Trash Panda Knife Beats the Benchmade Bugout! Vosteed Raccoon, make friends with vermin.
The taggedout isnt worth the price for intinded use to be honest. Kershaw has the iridium and mini iridium that mimic the aluminum scaled bugout and mini bugout. Srm has their tagged out. The buck 110/112 slim select can also fill the roll of the taggedout and mini taggedout. Gerber sumo as a benchmade freek... Benchmades arent worth the price, warranty is voided if you disassemble for maintenance even. Plus quality control on them is garbage. Got a chip in my mini bugout blade from cutting a box open within the first week of having it. I like my mini iridium better, at an ounce heavier it has better scales, better action, and feels better in hand due to it being a quarter of an inch longer in blade length and handle length than the mini bug. I bet i can even mill out the liners to reduce weight even more, and turn it into a mini bugout!
@@bandito_dino I did a recent video on how unreasonable Benchmade prices are. Theybare pretty out of control.
The only reason that an e.d.c folder makes scene / logic is when you're out and about in public and want / need to be incognito. When "low-key" presentation isn't required, then a fixed blade is better in every way possible. But really, it's just really your own personal choice / preference.
@@mildmanneredmercifulmouse1839 I have made a lot of fixed blade pocket sheaths recently for this exact reason.
Hell yeah
@phillipivey6753 I also did a Peace Maker a few months ago.
There's something satisfying about making scales that fit a blade better than the factory ones.
@@RogueWill83 definitely! I carry this knife all the time now.
Everybody was Kunwu Fighting , those flicks were fast as lightning.
@@tonytramonti5828 😆😆
There are definitely folks like myself out there that prefer very thin slicey knives vs chonkey choppers. I have owned several keychain scalpel blades and love them for package opening mostly. I have not yet tried one of these larger blade versions. But I have been eyeballing them for the last few years. It's hard to beat an Opinel for a decent inexpensive slicey blade though.
@@FrugalShave I am looking into a sturdier type of folding scalpel. I will post a video if I get one.
I can reccomend, Olight 😊some of the best quality Or Fenix 😊 not expensive
@martijndaems6503 Fenix was my introduction to high end flashlights. Seeing what was possible was eye-opening.
@knivessportsandadventures9523 Ok. Me to (fenix) first 😅 ... Just saying... what do you think about the olight Seeker 4 Pro? 😁
@martijndaems6503 it looks fantastic. I haven't used one yet, but it addresses just about everything I look for in a flashlight. Easy charging, choice ofntint color, multiple brightness options from off, sturdy build.
I don't like that.USB charging requires the holster though. It really only makes sense if you use the holster, because without it the light locks itself. Lockout is easy to unlock, but it adds an extra element of fiddly-ness without the holster.
It's not fair to knife tease with these xl beasts. We know that the Bowie and the Espada were influenced by the Navaja of 1600s Spanish origin. These poor folks will always be itchin for one in their big ol hands. 🇦🇺🥷🪃
@@merlingeikie the Frenzy is also rarher ridiculous 🙄
It's a folding kitchen knife. That is reason for the cleaver style blade so the belly of the blade is cutting on the board with your hand down there. 🤠👍 The L1 is where they fixed some of the issues.... I believe that Ken Onion designed both the R1 and L1 Sentry's
@@Chris_In_Texas Cool! That's good background info
Thank you so much two years later and helped me out tremendously. Have another one that a spring went to mars and need a replacement do you know where I can get one? It’s the tiny ones
@@dannyreyna2753 Benchmade is pretty good about replacing stuff like that, but you will probably have to send them your knife.

I like the og better. If you slip up that handle, or cant sharpen it, you have bigger problems that a new knife aint gonna fix.
@@jusme8060 I made a really nice handle from micarta that makes the knife much more comfortable. I love it now.
Just got 1 for xmas I like it.
My dad bought one for me and I love it!
Is that a newer one or one before cold steel was bought out?
@@danamez2034 I got this one about 6 months ago.
