Killer! How did you "unmute" the kick at the 1:53 mark? I'm exploring different options with my Pulsar now and want to have more instantaneous control...
Hi Rob, at 1:53 drop I’m muting the kick with keysteps mute function. I had a dedicated channel for each voice, in this case the green one on the keystep. I also had the output of the attenuator applied to the pitch modulation pin of the kick. At 2:46 you can see I’m using the amount knob to choke the kick. It’s another quick way to almost mute the kick. You’ll still hear the transient but it’s not going to be as loud. Also, instead of just mute/unmute you’ll hear the pitch of the kick slowly rolling off to lower frequencies and coming back up when reducing the modulation amount.
Just got my pulsar, awesome stuff. Great performance! Do you have some tips on making the kick a bit more 'techno' within the posibilties of the pulsar?
Thanks!! I always end up processing the kick separately on a mixer, adding some eq and drive really helps to make the kick sound right. You can also play around with the levels of the pulse you are sending to the kick trigger pin, this will help with taming the transient levels a bit. Dialing in the pitch and drive knobs is probably the most obvious way to shape the kick. If done right, you should be able to get “techno” sound you are looking for. I did a patch breakdown video for my other jam sesh video, maybe check that out. It will give you some ideas for getting some interesting kick sounds.
@@SonicJunkie check, thats a helpfull reply. I will watch your other content to, great stuff. Im holding on to the small no mixer setup ( fantasy ), but keep getting back to the idea off adding a mixer....
Could you do a small video (even 5-10 min but 5-10 hours is cool too) showing a bit of how you use the clock, get typical techno sounds, and some tips for what works in live performance? I just got pulsar and just starting with music prod/live perf. The sounds from your video resonate with me more than any other video, so knowing just the basics of your flow as a starting point would be huge; drone/glitch/noise/even idm is not where I want to go at the moment. Huge thanks if you could spare a few minutes and years of experience!!
Hey, thanks for tuning in. Glad you enjoyed the video. I’ve never done videos in the format that you’ve asked, but I’m always up for trying something new :) I have thinking about doing more in-depth videos and share here, now that there’s been growing interest from people. Thanks for reaching out and making suggestions. I’ll keep in mind for the next video. Cheers
Hey ! Insane sound ! Beautiful :) Is the Pulsar Bass Drum module the classic one or the new model from 2022 ? Is the stab activated ? Thank you so much :)
I love it. How do you make a drone and a bass sound together? My understanding is that you just have the bass track as melodic source. Is it the microcosm? Thanks
The drone sound is coming from shaos module. I have it’s clock going at audio rate. Once you get into audio rate you can get different types of metallic bass sounds, based on what you feed into the inputs of the shaos or what you loop. I’m adding reverb and delay with microcosm. All sound sources are purely pulsar, only the effects are external.
@@SonicJunkie haha 😂👌 yes yes its like a virus of thought that invades the minds of the best of us. BTW i loved the performance and astonished knowing its all one synth. Im thinking of letting my alphabase go for the pulsar 23. I started running a sampler, so if i make a comprehensive sample library of the AB, i might find myself having more fun making and performing drums on the 23. any thoughs as someone who has both?
Just got a Lyra 8 today and it’s such a spiritual experience, we are ordering a Pulsar 23 because of you tomorrow 💜💜💜
Happy to hear!! I don’t doubt that you’ll enjoy the journey of exploring the endless sonic possibilities of Pulsar 23.

Only sound source is Pulsar. You’ll find all the effects used in the description.
"Drum machine" :D
True dat 😄
sorry thats not realy good perform for the price
You can check out my other videos to get a better idea of how far pulsar can go
oof 😬 its hard not to make that into a 'your mother' joke... 😅 but I won't.
Thank you for sparing the internet from another “your mother” joke. It must have been very difficult. I know
