I give my take on what would have happened to Game of Thrones if Oberyn Martell had BEATEN and stayed away from the Mountain during Season 4 of Game of Thrones. How would that affect Tyrion, Tywin, Cersei, Daenerys, Jon Snow, etc.
Then he wouldn't have ended up as a Mandalorian.

Oberyn was one of the hardest deaths for me in the show, such a cool dude
Absolutely
Oberyn “you are from essos ..Let me guess, leece ? I have ear for accents.”
Varys “I’ve lost my accent entirely”
Oberyn “I have an accent for that too”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I agree no offense to the Starks but net and the red wedding just didn’t really do it for me.

Oberyn in season 8 : "to be honest, I never cared much about my sister or her children"
Golden comment Raminagrobisfr!!
Oberyn is convinced that Tywin ordered The Mountain to do what he did to his kin. He would not likely leave King's Landing until trying to arrange Tywin's death in some way. It is possibly that he was already poisoning him.
It's possible he could've left poison behind, true. I think taking the Mountain for now and then eventually Tywin would be enough for him, if it means he gets to live.
Then oberyn hptried to help Tyrion and help himself, he failed both but he tried and so Tyrion replayed him with that :)
@@TheBattProductions it was implyed that Tywin was poisned by Oberyn before his death. It's part of the reason he was using the bathroom so often and why his body smelled so foul after his death in the books.
I think shae is finish and is a sand snake sent to get close to tywin through Tyrion...that's how she ended up in his bed... when Tyrion discovered her there she had pulled a blade from her pillow... meaning she was already prepared to stab someone... maybe tywin before Tyrion steals the show
@@aaronalvin3992 i do see the fact that Tywin was killed on the shitter to be the most poetic justice ever lolz
I like the idea of Tommen showing his backbone and his better nature by pledging to protect the realm and following through with it. He probably would have been an okay king if he could count on loyal advisors and his mother didn't meddle and try to come in between him and his wife.
What if Ned just left with Arya and Sansa after telling Robert that he wasn’t going to be the Hand anymore, you know, instead of going to that brothel (and ultimately he leaves before putting it all together that the kids aren’t Robert’s).
Literally Everything Changes
Well, Robert would have been killed as well, Joffrey would become King as well, but, i think, ned would do nothing or support Stannis (because he knows Stannis is King by Right). After that, there are very much oportunities.
Nah I think there would've been a confrontation at the gate between Lannister and maybe Baratheon forces stopping them from leaving
Krypto Kly well stannis probably wouldn’t have tried to fight the crown as everyone thought Joffrey had the rightful reign and no one would have been able to support Stannis.
@@lethallizard_4493 As Jorah said, the commoners couldn't really care less who's on the throne so as long as they're not dying. The Baratheon children's legitimacy was always called into question to the point no one really believed Joffrey was Roberts they just didn't know who they belonged to other than Cersei until investigations were done by Jon Arryn and Stannis. Joffrey just sat on the throne and people basically accepted it because they're scared Joffrey would kill them or His mother, or Tywin. Everyone is afraid of the lannisters.
What if Littlefinger had married Sansa himself instead of selling her to the Boltons?
Very cool.
he could have called in the Vale army way earlier by asking Robin. or having Sansa ask him.
that means 40 000 men attack Winterfell, not 2000. up to you who wins that but Winerfell under the Boltons isnt gonna stay pro bolton forever under siege. and the Northerners only refused to help Sansa as they didnt see this as a war they coudl win, but clearly they could win if they had the numbers in addition to the Vale armies.
so Sansa would be installed as Queen much earlier, maybe as early as the end of Season 5.
Oh yeah, where would he be in all this. Surely he would have received news of this
Yeah, he kind of just gotten dumb over the seasons and then died.
I really don’t know why he didn’t just do this initially.
What a way to win the North on your side: win their home back with a Stark as your bride.
wouldn't tywin be smarter and actually support the fight against the white walkers. I mean the dude really cared about the family legacy and if the realm is slaughtered by dead people then there is no lannister legacy. if the white walkers win up north it just means all the defenders would be added to the army of the dead and then the lannisters would just have a bigger problem with no support from anyone else. I think tywin being tywin would see that and choose to fight.
but fricken loved the video anyways 👍.
i agree. this isn't robert's rebellion, he can't just wait it out and declare for whoever is clearly gonna win. this is the living vs the dead, the lines are already drawn.

