When I was a kid in 1972 (and I'm a lot older than dirt) I used to get my Levi's for $5.00 and Levi cords were $4.00! I had every color of cords there were! And there were a lot of colors. I'm a female and Levi didn't make women's jeans then, so we just got boys 501's. Best $4.00 & $5.00 I ever spent. Too bad because now they're nowhere near that price, and yet, the quality actually has stayed the same. My fotd!:-)
for some reason whenever I here the beginning part I always think it's saying "Back to the game" even though I know it's saying "Fact of the day"
except back then 1.50 was worth more than now, but still I wish it were that way now

Wow. The most expensive pair of jeans I have seen were 88 dollars. However, they were some awesome looking jeans but not worth it.
Thats crazy because rite now jeans cost almost 100 dollars for pair.
Actually, jeans would cost the equivalent of $36.59 in todays money, not $1.50. When calculating prices you must always adjust for inflation.
this was during a time period when you could fill your tank for $5 so a very different time period

People didn't wear them as fashion then, though. Until James Dean made them cool in the 1950s, they were only worn for manual labor, e.g. farming or gardening.

1 $ back then wasn't worth 1 $ today. :) It's not about the items being cheap it's about the value of the money.
