Bwa ha! That's a snide remark if I've ever heard one. My favorite band of all time though so I'm a fanboy that'll happily listen to anything they produce.
Yes, I have been listening to DCFC for years...and the end is very post rock in a way they have never ventured into before! All good here; I love post rock. Kinda wish they had explored this vibe sooner!
Pushed play, walked outside and danced under the super full moon light surrounded by trees and a chorus of crickets singing backdrop 💜 it's beautiful. Such a beautiful song.
DCFC, I just want to thank you for helping to keep us sane during the early days of the pandemic when we were all in quarantine. All those live casts got me through those weird times.
I’m old, and y’all have been my R.E.M. replacement for like 12-15 years. I say all that to say I am absolutely L O V I N G everything on this album and can’t wait to hear the rest of it!
Wow. This gives me some seriously early DCFC nostalgia. I love how this kind of music isn’t about loving it or hating it - rather it’s about whether you just simply get it or not. It really is death cab’s world and we’re just living in it.
This song just blows me away, I don't possess the vocabulary to explain how this song reaches my soul, but it surely makes me feel an emotion I've never felt before
Thank Hey-Zeus! Think I missed some stuff towards the end of that decade! "Beam me sideways Scotty!" Or, ya know, whatever direction "that" way is.... ☺️
Yeah. I hear it too. That hihat is so gloriously loud but sounds so creamy and not harsh at all. I heard these boys in 2001 and saw them every tour they have come to NYC. I think im at 23 shows now. This may be the best song they have put out since Narrow Stairs
@@brianbonifacio7536 your exactly right, you could just hear it all over that album they were struggling to find their way without him musically, I saw an interview with Ben couple weeks ago where he was talking about it and said that there were several times where they almost threw in the towel because Chris was such an integral part of their writing and he was really frustrated. It's a really good interview.
The instrumentals for this song reminds of a rougher Death Cab, which I adore. The music beyond 3:40 is some of the best guitar work by the group period. But, I am not sure the spoken word. It may take a bit to get used to, but I will see what my thoughts are on this song after a few listens!
Yes! That was a great ending. Guits and vox were amazing. Post-rock writing and production. Very 1990s. Will be epic live. I'm not sure how the spoken word will last but I'll give it try.
the 'the mighty oak tree used to be a nut like me' spoken words in Amputations is exactly what this song reminded me of. He's just sneaking old DCFC in the new stuff. Even the guitar and drum rhythm is the same as old DCFC. I for one WELCOME this! I'm so here for it!
The vocals remind me of Mark Kozelek of Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon.. the stuff he has done later in his career. Listen to Sun Kil Moon's "Ben's My Friend" for both a taste of his spoken wordy vocal style, and a song about going to a Postal Service show in LA. They're old friends.
Many of my favorite artists are putting out music right now, but every time Death Cab releases another song from their upcoming album I'm reminded why they've been my number one most listened to band since I was old enough to develop my own music taste. Thanks, as always!
While I do for the most part prefer earlier Death Cab, Back when Chris Walla was still in the band, These singles from Asphalt Meadows have quickly become among my favourite songs since Walla left, And I'm really excited for the full album!
Wow, this… is fantastic. Had me feeling super emotional. Really hits you in the gut, and is the first thing in a while that feels like it was cut from the vibe cloth of the Transatlanticsim album.
Wow! This is an incredibly beautiful song. I love Ben's voice both spoken and sung. The music is fantastic and so nicely done. Can't wait to hear this live! Well done guys!
Wow. This is absolutely beautiful. I was nervous they couldn’t survive without Walla honestly. I think half of thank you for today was great and this song is amongst some of the best stuff they have ever done.
As a giant fan of La Dispute and mewithoutYou that has adored Death Cab for 20 years, it's really hard to describe the feeling that came over me when I reached this point of the album. This might very well be my favorite song they've ever made.
From "Something About Airplanes", "The Photo Album", through "Transatlanticism", "Plans", all the other wonderful albums in your repertoire, not to mention ALL the EPs I have memories with and which created memories for me, and just everything you guys have produced from the beginning, THANK YOU for being heartfelt and meaningful people in what often feels like a meaningless world that exists in similarly meaningless times. There is a certain unchanging quality and sincerity in your music that always reminds us that there is a beautifully preserved constant in what you share with the world through your art. Your substance, depth, soul, heart, quest for understanding and raw feeling have always been nothing short of a spiritual experience. Love you guys and the intrinsic beauty and primordial nature that your music has always effortlessly exuded. You guys are real and present and share with us what is real and true during these dark times. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🥰🥰♥♥
The spoken word bits remind me a lot of Slaughter Beach, Dog - Do You Understand (What Has Happened To You); I absolutely can not wait for the full album, happy I preordered the vinyl!
Sounds more like death cab than anything since Chris left unlike the last album where you could hear they were struggling to find they're way without him musically and sounded like a completely different band. But this has a pleasantly more death cabbish feel to it definitely a more conscious effort to retain that sound than anything post Chris Walla.
@@iamjesuschristintheflesh5866 never said I didn't like it there every song they've ever released is fantastic actually it grew on me my favorites from that album are "Northern lights" and "Near/Far"
My dad and I have always loved you guys. I'm going to show this to him now :) I'm so glad you're still making music. Thank you for great songs and memories as always
For me personally, every DCFC release in the last 10 years has been more or less disappointing. But this is something completely different, a big step in the right direction, I like a slightly darker Death Cab and they sound inspired again. Thanks for this!
@@Consan67 I've actually loved their last two albums! I don't think they've released anything disappointing at all in the last decade. This song is absolutely fantastic and I can't wait for the rest of this album
Honestly reminds me of the Something About Airplanes/We Have The Facts era…the instrumental sections, the half-time signature, the spoken word/recording. Love this.
I am so amazed at this, I can't stop listening. This entire album so far just hits so deep, and I can't wait for the rest of it. It could be one of my favorite Death Cab albums, maybe my favorite
This song feels a nod to the fans. It's new Death Cab with old Death Cab vibes. So far I'm loving all three singles, and impatiently waiting for the full album.
This song feels influenced by Explosions in the Sky. Also I live on the Olympic Peninsula and fox glove in clear cuts is eerie and tragic. No matter how long I am here it makes me suck in my breath and sometimes even shed tears.
Listening to this while reading Nella Larson at the Rockaway Beach. The water is too cold so I didn’t feel like taking a dip! Love from Rockaway Beach, the seagulls and the blaring sun!
Please make it available on Instagram. I love this song. This is the song of my last travel. It reminds me about emotions, discoveries and feelings of my last travel.
You guys just wrote the 2022 version of Atlantis by Donovan. Congratulations. I absolutely freaking love this!!! I listen to it at work with my chums!!
Another McGerr classic that I’m going to get lost in. 😍🥁 Seems reasonably simple, but there’s a thoughtfulness in the subtle, particular details that I just can’t wait to surround myself with. 😊🤗🥰
Die like dinoz... and now we watch the fz Glove in the clear cut .for what is a funeral without flowers. Rip you honorary s.o.b. we love you Dino. You were my brother and i loved you. R.i.p.
It’s always a great feeling to be surprised/blown away by a band you thought couldn’t do that anymore.
Backhanded compliment?
Chris is sorely missed.
heard it in an AD actually! had absolutely NO idea it was DCFC, i used to jam them in highschool, about 10 years ago. this song gives me chills.
Bwa ha! That's a snide remark if I've ever heard one. My favorite band of all time though so I'm a fanboy that'll happily listen to anything they produce.
Completely feel the exact same way.
Massive instrumental.. Explosions in the sky vibes at times
Omg YES!!
YES, I was looking through the comments to see whether anyone had already commented this.
That's it.