Rosani Rodrigues that would be more of a “What if Myrcella lived” kind of video cuz Myrcella died from poison before tommen
Anonymous Guy
I know I just rushed out my comment
Definitely a cool one.
Then Dorne's efforts may have been worth something in the end.
@@anonymousguy996 well if Oberyn lived then Myrcella probably would’ve lived too right?
What if Jon found out about his heritage before he left for the wall?
Benjen and Ned told him they would talk about his mother at a later date. So if that later date would've come what would've happened?
@@billdenny9599 Well, Ned said he would tell him next time they met. So, it would have to be that they somehow meet before Jon gets to the wall.
@@thesenate9562 its the what I was referring to as opposed to the when. I think both Benjen and (obviously) Ned knew of Jon's true identity and they were waiting for him to take his Night's Watch vows before telling him because they knew it was the safest way to protect him from King Robert's wrath.
Tommen would be one of the best kings ever to rule Westeros if his grandfather remained alive to mentor him.
Here's an interesting what if Doran Martell sent Oberyn to be on the small council much earlier (Before Ned became Hand of the King) it's very likely that Ned and Oberyn would be cordial with each other since Ned was the only one who openly chastised Robert for approving of the deaths of Rhaegar's kids. I also believe that Ned would ask Oberyn to train Arya. This opens up another alternate scenario when Meryn Trant and the guards come to take Arya... Oberyn would swiftly kill them all and send Arya to Dorne for safety. Also Sansa would have some relief from the abuse from the Lannisters due to Oberyn being there to comfort her and treat her like she's one of his own. There's a lot I'm missing but this is just a general summary of events.
Yeah but why would there be an alliance between the Lannister and the Martells if there is no war yet?
@@arthurbriand2175 The Martell's were summoned to be on the council by Jon Arryn in order to stabilize the realm and someone as astute as Doran would see the benefit of having a seat at the table in the decision making process.
@@knivesmillions2913 When is that said in the books? I just rechecked a wiki of ice and fire and on Doran's, Tyrion's and Oberyn's pages, it is said that the seat on the small council was part of the alliance between Dorne and the Iron Throne along with the hand of Myrcella and some castles.
But I really like your scenario, it's original and would literally be another way for Arya who would end up in Dorne instead of Braavos.
@@arthurbriand2175 If things work out in a certain direction like if you include some elements of the book Arya could end up going to Dany alongside Quentin Martell or she could be going with one of the Sand Snakes to meet Young Griff and the Golden Company in the Stormlands but all of this is only possible if she gains Doran's trust over the years and he let's her in on the Targaryen restoration plan. There's also a chance that Oberyn during the battle of blackwater would sneak Sansa out of the city and have her sent to Dorne to be with her sister.
Euron killing tommen and stealing the throne is amazing writing you have gotten great at writing these.
This analysis completely ignores Myrcella Baratheon's fate.
Patrick Emmanuel I wrote a comment about my opinions on this, it’s lost in the many replies but I’d appreciate it if you read it.
What if Jon never found out his heritage, and neither did Dany.
Then season 8 would be full of meaningful scenes and not just switching someone's heritage so there's extra drama to rap up a shit conclusion
@Kimberley Morton same.
Jon was always meant to know his heritage dany is never meant to rule so many clues pointing to her being nothing more than a cruel thug everything she does turns to shit
@@allmightynerd6041 agreed
@@allmightynerd6041apparently Bran is meant to be king though. Not Jon.
What if viserion didn’t die beyond the wall? (Or what if they never went beyond the wall at all)
Or if you want to stretch it farther, what if Arya carried on to Kings Landing to kill Cersei after hearing about the Starks defeating the Bolton’s and retaking Winterfell?
Hope the wrestling channel works out well.
What if Robb escapes the Red Wedding, and lived?
I would have loved to see Tommen as a real king. But you are forgetting in this scenario to get to Tommen Euron would have had to outsmart Margaery's grandmother and fight through the King's guard and possibly Loras Tyrell as well who was not weakened by the faith militant as he was in cannon. I think Tommen could very well have been alive and on the throne when Dani's army arrived and I think he would have surrendered to save King's landing.
