I have a dozen or so 5 gallon buckets from various house remodels that originally contained paint or drywall joint compound. I've been using some for storing items, a couple as garbage cans, and others simply sit out in my backyard to collect rainwater for watering plants. This video shows some new interesting uses to me!
One I didn't see I used to use, the buckets make a fast pickup and feed-out device for extension cords "no tangle" cord holder, If I remember correctly it will hold about 100' of 16-3 gauge cord, and you can feed it into the bucket as your pulling in no particular pattern and just pull it out when you need it. I discovered it 50 years ago when I was an electrical contractor, coupled with your pipe-cutting configuration it would be great for contractors!
When our rural mailbox was taken out by the town plow the 2nd time in a month I used a 5 gallon bucket, sacrete concrete mix & a 4" x4" post to put the mailbox on. The plow would push it over & all I had to do was lift it back up & get it into place.
I've also used a bunch of them in the back of my PT Cruiser with the rear seats removed to get crusher run gravel for my driveway. $$ savings for sure.
Stop by a job site. Ask the drywall crew for empty buckets. Check the dumpster(ask first if there are workers around). Painters on large projects use paint by the bucket full.
Use two buckets to make campfire bench. Breaks down and transports easily. 7 gal buckets best. Pin through board & bucket bottom. I get them from the local swimming pool.
Sometimes there’s some at job sites but most of them you gotta clean if it’s paint then you could just peel it if or let it dry if it’s still has some but if it has dry wall mix then u gotta get all of that out it’s a mess
In my Country the Street Venders use the with a pipe in the bottom area of the bucket for washing of hands as required by food handlers law. Great job on the bucket projects. Thanks for sharing... xoxoxo...
Last Job site (commercial) I was on, I snagged 40-50 one PM. Painters had them stacked up by the roll-offs in case anyone wanted them. I bet 100+ went to the landfill the next day. But... Before anyone goes & dives into the dumpsters on const sites, stop by, later is better, in the day and ask the Job Super if you can get any. Don't just help yourself, you'll end up being hauled off in cuffs I'd you do. Just common sense & the right thing to do. Paint & sheet rock mud comes in the buckets, just separate them & let what ever dry. Then you can peel or scrape them out. You can wash them out, but I don't like paint or S R mud in my yard or going into the ground water.
I used a 5 gallon bucket and a gamma lid for a diaper pail. My older special needs kids (still in diapers) kept destroying any commercial diaper pails I bought! So I had to think of a cheap diaper pail that was hard to destroy. It works!
I definitely would not do the ant 🐜 thing! That will also bring maggots and flies like crazy I collect them from the bakery and I just pour hot water in them and a bit of soap and then the next day poured out into the grass comes off fairly easy it will clog your sinks up though so it's best to clean them out in the yard . Great video
I use mine as a kitchen trash can. Then i clean it out and use it as a car wash bucket. Then i turn it over and use it for my kids seat at the coffee table ( if theres no trash in it) lol.
But the drowning shadow baby warning says you shouldn't re-use buckets. I ran out of used buckets and noticed no warning on new empty ones I had to buy empty. Trying to get the logic of re using a plastic bucket=bad but spend $5 for a new one and you can do no wrong. Bucket says so with no warnings about anything. I don't think drinking water belongs in either but do they really need to tell people not to because used ones will always have chemicals from the original contents.
Many restaurants that use pickles will have them. If you ask, they’ll probably be willing to get some for ya. They will use them for themselves for many things but eventually they’ll have more than they want. Just ask but support them also. Pick a place you’d like to eat and ask while your eating.
You have forgotten one get a bucket drill a bunch of holes all over it excluding the top 5 inch dig a hole in the ground burying it leaving the top 2" above ground on the lid put a hole in it to accommodates a length of tubing to use as a fill, put your tomato cage around it and plants four or five tomato plants use the bucket to water your plants and not the weeds make sure you know the amount of time it takes to fill the bucket with your current water pressure so you don't overfill and water the weeds the weeds
They forget garage urinal. Put about 4-5" of used motor oil, atf, gear lube, thicker the better. Then let er rip, best if you don't wait until at the rim to change out. Snap on lid and leave at parts stores, some municipal maintenance dept take used oil. Find a place and leave the bucket, I used to just dump in my giant waste oil tank. Works awesome, as long as nobody missed the bucket no nasty smell no matter how long it sits. If you dump in a bigger tank like I did, have a big funnel that attaches solid to waste tank and pour fast. Some cities take 55g drums of used oil. The one with removable lids work awesome. If it's like the city I live in a tanker truck sucks the oil out and may get you a warning when they get to the pee but will take it anyway because they have to. I make sure the barrel is secured and shake it like crazy on the drive. If you're still reading this rant it's either because it's a useful bit of info or everything about this offends you. Offended?, I'm sure if you were my neighbors letting it fly outside, in the middle of the day would be so much better. If it's useful, just happy to get people to quit drilling holes in the garage wall for a funnel. A funnel that's never angled enough to keep from backing up and hitting your boots. That and the nasty pee spot in the yard your kids play in or the yellow streak down the wall outside because the funnel didn't stick out enough. Lets not even get into the range of height and lack of sobriety is guaranteed to cause some stray shots later to be a terrible odor. Damn I must be bored, 20min rant about odorless piss buckets and the responsible way to get rid of it. If you're still here thanks for sticking with it. When moving once we found one 3/4 full under a bench if that say anything about odorless. It had to be there for at least 2yrs
OJ Simpson Went can't men just use the bathroom like women do....this is disgusting and unsanitary....I can't believe you would even write down what you are doing.....
Oh almost forgot the original problem. Sometimes it's freezing cold and or windy. Then the issue of urinating out in front of the neighbor kids because it's the middle of the day. I don't enjoy the idea of accidentally exposing myself to children. Sometimes like when painting you're sealed in for hours. Every time the door opens the vacuum from the exhaust fans just get dust in everything. The usual 2 reasons are I'm not a filthy animal who wants to track what I'm working on through my house several times a day and I'm busy, too busy to keep cleaning up then having to try getting in and back from the house with my family. Don't worry about me though because I've finally got a building with running water and floor drains. So I'm off the bucket though it served me well through every paint job or transmission rebuild that required a stocked garage fridge and the door locked with music to drown out the people who refused to go away.
You're probably the type who claims peeing in the shower is disgusting and never done it. Everyone has done it, again sorry about the absent toilet seat
whoa - whatta concept. First time i've seen this idea. the oil/atf/lube floats on top of the "liquid" and seals off the smell. *definitely* going to try this on the next camping trip. Thanks Turd!!
Thanks for this video because was about to throw a bunch of these out. After seeing this, will definitely keep and use them!

