    Just want to say thanks for this video, I have a Mazda 6 that gave me the no oil pressure warning, turned out to be a snapped oil pump chain. I had given up on the car over a year because I didn't know how to fix it and it wasn't worth paying for it to be fixed. I did everything you did in this video and started the car back up again today, over the moon I've got my car back 👍

    I have a snapped oil pump chain, top-of-the-range Sportnav 175 bhp mazda 6 2016 skyactiv D. Engine turns over but wont start ( I'm a bit worried that your example did start). Local garage can't fix, Bristol Street Motors can't fix and Mazda want £2000+ just for the chain replacement, but also quoted £8500 in case of any other damage found. The car's worth ~ £7000 if running (100K miles). I have to fix it myself as I can't afford to gamble £2000+. You've actually done what I thought of doing as a solution but didn't know whether it would work... you've proved it could so thanks for that...I'm so glad I subscribe to your channel! I bought a 2012 basic Hyundai i10 as a replacement car while I sort this mazda out. I actually prefer the Hyundai as reliability absolutely trumps leather seats, great performance, bose sound and all bells and whistles. I hate this Mazda and if I can repair it I'll dispose of it asap. I wouldn't sell to a private individual as my conscience wouldn't allow that, but to a large company that would guarantee it for the next owner. I've had so much trouble with this car, I'd never buy another f'ing Mazda.Ever.

      @@morushdi8076 Hi, I haven't had time to fix it yet. I hope to do it over Christmas. It took sometime to get hold of a genuine Mazda chain. Had to buy with sprockets and guide (which I need as plastic skate also broken) cost £250 new off ebay Mazda dealer. It doesn't seem as thick as the original but it's the same as Peter uses so looks genuine. To be honest, the chain looks just the same as the copies you can get off ebay for £70! I'll update when I've fitted and let you know the result.

      @@morushdi8076 this is very much a permanent fix & a perfect solution once it hasn’t broken any timing chain guides or the tensioner. Far faster & in my opinion better than swooping out the engine for another that might not be far away from failing too😬👍👍

    Oh my goodness Peter..this is dejavu‼️ Had 151 maybe a little more kms with a pump chain broke. Your customer was, I would consider VERY lucky..the engine still turned..the unit I had completely seized..no movement whatsoever. I had to replace all bearings and slight damage to crank but it was only surface in that material from the bearings were seized onto the crank, if that makes sense. Using fine wet/dry and elbow grease it polished up perfectly and all measurements checked out within spec for STD bearings to go back in. I don’t remember having different colours of bearings as I thought the little tabs defined which went where but I stand corrected. I ended up doing timing chain and all sprockets in a replacement kit. The one thing I noted was that the old chains would not fit on the new sprockets and I believe this was a fix introduced in later models because of this very issue. Perhaps the sprocket design caused slight and gradual wear to the chains. A great video Peter and loved you splitting of the chain idea. I did a complete engine strip down and rebuild…piston rings too..they were filthy with carbon buildup underneath.

    Hi,do you think the oil pump chain breaks dew to high oil pressure?Can you do an oil pressure check on these engines to check if it's in spec please?It can be done with a scan tool.

      I have done lots of these and never found anything other than just the chain to fail 🤷🏼‍♂️
      I believe it is just wear due to the oil pump timing chain being so small a rotating so many times, cross reference to the main/ large timing chain 🤔🤔

    What socket type are the rod bearing cap screws and does the torque setting/procedure needs to be followed to the letter?

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  Рік тому +2

      You will need a ‘Torx’ socket, size 12 I believe from memory.

      2. 90Nm + or - 10 degrees
