    JP, I just want to say thank you, as an amateur DM your constant high energy fun videos are just bursting with creative energy and it never ceases to help me figure out something for my own campaign, you're probably the reason i'm still DMing it was a rough start.

    Holy crap I'm so excited for this book! It'll be awesome to flesh out the towns that are in the overworld map I made using the map making zine! Thanks in advance, JP! 🎉

    I think you're an awesome person for believing in people and making people believe in themselves, and sharing this fun passion of map making and world building. For the last year or so I've been obsessively watching and re-watching your videos and some conlanging videos as well, to the point where I've made my first proper conlang, written an epic poem in it about a girl who goes through stuff to found a city, and drawn a map for the world where the story takes place. I've even printed it as a zine and given to some of my friends who are into languages. I would've never thought I'd be capable of doing anything like that. And the map is the jewel of the zine in my opinion. I can't support you on Patreon at the moment because I happen to be born in Russia and all the banks are under the sanctions, but as soon as this horror ends, I will. I just felt the need to say thank you

    These videos are very beneficial for me starting to draw a fictional city, considering I don’t play any rpgs.

    Can't wait for the book to come out! I have Flik Silverpen's Guide to Making Maps, and I absolutely love it. I don't often even play TTRPGs - I just love drawing what you talk about in your channel. Also, I love your idea with ghouls. It's a great creative transformation of existing concepts.

    DnD also has intelligent ghouls, so it's lore accurate

    Do you have any tips for getting the scale of a city right? For some reason, the first questions that pop into my mind when I am world building a city are "what's the overall population?" and "what's the population density?" So I usually start from there, but I have no idea what to pay attention to so that the 30.000 people town with a population density of 200 people per km² reads as such. So far I looked at real word examples and roughly copied those, but I'd like to get more creative with my maps.

      @@melinnamba hah! distracted reader :P I'm not really sure beyond that. It might help to make different districts or neighborhoods. That would help break the story of the city down and then you could fill each area in with an appropriate amount of buildings based off the real world examples.

    Elantris by Brandon Sanderson is basically a city of ghouls. Maybe there could be some ideas and inspirations in it

    I have a city in my world that is set between two peaks. As a result of this, most of the city is shaded for most of the day. This was done on purpose because there is a large population of vampires in the city. Vampires are only really a threat when the cravings become too much and the go "feral". Taxes and penalties can be paid in part through blood which is given to the vampire populace as rations. There are also Blutmisers who harvest blood and market it like wine (age, race, diet and the likes affect the price).

    Do you erase the pencil marks after using the microns? It looks like you do but I wanted to ask, I'm always worried the ink will smear. How long do you wait if you erase the pencil reside?

    • @JPCoovert
      @JPCoovert  Рік тому +1

      Yes! I meant to put a clip in of erasing but forgot. It actually depends on the paper, but I usually leave it for at least 10 minutes before erasing. I've definitely smeared plenty of drawings being too quick with the eraser!

    My idea of this city was to have a district with the streets looking like a devil's pitchfork. You know.
    A red light district I call "The Devil's Playground." Where each of the strip clubs, adult entertainment theaters, adult stores, brothels and night clubs have a Hell theme. And it's located in the downtown area of this city.