Cool I really like the peacekeeper t2 myself you should do one made out of wood next.I thought it would be pretty
@@star-du6vp that's a good idea. I have one of the larger ones that needs a new handle.
It’s an expensive knock off of the CRKT Razel. Which I mentioned on the guys channel and the comments kept getting deleted 😂
@nathski22 the CRKT is a liner lock, but otherwise they are pretty close. I have not held the CRKT to see hiw sturdy it is. The Bourbon Blade is DEFINITELY overbuilt.
Razel isn't chisel ground though. That does make a big difference on wood.
@Snarlacc The Bourbon blade does really well on wood, but it gets dull very quickly.
@@knivessportsandadventures9523 Not the fault of the geometry though. Chisel edges are pretty easy to burn through - you'd probably need to hardndess test it, if the edge is softer than spine, or sharpen away 1mm or so. The 10$ D2 Walmart knife has ths problem, but that should not happen at that price ont. Definately should contact the maker.
@Snarlacc I will update if it improves after a few sharpenings.
Benchmade are the biggest snake oil knife company around, but their marketing is genius people love that butterfly. Their otfs are not comparable3to microtech but that butterfly is. A sucker born everyday
Their marketing is definitely top notch.
Shame about the hardness. With 14C28N being a known high toughness steel I can't imagine why it should be that soft on purpose. Maybe they burned the edge?
@@Snarlacc maybe, it's really a shame on such a neat tool.

It can't be re sharpened at all please don't go for it. 👎
@@sunilkhisti4887 mine sharpened just fine. Did you get one with a bad heat treatment?
I bought this knife for my woman for cooking at home and she honestly loves it.. Me being an avid knife fidgeter, I find myself playing with this knife all the time lol
I gave up. Been a benchmade guy for as long as I can remember, had one in my pocket most of the time since the 90’s, but they haven’t put out anything I wanted since the before the bugout. And even if something I liked popped, it would be priced at close to double what I could get a competitors offerings for.
That piece of carbon is not 40 dollars lol, 3k carbon plate in 3mm (I make race quad frames out of it) would he about 3 bucks for a 1.5x6 inch piece to cut the scale out of... Buying it buy the sheet that handle scale is about a dollar in material cost.
@Edcreviewer the plate is about 6mm thick. Does that make much difference?
It's what happens when the owner passes away and greedy family take over the business.
It was interesting being at the Smoky Mountain knife works and seeing how conflicted the employees at the Benchmade counter were.
Absolute trash….do not buy
@thehaze4041 what kind of problem did you have with it?
Well bad comparison. Socp is a self defense knife and u dont need auper steel for a self defense knife. You use it once itll end up in an evidence locker. R they overpriced ya. But ur buying a knife for life with bm. Ya wish they were cheaper...so i could buy more. Clearly they get alot of hate but ppl r still buying
@mrmouse-ol9pw the new Water series is also a good comparison with the ZT 0545. Both have Magnacut blades, both $250. But the Benchmade has super cheap FRN handles and the ZT is solid titanium and carbon fiber.
That literally won't give any consistency as an edge retention test your cuts are different every single time it's impossible for it to not be doing what you're doing
Vanax doesn't have higher corrosion resistance that H1/H2 they are literally stain proof
Both benchmade and spyderco
@@user-xm8rf6ik7b Spyderco would be another good cost analysis to do.
Ever got the Benchmade fanboys. I had one for a few months, hated it changed to a tried and true crkt m16 and never looked back. Zero if I'm going fancy day to day crkt.
@enigmacrk200 CRKT actually has some good new stuff. I carried my Seismic today.
