I couldn't imagine having to stand and watch everything I've worked hard for burn down. That has to be so heartbreaking. But a BIG shout-out to the Heros that fight these fires every day. They deserve Sooo much respect. And great video man
Hi John, amazing video as always! And the utmost respect to the FDNY members! Regarding the term "taxpayer," at least in the real estate industry here in NYC, it is understood to mean a one-story structure that was built in order to generate just about enough revenue to pay the real estate taxes due on the property. Thanks again!
Those smoke shop fires can be nasty, we had one here in Los Angeles where there was an illegal store of butane and it cooked off while the members were getting off the roof, the fire wrapped around the tower while members were on it. No members were killed, but some had major burns. My CERT inspectors were at that fire and suffered burns. The story they told was sobering. There are some videos on UA-cam on The Boyd Street Fire
@@markwatson3135I’ve seen the doc on that. That happened so incredibly fast and was so scary. The ff suffered some major injuries. Really makes me appreciate what these guys do everyday.
Great catch J.J. I knew it wasn't going to be too much longer before they had another big fire in N.Y. It's been eerily quiet, lately. My heart goes out to those who lost their businesses. It's devastating to lose everything like that.
Great fire coverage. Hard hot work for you. But much is learned by your coverage and analysis. Your work is excellent and valuable. Stay safe and God be with you and the FDNY members.
Awesome video John. You go above and beyond to bring us the best coverage. That was a big one. Devastating. Stay safe. Cool off. Get some sleep and some food. Thank you. ❤
I can't believe that they let citizens get so close to the Firefighters with their cell phone cameras. That is something that you'd never see in Southern California.
Thanks JJ for another fab coverage. What a shame, that was a massive fire. Those little neighborhood shops are so needed. Folks can’t get to huge box stores like Costco.
Great job, thank you for sharing this video footage of my community. I greatly appreciate your reporting and excellent quality footage. Blessings to you for your amazing work.
Looks like that one had a really good head start. Great video BUT you eat too much smoke John, please be careful. And at least a couple hydrant-parkers learned a lesson.
It likely had been smoldering for a white before the fire blew up and out. Those old connected wooden buildings, commercial and residential, can be fire traps. Kudos to the FDNY for their hard work and to you too, John, for the great video. However, I think you need to keep a supply of N-5 masks in the glove compartment of your car to wear and help protect your lungs from the high danger of directly inhaling deadly smoke from a bit fire such as this one.
Great coverage my friend love hearing the GPS 😂😂 but for real great job by the members thanks for sharing this and people don’t care about parking in front of the hydrant 2N2 my friend 1:10:11
So the policy is just to let it burn. They take ages to get water on the fire then 20mins in a tower ladder finally starts putting water on it. I cannot understand american fire fighters attitude
Great job as always, John!!! Hope you got some rest and let your lungs recover a bit. Your video illustrates just how quickly things burn; both the fire at the back door and later when the furniture part of the 99¢ store lit up again. You could see the shopping carts begin to glow and melt! Were you telling Skyler to put the thermal cam away? 😂
I’ve never understood why it takes them so long to get a ladder truck up and flowing water. You can set a truck up and have water flowing within 5 to 8 minutes. And then you got guys standing around with a line in their hand and flowing the water. They just seem way too relaxed, and unconcerned. They were over 30 minutes in before they really started flowing water.
same observation here. the 99 store was almost in ruins before water was seen flowing to the fire. almost 39mins of the video. no offense meant for fdny, but it was just slow to watch.
@@Yupyup535 not necessarily, New York uses them to knock down fires from the store front. Never seen anyone else do this but it makes sense. Can flow a lot of water on a large fire this way and penetrate the building at the same time with the pressure and flow.
The loading up of units reminds me of the Santana Row complex fire here in San Jose Calif. in 2003, a mixed shops & residential units above the shops complex, under construction. It was 8 alarms, plus another 5 alarms for spot fires from embers. The BC on the first alarm asked for a second immediately upon seeing to smoke header, well before going on scene. In San Mateo County Calif., last week, there was an 8 alarm fire at a building under construction. They had some strike teams come from out of that County, which would be like units from another borough, in New York City. New York handles these larger fires well.
