  • In this video is my 2016 toyota camry with about 96 thousand plus miles (mostly highway). I just thought it strange that transmission fluid could last the lifetime of the vehicle. I think its a play on words if ur transmission goes there goes the life of your vehicle. I went on Toyota Nation Forum and some people say change it 30 to 50 thousand others say every 60 thousand. so i feel long over due.

    I appreciate all the effort you made into both explaining and videoing this project. That you let the car sit overnight before removing the fluid so it would be at a the same environmental temp as the replacement trans fluid makes complete sense. From what I understand that small plastic rod inside the drain plug cap acts as an upside down dipstick.
    The only change I might adjust to your technique would be to get the car level on the ramps and rear wheels on two jack stands to get a more complete trans fluid draining (you did mention that not all the fluid got drained because of the incline), otherwise a very clear explanatory video for how to do this job. Thanks

      Yes i agree but i didnt have anymore ramps at the time

      Sorry to disagree but jacking the car up at the front only, gets a lot more fluid to drain into the back if the pan.. It's considerably more effective than doing it level. If you are replacing the drained fluid with exactly the same amount you drained, you don't don't need the car be level back to front...That's only for a full flush with temperature meters etc....... I tried using the recommended torque on the filler nut, but it seemed to much, so I just did it nice and tight and snug..... A liter of Valvoline WS !!!! fluid at walmart is $5...3 litres will do a 2017 Camry with some left over

    thank you sir for your effort of 3 hours to show us how to do the fluid change for just $50-60 instead of $200 shops ask

    Nice job. Car care nut also has a comprehensive video. You can put a wire in your ob2 port and it will tell you correct operating temp and then you can back out the plastic dip stick.

    I have the same car and did mine exactly how you did yours. There is no reason to check level if you never had a tranny leak to begin with. Room temperature. Measure what came out. Put same amount back in. Done. Nice job. However, shame on Toyota for putting the fill plug in a pain in the ass place. Im sure they did it so owners would not want to DIY this and take their cars to the dealers to get this done.

    Measuring is a good way to refill but you fill until the fill plug overflows. And PEOPLE PLEASE RECORD WITH YOUR CAMERA SIDEWAYS

    you are only getting a fraction of the oil out anyway most of the oil is trapped in all the passages and clutch of the transmission so if you are accurate you can just drain some out and put same amount in but if you get it warm and are level you can check level with that plastic tube

    You did exactly I did my es350 luxes. My opinion no obd, no temp gun needed and no need to drain excess. Just add what came out. I did extra that is after pouring 2 quarter new oil, I ideal car for 1 minute, and drained another 2 quarters, a total of 4 quarters to make it old oil better mix. What do you think.
    Lexus takes 6.8 quarters found in manual.

    What was the point of the ramps if you were going to jack it up and remove the wheel later? 😂

    • @danielakasmart2891
      @danielakasmart2891  8 місяців тому +1

      Yoooo this made me so angry with myself . the ramp was to be able to get up under the front and drain it , later on I realized i had to take off the front driver side wheel to get to the fill ot back with fluid 😌😌😌

      Yes, car MUST be level to get accurate fluid level if you’re doing the proper procedure with the car running and transmission in proper temp range. If you’re replacing exactly what you took out, doesn’t have to be. Just know that if you’re using this method, you better be sure it was properly filled to begin with. If you bought the car used in don’t know it’s history and don’t know if the tranny fluid was messed with before do not use this method.

    Does your Camry have a slight whine in the 0-40 MPH range. I have a '15 and there is a light whine while shifting...mine has 65K...is this normal?

      After cursing for a few days and done it a few times it's almost like second nature. Plugs only needed to change at 100,000 miles. On my 2014 Camry that one oil pan bolt was a PIA, almost impossible to remove, more impossible to install and no way to torque it to specification. I'm sticking with Toyota at least I know what I'm getting at as I had so many problems with American and European vehicles.

      Asking because some of my friends recently bought 2015 Toyota Camry, and I didn't see the transmission fluid stick ? That makes me wonder how to check the fluid level (or leave it to the God in hope that the level is fine?)

    • @danielakasmart2891
      @danielakasmart2891  2 роки тому +1

      @@nitinlad1994 Before i did anything i put the car on the ramp and let it sit over night. then after i drained it i measured how much came out, and i put back that same amount plus a quarter pint roughly (not to much). reason i left it over night was i wanted the fluid coming out to be the same temp as fluid going in so it wouldnt be much difference in volume

    Not 1/4 it's a 3/8 ratchet just for future reference. If people follow this video and try to use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet they will break the ratchet more than likely.

Imagine going all your childhood not allowed to curse then you become a adult still dont curse but then you join a job where majority of the people curse in mild conversation. No excuse and on the same hand this video wasnt for kids
