Great video, I hope you manage to come back one day and cover the city centre shopping area as it's rather large and has some amazing buildings old and new 😊
Leeds lad here: you did a great job showing the city. Next time you visit you should try the blue sakura. Best Japanese restaurant about. Thanks for showing the city I hold closest to my heart 🤍
Thanks for making and posting this, that showed some of the great city of Leeds very well. Shame you didn't have more time on the river front, and head the other way, as Leeds Dock is a really good destination and includes the national Royal Armouries.
First video of yours I’ve seen mate and cracking video. I’m from Leeds and feel you showed it off really well. Keep up the good work lad. New subscriber 👍🏻
I love Leeds to bits! I used to live right at 17 Park Row in 2019-20, after moving up there from Kensington in London (right off Barons Court). I would jog down Park Row, down Boar Lane, Bowman Lane, then jog along River Aire, then loop back and grab a coffee from North Star Coffee Shop. Ahh, the memories. Then Covid happened loll
It's a weird feeling being naive of the place you have never been to before. But, fair play to you for the travel vlogs. The 1st time I visited Bristol, I was really lost. But I do now know after several visits how to get to my hotel just over Bristol Bridge from the Coach Station. Took me around 2 hours first time. I was born & bred in Leeds so it was interesting to see your perspective. You managed to miss out the shopping centre thank goodness.
You certainly got around in Leeds! Yes Altus House is the tallest building. I liked the weird sculpture! Apparently it's called "Off Kilter" and was designed by Richard Wilson. I wonder if it lights up at night time? It's surprising that the city doesn't have a Metro system. Perhaps it will one day. It was interesting about the Green Man! The artwork is by a local artist, Melody Sutherland. I like National Express and find them very reliable and reasonably priced. The only problem for me is that I have to go to Brighton now to pick up the coach. They no longer come to my town.
If you went to Liverpool. That river is literally Leeds Liverpool canal. You missed the two channel 4 buildings as well if you like broadcasting stations. Or also, ITV filming studios is just outside the city where they film a lot of Emmerdale and a ton of those drama series you see. They also filmed heartbeat and a touch of frost there many years ago.
@Arthur_UK You got close to Leeds' Flat Iron building (Bridge House), it was just beyond that modern bridge you didn't quite get to. Leeds' Flat iron building predates the one in NYC (1881 vs 1902).
The Hampton by Hilton Hotel you stayed is a former British Gas building and was empty for years it got stripped back and refurbed. As for Mass transit in Leeds that is an epic discussion which has been going on for as long as I can remember. When I moved to Leeds over 20 years ago the plans were in for a "Super Tram System" that eventually got cancelled. Following that there was plans for a Trolley Bus systems which also then got cancelled. In the last year or so they are looking into another plan for Mass Transit.
I'm going to have to re-view this because although you certainly walked around Leeds you didn't touch the commercial centre with the shops, restaurants and arcades. It's like showing someone your house by only going to the shed and garden. Good presentation etc but that wasn't really Leeds at all. Just the northern outskirts.
Ok, I did go to Leeds and I did see everything that I could. I’m assuming you’re new to the channel because I have mentioned many times why I do things like this. Thanks.
The first ever moving picture was taken on that bridge I forget the details but it is easy to find on youtube just some people and horses and carts crossing it though some say it was in Roundhay Park a few miles away both by the same Person some people dancing both only a few seconds long but this is were it all started.
Leeds Cathedral is Roman Catholic. Leeds Minster is Church of England. Two impressive buildings about a mile apart at opposite sides of the city centre.
Great video as always Arthur! Leeds almost did have a metro back in 2004 but the costs spiraled out of control so it had to be scrapped. And dont blame yourself for talking about your hotel too much- a view like that is any transport-lovers dream! Luckily, there is a few more dotted around the UK (the best is probably the Park Plaza hotel in London- it overlooks Waterloo station) And how did the travel adventure video go I saw that it may have been a bit of a fail?
Appreciate the info! The travel adventure went wrong in many ways so I’d be here all day typing it all!! If you pop into live stream tomorrow just let me know you’re there in the chat and I’ll explain a little bit.
1:25 leeds skyline as pretty as it is, is very confusing to look at sometimes because leeds city centre is built on a hill so the tallest buildings look smaller than they are and some look bigger than they are, for instance that glass building at 1:16 looks way bigger in my opinion even though it isnt 😂 keep up the vids mate.
It’s great to Yorkshire I been go there from last year it’s beautiful place and cleared out old historic buildings and riverside as well good positive nice see you on video 😊❤
To explain a bit about why there are so many modern buildings among the old buildings, interest rates were in decline since 1981. All stages of production operate on letters of credit from banks, like banker's cheques, so everything works on credit, borrowed money. There was a building boom for about 25 years when the cost of borrowing became cheaper and cheaper. In the last 3 years, however, the cost of capital (ie. mortgage rates) just about doubled very quickly, so the building boom will be over soon, if not already, not just in the UK, but in cities all over the world. Look at China. In the United States, most older buildings get demolished to make way for new buildings. This is also true in the UK, but to a lesser extent. It is good to preserve your history. The UK has many old cities that even go back to Roman times, whereas the United States has relatively new cities with more modern buildings. I hope this helps. Thank you for your videos.
We have similar in huddersfield, not far from Leeds with the traffic lights. At major junctions, when traffic is red, the green man for pedestians is automatically on. No sensors. just timing.
Leeds is much nicer than Manchester. It’s one of the best UK Cities with good architecture. Good video. Leeds is expanding massively on the south bank- this will extend new buildings into the areas of Holbeck etc. Leeds is supposedly getting a massive mass transit system, linking it to both Bradford and Wakefield as well. Also it will supposedly go to the airport. You didn’t show all the nice shopping areas, arcades, Royal Armouries, worth visiting all those.
You are right about those new ‘brick’ buildings. They have a fake brick facade. Leeds as well as Liverpool are beautiful cities and dare I say better than Manchester. Saying that as a manc haha. Great vid again Arthur. 👍
Yes, that was a nice modern hotel, gym but no pool, bring binoculars for high views, hotel Buffet breakfasts are the best bit, I sub to some of the UA-cam channels that stay over and review a hotel, including a prison hotel, a lighthouse and Wetherspoons hotels.

What are you exactly supposed to be showing people, your hotel and nameless streets minus any useful information? A luttle research on your visits to these places could help.

Just to be accurate the city of Manchester is smaller than the cities of Leeds and Liverpool and probably one or two others, greater Manchester is not a city it’s made up of a group of small towns with no civic pride why else would they want to be part of Manchester
Other Leeds live music venues include the O2 Academy, Brudenell Social Club (probably one of the best music venues in the country, no lie, I've done no research) and Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen. There's Leeds City Varieties for comedy and drama, and at 0:45 you're just walking past Verve which does a regular Tuesday night open mic comedy night which can be a great cheap night out.
