    I have a beautiful Swedish Ivy and it isn't quite as badly and thick as when I bought it. Watching your video assures me it is fine, but shows it could use a bit of pinching back so it will spread out. Thank you for your words of plant wisdom.

    Kim, that was such a perfect comparison for light. Hard, crisp shadow meaning bright, direct light. Thank you!

    This plant also has a sweet fragrance to it. I’ve noticed every time I water it or mist it. Some people can smell it and some people can’t. Yes it’s weird but I love that sweet fragrance. Try getting close to it when you water it, also have different people try it to see if they can smell it too. 🍃🍃🍃

    My aunt gave me this plant a few weeks ago and I have been searching for it and I found your video and answered all my questions. Loved the way you narrated this video and, I felt it all, how you are so in touch with your plants. 🙂 Thank you so so much and keep making videos. Greetings from beautiful, sunny Mexico City. I finally found what plant my Aunt brought from Spain to Philippines! 😊.

    One thing I noticed about this plant... it's got a smell to it that I absolutely love!!!!

    A number of years ago, I went on holiday, and my children forgot to water my swedish ivy (it was in my bedroom). I tried for over 5 years to find another plant in Canada. Perhaps it has gone out of fashion, as houseplants seem to do. I tried to get some cuttings from the USA, however Covid slowed the shipment. By the time it came there were 4 leaves on one stem. Fast forward 8 months, and I now have a small, but lovely trailing plant with four sturdy stems. If you see this plant for sale pick it up! (and I am still looking for a hanging basket!)

    Beautiful plant and excellent description and tips. I had a gorgeous one, ruby stemmed, and I had it climbing a trellis indoors and it was spectacular until, suddenly, it just died horribly. I still don’t know what happened. My current attempt has gone poorly as well. I’m stumped. Any advice about what might kill a nice specimen would be appreciated!

      I am not sure what might have happened. I am in a streak right now of mine growing really well. I just take a lot of cuttings for the possible decline of one or more of my plants. They root so easily. Now I have too many. (Or is there such a thing?)

    Hi! I have a cutting that was growing all green and beautiful, but today I realized that most of her leaves have these transparent spots sorrounded by a black line. The spots are really small (like made with a needle) so you just can see them when you're close. Have you ever seen something like that on your plant before?

    • @KimsGardensandHome
      @KimsGardensandHome  3 роки тому

      I am not sure what that would be. Check for pests? Or are you so close up that you are seeing the actual leaf stomata?

    • @WigantX
      @WigantX 3 роки тому

      @@KimsGardensandHome I looked for images of leaves stomata, and unfortunately they're not. The plant looks very "pest clean", and I haven't seen any bugs on it. If I could describe them any better I would say these spots are visible without the use of any magnifying glass, but if you look from one meter away, you wouldn't see them clearly. If you get closer, they look like ashes, and if you get even closer they look like a group of windows with the shape of a behive cell (kind of), surrounded by a black frame. This black frame is irregular in shape, and it seems like dead tissue. Both, the transparent and black part can be seen from both sides of the leaves. The entire structure is thiner than the leaf itself, so the light can pass through them. Thanks for your answer!

    HELP! I have a Swedish Ivy (aka dollar plant, whorled Plectranthus, Swedish Begonia.. that is losing its leaves! Many have turned brown before falling, but there's also many green. Doesn't get direct sun, but it is summer so perhaps it's too hot?
    Why is it shedding it's leaves? How can I tell if it's been over-watered or it needs more water?

    • @KimsGardensandHome
      @KimsGardensandHome  Рік тому

      I am not sure what it might be if it is not overwatered or underwated. But while it still has some green branches, I would start rooting some asap. That way you have something new to start on. Check lower stems at soil line to see if strong, not mushy or brown too. Could be root rot. Had something similar and I quickly made me 3 extra plants. They root in just a few days. Plus they grow quickly!

    My ivy plants are dieing! Why?? The soil is moldy. Not enough sun I think. What can I do?!

    • @KimsGardensandHome
      @KimsGardensandHome  5 років тому +2

      If you have drainage from the bottom, such as a hole, try poking it in case it is clogged for some reason. Sounds as if the plant is too moist. Don't water it until it feels very dry to the touch. If you poke your finger in and there is any moisture, don't water. Even use a skewer to poke into the soil and see if soil sticks to it. If it does, there is enough water. Pinch off all the dead or limp foliage because if you can save the roots, it will grow again. Needs some bright light but sun will burn it. Hope that is some help.

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1 5 років тому +4

      If you are getting moldy soil that is an indication that it is being overly saturated with water and the water isn't draining properly. These plant like lighter more airy soil that can drain water easily. If the soil is tightly compacted it creates a soppy wet environment that can choke out the roots and eventually kill the plant altogether. If you want to save the plant and give it a whole new lease on life, I would repot it immediately to a soil type that is more suitable for the plant and also ensure that the container allows adequate flow and drainage. Best of luck!