Actually out-smarting Ollenna Tyrell is like trying to Out-Pizza the Hut. It's impossible.
Book Euron can do that
WHAT IF: Arya never kills the stableboy in Kings Landing in Season 1 & is captured instead?
In any Tywin lives scenario I always wonder if Cesei will actually grow desperate, frustrated and mad enough to try and kill him. She really could not deal with the inevitability that her children will grow up and live separate from her. And she will eventually blame her father for it happening. Especially if Tyrion is not around as a target for her venom.
what if Arya wasn't told about Jon taking back winterfell by Hotpie and instead continued to the red keep to kill Cersei?
I never realised how the death of a character with such little screen time would start such a chain of events
Personally I could see Bronn leaving with Tyrion in this situation instead of staying behind at kings landing and if Jaimie does survive Tyrion would probably advocate for him to live and become the Warden if the West for Danny.
What if sansa and Ayria returned to wintfell before ned was arrested
In basic terms: The Lannisters would have *significantly* less leverage/ control; they wouldn't be able to try & lay claim to Winterfell through marrying Tyrion to Sansa, nor get anyone to later accept their fake 'Arya' marrying Ramsay.
If the girls are safe, Catelyn has no reason to free Jaime - with the girls, the Starks hold even more hands to offer in marriage alliances; they could make deals with Renly & the Tyrells- & even Stannis & the Stormlands.
Let's say Catelyn is able to go to the Baratheon brothers, with the offer of her daughters, for a mutual alliance against the Lannisters- maybe Stannis remains stubborn, but Renly/ the Tyrells might consider the offer of Sansa (thinking ahead that if Robb dies, a son of hers would have a claim to the North- thereby giving them more power & influence).
As sad as it would be, to lose Ned- Robb's his heir - if anything, it would be more important than ever to keep Ned _alive_ - to get the North & the Riverlands back into the fold. The moment Ned dies, the North has nothing to lose by breaking away.
Also, the decision to offer Myrcella to Dorne might happen earlier, to try & strengthen their support- but that decision was made by Tyrion, & Tyrion didn't come to Kingslanding until after Ned's death - it's unlikely Cersei (or _Joffrey_ ) would make such a politically astute move, & no one else appears to be in a position to do so...
I actually like your scenario, I did not want Oberyn killed off.
To be honest if the show could have changed that I think his death would have been by the cause of Knight King and his death army [Like trying to give time and later on that he gets killed then the Knight King revives him as a New and strong soldier] *(That would have been a perfect of him)*
Tywin would’ve died anyway, he was getting poisoned by Oberyn
What if house greyjoy supported the royalists in Robert's rebellion
What if Arya went to King’s Landing instead of winterfell
What if stannis sided with aerys in Robert's rebellion
What if daenerys didn't burn kings landing
What if daenerys stayed in essos
What if rhaella lived
Tyrion would NOT attack Casterly Rock or Highgarden if Tywin was still alive. He know that his father's fleet would reach faster to highgarden than Dany's own forces would. No, he would probably ask Dorne for their allegiance to Dany and then try to go to the north go gain their support and than blockade King's landing along with whoever in the storm lands agree with him.
"Playing with a body part of Tommen's". You went dark on this one ahahahah

There is little chance that the Starks parlay with the Lanisters while Tywin lives. They know he orchestrated the Red Wedding.
I kinda expected him to say "this video is sponsored by the lannisters"
I really do love the Lannisters though
What if Varys had fled Dragonstone before his execution?
Please consider this one: what if Daenerys is on board with Jon ruling as King as Aegon Targaryen, the 6th of his name, and she will be queen by his side? IMO, I think that would have been a more realistic reaction than her going all mad/paranoid. She should have been ecstatic about another Targaryen being alive and possible ruling together.
They'll definitely have a lot of work to do to rebuild relations with the rest of Westeros and rebuild Kings landing
I wish they were co rulers ,there chemistry was not written well but very cute
What is Stannis and his wife had never been introduced to Melissandra and the faith of R'hllor?
I’ll tell you what! I wouldn’t be crying as hard as I did with Shireen
What if Rhaella Targaryen survives giving birth to Daenerys?
