I saw Tyson fight live at the Felt Forum, before he became champ. His opponent was a huge white guy named Sammy Schaf - as best as l can spell it. As big a s his opponent was, he stood no chance. Tyson administered such a beating, that the the fight ended, mercifully, before the end of the second round due to the one-sided pummeling Tyson was administering and Sammy’s nose bleeding profusely! If Tyson had been able to retain his previous team - pre Don King, l could not see anyone defeating him, IMHO. Add Robin Givins and her mother to the mix and he couldn’t stand a chance! I’m just happy that with all of his trials and tribulations, he had the wherewithal to rise above it all, go through a type of resurrection and become a devoted family man and a successful and productive individual!

I have to admit to not knowing of "Big Joe" before this video but I'll be buying his book forthwith. There were so many personal insights of Joe and his associates/friends to be gleaned, as well as many life lessons that can serve everyone well. No-one is ever too old to learn and improve in life, no matter what path their life has taken them. Michael conducts his interviews superbly, especially this one, and whilst Joe admitted to having the "gift of the gab", his humility shone through. Both Michael and Joe have had their challenges and ups and downs in life, but it is heartwarming to see their positivity and love of family shine through. Chapeau to both of you guys, inspirational.

My great×5 uncle Michael Corcoran led the first Irish militia in New York. Around the time of the civil war, and I think they made him a general. He also was one of the founding fathers of the fenian brotherhood. New York was rough as hell in the mid to late 1800s. They wanted his head when he refused to have his militia salute the visiting prince of Wales, and the fact he was a confidante of the president was the only thing that saved him. Interesting history.

I've asked Michael that before in a comment. He could talk about the Westies and their involvement with the mob.

WOW. I remember all that happening in Birmingham with Joe Egan. I have to say I never thought I would hear a story about my hometown on your show Michael. It was rough back then for sure. Fair play to Joe Egan, and Thank you Michael for this sit down.

Quite a compliment coming from the "baddest man on the planet" ! The Irish are a specialist breed who don't take kindly to being told what to believe or do or who to follow, that deserves respect totally, I'm brittish and respect how they fought back for their beliefs, love your channel Michael! !! Love from the uk

I’m new to this channel and this episode is one of the best hands down !! Honestly made me tear up lowkey. Other people wouldn’t know what to do walking a day in his Joe’s shoes . True definition of standing up with your chin up and chest out when Life throws everything your way !! My hat goes off to this dude !! Stand up guy , honorable, courageous .
