There's no reason they didnt just utilize this in Episode 1. This thing would have been a hell of a lot more fun to fight in the trainstation than a few stiders
i imagine how fucking horrific the 7 hour war must of been, especially with all these creatures and then this, how terrified the soldiers around the globe were to see these out-of-world type horrifying creatures that could tear you to shred or worse
I would love to have them with a long death animation. Imagine their mechanic implants on their back catching on fire, they stumble, spray like the turrets and then explode with ammo being thrown everywhere
Keep in mind, these things do have spherical shields around them and a tank like gun that would absolutely destroy any armored vehicle or building. This goes to show how the combine won the 7 hour war with these tank like beasts

You know, looking at these things, would you really be able to kill them? Striders and Gunships can be killed, but only with explosives (And Combine balls), purely because their armor has to be lightweight enough to keep them mobile. These things have thicker legs than anything else the Combine creates, so its fair to assume its armor is far thicker than what you would find on a lowly Strider. I could see the mechanical panel on its rear (probably some sort of interface or ventilation system) being weaker than its main hull. Perhaps you would have to coax a rocket into it, like on a Gunship. Or a similar fight to White Forest with Hunters protecting Striders, where you were highly advised to use a special weapon that weaker, but more mobile enemies are actively defending against? The rebellion really wouldn't stand a chance if these paved through City 17. Gunships are ineffective at searching urban environments. Striders stand a better chance, but can only duck so low. Crab Synths could just bulldoze their way into any hideout, and smear rebels across the walls afterwords.

Gunships already do a pretty good job at shooting down rockets, pairing up a Gunship and Crab Synth together would really complicate things. And I would be terrified to get close enough to drop a mine near one of them. If they are atleast the size of a Combine ATV, potentially twice the size of one, that is NOT something you want to get up against.
@@pauldeddens5349 in fact, as you can see on the image, the little crabs around the crab synth are assault synths, there supposed to throw explosive energy balls and they are pretty fast. For the crab synth, roller mines should do the tricks, after all, roller mines are made to take down vehicles, and this crab synth is a tank

It would be an interesting sequence though. A chase through a highway by several crab synths, attempting to reach a cache of rollermines. So you can then reprogram them and start pushing back. Much more interesting than how they were used in Episode 1.
this might be 12 years late but you can notice the step sounds are the antlion guard sound when it hits a wall if it misses a charge and you can also hear the guard death sound in the synth crabs dieing sound 0:34 so are the synth crabs modified antlion guards?
This is incredible! My only gripe is the sounds purpose cam be hard to tell apart, for instance the roar and the idle sound nearly the same. The distance sound is haunting though

Sin duda este pudo haber sido un buen Npc enemigo muy parecido al zancudo pero sin las patas alargadas ,incluso me atrevería a decir que su rol era el de tankear y spanwnear esas pequeñas nano-hormigas similar a los de starwars se nota que esta unidad iba a ser de asedio contando con una poderosa embestida o quizá arriete , además de tener una gaitling gun y un cañon en el otro brazo también me atrevería a decir que lucen ambos tanto las Blast-Ant como el Slitido-combat controlados por alguien
The crab sythn should be in half life 2 after the fight with the strider on the ruined building and jumping off the building and fighting the crab sythn would be perfect
The only models that remain of the beta is the CP's because after there game was leaked and they arrested the man they still kept the model but changed the colors to gray and black but still keeping the white mask they had in the beta. And the Overwatch is a nother example because if you put the half-life2 model between the beta model you will see a resemblance but half-life2 model has been changed to a dark green with millatary pattern(camo in a darker blue) and white on the side of the torso and also still keeping the the symbol on there arm, elite or a new unit to. And the one thing that still remains is the synth on the vid

You're about to reach the next act. You pick up a rocket launcher and then you hear this 0:22 i call the act: The Combine's Retaliation.
Imagine when killing this thing it’s guts and blood just explodes out like in episode 2 with the Strider getting its brain ripped out
Also, since it has a grille, I imagine that a smoke and fire would comes out of that when it's low health
