It was a absolute honour working with Randy bringing his design of his Damn Cowboy survival knife to life.
Something I learnt that nobody knows is the secret to how he sharpens all his blades. Randy actually uses the ends of his moustache to get them razor sharp. His silver whiskers are stronger and lighter that spider-mans webs and harder than diamonds. Rumour has it DARPA have been trying to steal a strand so they can replicate it and use as next generation tank and body armour.

I personally really appreciate as a civilian having someone like yourself Carl and all the people on your show to share your knowledge with us. This is stuff that was not around 10 or 15 years ago. If you didn't serve you simply didn't have access to the knowledge. You guys are doing a huge service to the average Joe like me. Knowing enough to get the job done. Learning from the best. Thank you.

@@brianoswald1067 Back in the day I was so proud I got a Randall knife , so I thought I was the baddest monkey in the jungle . When one of my trainers ask to see it and of course I handed it to him and he said , you really like this knife , to which I replied you bet . He then surprised me by saying get a different one and leave this behind . Curiously I asked why , and he replied because if you drop it you will get killed going back for it . He then pulled out his KaBar and stated , good knife , does the job and it's cheap . Lose it , get another , it's just a tool and for Gods sake never give it a name . Lesson learned .

I love the RATS tourniquet because it is a tourniquet I can carry everywhere, everyday. I have been in a situation where I needed a tourniquet and my CAT TQ was in my first aid kit in my car. Fortunately there was a trauma RN handy and the patient survived, however I learned that if the lifesaving device is not on your person, it may as well be on the moon.
When i started carrying the RATS TQ I was working security in a hospital emergency room. I got with our trauma surgeon who had plenty of experience in with the Army in Iraq and other medical staff. We tested the RATS using a pulse doplar machine. What we found was the RATS can indeed occlude a femoral artery, but it must be wrapped with continued tension, if the person applying the TQ allows it to retract even a little while applying it the tourniquet does not work. So unlike a CAT or other TQ where you just tighten until the blood stops, you can actually fuck up while applying a RATS TQ. Understanding that shortcoming is in my opinion very important if you are going to carry an RATS.
That said I carry a RATS in my pocket of my normal pants wrapped in a bandana wherever I go. I cannot do that with a CAT, though I have CAT TQ's stashed in various places (house, vehicles, body armor, etc. the RATS is always on my person.

the Hyfin dressing actually accomplishes two very important things after application- it prevents additional air from entering the thorax and it also allows for any air that has entered between the lung in the chest wall to be vented. This out not in decreases the chance of a tension pneumothorax. Evacuation of expanding intrathoracic air from high altitude flights are also a consideration and that is a tertiary and highly beneficial design.

So, what is the total weight of that belt setup? Seems heavy for everyday use. If I'm dropped into the middle of nowhere, I get it. But for simple civilian urban requirements, i.e. riots, unrest, Canadian invasion (lol), it may be a bit much. But, love the review and actually made some changes to my belt. Moved the dump pouch to off hand (duh) for dumping mags. Also added sixteen knives and 40 tourniquets. ;)

@@TacticalRifleman What I have on my Cobra belt is 4 5.56 coupler mags with the Safariland connections that I got from Rogers Shooting School back in the day. 4 17 rounds .45 ACP, one bayonet mount and a strap from T Rex Arms. 2 water G.I. water canteens. One large dump pouch with a medical kit. It's heavy, but wearing it with the black Tactical LC2 ALICE Belt suspenders shoulder harness. I changed out the old connections and replaced it with HK Snap hooks with black out and white markings in. I had those U.S. G.I. military Alice clips belt keepers, four on my Cobra belt and I hooked my HK Snap hooks to the clips. Works great, with a full load, it's light as a feather. Can run and gun with it. Can carry it all day too. Just letting you know.

I want one too, looks like they are in the $800.00ish range. Maybe for X-Mas.

Excellent information, where do you pickup the marking lights? Secondly what is the approximate weight of your setup? I am not a spring chicken. Thank you

I almost need to hit the "dislike" button, because I don't carry nearly the amount of knives as Randy, and I'm jealous!
Randy wears a knife belt with some ammo and a med kit! Great video as always SGM!!!

I personally need to figure out how to run my belt with 6 AR mags, plus 2 pistol mags and everything else needed, because I am poor for one, and kinda chunky and I cannot afford a quality vest, chest rig, or body armor, unless I go with foreign made knockoff. even then it will be hard to come up with the cost. all I have is my tactical/battle belt that I can grab and go in case SHTF. if you have any ideas I would appreciate it.

I remember when they gave us those rigger knives. Had a big box of those things. Cheap piece of crap! No one wanted one. I think they were thrown in the dumpster. Carried a Air Force survival knife that we duct taped to our LBE. On jumps easy to get to and razor sharp! Now those rigger knives are expensive!