Other sources are dry wall installers, pickle buckets (fast food), painters, driveway sealer buckets
We made a cat tree using one cut in half and took the bottom off full one. My cats love it.

Really nice tks
I have a 6 gal bucket that I use for a tackel box, a seat while fishing and a port-a-john all at the same fishing hole
I use them to set a mailbox post. I screw it to the bucket use cement dig a hole plum it & top with dirt or stone.
bakeries is a good tip! also professional paint companies. there may be a bit of paint, but usually peals off easy-ish.
Johnmark Hatfield • Ditto! Especially donut shops (Bakeries you’d figure, that use LOTS of frosting)!

maggots come, mainly, from flies. Flies lay eggs in dead animals. Don't see the ant thing as any problem. Flies may come for a snack.

To saved rain water 💦👍🏼 also raises the worm compost!
How do you build #3? How do you get the buckets to stay together to form the dome and do you use the buckets to store stuff in them?
*51:* Cooking pot.
_Yes. You can boil water in a plastic bucket! As long as the bucket has water in it, the plastic will NOT melt!_
How are you heating by a fire?

I think the plastic is also HDPE #2 which is recyclable meaning can be melted down to make other things too.
Im looking for melting that into a sheet but not finding it
I'm gonna confess. I paused #47 for quite some time. Might need to do that. 6:18
How do you cut random shaped holes in buckets?