Yes, I have been listening to DCFC for years...and the end is very post rock in a way they have never ventured into before! All good here; I love post rock. Kinda wish they had explored this vibe sooner!
This song feels both entirely new and unique, but also reminiscent of older albums, like Narrow Stairs. Loving this album so far!
Like hearing them for the first time all over again 💚
Life always finds a way...out of an ending comes a new beginning. Foxglove is one of the first plants to populate a clearcut.
Pushed play, walked outside and danced under the super full moon light surrounded by trees and a chorus of crickets singing backdrop 💜 it's beautiful. Such a beautiful song.
you are living up to that username.
Wow…was not expecting the spoken word vibe…super refreshing …also the instrumentals are just wonderfully classic death cab
true
DCFC, I just want to thank you for helping to keep us sane during the early days of the pandemic when we were all in quarantine. All those live casts got me through those weird times.
Same
Seems so so long ago and yet...also not. What I mean is that the pandemic seemed to skew time. Ben's lives honestly got me through some weeks.
Got me out of bed every the morning (in Japan).
Same same
Total respect

This is one of those death cab songs that will be absolutely incredible live!
It was beautiful, they played this at the when we were young festival back in October. Literal goosebumps the whole time

We are in the 2000's again! DCFC is the best thing to ever happen to modern rock music. They saved so many people
Thank Hey-Zeus! Think I missed some stuff towards the end of that decade! "Beam me sideways Scotty!" Or, ya know, whatever direction "that" way is.... ☺️
When the song opens up its feels like post rock territory, and I'm here for it 😀
Has similar vibes to the 2003 days with a bit of “something about airplanes” too. Very good boys. Been a fan since 2000.

More photo album than something about airplanes imo
Chris leaving changed everything
@@badmonkey2222 yup. He really was the soul of the band. Possibly the only person who challenged Ben. Without him, we get Gold Rush.