Oberyn Martel was definitely my favorite, despite only appearing for one season of GoT.
What if Ned bent the knee to Joffrey?
Tywin would still die, it's heavily implied that Oberyn poisoned him, especially in the books. He made sure both him and the Mountain would die due to poisoning, even if he lost the trial by combat.
Tommen would never question his Grandfather. He wouldn’t even show up at that meeting. Tywin would agree to the truce as a ruse just like Cersei did.
What if Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen got married?
It's funny that 1 seemingly minor character living could change the course of every event.
Damn this is much MUCH better.
Yeah, fucking cool. 😎
Would’ve loved some good scenes between Margery and Tywin
Hmm I do recall there was a theory about how Oberyn poisoned Tywin
1. Tommen never would have ordered Tywin’s arrest. He’s too good of a character to order the arrest of his grandfather and I think he too, like Joffrey, would be scared of the outcome.
2. Even if he did, I don’t think anyone carries it out. You forget that Tommen doesn’t actually have his own army. The Lannister army is made up of westerland lords directly loyal to Tywin.
Also, a disagreement isn’t a reason to throw someone in the cells. It’s more likely that he’d dismiss Tywin as hand. Which leads to point 2, the Lannister army wouldn’t fight for Tommen.
Annnndddd he’s backkkk😁😁 missed a good ole what if
All he had to do was just not stand over a "defeated" enemy
Even if Tommen had arrested and imprisoned Tywin, Olenna and Margerey would make sure Tommen doesn't over commit his forces. That being said, there's no way the Ironborn could ever take King's Landing. Even if it were only defended by its citizens, the gold cloaks and kingsguard - the ironborn don't have siege weapons or the architectural knowledge of the city to know where to strike like Stannis did during the Battle of the Blackwater.
This. Felt like all the stuff about Tommen dying and Greyjoy betrayal was just a convenient excuse for Dany to be in charge at the end without the story having to have her kill him, Margaery, and probably Olenna (ie. good people). No way the Tyrells let that happen
You deserve MILLIONS of views, these What Ifs are incredible
So basically in order to have a decent ending to the show we just needed Prince oberyn Martel to wear a F#@ing Helmet!
I love the “What If” series. Thanks for posting! ♥️
The one thing that wouldn’t make sense: Tommen throwing Tywin to a cell.
As Varys said: Power resides where men believe it resides. Tommen was perfectly manipulated by everyone around him, if anything had Tywin lived longer people would see him as the real king (the same way it happened with Aerys). So when the time would come, there’s absolutely no way Tywin even makes it to the cell.
Ah man, think of what we could have had. Not that I think D&D could've pulled it off, of course, but in a different universe this is the version we got and I want to be there
needed more oberyn martell
It seems to me that if the Mountain confessed he murdered Elia on the orders of Tywin, Obyren would have went back to Dorn and started a war against the throne, or against Tywin, who was actually running the 7 kingdoms at that point. Dorm would definitely dropped out of the 7 kingdoms, so there would be just another war for Tommen to deal with.
It would actually be Tywin dealing with the war, since he was in charge of everything while Tommen was just a puppet for the people. This would have made it easier for Daenerys to solicit the help of Dorn to take the throne, because the Martells wouldn’t be interested in taking the throne, only justice for the rape and murder of Elia and the murder of her children.
I can’t even imagine how shitty that all would have been with D&D writing for the show once the book source material ran out of all that was in play? It would be horrible because those guys didn’t know shit about writing. Any third grader could have finished the show better than those two. Taking the best show ever on TV and driving it straight into the dumpster must make them the worst TV writers of all time.
It seems like even a mediocre writer should have been able to bring that show to some decent ending, satisfying most of the fans, but that garbage we were given made no one but the most gullible people happy.
I see a title of Oberyn I click
I get a video of mainly Tommen, Euron, and Hardly any Oberyn
My Day is ruined
My disappointment is immeasurable
Beyond stupid give me Oberyn…
Oh my god what a great alternate ending from a tiny change
Oh just you wait until the next WHAT IF video I post this Sunday....
I honestly think Tywin will not do what Cersei has done, and will send his army north, and will use it as an opportunity to have someone assassinate Daenerys, during or after the night king battle.
This is probably my favorite what if scenario.