I'm going to say Benchmade's prices are in line with the competition. Everyone will say that the bugout with S30V ang grivory scales for 170 is too high while Spyderco rolls out the bodacious in S30V and G10 for 270 are G10 scales worth a 100 dollar upcharge? Probably not and yet there's little to no complaints. Then there was the complaints about the Narrows. Let's take a deeper look at that Titanium, M390, and made in the U.S. for 550 while Spyderco(again) offers the Spydiechef in LC5200, Titanium scales and made in Taiwan for 350. Now what if the Spydiechef was made in the U.S. instead of Taiwan and used M390 do you think it would be pushing 500+? Now to hold Spyderco accountable they have done some questionable moves and there isn't much complaining about 135 dollars for a tenacious with Titanium scales and 8CR13MOV let that soak in made in. Also, what is a base tenacious going for now? 70 dollars? I remember when they were 35 dollars. Now in comparison Kubey has the Tityus in 14C28N and Titanium scales for 100 or so dollars. In my opinion the benchmade hate is misdirected any and every U.S. conpany's price are just as bad if not worse because they're either making collaborations overseas or making knives overseas to supplament their profits. Do I wish benchmade offered a budget lineup? Sure, will they? I doubt it. At least they do offer payment plans. In closing no one can say buy U.S. made knives and expect Chinese prices.
This was hardly a fair comparison. You could've compared the zt to a Benchmade griptillian I bought one several years ago in 154 cm for $115 but you could get one in s35cn for around that price point. I bought a custom griptillian from dlt with carbon fiber scales and m390 blade for 220. Both companies have knives that are way overpriced(every model by zt is over 200, Benchmade had a lot priced under 200) and for some dumb reason D2 is making a resurgence like it's a good steel. D2 is a trash steel, you shouldnt ever buy a knife in 420j2, aus 8 or below, D2, or pot steel(husk knives). Maybe if you argued zt was overpriced I would agree. The real one out of touch with reality is they guy paying for a knife in D2.
@@steelasura I am also confused by the popularity of D2. A friend of mine is a machinist and was confused that people used D2 for knives at all.
@knivessportsandadventures9523 I feel like it's knife companies trying to pull a fast one on people with limited knife knowledge. I've been on a fixed blade binge lately, was surprised to see so many companies have knives over the 100 dollar price point in D2. If you want d2 get a Walmart knife, I've owned about 3 D2 blades in my lifetime, they don't stay sharp, they chip from chopping wood and it doesn't cut zip ties. I have a scar on my shoulder from trying to cut a zip tie that was holding my brake caliper to the frame while I did suspension work, I put the knife under the zip tie and pulled toward myself expecting it to cut, it did not cut, instead glided right off the zip tie and the tip made in into my shoulder about a 1/4" deep which is also sad because I was putting hella force to cut the zip tie, had it even been a cheap buck knife I feel I would've gone to the bone.
@steelasura my grapdpa used to call this paying $1 for the knife and $200 for the name on the side.
Finally getting the callout they deserve. I’ve been into knives since I was 5 years old. Later in my life I became a chef. I invested 350$ for a very good chef knife early on in my career. It’s 25 years old now still running strong and will outperform any benchmade with plastic/ frn/ scaled with a 3.5 inch powder metallurgical hipster steel. It’s sad. I’ll never put that kind of money in a mass produced folder. It’s insane.
@@TheKronikone out of curiosity, what kind of chef knife do you have?
@ I bought a Shun long before they became mass produced and affordable. Best purchase I ever made.
@TheKronikone I am curious to how the current ones hold up.
@ if you mean the new Shuns…I know someone whose fell off the table and lost 1/4 inch of the tip and most of the handles have become cheap injection moulded crap but from what I understand it really depends on the tier in which you buy now that they’re much more popular.
@TheKronikone I remember thinking they seemed really expensive
Yes asa short anser.
@@ahilbilyredneksopinion agreement
I found that Zero Tolerance knife on the ground and never knew what brand it was. Didn’t pay much attention to it, as I have another EDC but the carbon fiber seemed so cool to me. Didn’t know that it was worth that much. Part of me thought it was some Chinese built Temu knife. This is the first time I’ve seen another one.
@@end_oh that's a great find!
When there was a slew of knive brands that were trash, Benchmade set the standard. Now that there are plenty of quality makers out there, they don't rate. Edit: They don't rate for the price point they are at.
