I think that the commentators back from around 1997-1999 are far better than the ones they have today, especially with the likes of Peter Aliss. The tempo is also more settled and nice to watch, nowadays everything is more about the commercials and the stats and the titles and all of this patriotic BS plus looking at trackman angles. We need to get back to this time where golf was just a lot more grounded and cozy, and the presenters wheren't so fast and non caring. We also want more people like Buth Harmon commenting on swings and throwing in some small stories, and also more from Colin Montgomerie. So golf doesn't just become about the performance part.
Peter Alliss rarely gets credited for his work in America but honestly he was just as good if not better on ABC, where he continued to work through 2010. During the British Open where he was always working for the BBC, he would still hop over to the ABC side for an hour or two per day, which was always among the best hours of golf on American tv for the year.
Things just changed too fast. Technology and communication has put everything into overdrive. More humans every year. Every industry and sport is more and more crowded. More money involved. Every little thing you do publicized. Just... bleh.
Funny how they say BK is super long with a 52 degree gap wedge going 150. TW been doing it with a 50 degree Pitching Wedge way back with a slower ball....LOL 13:04 Kuch been kuching the putter even back in 98' pre arm locks.
daniel reeve same here. I never doubted he could win again as long as he was healthy. But to see it was amazing. I just had finished 10th grade when he last won a major and now I’m married with 2 kids during this recent Masters! It just puts it in perspective how long it was but man was/is it special!
I don't know the exact statistics... BUT, I bet Tiger's career statistic on par 3's is right at par or maybe a little over.....if I'm right, that's pretty interesting, considering how much he's won..😵💫🙏✌️
Won this with his game COMPLETELY under construction. Who else would have the balls to break down and change your swing after winning the masters by a million at age 21 lol
It's funny when the commentators sing left handers. That it will be difficult for a leftist. Left handers just turn the other side, but it's normal to them!
Watching these old clips of young Tiger I gain more respect and admiration of the best TIGER WOODS!!!

@Phillip Oliver Holtz Nice to hear someone that agrees with me.
It was the less was more, kinda unfocused era :-)

Venturi is by far the best announcer next to Nantz.
Roar!!!
All the comments Greg and Kenny were making about waiting/not waiting to putt out I was reminded of Doug Sanders at St. Andrews against Nicklaus. 🤦♂️
Seeing caddies walk around with cigarettes in their hands is just hilarious. See 31:40