I know they set up the plot the have the ruse that Euron was getting the Golden Company...but I really don't recall anywhere after he said "fuck this shit I'm out" having any actual confirmation in story that they had planned any of that...just that Cersei must've read the script for season 8 because she announces that to Jaime, then later when she hears word that the army of the White Walkers had breached the wall she is pleased with that information (I mean unless she was just like "good...they can either stave them off or I'll willingly let us all become ice zombies, it's all good with me"...I honestly think Qyburn should've been doing experiments with the wight while Cersei's reign is given more an air of menace to it before accepting the latter part of that statement...maybe at least have her gleefully drinking her wine while she hears screams from that balcony she's been sitting on since after the Sept of Baelor blew up...)
Tyrion would have gone to the Wall and ended up Jon's adviser. Dany would have Varys as her Hand. Baelish would have been an adviser to Sansa. Imagine that Game LOL!
I loved your version of the story. Thank you.
I think you missed out on a whole new Dorne Storyline because you kind just changed a little bit about the og Storyline. The Dorne Storyline could've been completely different. I mean they still had Myrcella at Dorne who was promised to their future prince.
I don't think Tywin would ever make the stupid decision that Cersei did. Tywin believed what he could see, so if you showed him an white walker he would without a shadow of a doubt understand how bad it would be.
What if Edmure Tully doesn’t surrender Riverrun? (What if the soldier listens to Brynden Tully and doesn’t let Edmure in?)
That would’ve been way better than how the actual show played out LOL
Oberyn is favorite character. He's so well rounded.
What if the Mountain confessed to murdering Elia from Tywin's orders before being killed? I like to think that Oberyn poisoned his spear to achieve this...
Oh my god. Adding everything from the show to this, Jaime has gone through a LOT. This man is strong for not losing his sanity.
Jamie went through so, so much...it's bad.
What if the Blackfish joined Sansa and Jon vs Boltons?
I expected Oberyn to kill somebody like Tywin or Cersei
What if Dany did not forget about the Iron Fleet... nvm fuck finding logic in that season
"Do you know what makes a good king, Tommen? A good king doesn't use Comic Sans!"
Shit like this just makes me wish d&d had thrown in the towel and just gone full what-if for the rest of the show, they were already complaining about having to follow the book so why not? I doubt it'd have gone any worse than s6-8. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but I honestly just really wanted more of oberyn
Absolutely...D&D really botched it for us. Seriously.
This makes me even more pissed at seasons 7-8 because if they were gonna eventually fuck shit up they should’ve started by keeping Oberyn alive and Tywin my 2 favorite characters
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING DUDE!
I haven’t read the books in a long time, but I believe Oberyn was planning on bringing Tyrion to Dorne when they were talking in the jail cell before the trial by combat.
Most of Dorne want war with the Iron Throne and will try to crown Myrcella Baratheon as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms (by Dornish Law, Myrcella is next in line to the Iron Throne after Joffrey since Dorne gives inheritance laws to whichever child was born first, no matter boy or girl) with Trystane as King Consort or Regent or whatever.
Doran wouldn’t like it but he’s probably going to die of the gout soon so it doesn’t matter. Arianne, Ellaria, and the Sand Snakes will support Myrcella obviously.
In ADwD, Tyrion seems to be fine with Oberyn’s plan and I can see him being Hand of the Queen to Myrcella instead of Dany since we would have never gotten that Tysha confession from Jaime and he wouldn’t fall into the dark side and bring dragons to Westeros for revenge.
Harambe Harambe
There are many theories on the Dornish master plan but I believe the Martells would find a way to get rid of Tywin anyways, allowing for the Sparrows to come to KL and Cersei would still have her Walk of Atonement.
With Tywin gone, Margaery and the Sparrows having most control over Tommen, and Cersei in despair after her Walk, she might ditch Tommen to support Myrcella (her favorite child). Or she might still make the Sept of Baelor explode but instead of taking the throne for herself in S6 finale, she lets Myrcella sit on it. She wouldn’t mind Trystane being there since he’s not going to try and manipulate Myrcella like Margaery did with Tommen.
Dorne siding with the Iron Throne would be the most ideal alliance to Cersei for when Dany and her dragons come to Westeros since the Dorne always finds a way to resist being conquered by the dragons, joining the Seven Kingdoms 100 years after the other six, and even then it was through several marriages and not conquest.
