Great video - I subscribed. I own the MSI and think it's one of the better builds I have seen in a long time. In addition to the ways it is engineered, it came perfectly tuned, and razor sharp. I also like that there are several ways to deploy the blade.

Most axis locks you can just remove piviot to remove blade

Gotta say I’m not a fan of micro tech. Seems all these heavy fanboy knife companies don’t hold up to the price they charge. I’m more a user then collector. Just when you reach 54 you’ve collected a lot of users and failures. I just don’t see any extra’s in spend more then $150. Really I don’t usually spend that much. Generally I don’t like the trend of fidget friendly and drop shut. I prefer comfortable and rock solid. Basically I like old coldsteel I like blades bigger then 3in.
    What’s your opinion I’m curious?
Love the energetic partner, pets make everything just better!

I prefer washers. Seen what can happen when a knife with ball bearings gets dropped or thrown a bit. Those super hard ceramic bbs indent the races and you get a permanently notchy action. Washers dont suffer when abused.

You also must not like integrals either? They almost always have to mill out the blade for bearings. It doesnt bother me much cause i honestly doubt you could break that area battoning the knife for 10 years straight lol. Somethint else would break first

Seems like retailers have jacked the price up an extra hundred dollars so I’m not so sure I’ll be getting one. The original price was acceptable and it’s supposed to be the standard issue so no frills. I’m really disappointed with the price hike.LUDTs are selling for $265 retail. Several other brands are competitive. at $360. We are in Socom Elite neighborhood. And I’ve only seen that crappy orange collar lol.

I completely agree, at $250 or so, this would be an exceptional knife. At $360 to 400, it has too much excellent competition. If I had to choose between the MSI and something like a Heretic Manticore X in Magnacut at the same price, there wouldn't even be a question. I would go with the Heretic. I am hoping that the price will come down once Microtech actually sends them to their sellers. I was recently at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works, which is literally the largest knife store in the world, and they could not even get MSIs in stock.

Have always like the look of the Microtech's & i was fairly keen on purchasing both the MSI with combo blade & a STITCH plain .
here they are nearly a thousand dollar item each , but after seeing this video , i will say its nicely made, but its definately NOT a HARD USE folder & of any where near the strength & quality of the SOCOM ELITE. yet its double the price.
the liners are very thin & if your counting on the G10 to add any value to is structure you would be kidding yourself. i don't think it was necessary to remove such a large portion of the blade either. & as far as that RAM lock goes it will be useless once it get some dirt or grit in it. I would really like to see a fairdinkum review on the item after it has been used for a good 12 months in a trade environment. NOT sat on a desk looking pretty & getting fidgeted with on occasion & cutting paper !
i've had a HALFBREED MILF WHARNY for about six-seven years & its been used as a screwdriver, a shackle tool, a hammer, pry-bar, stubbie top ripper, an axe, yes ive battoned with it on Aussie hardwoods & even used it as a knife to cut battery cables & other industrial products, its been thrown into the dirt & mud, used in saltwater to lift abalone of rocks & process fish & other game & it is still in service today. it was only $300 knife. & its made right here in Australia.
sorry but i CANNOT see where the value is ??
i'm starting to think that Microtech along with a few others have started to LOSE THE PLOT !
BUT GREAT VIDEO & THANK YOU FOR SHARING, You have really helped me to see through the HYPE !

G10 is an incredibly durable material. Its strength to weight is higher than 6061 aluminum and its tensile strength is nearly equivalent. That makes it a very durable material and trustworthy in a knife IMO. Also as for pricing, your bias is forced being in Australia. In the US, the MSI is still much cheaper than the socoms. You're still looking at over 300USD for the socom and 175 for the poly MSI.

this is a great video & shows just how thin the G10 scales are, don't get me wrong i love G10 as a scale & handle material as it is impervious to moisture, thermally stable, quite hard wearing & feels good, but there's not much of it where its needed ! now as far as their lock mechanism goes it will fail & or stick up as soon as it gets any grit or pocket fluff/lint in there & to be very honest yes the Socom is a rock solid tank compared to the MSI ! so i am saying there is a lot better & more knife you can get for a lot less money, i don't know how they justify such high prices for what should be a budget classed folder & it IS a budget classed folder, its a nice looking knife but looks account for nothing if the functionality & longevity is not there when its needed in the real world. i would like to hear from somebody who has owned & used an MSI on a daily basis in a working environment for a good 12 months, & not just fanboys who carve up paper on their desks like most wankers !.@@Bumblesnitch

Any company should know not to use red loctite!!!! How are we supposed to maintain these knives. I’ve stripped a T20 but trying to get my black one apart and my black one is a little different that this. No internal screws whatsoever. Very disappointed I can’t get the other side of mine off. Bad move Microtech

Its weird that there are some with 5 external screws and some with 3 per side. Not including pivot

Also if you stripped a t20. Thats insane. Was it titanium hardware. A t20 is hard to strip short of using a impact gun. Im a construction forman we use t25 and t20 a lot. Unless the screws are soft its near impossible to strip. I understand red locktite. But damn

Not one reply or heart from him. Odd, especially for a smaller channel.
