournament anglers grab the smallmouth up north. When they literally grab them like footballs and literally rub all there slime coat off and they act like that doesn't effect the fish but. What can u do when they don't allow nets or anything like that for those tournaments.
Anybody wanna be critical? Butch, on Bass tour anglers podcast, says that he's caught around 400 10+lbers on baits other than swimbaits. He says he caught 24 10lbers or something like that on a rapala crankbait when it first came out. In no way am I saying Butch isn't the best ever--but come on--he's fishing in waters that are stacked. He says in maybe the same podcast that of his 100 plus double digits that he caught in one year, only a few were caught twice. For argument's sake, let's say that he can in fact verify that--you're telling me that there are over a 100 double digit bass in that lake (lower Castaic, I think). And there's actually more (not to draw this out) but a certain percentage of big bass don't even bite lures and another percentage don't bite twice. My gawd, there aren't 100 double digits in LA, MS, and Arkansas. My point is perhaps a five pounder here is a ten pounder there. And if you fish once a week vs Butch's five times a week or whatever, then the percentages look better. Is Butch a wilt chamberlain, a man in a unique time and place? Put him in New Jersey and he's more like a David Robinson--lol.
the reason you don't have any biters on this in 10 months is cause you are so wrong about most of this. nobody is more skeptical than SoCal anglers and there isn't a single bass fisherman around here that thinks Butch isn't doing what he says. he's a low key guy, not trying to be some swimbait legend. he just knows what he's doing and that's hard to accept.
@@swimschool4195 what am I wrong about? I didn’t say butch didn’t do what he says he’s done. You didn’t read, you skimmed. My point was that butch fished in a loaded lake and he was good. But many new swimbaiters forget the first part. That was the wilt comparison: wilt was a giant and he was good.
@@Richard-mj5dp well, this "loaded lake" is 2 minutes from a major freeway and located in a town with 4 million people so there should be plenty of other guys doing Butch shit but there isn't. cruise out and bag some tens though.
Arrogant??? It's more like confidence the hours he has put in searching for bass that most people will never catch in a life time nor see is not arrogance. If you watched the cast and crank podcast with just him you will see he is actually pretty humble. For him to explain how he catches giant bass and wants others to catch them as well doesnt show arrogance. Your blind dude
I feel lucky to have a chance to hear Butch sharing like this and how he and Fumio met’s a cool story.
I have been waiting for this since the last butch brown podcast
I was just thinking the same thing
First 22 minutes is gold. Back to work! Great content!!
I really enjoy those deep talk. Much better than watching those "fish catching videos" or a movie. Thanks for that!!
Butch is just the most humble and knowledgeable person! Hope to meet him one day #Legend #Da🐐

Japan kills alot of bass and they have the biggest bass 🤔🤔🗣🗣🧠🧠
Unless your a angler, the Japanese as a whole consider Bass a trash fish
Hence why they have huge bass... no stunted 8 year old 3 lbers