Evan Hotasi
Yes!!! Trystane being King Regent would ensure the loyalty of the Dornish plus give Cersei a formidable ally to help combat Dany’s forces.
The Dornish maesters would be the ones to present the scorpion ballista to Cersei instead of Qyburn. I can imagine a scene where the maesters tell Cersei of how the Dornish shot down Rhaenys Targaryen’s dragon from the sky killing both dragon and rider and Cersei ordering hundreds of them to be made.
In the books, some of the Dornish lords especially Oberyn have strong ties to the Golden Company so they would still be hired to fight agaist Dany.
So S7 is essentially going to be...
Myrcella, Cersei, Tyrion (if Cersei doesn’t get rid of him first), the Martells, Lannisters, Westerlands & Stormlands lords, Golden Company...
against...
Dany, Dothraki, Unsullied, Tyrells and their bannermen (assuming Mace, Marge & Loras die in the Sept explosion), and Theon and Yara’s Ironborn.
The North, Vale, and Riverlands will probably separate themselves from the realm under Sansa’s rule with Sweetrobin or Harry the Heir as her husband, but eventually allying with Dany once the WW become a threat.
Also I don’t see the North choosing Jon as KitN since he’s 1) a bastard 2) a Night’s Watch deserter and the North really dislikes that stuff as we see in S1E1. But I doubt he would be executed for desertion either.
This video hugely overlooks this...and so did the show. Myrcella's plot was so interesting and made Dorne relevant to the plot.
If Oberyn lived: "Everything is more or less identical apart from a few character changes." Nah mate.
Myrcella's alive, Stannis is alive, Tywin is alive, Littlefinger would change his plan, Bolton's would change their plans, Tyrell's still in the thick of it in KL.
Jon would likely have to leave the North for allies. I doubt anyone would support him while Tywin lived.
Tyrion going to Dorne makes more sense than him going east. Varys would stay to unhinge the crown for a Dany invasion.
Alot more would be different...holy sh*t, did Oberyn single handedly hold the whole plot on this show on his back??
What if Ned accepted Renlys offer to take control the children away from cersei while Robert was dying
FIRST like always, love your vids
It still boggles my mind that Cersei and Loras didn't get married for the political values and then just agree to sleep with whoever the hell they want? It could've been a win-win for the two of them
It's so obvious, isn't it? Like what the heck dood...
What if euron arrived to join forces with danerys before theon and yara got there?
i got so lost in this because it was so good i completely forgot that this was rooted just at oberyn winning the fight
15:47 tbh if they married it would be better to let the secret out since Jon no longer poses a threat but the child’s last name will be targaryen.
Is anyone else disappointed by the fact that while oberyn lives he virtually is barely heard ofIn a scenario where he lives is the main title
Can we expect videos on the Mandalorian? is such a good series
Jon would’ve never married Danerys after learning he was Targaryen
What if Jon and Danny got married as equal instead of Jon bending the knee?
To me, this seemed obvious as it would keep the North in the seven kingdoms (through marriage) and later down the line would help with the line of succession (even in Jon found out I feel like he would be honor-bound to his vows)
I had to like it when you buzzed your beard, that’s dedication to a sponsor. I can get behind that.
That was a better story than the real one in the show. Now I wish Oberon Martel had lived even more than I did before, he was such a cool character.
T hanks.
Here's a great idea"what if joffery spares Ned Stark"😯😯
What if the stonemen fought the white walkers?
Two things don't really tie in
1- what would Tommen be doing in King's Landing if the entire Lannister army has gone to aid the north against the white walkers?
2- Why would Cersei actually commit suicide? It's seen she's the type who would rather die with her power than give it up. I'd be more inclined to think she'd be up to her scheming.
Loved the Euron greyjoy taking the throne twist that sounds so much like him !
Great one 👏👏👏👏👏
Tywin would literally never end up in a fight with Danny and her dragons, he’s a cunning man who picks his battles and never involves himself in conflicts that he can’t win handily. He would marry Tomen to Dany or something like that, in exchange for basically giving her the keys to the realm.
Fuck we have to re film it all!! Bring them back!! This is too good!
