      No question is stupid Anna. I have only dried the undercoat overnight. It seem to cure really hard that way. The flower itself is painted all at one time, and not dried between layers. Hope that answers your question.

    Hi Yovette,
    First of all I love your name.
    Your paintings are absolutley beautifull I'm practicing over and over, to capture your strokes and also the blending. I'm 76 and with the covit I have started to pick up my painting again, I did not paint for years, I used to paint in oils and now also try acrylics. I find acrylics very challenging because
    It dries so fast. How do you make the medium you use, because it seems to make the paint flow so beautiful? Could you maybe help me to make the medium? I'm also ordering the brushes fro Amazon.
    Thank you so much it's going to be a long winter. You're amazing.

    • @PaintingWithYovette
      @PaintingWithYovette  3 роки тому +1

      It was delightful to read you letter Johanna! Yes, acrylics are a big challenge, and I do very little of them. I am mostly an oil painter and love oils.
      So the medium I used was a home made blend that I thought worked wonderfully! Here is the link.
      ua-cam.com/video/WUC3vCther4/v-deo.html
      But also you can purchase an already made product on Amazon or any craft store that also works. You would look for extenders for acrylic or slow dry mediums. Thank you for your very nice compliment, and I hope you have a wonderful experience! We are almost the same age, I am 77.

  • @sarxh_21
    @sarxh_21 3 роки тому

    I am really enjoying your videos. You explain so clearly. You inspire me to paint on canvas . One question. Is the medium the same for both oil and acrylic? Might seem like a no brainer but I am confused. You used your medium in your videos and some were oil. I thought oil and water don’t mix. I am a beginner so please explain. I sincerely appreciate you taking your time to teach us from afar. Have an amazingly awesome super deluxe day! Be safe! Stay well!

    • @PaintingWithYovette
      @PaintingWithYovette  3 роки тому

      The mediums in acrylic and oil's are different Sarah. You are right, you can't mix water and oil. Acrylic mediums have to be water soluable. And oil mediums have to be oil based. I am so happy to be inspiring you, and thank you for your very nice compliment! 🌹

  • @Shipslaw

    Hi Yovette - why do I have such a problem with yellow? I have yellow upon yellow tube, pot etc, various makes and it seems as if there is just no pigment in it! Any brush stroke just leaves a watery blob. Is this characteristic wrt acrylics? Once again, what a sterling painting the above is!

    • @PaintingWithYovette
      @PaintingWithYovette  4 роки тому +2

      The pigment in yellow acrylic is not very much Jacques! That is one reason I use Liquitex Heavy Body paint. It has more pigments than most brands. Using yellow, you can also add white which will help it show more. And, or, you can let the first coat dry completely, then go over the whole flower again with a second coat. Hope that helps. This is a lovely flower with lovely colors, so I hope you are able to resolve the issue.

      Yes you can Munnjean! This is the oil painting, but it is in pink insgead of yellow colors. ua-cam.com/video/xxCUAeV7FXo/v-deo.html Just blend the two painting together by adding foliage, and it should turn out great! Let me know how it works for you.

    You mention medium - what is it? I'm new to acrylics and am a new subscriber to your videos.

      Thank you for subbing Carol! In that particular video I was using acrylic and I was using an extender medium to help the paint stay wet longer. I don't normally use acrylic, I mostly use oil. Welcome to my channel. I hope you can learn some things from me.

    It is possible to use acrylic to do the same job as same as like you do.if not,why? Could you please tell me.

      I am not quite sure what you mean Vincent when you asked, can you do this same painting in acrylics. This painting is done in acrylics, but you could also do it in oils if you wanted to. It is a little bit more difficult to do this in acrylic than it is with oil paint, because acrylic does not blend quite as easily as oil does.

      Seems a lot of people miss that Pauline. Right under my video, there is a little written part that says SHOW MORE. If you click on that, a box drops down giving you a lot more information. Try it, and let me know if it works for you!

    Is there any way to talk with you? I have been trying and trying and trying to do this flower and I can not figure out why my picture isn't turning out? I am about to give up on it but I really think there must be a reason why it isn't working out?

    Te cuento Yovette: Acabo de ver Tu nuevo video, con las flores amarillas matizadas. Como siempre hermoso tu trabajo, que a ti no te cuesta nada porque ers maestra..!! debo decirte que abandoné las pinturas de Robert Duncan porque el no sale pintando. Sólo se ven las imágenes. Aparte el caballo que le miraba ,
    a mi me quedó como un burro, y eso que le alcancé a pintar , sólo la parte de adelante..ja..ja !!