Oh no! Not DUNKIN' Donuts!! Those firefighters are amazing workers. You are a great reporter. Thank you. PS Said that mannequin in the $.99 store window, "I'm melting!"
Hey brother I love the way you film and narrate at the same time, you are extremely knowledgeable and you know a lot about the procedure’s and fire and I appreciate what you do! Before you had mentioned the smoke kicked your hind quarters when the $.99 store was smoking real bad I said to myself I hope he’s wearing at least a disposable mask because of all the carcinogens and toxins in the smoke. You seem like a genuinely nice guy and I would rather your health be good than seeing you go through that poisonous gas’s in that smoke. I probably wouldn’t have said anything but you respond to a lot of working 10-75’s again thank you for the outstanding content only a real New Yorker can get! Please be careful and take care. Jay Bird!
YES, GLAD YOU LIKE THE VIDEO AND CHANNEL.....YES I DO WEAR A SMALL MASK AT TIMES BUT NEED A MUCH BETTER ON FOR SURE.....THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS.....THEY REALLY MEAN A LOT FOR ME TO HEAR.....
Thank you for always sharing your knowledge during your videos. I have watched a few other channels, and I always appreciate your commentary . Stay safe out there.
Retired firefighter here, hear you coughing a lot during the taping...did you ever consider purchasing some gear? I get that the weight might limit your mobility, but a good shot of some bad....might hurt you. Nice video of this job.
Thank you John great coverage as always. FDNY fantastic work. With the heat and humidity, I don't know how you do it. Such incredible, angry flames. Need bucket ladders. Wow. From the balcony in back, that black smoke is really rolling. The smoke in front is really rolling too. The RAC will surely be needed today!. That fire you could see from the front of maybe the furniture or the corner store is sure blazing away. I so admire the work done by all aspects of the FDNY, the EMS, everyone! God bless all. ❤🚒❤🇺🇸❤
Yah, they saved another basement! Frustrating watching how long it took them to get water going!! I saw no urgency a day alot of firemen standing around! I would call them amazing at all!!!
So correct me if I’m wrong, it looks like they use a 3 inch line for supply, a 2 inch, or 2 1/2 inch attack lines. I don’t see any pre-connects over the pump panel or bumper lines. They don’t use 1 1/2 hose? Do they use a 2 inch attack line or a car fire? I don’t see any hose reels on their engines. Man that’s crazy..!!
Great broadcast my dude. That was definitely an angry fire! Once they found the fire (or it found them), FDNY did what they do best. Now how they get all that hose unf*cked? I guess that's why we call them the best! Good to see you still on the job. Take care of you man. 💯🇺🇸
John this is the best vid i have seen of this taxpayer fire! (seen some others on YT etc ) Sadly thats the problem with these 1 story taxpayer units ...once the fire gets into the cockloft/ roof it spreads so quickly between shop unit to unit as most are old and dont have fire walls up in that space thats why so many Taxpayer fires spread and leave a lot of buisnesses devastated 😢
JJ great job 👍 on this video, great angles and filming.. Lots of Smoke be safe , This hot weather is so intense. God Bless FDNY and all Emergency Personnel working in this Heat.. Prayers 🙏 for FDNY members... Definitely need the RAC.. There's so much different things burning toxic smoke.. God Bless JJ Take care be Safe ..
great coverage john sorry to see you get smoked out be careful its not good for your health. FDNY did another great job getting control of this fire glad all members were safe. tough weather to fight fires in for all the members…take care of yourself John
JJ, my brother take care of yourself. You know sometimes being a Retired Firefighter I still carry my badge and I was out for a walk one day and came upon a car parked right in front of a hydrant and I waited around for the driver and parking enforcement came down the street so I flagged them down showed the parking officer my badge and told him to tag the car and when he was done the owner of the car came out and was bitching about the ticket, I simply told the guy I was a retired firefighter and I would have put the hose right through his window for him being a dumb ass for parking in front of the hydrant
I love how you often say you're gonna pack up and you still hang around for another half hour 🤣
Lol - He does that all the time! I think that's his trademark. It keeps us watching.

