I love watching your videos! You're such a high skill player and your attention to build craft (whether on meta or off) has taught me to see GW2 in a different light and has totally reinvigorated the game for me. I still have yet to get into WvW but wading into PvP has been a blast!
I had a staff thief phase when HoT came out. It was a ton of fun and I used to run it with acro as well. Now with how everything's changed I felt like a lot of thief build's were lost to unviability but you've made me realize that they simply became viable somewhere else. Kinda makes me regret turning my nose at zerging as long as I have. Now I get it. Excited for when I've got the rig for it.
Since you were asking for video ideas, here is one. Maybe some kind of tips and tricks on how to identify what both your teammates and enemies are running? (detecting the burn Guardian vs Support Guardian or Symbol Guardian) Something like this is probably super helpful imo.
This has always been a fun build, and I love still seeing it around. I created this build like four years ago and still use it often on thief. Too fun.
I love these "offmeta" ideas, giving a new look to a stagnant mode (partly by the players) in builds. Beserker works very well, the only problem is the need to be in a group (melee), but the double bust always down 3-5. Great video as always.
I sometimes play staff daredevil on sos during ocx/sea. I run critical strikes with marauder and scholar runes. 10k+ vaults on backline squishies is no joke
Your build is more meta and what experienced staff thieves run. Acro is much more for roaming and less experienced thieves. It's ALL about spike damage with staff thief while having awareness not to get spiked down. Marau gives you close to 20k health, which isn't enough to survive a concentrated zerg bomb...but nothing survives that.
How is this holding up on Nov 2021? I play w my guild in groups of 10-15 and we usually don't see any use of thief in the comp because there are just better options, but now we may look into 1 or 2 pole dancer thieves to get this backline annoyances, I'll definetly try this build out
This is probably a more viable and forgiving build for new staff thieves but crit strikes / marauders is still going to out damage this build in most engagements. You depend on spike damage for downs in gvg or even zerg v zerg scenarios, which this build just won't keep up with compared to crit strikes.
probably yes, if you are within the squad youd have a lot more stability and support so you wouldnt need as many dodges, and then crit strikes would be the answer
Hello Vallun, would you say this build can still be used to play a mix of roaming and zerging with current state of the game? Also thank you for all your vids, they really help me improve my wvw knowledge and learn a lot about gw2 :)
Hi, awesome video. I have a simple but critical quesiton which i couldn't figure out in the game. At 3:33, you have your character facing backwards and use the healing skill's dodge effect to move forward. How did you make that instant with the camera view unchanged? Can you share the tricks, like any keybind or special setting required to achieve this? I tried the "about face" setting but still I need to wait for the camera rotating, which is not like your instant change. Please advise. Rly appreciate your efforts in showing us these videos.
Great vid! Ty. I usually run semi-organized havok squads of 4-12. Would a critical arts + invigorating precision style be possible? Would it he better to go marauders and try to crit cap?
if you go critical strikes then yes you should go marauders because theres so much ferocity gained from precision and youll have fury to allow crit capping, but acrobatics with vision is going to be a bit more top end dmg because of the optimized power and ferocity stats. If you do go critical strikes id assume youd want bountiful for the vigor uptime, and if youre in a havok squad it would allow for more coordination. However, replacing vision with bloodlust might make up for that dmg
You can use relic of the daredevil with this build. With each dodge/evade, your next strike is crit. And so, you dont need to use the precision signet, instead use the power one (i forgot the names). Let me know what you think:)
not really, you support on tempest and frontline weaver would be more of a small scale thing, you can play normal fire weaver build for that but not really in zergs
@@cfnp-m2995 small scale/solo. A German youtuber/streamer used a similar staff/staff build for small scale and solo, he's "KONA KLÄRT" on UA-cam. I copied it and changed it a bit in my own needs. I mostly dueled people with it 1vs1 or in a group of 2-3 people. Sometimes I use critical strikes instead of acrobatics.
Has a ton of evades (while attacking too), condi cleanses on evade/dodge (including immob?), has stealth and teleports. Just one question: How do I kill it as warrior in 1 v 1?
I don't see the problem with posting a more for fun type of build like this. Obviously comp groups won't want this but who cares. There's always going to be pugs playing whatever they enjoy and this build will at least do damage in an aoe and evades. Metabattle already lists the build so its not like there aren't already players playing a staff zerg build
yeh works against bad unorganized groups just like some condi build would work. It's just not worth running staff thief anymore unless its gvg(15-20) Not worth the risk to run staff atm
I mean if your perogative is to top the arbitrary dps meters then sure its not worth it, but lots of people ask me for a build like this anyway, so there are other motives than just smashing aoes into blobs
This build is likely designed with a roamer who wants to join a pug zerg in mind. Most "serious" wvw players can recognize that an organized comp wouldn't want this but having fun with pugs is a viable way to play
People talk about organized zergs as if that is what most groups are. Most organized zergs are wearing the same tag and have comps pre-planned anyway. They are uninterested in thinking out of the box except maybe for the 2-5 flex slots (which meta allows to be Soulbeasts or other DPS). I'd argue that most players on a server are PUGs or smaller guilds with a public tag, and they won't be able to compete with the support/dps ratios the single-tag zergs are running under any circumstances. Their competition is other Havocs which is where alternate builds can shine.
@@Vallun LOL, I think you might have killed me a few times on my Rev when I was trying to solo roam. I finally got the Renegade line unlocked and I've been trying to make the 7-shot with Exotics. I'll need a few more months to get ascended on that toon.
In the intro you were basically jumping around to tag some downed states created by other people. In the outro you did very little damage compared to other damage classes and almost die. You mentioned GvG but that's a completely different environment compared zerg fights, it's even numbers and everybody is coordinated on voice chat. Can't wait to see hordes of thieves not in squad, running around the commander tag and rally-botting the enemy zergs to check out your build. I usually like your videos but I guess this is the exception to the rule.
look a little closer in the intro lmao, just because i did most of the cleaving of the bodies doesn't mean i didnt contribute to downing them. Actually most of them went downed so fast to my build you could barely tell because i was just spamming and randomly down people. The outro was me sitting on top of 20 people so yes im obviously going to almost die. If you listened to the video I explained how the damage is not as important if you place it correctly or create a distraction. You're allowed to not like the video, and to not like people who rally bot, but I don't think my build is going to turn someone who isn't already one into one.
The thief has always been broken as fuck in the PVP seen a good thief can screw with a hole zerg for ever that's why most zerg's ignore them and then the back line dies because the thief is an highly mobile irritating stealthy fucker that can kill a twink glass canon back line in about 2 to 3 hits and how bursty the thief is by the time the back line can react thy are dead for the most part or less the half Hp
this is not an informed comment, its just you complaining about someone providing results without being carried by a squad. My time has been wasted but im pretty satisfied honestly

Signets/trait buffs, food/util, weapons of choice/skills that come with them, current meta compared to their elite spec.

Absolutely loved this!! I’m swapping characters trying to get a new main. Looking forward to try it

does this build still work? also, what food buffs do you use?
you should check the more updated version on guildjen.com wvw zerging page
Does exist a duelist/roamer version of a staff daredevil? Like a good 1v1 build
its this build
good video man, question did weaver have a frontline or support build?
not really, you support on tempest and frontline weaver would be more of a small scale thing, you can play normal fire weaver build for that but not really in zergs

Get stamina sigil instead of energy, insanely better, i've been hella using that since long ago, its insane

absolutely, i show a 1v1 at the start, youll be fine vs condi builds, other thieves may be hard but they arent able to go inside zergs
