  • Quick comparison test between Analog Heat and Sherman Filterbank v2.
Elektron Analog Rytm output connected straight into Analog Heat, and AR headphones out straight into Sherman.
No post processing, each comparison is normalised to match levels, and in mono because Sherman is mono.

Both sound great to me, but for sure the Filterbank has something special about. It makes great sound greater :P

Great video! It shows the sonical intersection of the two amazing gears. But I guess both can do things the other can't. Personally I prefer the Analog Heat as it seems to me the more versatile one. Just wish it would have the many knobs of a Sherman for a more immediate and direct control.

Very tasteful use of the Sherman Filterbank, but I don't think your Analog Heat settings showed off its potential very well. I definitely appreciate you taking the time to make and post this video though, and it was a good reminder of how much I love the Filterbank.

I think if the Drive knob was set a tad bit lower, the amount of clipping would have been more similar between the two devices. Thank you for the nice video.

Extreme settings on the Analog Heat don't really give a full accounting for its overall possibilities..

I have a Filterbank 2, do you think getting a Analog heat would be too redundant? I use these effects as outboards effect to give some analog texture from my daw

Great clip! Do you use a hardware usb-to-din-midi converter for the nanokontrol? If so, what is your solution?

in this clip all the heat sound is too distorted, sherman sounds cleaner..

  • @verstaerker

i don't get this comparison .. you try to make them sound similar. But both machines are very different. The Sherman can go a lot wilder than the Heat and still sound nice, while the Heat can sound more controlled an d subtle. Both are are great but for different things

I get the comparison, out of the devices available on the market at the moment the Heat most seems to provide a similar array of options to the Filterbank.

    Liked FB2 sound more
Overall AH doesn't seem to be "worth it" IMO.
Also, they should've put those filters on Octatrack 2 (or Decatrack for that matter).

Sounds good but no offense, the clipping audio is annoying on my end. I get the filterbank can go above and beyond useful audio range, trim the video audio next time, please.

Interesting... I think same result could be achieved when u mess around with both of them!! I will say I would love to the black analog HG-2 or Thermonic Culture Vulture stacked up against the AH esp when you consider the price difference

From that I prefer the SFB. Its hard to tell without having hands on & mirroring parameters as best as possible.
Heat sounds more cluttered in the low mids. Almost BRR, but tho it's analog.
    SFB has more air.
Obviously the big plus with the Elektron is stereo capability.

True there is the OB side of things. TBH, I've given up on that these days, it doesn't really deliver, for me anyway. Don't want to derail, but suffice it to say, the OB issues are well & truly documented on Elektronauts.

    • @dxtrs_mnpltr

BlueWolfSe7en its just added functionality to which i wouldn't say no to. Not the most important aspect of the unit but still useful in certain situations

On the FB2 there are 2 outputs, so you can get panning if on separate channels.

I appreciate the comparison but both units are clipping out of control. It would be nice if we turned down the input volume and didn’t fully overdrive so we could hear their individual sonic nuances. But I do appreciate the video. Thanks!