Thanks, I was wondering what "taxpayer" mean.
Thanks for another GREAT effort. Thanks again!
Many people without respiratory protection and what is the guy with the cell phone doing at the scene? unbelievable
Blazin' Smoke shop.... How ironic? Great Video yet again...
hey whos the dummy in the window

Yeah, I figured I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Ironic indeed.
Smoke shops have lithium batteries in the vapes.

THE DUNKIN DOGNUTS IS ON FIRE I REPEAT THE DUNKIN DOGNUTS IS ON FIRE WE CANT LET THOSE DOGNUTS AND ICED COFFES GO TO WASTE
I don't understand why they allow citizens to get so close to the scene. In normal cities the LEOs would hustle them out of there quickly.
@RealJeep All you have to do is wear something that says "Press" and in MOST cases it gives you access.
Great video. FDNY had their hands full, this fire had a big head start, a lot of loss for the people of NY. Prayers for them all. Stay well

incredible reporting and footage that is some serious flame
Love it when you can hear the comms. Gives so much insight into chaotic scenes for what the companies are doing.
Agreed!
And so much better real time. Some channels add it in, but it’s not synced.
Proof JJ is the best!
Holy smoke. That is so intense I don't think I've seen that intense red before.
Why did they wait so long to start hosing
Humidity makes that smoke bank down and you just cant escape it. Great job on the video.
Thanks JJ for another fab coverage. What a shame, that was a massive fire. Those little neighborhood shops are so needed. Folks can’t get to huge box stores like Costco.
Great video as usual. My son and daughter are both firefighter/paramedics and all firefighters have my utmost admiration for their bravery.
Thanks JJ, another great video. Peace 🇱🇺 ( Rotterdam, The Netherlands )
wow big one knocked down fairly quick great reporting as always John
Great job, thank you for sharing this video footage of my community. I greatly appreciate your reporting and excellent quality footage. Blessings to you for your amazing work.
The $.99 cent store was a total loss…almost $376 in damages.
😂
John, I can almost smell the smoke. This is one of your BEST fires yet. Great coverage.!!!
great job John once again a lot of smoke
Dude you are awesome always going for the best angle. 👍
Great video, as always. The dummy at 5:43 was a real pain on the behind.

Where da RAC at?? 😜
Thank you very much. This was so sad.
UK viewer here, incredible reporting and footage! That is some serious flame 🔥
Ah, FDNY. What can you say, they haven’t lost a foundation yet..!!
😂😂 Basement savers!
Great coverage my friend love hearing the GPS 😂😂 but for real great job by the members thanks for sharing this and people don’t care about parking in front of the hydrant 2N2 my friend 1:10:11
Great video! 👍🏻
THANKS SO MUCH.....
36:26 just a curios question. Why are those 5 firefighters just standing there? Aren't they supposed to help??
I said the same thing! Unreal, there should be plenty of work for them to do! SMH
So the policy is just to let it burn. They take ages to get water on the fire then 20mins in a tower ladder finally starts putting water on it. I cannot understand american fire fighters attitude
Great video, thanks mate, stay safe

A great documentary again John, good job from you and the FDNY it was a old fashion big one again, hope they will rebuild soon.
good job keeping on top of this event !
THANKS SO MUCH.....
My god , put some water on it.
above and beyond the best coverage that was a big one stay safe
Finally a good one J J I hope all are safe.
"Blazin Smoke Shop" says it all. Good job brother. 👏
Much better coverage than other channels.
You be safe and thanks for your video's 😮
Thank you for showing this video. I live in South Florida and heard it on the news here plus Ch 7 news
World famous Engine 82 still operating from "the war years" to now.
I remember reading Dennis Smith’s “Report From Engine Co. 82” when it was published in 1972. That house was really hopping!
Great catch JJ😊😊😊😊😊
Do the basements flood from all the water, or does it run out ground level?
Great job as always, John!!! Hope you got some rest and let your lungs recover a bit.

Until a roof collapses or you open the roof. Water flowing from a tower ladder is useless.

These replace the guys who may already be in the building. Or the structure is unsafe, so using ladder teams.
It’s been a while but this was an blazing fire!!! I bet you could catch a contact and smell marijuana from blocks away.
Awesome footage as usual John !!! Stay safe

You were breathing alot of smoke!!😷
Great video! We are going to need a gofundme to put together an air pak for you bud.

John could you tell me or find out why the FD cuts through the gate rather than cut the lock and roll it up PS great video as usual
Some of the gates are electric.
